      Try TGG?

      • 🤑 woot hoot

        Thanks mate. Cheers

  • This or C1 65"?

    $3000 budget
    70% netflix and 30% ps5
    2.7 to 2.9m viewing distance
    I have apple TV 4K 2021

    Thank you!

    • +1

I have this tv and think it's great. The extra size to me is worth it. Vrr isn't enabled yet which is annoying but aside from that it's very good

      • +3

I picked this one up from Costco and yes it’s very bright and big, so if your room has lots of natural light then this is the right TV but if your viewing area is mostly dark then the C1 would be the way to go just be careful with burn in (and yes bigger is better 👍)

    • +1

I would go larger for $3000 budget.

    • -2

      The X95J is better

      • +3

OLED is better. But what exactly is the point you’re trying to make? What’s better is relative to everyone individual taste, financial situation and/or their frugality. Moot point really.

        • +1

Not a moot point at all…
The X90J is just a re-branded X900H from last year and same TV but more expensive that you recommend.
TheX95J is the next model up from the X90J and both are LCD…the X95J has superior local dimming and black levels with less blooming. Yes it costs a little more but it's definitely worth it if your staring at that screen for several years to come….
I think you may be confusing the A90J Oled with the X95J LCD…
The X95J is Sony's flagship LED LCD and comparative to Samsung's qn90a

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Next up model always better

            • -3

@superforever: The problem I have with the X90J is there's quite a substantial jump in tier quality to the X95J..and the X90J is essentially last years X900H that's been re- badged to look new

              • +1

                @[Deactivated]: It's not. It's not even the same chipset. You're thinking X85J.

Also, the X95J is not 'a little more expensive'. It's considerably more expensive in the same size. 2.8K for the 75" in this deal vs over 4K for the 75X95J just about anywhere.

                • @educalifa: Speaking of chipsets new Mediatek SOC Pentonic2000 inbound on 2022 models..
So VRR will be sorted next year and Sony don't need to promise anything this year as the HDMI2.1 spec has essentially changed

    • thanks guys I will go for this

    • -5

Just so your aware the Sony X90J is a re-branded X900H from last year…nothing new just a different name

      • +4

It's not. It's not even the same chipset. You're thinking X85J.

      • +1

The X90J can resolve full resolution 4k@120hz unlike the X900H

        • -1

Yeah I wouldn't touch it myself..the X95J is a huge leap up in PQ and performance at the same level of a Samsung qn90a…

        • Pretty sure the X900H received a firmware update to fix that….but again the TV look horrible in game mode anyway with local dimming taking a hit and everything looking greyish and washed out….
The X95J or Sony's Oleds fair much better for gaming with deeper rich black levels and performance

          • @[Deactivated]: It is still half the vertical resolution with the latest firmware v6.1534. They might fix it in the future but I doubt it. If you don’t game at 4k@120hz then the X900H is still a good tv for the price but I returned mine for the A80J.

            • @Magical Sound Shower: I don't game anyway but my kids do. If I did I wouldn't be too concerned especially considering I think there's almost zero games that officially support native 4k at 120hz at least on console

              • @[Deactivated]: Once “true” next gen kicks in with unreal engine 5 no game besides some platformers and racing/sports games will have native 4k@120

                • @Griffindinho: Yeah if your a stickler for graphics and performance you way better off investing in a PC build rather than buying multiple consoles..
There will be no doubt be console mid- gen refreshes at some stage

            • +2

              @Magical Sound Shower: Yeah same, swapped my 90H for a C1 & it's like night & day.

    • Buy the OLED, move it closer to you.
With a bigger (wider) TV table, it doesn't look out of place & gets you an extra 50cm+ screen to face.

      • Hands down best bang for your buck is the Sony 65" A80J at $3495..if your purchasing a TV to last at least a few years and want quality that is the one and worth every penny

        • $3320 at Bing Lee on ebay makes it even better… but you need to have the room for it. On a bright room with multiple windows/light sources it would be wasted.

          • @educalifa: Not sure what you mean. The OLED C1/80J each push 800nits (C1 will push 850 with a small hack), which is quite a bit more than the LED 90J.

