[Preorder] EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FTW3 Ultra 8GB GDDR6X Graphics Card $1499 with Free Shipping @ PLE

630

Not sure if this is a Pre Order. I managed to buy one last week. Website shows orders in on Jan 21 25

Card has 6144 CUDA Cores and 1860 MHz Boost Clock. Memory is at 19000 MHz , so this has around 5% speed jump over the vanilla 3070, but consumes 290W of power (Vs 220W). The trick is to undervolt the card so the power draw drops under 250W and allow the boost to approach 2000 MHz

Toms Hardware GPU benchmark has this at 81.5%. For comparison RTX 3090 =100%, RTX 3070 = 76.3% and RTX 2080 Ti = 76.4%

3 Yr warranty

beautiful/heavy/3 slot. A GPU support is advisable

eVGA does not have a following in Australia compared to ASUS or Gigabyte, but it has a good reputation among the overclocking community. I previously had eVGA motherboards and GPUs and they are of quality build

      Yes

    • -1

      Yes but it is lhr

      • +4

LHR only impacts ETH mining. Other algorithms mine the same LHR or non-LHR.

        • +1

how much earning to mine from NiceHash QuickMiner or NiceHash Miner?

          • @dtingy: $0, but 80 FPS on ultra.

    • -2

      Can mine yours?

    • -1

      Yours or mine?

    • seriously don't know why you're getting down voted - is this place so against crypto or is it just the mining aspect which is creating GFX card shortages?

      • +3

It's the envy of those that know how to mine to pay off the GPU.

Who doesn't want a free GPU?

        • shrug

        • Who doesn't want a free GPU?

naive gamers who waiting for msrp, aka 3080 at A$800

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: $800 for a 3080. Ship the whole pallet to me and I'll pay cash on the spot.

  • Currently running this PSU: https://www.thermaltake.com.au/smart-rgb-600w-230v.html

Is it enough to run this card?

    • Yeah that should be enough.

    • +3

Borderline, depends on the rest of your PC. If you're running a lower powered AMD chip (3600/5600) then it'd be fine, Intel i7 I probably wouldn't risk it.

It'll run, you're just starting to hit the limit of your PSU rating, more likely to go pop.

      • +7

i run a 9900k and 3080 with a 650W PSU for over a year now, it depends on your PSU's quality

        • Yeah, the linked PSU is taken into account there, it’s a decent budget PSU but not one I’d want to put under a lot of stress.

Granted, the easiest way will probably be just run it and find out. If there’s any blue screens it’s time to get a new psu.

    • +2

      Maybe

The specs on the card state "Power Required 750W"

The card also requires an 8+8 pin connector which your PSU does have (2 x 6+2 connectors) though depends on the other parts of your computer.

Speaking from experience, I remember buying 1070 which the box state minimum 500W, and my PSU was only 450W at the time and my computer and the card ran fine for like 9 months then all of a sudden my PSU died. I assumed it was my GPU that burnt it out, purchased a new 650W PSU, I still have that 1070 after 3 years or so and my computer is running fine.

    • +1

      Website says

      Power Required
      750W

      • +2

Power specs for the card are always extremely conservative and assume worst case of you running a power sucking CPU, multiple hard drives, fans and other components. 600w will easily do it for the average user.

    • +5

Yes. No it's not borderline. People greatly exaggerate psu. It will be fine. I am assuming you dont have a crazy cpu

      • +2

Yeah it's fine I have a 3080 ti on 650w PSU. PSU ratings assume you have the worst piece of crap in your computer.

        • It also depends on how many hard drives (like the old chunky 3.5"), cd drives, water cooling, case fans, LED lights. Most people dont have the hard drives anymore, so thats like perhaps 20W each saved, all the misc usage. Overclocking on certain processors though is probably the biggest consideration.

    • +2

have a look at undervolting the card too. I've undervolted my 3070ti with basically no loss in performance, only uses ~190 watts max

      • +1

Did you undervolt it using MSI Afterburner? What was the parameters to achieve that, if you don't mind me asking?

        • Love to know the parameters too sorry just never done it before well important can one damage there card under voting?

    • Depends on rest of pc. But for average joe, more than enough.

Average Joe is a person that is using the hardware for the way it’s intended to be used on a balanced specification without extreme overclocking or crazy configurations 😃.

  • Any great site to undervolt a high end graphics card, is it a sime process I guess through some sort of software?

    • +24

EVGA have (in my eyes and the old warranty anyway) been more top end than Gigabyte and Asus. On the second hand market, they usually command a bit more.

