  • Can I get new number or only port in allow for this offer ?

    • The rep told me that can only use existing number.

      • I signed up for a new service (with new number) this morning, was a current Telstra customer though.

        • Can you then cancel the new number and port in with your old number?

            Sign up to plan with new number on same Telstra account as your existing Telstra service. Jump on chat and ask Telstra to close original service and ask for number to be transferred to new service. Wait with ~4hrs of no reception as Telstra does their thing.

            I'm currently at the section in bold. Took a couple hours to get a response via messaging, but the rep did say that there's no financial penalty incurred doing this. Was advised it could take upto 24 hours to process.

            Couldn't find a link for Telstra live chat anywhere, so had to leave a message and wait for a response.

                Looks sorted now on my online account, although the Telstra rep advised I'd get an email when the process is complete.

                  @The J man: Thank you and yes, the telstra rep told me that's possible as well. Get a new SIM and add long as my old number is out of contract, they'll move the old number into the new SIM.

                  I think they just want to see "new" SIM growth regardless of its a port in from an existing or of contract telstra number.

  • Got to the store a suburban local store @ VIC at around 8:30. Already a couple ppl lining up for this offer.

    Still waiting for the confirmation from Telstra to get the gift card.

  • Parents both just successfully ported back in to Telstra and got the gift cards after only 2 weeks ported out. I personally ported out and back in within a day last JB deal. Think it just depends on the JB person you get if they enforce the 30 day ported out rule or not.

    So, went to JB in Pakenham and they had signs up everywhere for this plan but with a $600 gift card - was there for an hour and a half and get to the final step issuing the gift card and they say "oh that offer isn't available… Only the $500"
    So they rushed off and started pulling down all the flyers all over the store 💀

          • @Nand0sx: Not exactly - he said if you want something now, let me know and we'll just deduct $100 from the cost of it, but the gift card is issued at $500. He said well when you decide what you want, come in and let us know and we'll take off the extra $100 - whether they actually go through with it, who knows

      I was there the same time as you.the guy with the bloke highlights was selling it to me as that and the big fella didn't really deny it but it was gone by the time I paid for my other stuff.i have a picture also but they didn't honour it

      No luck for me so far. Tried a couple of times but got a feeling my luck won't hold up..oh well.

      I also asked JB staff about the $10 credit at two different stores and got different stories about it is not part of this deal and it was for something else.

    • Managed to get it and have received an email confirmation. Rep said he could only do 6 months as that was the only offer available, but I could contact them again when the 6 months are up to get a further 6 months.

      I was happy to take up the 6 months regardless. Was my first try and I wasn't keen on keep trying for a better deal.

      • My partner just got $10 on the first try for the full 12 months. Guess it really depends on the rep you get!

      • Well, I have lucked out. I have tried 5 times and they have made notes into my account on the 3rd attempt. So all the answers I get now are essentially the same - No we do not have this offer. If you used the script earlier, they will tell you to go back instore and talk to JB.

      I got it via chat, and recieved email confirmation. Guy did it immediately, and they didn't say anything about it being shorter, nor does the updated plan pdf say that.

      I had a lot of trouble asking for a "port in" deal, but I did get offered $15 as a general deal.

      I have no idea how easy this will be to claim, but I'm prepared to fight it with the transcript. Maybe try asking for general deals? Best of luck!

        I reckon you might have trouble getting it applied to the JB Hi-fi plan. Worth trying and use the transcript to say that was promised.

          I was expecting the.$10 I'd had previously. But an extra $5 might be nice. I have a sinking feeling it might involve calling Telstra every other month to get it though ;)

  • Signed up at 9:10am from Vodafone and still waiting (3 hours later) just FYI. Have to port over before getting gift card (present drivers license)

    • Quickly call Telstra, last time this happened to me they gave me $5 off the JB plan for my problems and didn’t affect me getting gift card the next day.

  • Ported 2 numbers from Optus and it was done instantly when I was there. Got my gift cards :)

  • Anyone have any luck getting through to a JB HI FI call centre? If so, what number did you use? I'm a close contact atm and can't leave my house to sign up.

    • They don't normally work Sundays. If you can call the store and explain your situation maybe they'll do something?

      They wont sign you up over the phone. They use the old Telsta seller portal that requires manual in person verification.

  • Sign up at JB Capalaba. Ported over from Circles. Still waiting for gift card. Staff advised Circles don't port on Sundays and was told to come back tomorrow.

    • I ported over from Circles this morning. Took about 2.5 hours. Got the gift card today.