            • -1

@Unsafe: No that hack you speak of has been patched out and there's a software restriction even if it is a EVO on the C1…any hack would void a warranty too btw

              • @[Deactivated]: I'm not really sure what you mean, the hack is possible under the current & most recent firmware. It simply increases the max nits to G1 levels…LG ain't gonna spent money writing a second script, or producing a 2nd panel type.
Do you work for LG? Does it void the warranty or is it reversible?

                • -1

@Unsafe: It voids the warranty and will reduce the lifespan of the panel..I wouldn't buy an EVO without a heatsink myself that's why I got the A90J

        • +1

Nah…the 80J uses the LG panel from the C1, which is $2880 at JB atm - that's the better deal by quite a bit.

          • @Unsafe: Panel is only part of it, it's the chipset that really makes or breaks the picture and in that department Sony's new chip is head and shoulders above the competition.

I'm not knocking the C1 but even with the hack it's picture quality is not as good as the A80J. There's even an argument that when it comes to picture quality alone it's actually not even better than the X95J which not OLED.

Also, WebOS is nowhere near as responsive nor does it offer as much 'freedom' to get your own apps as GoogleTV. They have only just released the Kayo app after years of customers asking for it.

Speakers on the A80J are also a lot better than the ones on the C1.

            • @educalifa: Doesn’t do proper VRR (unlike C1), A80J has slightly better motion and black levels at just above black. Not really ‘head and shoulders’ ahead tho.

            • @educalifa: Image processing by the chip only helps when upscaling, which is what the Sony X1 processor is good at. Better than the LG's.
However, image processing kept to a minimum is exactly what you're after if you're playing 4K media and in this day & age, 4K media is the norm, rather than the exception.
If you're talking gaming, as long as it does all HDMI 2.1 functions, then there's no difference. Unfortunately, Sony falls behind in this aspect & it's a massive problem. If you're after 120hz VRR, LG finally does it straight out the box. Well, after the obligatory firmware update. But make no mistake, Sony promises these "upgrades" and never (yes never) delivers. I just got rid of my 90H after 13 months of ownership & the broken promise of 120hz VRR. Sony's 2nd & final firmware update addressing these two items resulted in FALD being switched off for them to be enabled! This was laughable. Check youtube for for some footage if you think this is not a big deal.
I don't know who argues that any LED image is better than that of an OLED. I'm sure someone will argue it, but unless it's you, get real.
Speakers are speakers and I'd take the worst and plug in a sound bar that I bought with the $500 I saved.
WebOS is unintuitive. GoogleTV is intrusive. It's all about which flavour of crap you prefer & is opinion only, but can be rememdied with a stick of X brand.

              • @Unsafe: I agree that LG is definitely the better choice if you're a gamer but that's about where it ends. The X1 is better in all senses, not only at upscaling. Movies in general look better on the Sony higher end models than on any LG I have ever seen. And I'm not the only saying this… there are heaps of comparos/reviews you can find online and the vast majority support what I'm saying.

Of course there's always a level of personal preference, and if you prefer the LG there's nothing anyone can say that will change your mind.

As for the speakers, good luck finding a decent soundbar for $500 or less. Soundbars at that price point are mostly for ppl who prefer a higher volume than the TV can produce, not better quality.

GoogleTV is hardly intrusive. You can tailor it to be anything you want it to be. Switch off Samba and etc or even opt to not sign in to a Google account. World is your oyster.

                • @educalifa: I prefer the best deal & providing OP with the clearest information. Inferring that I prefer LG is about as good as the ambiguity & opinion you have provided - unhelpful.
Stick to the facts & a bargain will prevail ;)
                  Merry Xmas.

                  • @Unsafe: I have provided nothing but facts… the A80J is a better tv. You might not like it but it is. Paying less for a lesser product is not a bargain.

                  • @Unsafe: Merry Xmas!

