    8gb ram, pass.

    • This is good enugh for a high school student, if you pay with Home Gift Card bought from this deal, the final price would be $1070.

Maybe this one is worth the upgrade for 16GB RAM

Will this laptop be good enough for web browsing and general productivity, I mainly only want to use it for reading/movies, no gaming. Anyone know how many nits the screen is?
Or should I fork out another 1k for the spectre.

Tho I’m still abit hesitant to get a new laptop since I heard 12th gen is right around the corner???

    • The Lenovo website lists the '82BH00DBAU model as

      14.0" FHD (1920x1080) IPS 300nits Glossy, 72% NTSC, AGC Dragontrail Glass, 10-point Multi-touch

    • Danneo, I have the the one you posted. Paid $1650 with 3 years warranty about 6 months ago(throguh lenovo education portal). It's extremely good at this price. It's great for reading and watching movies, the battery lasts 8 hours with HEAVY usage. it has enough power to run some 3D modelling software, so for you usage its fine. The 300 nits is plenty, I read inside and outside with no issues at all

I highly recommend this laptop at this price, you wont be disappointed.

      • That’s great! How’s the fan noise?

        • I dont even hear it during normal use, I barely notice it when im using CPU intensive programs. I forgot to mention earlier, the pen that comes with it is also fantastic for annotating etc. I use it daily with uni

          • @Snowfiend: Cheers for the reply mate, am really sold on this laptop but what’s stopping me is whether to wait for 12th gen or not. Even then it’ll be awhile to find a good deal I guess

            • @Danneo: 12th gen will be pricey as all new gen are, probably won't be discounted for awhile either. If you're using it for just basic Web use and movies you won't even need the next gen tbh. The 12th gen of this will most likely be $2300-$2600 for a small performance gain.

              Best of luck with it!

              • @Snowfiend: Did you change any settings to make the fans quiet? I like it silent but not sure if there is an option to do so

                • @Danneo: Mine is pretty much silent by default. Make sure the laptop is well ventilated when using. Even when running programs I can't hear it running.

Maybe try run on battery mode with battery saver on, see how that goes.

I've only heard the fans once before and that's when I was suffocating my laptop when using it while it was resting on my bed doona
