  • Anyone here able to get through to live chat? It's been taking ages?

    • Took 3+ hours for me, I'm hoping you got a response by around now?

  • In store at jbhifi. Can confirm that the deal is still on until 30/12/21.

  • Went to jb yesterday at 8pm.
Still waiting to be ported monday12pm..

  • +2

Successfully got the $10 port in credit for 12 months through Telstra chat, bringing this deal to $59/month.

Advice: If the chat rep refuses to do it, resolve the chat and try again with another rep. Eventually you'll find someone willing to do it. I signed up for the deal last month and was successful with the first rep. My wife signed up yesterday, the first rep refused the credit but the second rep was willing.

    • Is this via chat in Telstra App or via Website?

      • via the app. Once a enquiry has been marked as "resolved" by yourself or the rep, you can try again.

        • Awesome thanks mate

    • been waiting for hours on the website online chat for someone to answer, now gonna try the app

  • Port in failed due to tech error. Order cancelled just now.

    • who did you port in from and who cancelled the port in?

      • Ported in from Mate Mobile (Telstra network). The order status is shown cancelled in Telstra app.

Just signed up again at a different JB HIFI. Hope I can get it done soon.

        • Oh damn. I'm with Mate too. Was planning to sign up in coming days. Let me know how you go please.

          • @AeyJey: if Mate Mobile is using the Telstra network it will not work, you need to change providers that uses Vodafone or Optus network and try again

            • @michael9865: No. This is false. I used to be with aldi mobile which uses telstra network. I managed to port over and claim the $500 gift voucher.

              • @ruztynail: interesting, that's what I was told, wonder why boost and Belong can't if others can

                • @michael9865: my guess and googled.

                  Boost Mobile partnered with Telstra.
Belong is owned and operated by Telstra as a subsidiary brand.

          • @AeyJey: Telstra rep confirmed the porting will take 3-5 business days.

She also confirmed $15/month credit can be applied once the porting is complete.

I have ported from Mate two years ago and had no issues. The second JB HIFI staff told me they (first JB) should have put "mate number" other than DOB in the porting details.

            • @tc423: Thanks brother. Much appreciated.

              • @AeyJey: Second attempt failed too.

                • @tc423: Oh damn. Did they say any reason ? I was planning to drive into town to do it today. I live 150km away from nearest jb

                  • @AeyJey: Not really. Telstra said due to "technical error". JB said could be a wrong Mate number regardless it's confirmed with mate before.

                    Third attempt just lodged.
                    Let's see.
Will be banned for 30 days if failed this time again.

                    • @tc423: oh right. so sorry to hear that. I wonder if anyone else had the issue. I called mate to confirm the customer number which is slightly different from mate code which 00 at the start. hope it gets sorted today. I might try TGG. they have same offer and i tend to buy most of my gear from them.

                      • @AeyJey: Yeah, that's what we've used for the second attempt. 00+mate number. No luck.

                        • @tc423: I was told not to use the 00 by Mate support.

                          • @AeyJey: Just ported in with mate number

  • Anyone get this from the chat "Thank you for letting me know that! May I also acknowledge you that It is only applied If applicable on your plan. I can see that the system is not allowing to add the $10 discount on your plan".

    • I got, "No we do not have this offer currenlty. You will need to contact JB Hifi in order to claim the promotion"

    • I got:
"Hi there and thanks for messaging.
Welcome to Telstra! I get that you've been told to have a $10 welcome credit for porting in your mobile service to us. For every agreement like this, case number is always being provided to serve as reference. Kindly confirm case number provided so we can take a further look into this for you."

Story of my life - always late to the show 😕

  • Signed up a new account today (Existing Telstra Customer). Data is showing 60GB and Telstra Rep is telling me that's what it's meant to be. The paperwork I got from JB has the 60GB pen ammended to 80GB, so not really any proof to show them.

    • 3rd page of contract states 20gb of bonus data for me

      • Did you get a digital copy of your contract? Or is there somewhere I can view it? Cheers

        • +1

I got a hard copy in store, no digital trail I can see

          • @hrcdan: Ah man I may have messed up. Didn't get a physical copy and the email version says 60GB with no mention of a bonus.
Have been talking to Telstra Reps, even with "Gold" support it is painfully slow and none of them have any idea what I'm talking about. Maybe I'll just leave it, serves me right for not reading the contract properly…

            • @michaelpls: Could send you pic of paragraph but if they call your bluff your details should be on same page, good luck either way, also may show on 1st bill

              • @hrcdan: Thanks for that. I was trying to resolve it and after about 4 transfers they randomly gave me the $10 a month discount without me even asking for it. Left the chat then lol. Will try again for the data later.

  • +1

I asked telstra for $10 port in credit and got $15 for the 12 months. Not sure why. Ported across from Optus whom I was with for 24 months.

  • +2

Successfully ported to Telstra, but VoLTE is missing. It drops from 5G to 3G everytime when I make or receive calls. Contact centre and Chat can not help with it. Anyone have clue with VoLTE?