          • @Unsafe: Yeah I've checked the JB deal and everything is on backorder in my area…
I mean they're happy to take my money but I'd be waiting well into mid January for delivery…
Also the C9 was a brighter panel than the C1,only difference is a gimmicky game bar and worse homepage that covers the entire screen

            • @[Deactivated]: Yeah I think a lot of C1's got sold on BF. I'm surprised JB is still advertising. TGG have them sold out until March or so in WA & they're JB's sister company.
Thank you for the C9 trivia…

              • @Unsafe: Yeah and March is when the C2 is expected to arrive with a new processor

                • @[Deactivated]: Hope yopu got $4000+ saved by then for that new processor.

                  • @Unsafe: No the LG Oleds are getting cheaper every year..I paid almost $4000 for a 55" CX ..
Samsung are releasing Oled's and QD-Oleds in 2022…
LG are targeting mid-range market where Samsung and Sony going premium is the trend…
I won't buy another Oled now unless it has a heatsink

                    • @[Deactivated]: The C1 has hit $2880 finally, as part of BF & now boxing day sales, many months after release. Sure OLED tech is no longer cutting edge, but lets be realistic, new models always burn the fingers.
$4000 is more than fair, check back in March…or find the C1 somewhere now & save a bunch.

                      • @Unsafe: I'm surprised there's not many open box or return C1's as the panel lottery was a LEGIT thing this year…
guess people don't know what to look for when it comes to screen uniformity and dead pixels or can't be bothered with shipping it back

                        • @[Deactivated]: I haven't heard about that, but I don't doubt you, delivering a 65" OLED panel for 3 grand, there's bound to be panel issues. Or maybe 3K for a 65" OLED involves a relatively low cost to the manufacturer, now that its common tech. I really don't know which end of the scale to look at it from. Mine has no issues & once you open the box, there's no way you'd return it unless it was faulty.

                          • @Unsafe: The Sony's have a much more strict QC process and they literally throw the bad ones out.LG just ships them out as is hoping consumer's don't pick up on it..
LG worldwide have a huge surplus of panels particularly in the US hence the massive sales campaign where Sony have barely budged in price

                            • @[Deactivated]: LG manufactures the panel for Sony, so Sony would be throwing 0% away with panel issues.
Sony paying LG for the panels would mean they could never undersell LG, unless they sold at a loss. I'd be guessing Sony sell thier OLEDs as cheap as they can from day one, simply to maintain relevence & thier (slipping) brand as a tech-leader.

                              • @Unsafe: That's your theory but I actually have a close relationship with those in the retail sector abroad who actually know and work with Sony and its employees

                                • @[Deactivated]: OK, I get that your saying I'm incorrect & that you know this based on information you've got from your mates and colleagues who are stakeholders of Sony's. So which point/s am I wrong on?
Sony throw away panels with manufacturing defects instead of returning them to LG?
Sony buys LG's panels cheaper than LG can manufacture them for?
Or Sony is making a large profit on each unit?

                                  • -3

@Unsafe: I have a deeper knowledge of TV's and manufacturers than most here on these forums. You would be surprised how many on here don't even know what a professional calibration, screen uniformity or accuracy even is…they just see a cheap deal in $$$

                                    • @[Deactivated]: OK pal. I like a bit of back & forth on these forums, with an end to either getting some new information, or until I smell BS.
You my friend provide no new information.
                                      Merry Xmas.

                              Not a bad price.

                              • @Unsafe: I have a 65" C9,55" CX and a 65" A90J…
                                I'm good

@Unsafe: Sony's XR processor is light year's ahead of LG'S

  • Love mine. Paid $2000 for it. Zero regrets.

    • How? Was it a seconds from Sony eBay?

      • Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was. Still in box with plastics on the set, but box was a bit crushed on one corner.

    • How did you get it for 2k?

      • +1

        It fell of a truck

    • Paid $2000 for it. Zero regrets.

$2000 for 75" of course zero regrets

  • +1

its a really great LED TV, impressive black for LED level and IQ is bright sharp and colour accurate. The only cons I can comment on is that the android system is still not as snappy as other TV OS, and I'm generally disappointed with Sony's firmware updates which are often buggy and they promised to get VRR update out by end of the year, there's one week left of 2021, where are you Sony?

