  • Thanks got one.

Yeah nah. Got one of these and the locking mechanism in the back doesn’t work very well.

Mine 4 pairs work fine, perhaps yours are faulty?

  • +9

Already have four 9-inch and one 16-inch version of these tongs. Doesn't hurt to have two more 12-inches. The quality on these are second to none and are made to last.

"Doesn't hurt to have two more 12-inches"

      "are made to last."

      how many hands do you have? (4 + 1 + 2)

  • Nice find OP

  • +1

Hi all, does anyone regularly chuck theirs in the dishwasher? I find almost always the rivet is aluminium and thus erodes over time and they fall apart :(

    • +2

I've had like 5 pairs and always put them in the dishwasher no issues. :(

    • +1

The cheap ones always fail at the rivet these ones last much longer I always put mine in the dishwasher, nearly 3 years old now used at least twice a week

    • Thanks both!

    • +3

I had the same issue with the Bunnings one and got a couple of stainless steel bolt and nut to replace the rivet and they've going strong since. The one from Bunnings is quite decent indeed.

      • Epic! A fix rather than a throwaway… thx never thought of repairing…

      • Inspired me to repair an old pair!

    • Dish washed them forever.

      100% no issue.

      The best kitchen tongs.

    • For what it’s worth I ended up buying a few pairs of this one ($10 at the time, also needed a slightly more compact model):
      SAVANNAH SAV-1014 Premium Tongs 18/8, 24cm, Stainless Steel https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07BVMQ6NF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_g…

Arrived today - quite heavy gauge and the rivet is stainless steel and a “solid mushroom” on both sides (opposed to a “hollow mushroom” on one side)

Didn’t know tongs would be such the conversation topic!

  • Balloon whisk alao down to $11, normally over $20. Picked one up aswell

  • +3

Nylon grip ones are down to $12

    here

    • Thats a 9 inch and this one is 12 inch.
      If Size matters.

Thanks for this. Got this instead of the one OP posted. I have a pair already and I use this on the frying pan a lot and don’t want to scratch the non stick surface.

      • +1

Get silicone head ones instead imo. Less chance of accidental meltings and can be used on the BBQ too (coated grills).

Mine aren't OXO but are still going pretty well.

    • Thanks

  • +5

I have like 47 pairs and I always put mine in the dishwasher and have had no problems except the dishwasher is now full. Any deals on dishwashers OP?

  • +2

Every dad in front of a bbq ever: better give em a few test clicks, just in case.

  • -2

    You'd need a good grip for a 12"

  • +2

OXO make quality products. Have these and very smooth and sturdy tongs

  • thanks for sharing op! have purchased one

  • Dispatches in one to two months.

    Ozbargained already?

  • Have the 9" and can't fault them. OXO do a great quality product!

  • Some tongs are made in a way that you end up clamping your fingers towards the pivot end, does this do that'/

  • OOS

    • just got one for $10.60 under "other buying options"

      • Used condition.

  • +1

We grabbed a 12" on previous special, but found it a bit long for use in the kitchen (but about spot on for a BBQ). Just recently got a 9" that seems great for the kitchen.

  • my issue with most tongs is the flex. a lot of the bunnings ones seem wider/flatter and you can bend them simply by squeezing too hard. how do these go in that respect?

    • +1

I have the silicone coated one and it has zero flex.

Really strong and solid, best pair of tongs I've had so far.
