This is "discounted" so often it's not a "bargain", it's just straight advertising.

    • +47

Isn't that the same with the weekly Coles and Woolworths deals? Yes it is.

        • -2

          Why?

          • +14

@spaceflight: Well, Coles and Woolies don't have ONE thing they advertise, and just do so repeatedly. I know it's a difficult concept - who doesn't walk into Woolies and think "Great, one item to buy! I'll buy that!" - but anyway, that's a fairly significant difference. (I know this is hard to believe, but Woolies have thousands of items.)

        • +41

Ive been a supporter of bigman deals but gotra agree with mickey this time.

1)When the rrp is $100 and you have sales at least monthly. The rrp is basically just a marketing strategy. (We know better than to post rrps at ozb!)

2)bigman said the last sale was final. This is just crappy deceptive advertising behaviour. Even though its a minor infringment I dont think we should support these tactics.

          • +2

            @gimli:

We know better than to post rrps at ozb!

Seems you're not interested in PS5s or Xbox Series X…

            • @Faro: Lol.
              I wish

            • +1

@Faro: Ah yes, excellent comparison, given this is CLEARLY basically impossible to get like those consoles. Genius comparison.

              • -1

                @mickeyjuiceman: I wasn't even making a comparison

I just signalled in on that one line. Couldn't care less about whatever you're arguing for lol

          • @gimli: Is bigman the same guy as John Farnham? Going the last ever, ever, ever, ever show of forever and ever one night only ever?

      • +6

Some coles deals are on special every second week but many arent. But it also comes down to demand.

You get groceries every week so if so second weekly specials are still meaningful. If it was monthly you probably wouldnt wait for somethings.

With BMT videos you probably would only use it once a year. So second weekly deals are ridiculous

        • -5

I'd rather rub my eyes in chilli than watch another one of his videos after what I saw on youtube

the ozbargain community should be protected from shysters like this

          • +3

@MrThing: Honestly who are you to call Tyrone a shyster, he sells a product and people love it. Yes he regularly has sales, but for me and many others this price still constitutes a bargain and I appreciate the notice. From all of my interactions with him he is an absolute gentleman who does what he does with the purest of intentions. He wants to make people happy. If you can't appreciate that then jog on.

            • +1

@makeyouryear: I don't think positive intent is an excuse for transparently misusing Ozbargain for maximum exposure.

              • @oxfordcollar: I agree with you entirely. My comment was intended to be more a defense of a person rather than the deal though I did veer into the latter. I suppose it's the misuse that is debatable, however I'll accept Tyrone is beginning to push the envelope. Perhaps if we could establish guidelines these situations could be dealt with in a more clinical fashion. Of course to call Tyrone a scam artist implies people are not getting what they pay for which couldn't be further from the truth.

                • +1

@makeyouryear: If people really want to can set a limit of like posting once a month or something or every two months

But honestly why don't people just hide the post. I don't know why some get so worked up lol. Seems like most people if he didn't say last one for 2021 they would be okay?

                  • @AussieMark: You're absolutely right, with fewer clicks and far less thought. MrThing has instead chosen to reiterate their opposition to this deal more than ten times. I suppose we all use this site differently, I take a utilitarian approach while others strive to maintain the sanctity of their church.

  • +17

You said on your last post that it would be the last one for 2021…

    • Maybe there will be a Boxing Day promo to come.

      • +2

We can only hope that will happen, I can't wait!

      • +1

        Thats a possibility :)

    • +14

Yes and I said so in the video. Buyers write to me often asking for coupon codes and I have had so many wanting to do Christmas messages for loved ones, so one last one does not hurt. As I said, I should be the one complaining because I do the work to get scores of videos done. One deal more does not hurt the customer; it benefits them wouldn't you agree?

      • +40

        some might call it spam

      • +45

        It also benefits you.

I don't know, I just like businesses to be honest when they say things like: available for a limited time only, closing down sale, last sale of the year etc. Just feels like they would say anything to get a sale.

        • +20

The lack if honesty is what is disappointing

        • +4

One of the stors near me has been closing for the last 5 years, according to them.

        • +2

You must really hate John Farnham and Midnight Oil

          • -3

@Jackson: Why bring "hate" into it? Wouldn't be deliberately changing the direction of the discussion, would you?

          • +1

@Jackson: Ha! I hadn't heard of them before I came to Oz except that one "your the voice song".

            • +1

@onetwothreefour: It was a running joke that his "last tour" was actually repeated 3 times over a 10 year span, and it didn't help that it was so heavily advertised. the tour was even called "the last time tour" and he did 2 or 3 more after it :-/ For someone who's an Aussie icon, it's just un-Australian, doesn't pass the pub test, and not fair dinkum

              • +1

@Jackson: yeah sorry I did get your joke, just don't have any feelings towards them either way :)

        • He could've said no too, but he's back by popular demand.

      • +3

Does anyone ask for videos at the USD100 price?

        • +1

stupid people, so i bet heaps of people

        • Guess I'll hand in my Ozbargain membership then

      • +21

Buyers write to me often asking for coupon codes and I have had so many wanting to do Christmas messages for loved ones, so one last one does not hurt. As I said, I should be the one complaining

How BS are you going come upwith.

If buyers write to you then just individually send them the coupon. If you want to complain about the work then dont do it. To me it sounds like you didnt get enough orders recently hence the spam/bs marketing

    • +6

Bigman thinks we are fools who will fall for the neverending final sale.