    • +1

Facing the same issue, perhaps it takes a while to install all the carrier settings.

      • I just visited 3 different Telstra store in Sydney and none of them have clue what the VoLTE is. So all of call centre, chat rep and physical store can not help with this lol. What a joke! I have also tested different SIM on my device and my Telstra SIM on other devices.

Also my Optus SIM is still active?? It can call and use data as per normal while Telstra SIM is also active… WTF..

        • +1

Hahaha same here! IDK what the hell is going on but this should never happen.

EDIT: Optus sim died, could have been a nice party trick.

    • me too, I'm asking chat now for help… was working perfectly before I ported out :/

  • has anyone any luck signing up with this offer today 27/12?

    • +1

I signed up today and was told the promo will run till 30/12.

      • Great thanks for the update

  • +1

Signed up to the plan 4pm yesterday @ JB HiFi, my number has still not been ported (from Optus) nor have I received the $500 gift card yet. However, a Telstra support rep has confirmed that I will receive the port-in credit of $10-15 for 12 months after the number gets successfully ported.

    • Same from Optus & gc, rest is good to know

  • can anyone recommend any stores in Syd where they aren’t firm on the 30 days?

  • I signed up on boxing day and my number hasn't been transferred.

Re 80gbs they advertised it that way so I imagine they will need honour it right?

Re port in credit, I haven't tried yet until my number has migrated. People had much success re this?

  • Signed up yesterday at 11, still haven’t ported over from Optus..

  • signed up on 26 Dec 8pm.. still not ported yet till now from optus as well

  • Same. Did it two days ago somewhere between 10am to 11am. On aldi mobile. Still stuck with aldi. Very frustrating. Got 9 more days to the next payment to aldi.

Deal completed, while being an existing Telstra Customer…I did the following:

    1) Go in store, ask for a brand new number on your existing telstra profile.

    2) Go home jump on Telstra chat (through the contact us webpage, click message us, and click continue without sign in), and ask for $10pm discount on the plan… "I heard a friend got a $10pm discount on a new plan they signed up for, can you please do the same for me"…. this got actioned. If it doesn't close the chat and try again with a different person.

    3) Start a new Telstra chat, and ask for the following, (note: this took me a few tries to explain what I wanted to do, but the below language seemed to work finally):

"I signed up for a new number and service (NEW NUMBER HERE) that expires in 2022. I want to keep the SIM and SERVICE. All I want to do is MOVE my number (OLD NUMBER HERE) to this new service. You can then subsequently cancel the SIM that was originally associated with (OLD NUMBER HERE), and then cancel the number (NEW NUMBER HERE). So in the end.. I have ONE service, and ONE number…. that is (OLD NUMBER HERE) with a plan that expires in 2022."

They will then disconnect your old service first… your number is quarantined for 1 month, so no risk of it being stolen by someone else. Then they move the number across.

    4) Profit…with your $500.

    Hope that helps!

    • I did this last year on boxing day so my plan is completed.. I went into jbhifi on boxing day and they were adament I won't get my number back .. haha and no $10 month discount.. maybe they had a lot of people to deal with I'm not sure.. I'm glad someone's had success thanks for sharing your info

    • I've just finished doing this for the third year in a row. First 2 years was 2 services, this time 3 services. Now to try and get the $10 credit!

    • 2) <—— This worked a charm, thanks Kiwi

      • +1

What about me?! I mentioned this method back on page 2! :P

But also thanks to Snake for reminding me to apply for the $10 credit, which I managed to get on each of the 4 services I did this switch with ;)

        • +1

          Thank you as well :)

  • Got the deal 11am Boxing Day, just ported over from optus now, heard Telstra had porting problems some told up to 3 days, now to try for port in credit

    • Also got $10 port in credit 1st go, was away from Telstra 2 weeks and have other boost accounts

  • Did this deal with my wife on the 26th at around 5 pm. We actually went to a couple of JB’s before but were too crowded.

Went to a The Good Guys and the deal was done in 30 minutes, port-in done within that time and received both $500 GC in the following 15 minutes.

  • Finally ported in after 3 attempts.

    $15 credit added as well.

Hi xxxxx, Thanks for waiting. I already submitted your request to add the $15 credit for 12 months for your new Port in plan. Your reference number is xxxxx.Order number is xxxxxx for the $5 for 12 months and Order number xxxxx for the $10 for 12 months.

This is now reflect on your next bills.

    • the port in credit is done by telstra right not jb ?

      • +1

Thats good news man. Glad you got it sorted. im gonna drive in very soon.

    • how do you check if it's just a one-off or continuous as I got a text saying $15 was credited to my account but the agent said it is monthly unsure how to confirm this

      • I received two emails saying the above two discount.

    • Did they do anything different in the third attempt. Mine got cancelled on the first attempt as well.

      • used "mate code" (no zeros)

        • Same head ache. They tried again got cancelled. Now the mobile service is not with mate as they are saying its been ported and its not with telstra. my mate mobile is still active though.

          • @AeyJey: Same, not available via Mate app but service is still active. Probably call mate support line and get them talk to JB staff directly.

