I'm not the biggest Metallica fan, but the 1989 Seattle concert is one of the best concerts I've ever seen. It would have been amazing to see them then.

    • +5

They were my favourite band in high school and I saw them in 1989 in Sydney. On the way in there was a trail of dope smoke from Central station to the Hordern Pavilion. It was the most energetic gig I've ever been too - band and audience. They were everything I built them up to be in my mind.

They then changed a lot, I didn't change with them, and I've never been interested in them since. Weird how that ended so fast.

      • Wasn't in Aus in '89 but they were my fav in school too, and I don't listen to them much any more however, I guess I changed too. It's only natural.

        • +1

Yeah, I saw your namesake in Sydney too, don't know if it was 89 or 90, not too long after Metallica. Big letdown TBH, especially after mustaine saying stuff like "Metallica was the first course, Megadeth will be the main."

I'm not interested in Metallica any more but Master still gets plenty of play when I'm not looking for something new. I can't immediately think of a better metal album.

          • @afoveht: Agree when choosing between Metallica and Megadeth… it's Metallica 9 out of 10 times for me.

            • @megadeth: Don't know if you've heard this - I love AJFA but I can't help thinking this version would have been epic.

              • @afoveht: Love AJFA… indeed my first ever song which got me hooked on to Metallica was 'One'. Sounds like the original studio version. Remember most of the lyrics still… ha ha…

    • +1

That's their peak and literally one of the best shows in music history.

  • Lars would be spinning in his grave…

    …if he was dead.

  • the comments are so entertaining hahaha thanks OP !

    Oooh yeah-heah

This is my favourite Metallica related film…. “Mission to Lars”. Independent film about siblings who take their autistic brother on road trip to try to meet his hero, Lars. Now free on YouTube https://youtu.be/sUIESf0g56M Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

  • +2
