Seriously? May 2020, 1650 super only around $250.

    • +17

      Jump in the Delorean then

      • Why would I? I bought the 1650 super at that time with the price.

  • +2

    Ooo Pre-Christmas Fire sale. nice

  • I sold my 1650 super $400 from this deal : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/665268 yesterday

  • +14

    Is this a joke, $400 for a 1650.

      • +19

        Doesnt mean it's a deal.

      • +1

just because the price currently is available close to that number, doesn't make it any less of a joke

a "bargain" would be closer to $250 (and the price history I checked is only Amazon)

        • +12

This deal is priced under all the examples you pose yet still gets a neg?

Not that the card is necessarily worth $400, but if someone wanted one today is anyone able to provide a store that beats this price? Isn't that how Ozbargain works?

          • +1

@Hinee: Nope, if someone bought every graphics card in existence and put them up for 10k each, and they were the lowest price is that a bargain?

Also the links I posted were more for the price history, where for months it has been available under $300

by the same logic, scalpers selling ps5's for 1500 at christmas time when all stock is unavailable would be able to be considered a "bargain". Just because it's cheapest right now doesn't make it a bargain

            • +5

@nibblesh: That's not how ozb works though, the voting guidelines are quite clear.

I know it's not a good price for a good product, but it's technically cheaper than market today.

Your links are valid - telling people it's been historically cheaper.

By your logic, no video card deals should be posted since this whole crypto demand has taken off.

              • +2

@tellhimhesdreaming: Fair call, I'll revoke my neg vote.

But it's still not a deal, For more evidence:

                https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/fpDkcf/gigabyte-geforce-…

Look at the price history (this is the exact same model)

Consistently at $250 since 2020 until april this year where stores jumped the price up to $400, and it likely doesn't have much competition because most stores that sold it at reasonable prices would have sold all of their stock.

                • +3

@nibblesh: Totally agree that it's not a deal man - best we can do is let people know it's not good value for money and you've done that well with your links

I picked up a 1650 super for $250 last year and thought I'd paid a bit much then!

  • +3

I would sooner be a mobile gaming pleb than a $400 1650 buyer.

  • how much ergo can i mine on this?

  • sadly this may be the only option for my HP Prodesk 400 G7 upgrade…..

  • spend a bit more and get the ddr6 version, 10% increase

  • +1

I want to neg the hell out of this because the price is ridiculous for a GTX 1650 but after a quick search it does seem prices are that bonkers for even such an entry level card. Wow.

    • Low profile does also add a bit of value. Most people wont care. But anyone wanting to do a cheap build with an i7 4790 in a SFF office case will likely find this a good match. Definately a big hike off the start of last year… But this is the world we exist in…

  • I bought the exact same one for $250 :D

    • +2

      When and where from?

      • +6

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

      • Mid 2020 from Amazon US.

  • +2

I Hope that Intel can be the Budget GPU Savior early next year

    • don't put your hopes on it… I'd be sooner looking forward to any iGPU that AMD releases on their next gen Ryzens…

  • +4

Wow, this current market sucks for consumers.. I felt somewhat bad for buying an MSI GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X for $299 around this time last year, instead of saving and buying 'next gen', but the more time goes on the better I feel about that decision.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/586448

There was even this deal around a year ago, that I unfortunately missed, 5600 XT with $50 steam card, Godfall and Shadowlands for $375.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/587455

  • Lol, throw in another $500 and you get a full blown laptop.

    Great deal!

  • Nahhhh…..

There are plenty of second hand options that will be as fast as (if not faster) this for less money, unless you must have a half height card

    • Agree, picked up the two below in the last week (Perth) for $300, and $350. Both less than a year old, not mined on, and included box & receipt.

Picked up a RTX3080 Gaming X Trio v1 FHR (4 weeks ago for $1600, boxed inc. receipt). Just need to keep an eye out on the local adverts.

      • How on earth did you pick up a 2060 in late 2021 for $300

        • One was a 17 yrs old guy who had upgraded to a 3070, the other had held on to it as a spare card.

      • Brand new 3080 FHR for $1600? Nice

  • anyone know if 3xxx series will have low profile?

  • This may be a better deal $429 for a DDR6 single fan version

    https://www.amazon.com.au/ASUS-Phoenix-Graphics-DisplayPort-…

    • That is not low profile

      • True

  • +1

ouch, I'd thought the 4GB GPUs wouldn't be so inflated now that they're effectively useless for mining ETH

    • +1

Might be the demand from all the people who got priced out of the >4GB cards

  • +2

Just a note guys, I would not recommend purchasing either of those Gigabyte PSUs. They are known to explode and catch fire, it also has an extremely high failure rate.

  • Just buy the Harvey Norman laptop with rtx 3060

  • $399 for 1650 non-super. Price to performance feels like I'm in 2015 or something.

  • +2

Holy shit this is a garbage deal. If you think tbis is decent either youre a shill or ignorant.

    • Not garbage, to some, you're either gaming or you're not. Just not decent value, at all, but not garbage.
You want garbage, then look at the 900-1200 range. Thems the times we live in.

I say no to and will wait as long as it takes to get back to normality or something resembling it.

  • Normally these cards have GDDR6 RAM