      • +7

Thanks I didn't realise that as I assumed the opposite, positive vote for that 👍😁

      • +1

According to every tech review on YouTube. Gigabyte is the worst brand for mobo, psu and graphic card. I can’t really agree with your point mate

        • +3

I never had a point of view as I've never used an eVGA graphics card in the past or even looked at purchasing one or chasing up on reviews,. why I asked the question how they are compared to the usual other brands

Seems like I've hit a nerve cause of the numerous down votes to my original question, which is funny though glad there's people out there to state the eVGA brand is better then to what I thought were the best brands, learn something new every day lolz 👍😁😝

Anyway glad my original question is not showing now due to down votes

          • +5

@Italkdigital: EVGA has an excellent reputation in the industry. They did have some controversy with some 10xx series GPU's toasting up, but it was shown to be a faulty batch of chips on there rather than poor design. This was some 4-5 years ago. Regardless, their reputation in terms of warranty and service are 2nd to none. I've bought an EVGA GPU, and PSU as well as their AIO. All have been excellent for 4.5 years now. I'd rather have an EVGA GPU than any other brand. Other brands may perform slightly faster, but you know if you run into any trouble, that EVGA service is the best by a long shot.

          • +1

@Italkdigital: I'm thinking the downvotes come about because you've asked in one thread about undervolting, and then asking about the resell… to some that might be the same as asking "is it LHR".

I might be wrong, just saying how it looks.

            • +4

@Revrnd: All good,. voting is there for a reason and Ozbargain is here for opinions, right or wrong why I enjoy being here and great to learn about eVGA graphics cards👍

        • +1

Gigabyte do some great cheap monitors, and ive had 0 issues with my aorus xtreme x570. But man u gotta love all the shit that went down with their exploding PSUs a while back :)
Really its the same with any brand, they all have their lemons. EVGA with their faulty fan controller on the 30xx series cards, Asus installing capacitors backwards on the RAM power delivery on new boards.

        • I have a Gigabyte Laptop and MB, GPU in my PC, the software is absolutely trash IMO: unoptimised, always locks up, RGB has absolutely no integration with any game and doesn't sync with any other software.

10/10 Will never buy Gigabyte again

    • +3

My 2070 gigabyte is the biggest POS I have ever owned, my 3080 evga is flawless

Gigabyte used to be good in the mobo department but not for a long time

      • +2

I took pleasure in snapping my old Gigabyte motherboard. Caused me no end of dramas, sporadic drops, errors, boot failures. I replaced every component one by one, finally getting to the MOBO and replacing it. Less than 3 years old. NEVER GIGABYTE AGAIN!

        • +2

My Gigabyte GFX card would sound like a jet engine with no game even running, then the constant revving was mind numbing

          • +1

@thesainter: I guess nothing is worst than their faulty PSUs that will blow up your house?

  • -4

    I paid $1500 for 3060 12Gb just 6 months ago.

    • +4

And just noticed this is a 3070 TI, PLE currently offering great discounts

Edit: and I feel your pain lolz

      • +1

Meaning def a sign GPU prices are coming down …

        • +1

          Crypto bubble to go pop

    • +6

      Yikes

    • -3

      lol i paid $1230 for a 3080 12 months ago. hurts huh.

      • +6

No need to rub it in

      • +1

Same, got a 3080 for $1237 for a client. Decided to hold off on getting one for myself as I thought it was too expensive (hah!). Hopefully the production will catch up at some point and we can get it sub-1200.

3060/3070 isn't enough of an upgrade from my current card and especially not worth it with the hugely inflated pricing.

      • +1

Where did you get it for $1,230? Would it return to that price at where you bought it from?

        • +2

It was from CPL, no idea if it will return to that price before the 4000 series releases as the price is now $2259

          https://cplonline.com.au/gigabyte-n3080aorus-m-10gd-rev3-aor…

          • @Agret: Wow that certainly was a bargain, I actually bought a used 3070 Master off eBay for $1070 had no choice as few weeks back they were new for $1100 and didn't want to take the risk the price rising or waiting for new stock, fortunately prices have gone up so was still a good buy, maybe time to sell as 4000 series is just around the corner, yummy 3080 Master I'd like to own too
            👍🤣

now who thinks prices will come down its very hard to say this covid situation isn't ending anytime soon,.. sorry to say

        • +1

that was pretty much standard price at release (if you could get one), paid similar for a 3080 for brother and about $1050 for my rx6800. Both are still worth more second hand than their purchase prices.

    • +2

      F

    • and you have enjoyed that card for 6 month now.

  • Looks like out of stock everywhere

  • +9

Prices are starting to come down, HOLD

    • +1

People have been saying that for 2 years. Pricing won't be coming down any time soon and is not way near RRP.

      • +1

        2 years?

        • -1

Yes, when crypto started to go up.

          • +3

@Viospeed: I thought some people were able to purchase GPUs at MSRP in late 2020 before the market went stupidly crazy. That's just over one year ago.

            • @edfoo: Yes, that is reality.