      • called Telstra this morning and my order is still provisioning which takes 24-48 hours. after this they will port the number. here we go…

  • Can anyone confirm if signing up with a new number and merging with old telstra number works?

  • Went to Jb hifi adelaide, basically turned away as boost customer and enforced a 30 day rule. Question is if I port out my number today and try get port back in tomorrow/tues (deal will be ongoing here till 30th) do you think it will work? Or are there any other options to keep the existing number?

    • I was thinking about using an e- call forwarding facility.

      Still waiting for telstra to get back to me but I don't think that will happened.

    • You sure it is on until the 30th? The website states 1 day only and it never usually doesn't last more than a weekend in the past.

      I would port out today and try another store if I was you

    • I Did exactly this on a previous deal with success, guy did mention boost but went ahead anyway so maybe I was lucky, also did today's deal and was not asked about 30 day stuff, I ported out of Telstra 2 weeks ago, sounds like you could by a $2 sim, activate, port over, merge accounts, switch number to new sim & terminate other, good luck

  • Anyone have issues today? JB rep told me there was an issue on Telstra's end and now I just have to wait until it processes could be 2/3 days. Once that happens I can come back for gift card.

    • JB staff inputting details on their data base server or something but when pressing submit, it gives an error. He had to photocopy my drivers license and all and I signed piece of paper and said once they fixed it and gone thru, they will send gift card by email. We shall see. I got a feeling I won’t be able to get this plan after all :(

        I asked Telstra, after 3 hours of waiting on the chat they told me to wait a few days and ask again.

  • For the people wondering why it’s taking time to port-in. I recall when I worked in telco a while back that porting is closed on Sundays and public holidays. Not sure if that’s the cases these days but could be a reason why it’s not almost instant

    • I've been told it might take 2 days, that seem accurate?

    This might be too late but I just went to do this at the good guys and they offered me $10 credit per month without me requesting. I believe this is the good guys offer, not store specific.

    1. Is it only for $69 plan or they have an option to get a higher plan with a higher value gift card?

    2. Is the $10 port-in bonus still on?

    Normally they have $400 GC.

      They are open. Just takes a while for them to respond. You can sign in to your account and initiate a chat whiich can get a faster response but this also means they will record the notes into your account.

    Just called JB hi-fi to sign up over the phone and they did advise that this promotion, whilst advertised as ending boxing day - the promotion is running til Thursday 30/12.

    However not sure if that is Thursday inclusive.

  • Can anyone conifrm if they ported out their telstra/boost number and got this deal the same day?

    • Did my wife’s boost number the last time this deal was on a month ago. Ported out to Vodafone in the morning. Ported back to Telstra for the deal in the arvo. JB person didn’t question how long I’d been with Vodafone.

  • Has anyone recently signed up as a new customer (who is already telstra customer) and done the plan swap?

    Old number onto new plan, cancel new number, cancel old plan.

    I did it this time last year, and while it was a hassle via chat. It did work.

    Two things:

    A) those that are waiting for the porting to happen, just double check if you have provided the accurate account holder detail. I was waiting and suddenly remembered that my prepaid number was registered under my missus’s account. Had to go back into store to fix it but the manager was quite nice about it and said this happens all the time.

    B) the manager also said that being able to sign up via call centre was a one-time thing because last time they ran this offer it was during lockdown. Customers ended up having to double up the process (call + going in store to verify ID) so they canned this now.

    • This was so helpful! I realised I gave them an older Optus account number from last year. Will go in store to fix it. Cheers!

      • Glad I could help! It would be shown as an error on their system but they don’t know it until the order is submitted. IE if they didn’t check after a few minutes, they wouldn’t know your order hit an error. Particularly today with some of us being told to wait from home.

  • I got the port in Credit after the rep spoke to his manager, but I have a feeling it’s a one off $10 credit. Do you think they got confused?

    • Did you chat with telstra rep or are you referring to jb hifi rep? I got $69 plan and $500 gift card in store instantly. Came home and initiated chat with telstra rep to apply discount. Telstra rep confirmed she will apply $15 credit until 24 months. My contract ends in 12 months in which case I will port out and back in again to telstra for that sweet $500 gc.

    • My porting took days until the JB guy figured out that the ID verification had failed because I had an incorrect digit on my driver's licence. Worth checking

  • I had my number ported in from Voda yesterday, got GC in JB straight away, was asking for the $10 port in credit in JB store but was told had to speak with Telstra for it, got home setup my Telstra ID and messaged agent support from the Telstra app (didn't call due to Sunday), had no reply, but this morning when I wake up, an agent replied my message (I wrote "port in credit") and advised it's been applied for each month through out the life of the contract
