PJAN20PJAN22

Hi,

I was in need of some new brakes and had these sitting in my cart for a couple of weeks and just noticed today that the PJAN20/PJAN22 codes work on it… bargain!
The link here is pretty specific, I bought front and back brake pads. There might be other good deals too. I figured this was worth posting as I felt it was a decent deal. Unfortunately, Repco and Supercheap don't stock these sized pads for my car, otherwise, today's Repco sale might've been better!
Hope it helps someone out.

Did you came across any M sports pads for F22?

    • I just checked for my car, but assume that it is across other parts as well. Mainly posted it so you can check ebay yourself!

  • Nice! Its across all of Rolan Ebay store! got other sets.

OP: wondering why Ceramic? Assuming these will on on the M135 metallic pads perform much better.
    ** Mega dust tho.

    • These are BMW OEM pads

      • Understand. Guess the metallic would be a upgrade/after market part then.

I read ceramic has less dust than organic… so i figured I'd give it a go.. I've painted my wheels black so the dust isn't as obvious as the original grey…
This will be the first time to change the pads, so I don't really know what I'm doing.. watched a few you tube clips and I'd done brakes on a Mini Cooper a few years ago.
I'm keeping the same rotors as well this time.

      • Best practice to machine the rotor face to remove old pad material before switching pad types.

        • Yeah I'd read that as well but the finish on the rotors is still pretty good. I think I'll just do a bit of bedding in then take it easy for a while and see how they feel.

          • @maddoglee: My unprofessional opinion is that you might experience brake shudder before the new pads fully bed in.

            • @phamaroo: I'll keep that in mind… See how I go… Just need to buy a pressure bleeder now

      • Yeah for sure. Very quiet too. But its really a trade off for braking performance. You will find ceramics fade a lot after aggressive use, to the point of mushy feeling.
Fine for the rear rotors. But front 4 pot brakes. meh.

        • I've never had ceramics before, do that will be interesting. I guess I don't do all that much aggressive braking… It'll be cool to see what the difference is like.
Not too big a deal if I really can't cope with them, it's not that big a cost to change them out I guess if I'm doing it myself

I've used this store as an alterative to another which drop shipped parts that weren't available (then wouldn't tell me for the 2 months). I found them to be reliable and good value. They did some deals on Kumho tyres ages back which were pretty good too.

I also learnt this lesson and will never go back to said drop shipping store again

  • Brembo branded normal commuter car ceramic pads. Hey it's your money, lol.

Buy something like the Bremtec evolve hybrid carbon range for around the same money (DBA sell a similar type of pad). Very easy to price match/beat supercheap vs eBay or wherever else.

    • Do they chew through discs?

      • More than organic & ceramic blend pads? I'm relatively new to these hybrid pads (bought a few sets to fit on 2 different vehicles several months ago), but I think they are more balanced than very aggressive metallic pads, without eating the discs as much. The idea behind these hybrid pads = practically impossible to fade, very good stopping power and less disc wear.

        • Damn I should've posted here before buying them! I was struggling to figure out differences… How do these evolve brakes go with brake dust??
Looks like Rolan do those evolve ones too for my car… Maybe I'll but a set and change them if these really bother me…hmm

          • @maddoglee: 90% of brake dust is from the rotors. Pads make very little of their own dust. Some pads eat rotors more, so then you have more brake dust.

In terms of discs, I like the anti rust coated RDA discs or the DBA zinc coated discs.

        • Sweet, I'll give the hybrids a crack next brake change