            • +1

@edfoo: Yes, definitely wasn’t 2 years. Bought a client an RTX 3080 in November 2020 for $1237. Hoping the semiconductor shortage is resolved this year so we can get proper RRP back for end of the year.

            • @edfoo: Feels much longer

    • -1

I paid $1250 for this exact card from PLE mid last year. I don't think it has come down.

    • this gpu has been on their site for 4 weeks at the same price

    • +2

Lol no they aren't, here is my post from last year before NSW went into lockdown for delta. Literally most upvoted comment is "hold".

Paid $1449 on Dec 14th for mine from PLE and received yesterday after shipping on Monday (much later than the original ETA, which was before Christmas).

    • I also bought mine on 14th December, pickup from Bentley store. Ended up being ready for pickup on 22nd December. That's crazy you had such a long wait.

Although when I bought mine it was about an hour before it was posted on Ozbargain, and when I spoke to the worker there he said it was first ordered first served. And he also said that the shipment they were receiving was 40+ units but they only get delivered in batches of around 6-10 and then another 1-2 week wait for the next one. Weird system!

    • +1

A week after the 1449 deal was sold out, these cards came back at 1499 and have been since then. Not sure why this post has so much traction, probably the new year and everyone forgot?

      • exactly

      • Yeah not sure either as I have even mentioned in the old evga thread that the items were back in stock but at a higher price for the 3070 ti. Only the ftw 3070 can't be ordered. 3060 ti ftw came back recently too at the same price. 3060 ti xc also can be ordered.

If it was $1449 again I will be tempted but at $1499, mmm.

        • These prices are over double what I paid for my 3060Ti, so I’m not looking to upgrade at all.

Just kept an eye on prices for a friend.

          • @ATangk: Wish I didn't need a card but computer waiting for card so it can be built, had the rest of parts since around July. Been waiting since then and it's only gotten worse, prices haven't really dropped maybe except for 3060 ti recently. The stores don't get the 3080 anymore and only sell the 3080 ti at crazy money and they all have stock. But at 2500 - 3000 I don't think many people buying.

            • @JL1: Thats kind of sad to have parts waiting around, but to be fair every part dropped in price except for GPU since I got mine. So its kind of a tradeoff. Do you at least have an iGPU?

              • @ATangk: Sorry I meant fhr 3080 never came back. 3080 lhr did come back in stock but at inflated pricing. I got my parts for pretty good prices so only the CPU has become cheaper. I unfortunately decided to go AMD 5900x and no iGPU. I just caved a few days ago and ordered a 3060 ti from PLE when no official announcements of a 3070 ti with more vram. Also does not help the case I wanted has been out of stock for last few months.

Will see how 3080 ti prices go when 4000 series get released.

                • @JL1: In the end you have the same setup as me 😂. 5900x with 3060Ti.

  • +4

the non-TI version at $1329 (when it was available) is better value as the performance gain for the TI version is not significant enough.

  • +1

Purchased this 3 months ago from BPC Tech for the same price. Great card seriously well done, watch out for the sag though its taking its toll and these chonky boys will need a gpu holder for it.

    • Or shim up the lower PCI covers.

  • +2

The FTW3 series have some nice quality of life features, namely, it has a 4pin fan controller and a ARGB pinout.

  • Wow nice find OP!

  • +1

Would this GPU be overkill for doing video editing? I want to build a desktop PC and mainly run MS Office plus do some video editing. I don't play games but might get into it.

    • +5

Yes, massive overkill. Probably look into a a 5700g CPU with good integrated graphics and then add a GPU if you feel the need later.

      • Thanks. Does the 5700g CPU come with onboard graphics built into it? And you think it will handle video editing without needing a separate GPU? Can you also recommend a motherboard for this CPU. Thanks mate, I really appreciate any help with building my new PC. I'll be using a Cooler Master NR200P Mini-ITX case

      • Dad's 5800x and a 3060 isn't missing a beat for that use here

  • This or waiting for 3070 Ti "16GB" for future proof?

    • I thought they won't release that since they only made the 3080 12gb now. Along with new 3050, 3090 ti. Or are there news of 3070 ti 16gb? I was hoping for it too but didn't see news of it and thought that was it.

Edit - I see there's news of EEC filings of 3070 ti 16gb from Asus and Gigabyte. Hope it does come out and put pressure on other cards to be cheaper, the 3070 ti 8gb will be the first to drop like how retailers dropping price for 3080 10gb. But there won't be significant drops until 4xxx series come out I think.

  • Hanging out for a 3080ti deal….or wait till 4000 series hmmm

  • Oh wow that’s cheap 🙃

    • +1

Got ftw3 ultra 3080 for ~1250 from PLE when they came out…

      • Don't think we will ever see those prices again

  • +1

    Hold!!

  • -3
  • I am heartened that this item has been listed for awhile and hasnt turned up as "Out of stock". Hopefully this indicates a downward trend on prices.
