  • Signed up on the 27th (ported over from Amaysim) and spoke to the Telstra rep (via Livechat) on the 29th. I told them that I was promised a $10 per month port in credit by the JB rep, and after a bit of back and forth the Telstra rep happily applied it for me. Being nice seems to work!

Wish I had pushed for $15…

  • Signed up this morning with a new number, had an existing telstra number on a month to month plan, I intended to do a swap in plans via chat but its proving difficult as they are saying my month to month plan is on a different system to the JB HIFI plan, I will continue to try via live chat.

  • Ported from Vodafone prepaid, and came across almost instantly. Just spoke to live chat this morning asking for the $15 credit.

First time was unsuccessful, told me to contact JB myself and gave me a link.

Second time, I had better luck and was given the $15/month credit - then got a SMS saying it will appear on 'one of your next two bills'.

    • Update: Just checked my email and they sent me an updated order form that shows $10 credit only.

  • Does this work for business customers?

  • I got the GC, ported and have no service where I am, even though coverage map says otherwise.

Any other offers around with Optus resellers please?

  • My experience (previous JB contract just ended):
    - JB store, no worries adding service, were well aware of what people are doing
    - Telstra shop (in person), wouldn't help, said they'd been told off by Corporate for doing it in the past, so knew how to do it & could do it, but wouldn't. They were polite and well aware what people were doing, but hands were tied
    - Telstra Live Chat, success first time closing old service and moving number to new service

  • My VoLTE isn't working either, sadly.

    • Hmm, yes, lost it too (or at least the indicator). They say can take up to 4 hours, so will check it tomorrow.

      • Mine works again. I messaged through Telstra app, they transferred me to a “technical support for further support”. They just kept me on seen for an hour but it works now after resetting network settings on my iPhone.
The indicator isn’t there but calling on 4/5g definitely works

      • Update: My VoLTE icon is showing up again, without action. So took about a week from activation!

Okay so finally resolved my issue.Optus gave me the run around before I ported.

Once I confirmed with telstra, my port took 10 minutes. Moreover I jumped on the chat function and asked for port credit. Got the $10 by telling him it was being done for others in store. He wanted to only make the discount for 12 months I told him I would cancel after 12 months if he did that so he made it ongoing. Onya Jessie good going!

Went into jb today, signed up for $69 plan with 80 gb of data and $500 GC. Wasn’t advertised. Porting from Woolies mobile. Took around 2 hours. Talked to Telstra Iive chat through app and asked for $15 port in credit. Surprisingly got it first go. Credit applied for lifetime of contract.

    • You have done well!

So just to confirm, $15 per month discount ongoing indefinitely… not just for standard 12mths? I also thought $10 was the best port in credit offered… apparently not? As others have mentioned, it just seems so discretionary and depends who you happen to get via chat app!

If you managed to get $15 off a month ongoing, everyone will be scrabbling to contact Telstra for the same! :)

      • Just 12 months cause hoping to jump on it again. Saw $15 port credit mentioned in this post so gave it ago. Also Telstra website shows all plans with a $15 discount.

  • I'm a newbie to regularly cycling phone plans for the best deal. I signed up 3 x plans yesterday (myself and the kids) to get the 1.5K of JB Hi-Fi vouchers.

Given this was a Boxing Day promo (which was extended for a few days), how does everyone work it to take advantage of next year's promos, as it's a 12mth plan and you have to port out for minimum 30 days?

    • For the first time this year I signed up for new services and rolled my old numbers over via chat. Took a few days but worked eventually.

      • AH OK so that is how you do it… new service then move your old number to the new service. Thanks for the advice!

  • Just received the first bill. Talking with Telstra now since I only saw $5 credit.

Telstra said the system only accepts 1 discount (cannot be $5+$15). She will try again and with options if it fails.

    • telstra unable to apply $10+$5 credit combo. Instead, applied $10 discount for 12 months and $60+$10 one off discount.

    • So you got $20 credit? I thought $15 is the limit.

        work on your math

        • $5*12months=$60.

          • @tc423: So all up you got the $15 per month discount for 12mths (same as jaeewon's port in credit, although it seems applied differently)?

How many other ozbargainers managed to get $15 not just $10 off per month? What line did you use?

            • @InfinityandBeyond: i was able to get 15$ off. I just told the chat that "the folks at JB-hifi told me that i am eligible to get 15$ credit".
Haha, but i must say the Telstra guy would have been feeling generous that day.

      • I just got off the chat with the first Telstra agent requesting the port in credit for my fresh sign-up and they applied $10 credit to both the new sign-up and my existing account. Was expecting to be knocked back a few times i'll take it.
This was what the confirmation message she sent:

Thank you for staying connected along with me, I have successfully provided you with $10 credit for 12 months for both the number ending with 6xx and 1xx, the credit will be applied from the next month billing cycle. Please note down the reference number : 27641xxx. Does this resolve your enquiry and is there anything else I can help you with before I let you go about your day?

  • Does anyone know if Telstra charges a port-out fee on post-paid plans (like this)? I recall that they used to, but not sure if they still do.

From a quick look at their postpaid T&C it does not mention a port-out fee.

    • +1

No they don't (obviously only if you're not in contract)

  • I have started to live chat a Telstra rep to fix the fact it is showing up that i only have 60gb instead of 80gb and this is what they tell me….

"Yeah, I can actually see that it is a JB Hifi Plan. How did you get this plan because usually, if it is from them. They should be the one to provide it. While it's good that we are confident you are being supported by our network, JB Hi-Fi has offers on their own that requires to be applied on their system. JB Mobile plans are just powered by Telstra. It uses Telstra Network but they do have their own promos and plans."

Am I crazy for thinking this is a Telstra issue?
