Google Pixel 6 $299, 6 Pro 128GB $599 with Telstra Plan 200GB $79/Month for 24 Months (in-Store, Porting Customer) @ JB Hi-Fi

150

$299 Upfront for the Google Pixel 6 128GB phone if you choose the 24 month Telstra Plan with 200GB included for $79 a month. This is their $99 Plan with a $20 credit applied for the first 24 months. Plan includes unlimited talk & text to standard Australian numbers.

Not a great deal, you save $700 on the phone price and $20 a month on their $99 Phone Plan for 2 years, but if you did want the $99 Plan and a Pixel 6, might be worth it. I'm still waiting for the $500 gift card and $59 Plan deal personally.

Minimum phone and plan cost over 24 months is $2195.

You do need to be porting in to Telstra from a provider other than Telstra, Boost and Belong and have been away from the listed providers for at least 30 days.

    24 monthssss!!!! That's a lifetime! Didn't they have this on a 12month deal recently?

Do like your calculations and thoughts though

    • Yeah they did but they didn't allow Telstra or Boost port ins (though, with a lot of pain and worry, it could be done through the backend)

      • Telstra or Boost port ins

They've added Belong to the list IIRC…

        • i thought those were always off the cards, i just struggle on optus or vodafone for 30days and port back in on a deal of somme sort or normally wait 2 months the worst ever.

24 months contract kills the deal.

Waiting for Pixel 6 / 6 Pro outright deals 🤞

      I'm with you there

Same, They did nothing on Black Friday or after Christmas

24 months to me means if you don't want the hassle of porting out and back in to get a new gift card in 12 months time, you're getting 2 x $350 gift cards up front. That's how I'm viewing it. Still not enough for me to pull the pin.

Just be aware that there's a very annoying, very inconvenient connectivity bug with the Pixel 6 and a possible fix isn't due til a LATE January update comes through. Lots of network and wifi dropouts of about a minute. The December update was halted due to this bug. It's not the only bug with this phone. It's been very buggy over all. But this connectivity problem is the one I feel anyone thinking about buying it should know about.

    https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/210484323

    • Not my experience tbh, yes it has some minor inconveniences, but can't say it's very buggy. It's a bit heavy if I can fault something

the December update wrecked my connectivity and I get no mobile network where I used to have and it makes it very inconvenient. Fingerprint sensor could be better. Lot of minor bugs but i feel these can be easily fixed with software updates so hoping Google gets these all sorted. Once they do though Google Pixel 6 is a promising phone.

    • I've not had issues but not sure if it is because I didn't get the December update. Overall I love the phone and we should be reminded that it isn't an overly expensive for what is a branded, near flagship kind of phone (I know it sounds daft but when other phones are $2k+, I wonder what happened).

I am using the 6 in seafoam and love it generally. I can't stand the fingerprint scanner but strangely its been pretty good lately, not sure why or what has happened. I don't find it buggy at all and take comfort that bugs can usualyl be ironed out with software updates. Looking forward to future optimisations.

Have used all Pixels to date except A versions and the 5.

      • Trick with the finger print scanner is to add the same finger multiple times in the scan profile. works great after that

        • Nah, tried that but for some reason, its been good lately. Not sure what changed. Maybe I got better or system is learning (if there is such a function).

Pixels are an afterthought from Google at this stage. With the jan update, they botched up the basic workings of a phone. You would think how did that update go through testing? I'm not putting my money into them anymore. I was a fervent fan of pixels before. When I pay my money is not buggy. I pay hard cash. I expect the phone to work well and not break from an update within months

    • With S22 releasing next month, is it better to wait or get the Pixel?

      • Wait. I have the s21 and I'm going to get the S22. Samsung is doing a great job on their phones

        • rumour says S22 to get Snapdragon globally.. Hope that is true.

          • @spiinl: Not true, there's no issue from the new Exynos, and they delayed the announcement for it to coincide with the launch of the new S22 line up. Australia is still getting the Exynos at this stage unfortunately.

            • @Trishool: Damn it. still work getting S22 with Exynos over Pixel?

              • @spiinl: Probably, given the new S22 will also have an AMD GPU (or something like that) which will support ray tracing in games, and probably new sensor for the camera as well. It really comes down to what you prioritise in a phone and your budget.

              • @spiinl: Yep still worth. The processor difference between these two is minimal when you use the phone on a day to day basis.

    • No. It's Android 12. Other phone makers are having problems with it too.

  • shitty deal. dunt go!

  • Not a bad deal - Vodafone sent me a "personal invite only" offer of their $85 plan at $65 per month, plus the cost of the phone of $27.75, over 36 months = $3336 over the 36 months.
Considering the annual cost is about $1000 per year with both plans, the Telstra deal would work out better as it's only over 24 months.

    • Jeez, 3336/3 = $1112 dollars a year

You could literally purchase last year's flagship, e.g. S20 going for ~$500, and also purchase a decent data plan, e.g. amaysim 30gb for $30 = 30 * ~12 = $360, and still not hit the yearly limit. Rinse and repeat for the following 2 years, saving you $756.

Plus you still have 3 flagship phones which you can resell for a combined total of at least ~$600-700.

      • Only worth if your employer covers your bill or if you are swimming in cash.

I got $69 deal last month thinking 5G internet would be very fast. But the reception of telstra is too bad at my home 2m drive from Werribee CBD, 3030). Now I cannot even leave telstra for better network providers. If anyone is taking 12months or 24 months contract, I recommend to check for the network reception at your place first.

    • Yea try with boost pre paid first

      • You mean to try Boost 4G? As Boost don't have 5G telstra

    • I also went on same plan. 5G coverage (as in, how often I see 5G) seems to be decent but I think the speeds really open up when you are in optimal locations and good quality signal strength, otherwise it is fairly redundant. That is what I see anecdotally for now anyway (speedtest and observation)

    • I disable 5g on my pxiel 6 for following reasons
      1. 5g is not faster than 4g at my home and work place, and sometime 4g is double the speed of 5g for me.
      2. Battery get better when I only use 4g.

The big issue is after my December update, the 4g or 5g singel not stable and sometime drop to 3g or H. I am on Telstra, it should better than Optus.

By the way, the December update also remove hold for me feature and my double tap screenshot not working at most of time .

Hope it can fix those issues at January update

      • How much extra battery life with 4G?

        • +1

The battery life is so bad during the first week. It get better after two week of usage.

I am heavy user, only 10% left when I back to home on 5g. But I got 18%-25% left when I disable the 5g.

  • Do jb let you pay the phone part with gift cards? I have a bunch of rewards from work I want to cash of and figured I should use it for my next phone

  • Not a great deal

    Yeah, you said it.

  • Yeah, I would want a $55 deal, 80GB and the the $500 GC now. There is a standard Telstra plan at $65 and if I couldn't get $10 off that, then chances are we'll find a better option. 24 months is way too long, 12 months is also hard to bear, but worth it if the deal is good enough.

    • After 12 months, just port to Optus and get $300-500 discount on new phone and 20% off plan .

  • for iphone 13 deal … is the best deal still the 24months on $69 vodafone $1000 off phone ?