      • Well, it appears he's correct judging by plenty of the responses on here, and by the downvoting morons.

    • Must've meant 20:21pm of that day lol

    • Times are tough

  • +24

This guy is fast becoming the next Rugs-a-million. Hey, now there's an idea! Going-out-of-business sale (for 10 years).

    • +36

      Or John Farnham's 'last tours'.

      • +7

        Thank you.
        Thank you.
        Someone finally said it.

        • +6

Finally said it? Farnham's tours were a running joke for years, I didn't think it was a secret.

    • +8

      Double down.
Get him to do an imitation Rugs a million advert spoof.

      • +5

        Remember Fukurri Rugs?

      • +2

Can he also do a "Hello, it's Frank Walker from National Tiles"…?

      • +1

        BUT WAIT, THERES MORE……..

(sorry to shout, but thats the way they do it) 😂

    • +1

Reminds me of this chaser spoof from a few years ago! https://youtu.be/HOdz-CJ3k3Q

      • +2

I thought I won't laugh, but I laughed so badly that my throat hurt!

  • +7

    Who?

  • +2

    Tyrone what

Buy my always discounted thing for your money

going out of business sale, 90% off all the time, everything must go

I watched some youtube videos of this bloke and feel like its just some huge scam.

    Avoid..

    • +9

You've been here for half a minute and are already dictating what should be allowed? Please.

    • +3

Define scam? Don't like don't buy, simple.

  • +10

My last BMT video was fantastic. Likely pulling the trigger on this one!

  • +34

I don't think we should allow these types of services on Ozb. It's generally not what the typical user is browsing for.

It's vastly different from a legitimate bargain on a mobile phone, laptop, ISP discount or even just really cheap foods/groceries in bulk etc.

Most of us are trying to find bargains that benefit our home/household/family. I don't see how this service benefits OZB?

    • +8

      It doesn't, its total garbage

    • +9

Yep its basically a meme and one step away from a scam but people enjoy it I guess.

    • +10

Just filter it out from your view if you don’t want to see BMT promos? Just because you’re not in the market for something doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be on OzB. Especially when it’s 90% off!

      • +15

my bathwater is 99% off for today only. so only $100 a jar, can I tempt a bargain hunter like yourself?

        • +5

I mean part of the beauty of the site is voting. I daresay your bathwater ain't going to be getting many, but if it did actually have a regular price of $10000…

        • +2

          Pokimane is that you?

    • +1

It's generally not what the typical user is browsing for.

Neither are a lot (most?) of posts.
Just look the deals for X is coming to Netflix/Xbox Game Pass/etc

At least this is a service/product you actually pay for. It's cheaper then the price most days of the year.

      • Not sure why all the downvotes for you mate, everything you are saying is true. The game pass and streaming service "deals" that require subscription are complete bs. If anything should be in the forum, it's those. I'd say the only reason they aren't is because they're popular as they remind people and most don't read the forums.

    • -2

You dont like freedom of choice ? are we going cancel culture on things we dont like on Ozbargain ……… well ok cancel kog…. um

  • +4

how to make the moniees…..i just need your bank account and sort code

    • +2

and pin number and birth date

    • -4

Ah here we go it had to pop up somewhere.

Please explain how your joke isn't fundamentally racist.

      • Well I thought the content, spelling mistake and grammatically incorrect nature of the joke was a play on the Nigerian advance-fee scam, perhaps I was presumptive.

    • +1

      Phonejacker?

      • +1

yes! …at least someone got it hahaha

  • Whats Big Man Tyrone?

    • +1

      Makes testimonials and meme videos

  • +18

    Seems like spam.

    • +9

correct. spam which separates you, with your money

      not very "ozbargain" like

It would be a bargain if HE paid YOU for his nonsense

    • +2

LongJohn vs BigMan sounds like a fight I'd watch.

  • +6

All you haters are foolish guac bowl merchants

  • +31

Can’t believe ozb has become a platform for international spam.

  • +5

Ah ozbargained removed my neg on this trash.

Good to see the admins are looking out for their members then. artificially lowering the negs on blatant crap

    • +3

It removes negs when other community downvotes your neg. Some of the pilchards upvoting this took your neg out

  • +17

Big Man Tyrone videos are perpetually on-sale and are today's equivalent of rug store closing down sales.

  • +4

World be great if BMT replied to all the neg comments with actual videos.

  • Lots of Neggers

    • 12 negs for 61 ups

this entire "deal" should be deleted, its the worst neg ratio ive seen in a long time

    • +3

I read this differently to how I should've

  • +23

What was once a fun 'deal', Big Man has gotten greedy with a 4th deal in 4 months (Monthly almost to the day) after stating in his last deal it was the last one for the year.
This is officially spam & completely devalues your base price.
You say people reach out to you asking for a Promo, that's because no one in their right mind would pay $100 for this.
Do yourself a service and just make $10 your standard price.

    • Or make it $20 year round and do a couple of genuine sales for $10 each year.

  • +16

I must be missing something. Why is this here?

  • 10 bucks i can feed myself ooppss my family

    • Plus dessert bro, it's 10USD

  • +13

Not a fan of dishonest businesses. Never cared too much for BMT content, but businesses need to remain honest. This is just spam at this point

    • +5

Yeah but he did a video about JV so everyone loves him and every final sale he puts up is upvoted 🙄

      • I wondered if JV started to argue against people who neg this deal, will tyrone make a video to complement JV?

  • +13

This does seem like an ad and not a bargain!

  • +9

Straight up advertising. Not a deal.