  • +1

Confirming that I too signed up to a new number and then ported the service to my old Telstra number. Got rejected the first time but successful at a later time.

  • Popped into Hurstville JB to try my luck getting the $500 gc without porting in initially as I'm still currently a Prepaid subscriber, but didn't work.
Tempted to try again tomorrow if there's a different attendant.

  • Also commenting on the JB post to hopefully help others - ported over yesterday at TGG Brisbane from Aldi, received gift card and $10 off per month until recontract today, just say you were told by the store rep to contact Telstra after plan activation to have it added to your account.

  • This is what telstra advised me..

Thanks for waiting XXX, upon checking with my team the best that we can apply is $10 credit x 12 months.

Since this is a JB Hifi plan, we don't have a way to apply the credit on a monthly basis since your contract is locked for 12 months.

So what we will do is to manually credit $120 one-time credit which will compensate to $10 credit x 12 months. The credit will be added to your existing account that can be use to pay on your future bills. Will you accept that?

  • Thanks OP - great deal, esp with the extra 20 gigs data. Signed up today. Port completed from Optus four hours later.

Thank God I didn't wait around the shopping centre as they urged me to, though it's a bit surprising that they can't email you the gift card and you have to return instore to collect.

Whole process seemed a bit odd too, with another lass who was signing up (albeit using her $500 to put towards a new Iphone purchased instore as well) was put through the whole employment and bill serviceability check, whereas once served - ten minutes after her - my process was a lot quicker and I finished before she had. May just have been due to the phone purchase, but it seemed odd that she was getting queried on earnings and employment history when nothing was asked of me.

For the record, the guy serving her said that the promo had to be advertised as one day only, but would probably run until Dec 31.

    • +1

If you've been with telstra before and they have a profile on you, you likely don't need to go through the whole history thing - that's what the guy told me anyway m

      • Makes sense. Cheers!

        • No problemo

      • I was with this plan since October last year, jumped out to Optus and went back yesterday 4pm, still waiting my number to be ported out….. 🥲

  • +2

Yeah, it works. i’ve contacted Telstra support to ask for $10/month welcome credit and they approve it immediately. So, final price is $59/month for 12 months.

    • How did you contact them?

      • +1

Through Telstra App. Here’s the conclusion reply from the agent.

______, thank you for your patience, we have approved for $10/month for 12months discount, your bill will be slightly lower next month and moving forward it's your JB Hi-Fi & The Good Guys Mobile BYO Plan $69 minus your $10 off for the remaining of the 12months.

        • Thanks for the info. Will give it a crack.

  • +1

Just a tip. For me I waited for a few days. Then I contacted the Telstra rep today and they said just pop the new Telstra SIM in…
    Ported right away. facepalm

  • Has anyone got sucessed from coles mobile to port in?

    • Yep. It was almost instant. Did it on 28 Dec

  • Quick Update:

Yesterday Telstra gave me the $10 welcome credit for 12 months. I check the Telstra app this morning and they have taken away my bonus 20GB of data. I have contacted support and after about 20 minutes of chatting, they have stated that they will give me the 20GB of data including the $10 welcome credit. I am yet to receive the confirmation email/SMS which they said may take up to 24 hours to receive.

    • Life was so much easier when I had my simple prepaid mobile subscription.
  • +1

    Hey,
So I just signed up to the $69/month $500gift card deal.
Spoke to Telstra chat about $15 port-in and linked the Telstra site:

    https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/sim-only-15-offer

I told them a staff member said I would get $15 port in.

They said it wasnt eligible because jbhifi deal is different but they applied $10 credit per month and a $60 credit to the account ($5*12 months)

I was lucky to get this on first chat.
Just be friendly and keep trying

  • +2

I ported from Optus on the 26th and it went through 2 days later. I got onto Telstra live chat right away and just said I needed the boxing day credit ($15 a month) applied on my account. They just said it will be applied by the next billing cycle. I think I got lucky with it on the first try.
At least I have the chat saved in case its not there next month.

    • +1

      Same here!

  • Signed up for a new service today and got the $10/month credit first go through chat. What’s this $15/month credit? Did I stuff up? Lol.

  • Wait….is it still available? The post says the expiry date is 30/12/2021, but I thought it ended on 26/12?

    • +1

Although the banners state that its a boxing day only special, the promotion is actually available until the 30th. I signed up for it on the 27th and was told by the JB rep that its still running, even though it is not being advertised.

      • Cheers! Got my wife to sign up today too!

  • +2

For a second year I successfully signed up for a new Telstra number at JB and got the live chat to cancel my old service and move my old number to the new service. So much easier than buying a sim, porting out and hoping the JB employee doesn't tell you to leave and wait 30 days.

    • Same. All done first go through chat.

    • Nice one! So JB allow you to signup without having to port in? Saves me having to buy a burner prepaid SIM card.

      • Yes just ask for a new service. They'll add it to your Telstra ID.

  • -1

    Does this work with Belong?

  • I remember last year the promotion went up to $600 after the new year.
