    Ryzen 6000 Series and Intel 12th gen processors just got announced this morning with the addition of the new 30 TI series cards for laptops. Might want to hold off on buying any laptops from now as they're considered last gen now and manufacturers need to get rid of their stock.

        Yeah as far as I can tell the Ryzen 5000 and 6000 series are almost the same processors except the 6000 Series only has better integrated graphics with slightly higher boost clocks. 5000 series 100% still worth considering

              @Duoka: However you also need to take into consideration that even at 28w the 6800u is able provide similar or bettery battery life, depending on the application, as the 5800u. Considering that the new iGPU provides much better performance then any of the Nvidia MX series. It renders a lot of those entry level dGPUs to the dust bin.

              It will be interesting how they utilise FSR and their new super resolution to allowing gaming of AAA titles at 1080p on a ultra thin laptop, whilst maintaining good battery life. Also with more AMD CPU+AMD DGPU laptops coming out, like the new Alienware with the 4k 120hz screen,will be interesting to see how the new smart-shift works in addition to all the other enhancements.

              In relation to Intel 12th gen mobile, will wait and see what they actually deliver vs their slide deck. Let's see what real world battery life will be from 3rd party reviews.

          Ryzen 6000 is Ryzen 5000 but with better integrated graphics (RDNA 2), DDR5 support and PCI-e 4.0. The integrated graphics won't be much of a selling point to someone with a dedicated GPU. AV1 media decoding is a plus, but your dGPU already had that.

          12th gen seems like the most interesting release with the addition of 8 efficiency cores. Should prolong battery life when idle or completing undemanding tasks. It will certainly help with sustained multhreaded performance while staying within the designated power and thermal budget. Also has support for up to x4 thunderbolt 4 ports, presumably with an on-die thunderbolt controller on the H series too this time.

          If you're looking for a purely gaming orientated laptop, the increased cost of DDR5 would probably be better spent on a higher tier GPU. Making a discounted last gen system more appealing.

          One of the most interesting Ryzen 6000 additions will be USB 4 (read thunderbolt 3). This is a first AMD for laptops. But most won't need the extra bandwidth.

          Edit: Intel H, U & P series all have fully enabled 96 EU Xe graphics in most SKUs. This will be a huge plus for video exports. Quick Sync encoder users will like this.

            @ChickenDinner123: Since Intel 7 has already ramped with desktop I'd expect it to come on schedule compared with 11th gen.

            The only thing that may hold back both companies is a DDR5 shortage.

      I thought we are in ozbargain not ozfanboy? If you are going to recommend one over the other at least provide some reasoning for which I don’t see any.

      From what I know, depending on your need both intel 11th gen and ryzen 5000 series are good depending on one’s use case:

      • If gaming is all your care for, intel is definitely better, an advantage that’s likely due to the bigger L3 cache (fortunately amd is catching up soon with the zen3D tech)

      • If you are often working away from a charger, amd is the better choice as it got both much better battery life and its performs better at lower wattage. Intel scales better at higher wattage-i.e:when running on wall power so it would be my pick if you have it on charge all the time.

        However, I would recommend people not to make an educated buying decision on a single chassis comparison, like the TongFangs in your post. People need to look at it on a chassis by chassis basis, with their comparison and their specific configuration. Assuming that another OEM will perform similarly will leave people sorely disappointed if the configuration doesn't meet their expectations.

          Yes the performance is different within every chasis. But what I said before is also jarrod’s experience across every machine there is-amd machines are just better at battery management even the 5900hx ones are better than 11800h, while intel is generally better at gaming-of course this gen you really need a mux switch to crank out the fps but that goes for both blue and red team.

    Paid ~$2450 for Legion 7 Ryzen 5800H + RTX3070 + 32GB + 1TB last April. Delivered end of May.
    Price never goes back to that level since then… Happy with my machine!

        As I knew there was Legion 5 Pro with the similar spec >$2500
        I never saw Legion 7 went to that price.

      You should see the used laptop market, people can't sell gaming laptops if their life depended on it.

      Unfortunately laptops don't hold value like gaming units which mainly people want the GPU for mining.

        No touch screen. I prefer Ryzen 7 but will go with Intel 7 if push comes to shove. The e15 looks good buy I read the p is better. The general jist seems to suggest the ThinkPads are robust. Minimum reqs wud be 15.6" FHD screen, 16gb Ram , 512GB SSD, min 80w power, 300 nits & decent Webcam& wifi adapter please Ability to hook external monitor. Whatever is a decent deal for above is the budget. Don't do games. TIA.

    There is no justification for the 3050 prices.

    The 3060 is barely good value with the intel and worth closer to 1600.

    The only problem is 16GB ram for the intel laptops, wish there's a way to upgrade to 32GB.