    • Did they promise VRR though?
I thought that was for last year's X900H which has already received it but limited to 60hz and not worth even using..
HDMI2.1 certification has changed now too and VRR is not a requirement

      • they said something about bringing VRR to XR models (2021 models including x90j) somewhere. VRR is never a requirement its just very useful to have for current gen gaming which targets 60fps or even 120fps in some games, VRR can make a huge difference when there are frame drops.

        • I really hope they do but tbh I'm not really noticing the lack of VRR on my A90J and that's previously coming from both a C9 and Cx…
Sure it would be nice to have but LG'S implementation was causing flicker and its only really relevant to 120fps games which usually sacrifice visuals…
Most 120fps games have a performance and graphics option and I only use 120fps on Cod

rang TGG sales and they offered me the x90j 75 inch for $2560 a deal which i took right away. for click and collect

    • Wow..great deal..what the local store number or national ?

    • Can I save 100 dollars more, by cancelling my order with Sony and calling TGG sales?

      • the best boxing day ever…

        • did it work for you as well ?

          • @AeyJey: I just got excited before even properly trying. I will try tomorrow perhaps.

            • @chaosemcee: I called them up. There was nil stock in my local store and wasn't able to order it for delivery due to massive back order. He gave me $150 off from C1 price. Which I'm debating what to do..

    • It would be great if you could share a screenshot your receipt!

yeah got it here, sorry if im paranoid with the editing lol — i actually got it for $2545 but was too scared to say i got it that cheap.
i dunno seemed like such a good deal i wasnt sure if the sales guy would get in trouble or something. im pretty sure its a national sales call place, i dont think it put me in touch with my local store but could be wrong. im regional qld btw.

i basically rang up looking for the 75" nano91 and was wondering why they were for sale yet couldnt find them available at any store in australia both on jbhifi and tgg website.

i really wanted the lg but i mentioned i was considering the x90j and he said he could $2545 and i said yes sir very quickly. then the mrs wanted a new oven too which was on sale for $999 but he did it for $800.

feels good to get a win.

        • Thank you!
Yes, this is such a memroable Boxing Day that you can talk about it for the whole next year! Cheers!

        • Thank you very much, coulstee. My local JB store agreed to price match. Happy days!

        • +1

Thanks for your tip mate. I just got it for $2395.00 + delivery from tgg phone sales (on backorder, delivery sometime in Jan).

          • @sph3re: Wow, can you share the receipt please. Will try price matching with Sony.

          • @sph3re: What did you say to get it that cheap?

            • +2

@mandelbrot: me: "Hmmmm, not sure I want to wait until end of Jan…"
tgg: "I'll give you even a better deal…"

              Now I regret not buying 2 :D

              • @sph3re: End of Jan is a long time. Are you able to cancel the order between now and then before delivery?

                • @mandelbrot: Don't see a reason why I would want to, but never had an issue with them before. also used paypal to pay that invoice so can always resort to dispute etc if needed

                  • @sph3re: He's the good guy.

                  • +1

@sph3re: I called GG phones sales this morning. They said they can't do it for that price. They've had a few people call this morning asking the same thing and referencing the same docket number. Bummer

                    • @mandelbrot: Can they at least do $2,545?

                      • @delfredo: Nope. Best price was $2695 (same price as ebay - 10% off their current listed price)

                      • @delfredo: I suggest just pick it up…

                    • @mandelbrot: That price is almost 65inch price… someone did something wrong i reckon.

It might be that price come next easter.

  • Any idea the width of the TV stand? As I understand it is possible to put it in two ways one is narrower

  • Thanks
Does anyone have any recent sale price for the 65 X90J ?

  • Thanks for this deal!

    I picked up 2~!

I also got this bracket from amazon to match…. $106…. don't pay triple elsewhere… holds 60kg

Got this today at Good Guys instore, did the whole "3 weeks is a long time to wait" to get extra $300 off plus delivery which matches the Sony Ebay deal plus 10%off that I missed out on. Surely can go lower.

    • what did you end up paying in total ?

      • $2695 including shipping :)

        • nice buy!
i’m trying to get the 65” under $1900

          I’ll keep searching!

        • Did they know the eBay deal already expired?
I might try to give them a call today and get one.
