Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 128GB $449 after $300 Trade-in Bonus, $200 Loyalty & $50 Nwsltr ($749 w/o Trade) Shipped @ Samsung

850
FANEDITION

26/01: I was just emailed by Samsung Loyalty about the CDS vouchers being made valid for purchases of the S21 FE.

After trying, I can confirm they work. They don't stack with the EDS $100 vouchers from the live chat sales team that were invalid from 25-31 Jan. Applying the CDS + MA9 newsletter codes brings the price down to $449 (trade-in excl. device value) or $749. To source a CDS voucher, email [email protected] with front & back photos and IMEI of a Samsung phone and state physical/water damage. Otherwise, S10 & older / out-of-warranty non-Samsung phones provide $100 vouchers.

31/01: Can confirm it still works.

01/02: EDS codes reported as available again - see paragraph detailing vouchers below.

Initial info (prices are lower if using $200 CDS, EDS now available again via chat)

S21 FE sale terms updated, free shipping. If you do not want to trade in, the price is $849 for the 128GB model with the vouchers detailed below. Same as Costco deal (membership req.) but direct from Samsung and throw in an accessory discount. $799 no vouchers required at Samsung Education/Partner Store if you have access to that.
Add $100 to final prices ($649 trade-in excluding the additional discount of the value of your device, $949 vouchers only) for 256GB storage.

10% discount flash sale ended, trade-in bonus upped from $250 back to $300 making the final price (when trading in) $50 more than previous deal, and same as the first deal. The value of the phone you're trading in is also deducted from the final price.
$100 dearer than last deal if you're not trading your old phone in and only using the EDS loyalty & newsletter vouchers (same as first deal).

If you are keeping your phone but using the trade-in service, keep in mind you will likely be charged Asurion's $60 admin fee plus the value of the device - but not the bonus. Also note the Samsung Trade-up App seems to throw a credit card verification error if using a debit card. Support: [email protected].

For $150 off use pre-existing vouchers: EDS $100 loyalty/ineligible trade-in (try another agent if you are denied a voucher, invalid 25 Jan but available again as of 1 Feb) + MA9 $50 email sign-up. Contact [email protected] to request a voucher as soon as you enter your address.

Use FANEDITION code for $50 off accessories added to your cart until 30 January (still works). Use this for a free fast charger. (Now only applies a discount to $69 45W charger, possibly other accessories.)

50% off Samsung Care+ and $100 discount with Samsung Upgrade still available.

Free Buds2 with every purchase until 30 January - Olive on pre-order for stock arriving 18 February which will delay your shipment, keep this in mind if you're ordering the corresponding Olive phone.

  • I don't think this has been the best deal through Samsung for the S21 range though better then Telstra day deals for the S21 👍😁

    • +7

Note that this is the new S21 FE 5G, released a couple weeks ago and the successor of the S20 FE. It's a value-oriented S21.
This is pretty close to the best price it has ever been outright - $50 away from the best if you trade in, $100 away if you don't.

And no - we've seen some crazy but short-lived less-than-half-price sales for the Ultra and Plus.

      • Hmm, so I won't Google to see if it's worth trading my s21 in for then.

        • +2

No, I think you'll want to wait for the S22 next month.

  • +1

Keep getting this "Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment"

    • Me too. I’d rather get the regular s21 though.

    • I've been getting this same message since before Christmas and Samsung support keep telling me to contact Aurion and they don't reply to my emails!
      What a stuff-up!

  • The 300 trade in is a maximum right, so I won't be getting that for my S9+ I assume!?

    • +3

$300 is a trade-in bonus which you'll get it on top of your S9+ trade-in value.

  • +1

Everything seems to be working again…🤞

  • Is there any expiry on the two vouchers?

    • +1

Its a quoted 1 month on the EDS loyalty, not sure about the newsletter voucher.
You can get them at any time though.

  • +1

Haha I like how they magically restocked this morning when it's $50 more expensive!

    • The Samsung store restocks all the time.

  • Trade up not working again. By the time they sorted out my newsletter code. Graphite buds were sold out. By the time I reselected to white. Trade Up is broken again…. FML… 3 days trying to buy this phone…

    • +1

Mine arrived just now. You'll get there eventually!

      • +9

Sweet baby Jesus and the weeee donkey…
        I got the white one… All done… 3 days… 3 monkey humping days later….

        128Gb WHITE S21 FE 5G
        White Buds 2
        45w wall charger
$573 using trade up, newsletter, and FANEDITION

Great deal, but gee wizz, I worked for it!

Thanks to the OP and everyone posting tips and info.

        I'm having a lie down…

  • Could someone help me with the $100 loyalty voucher if you have a spareone available?

    • +8

Did the one I gave you yesterday not work?

      • +1

It came up as 'Access Denied'….

        Username checks out

      • Hey mate can you help me with these codes. I tried a few and said they are not available currently been denied.

        • Try the instructions at the top that I added. You can use any phone for that $100 voucher and it also stacks with newsletter.

          • @Techie4066: It’s expired they don’t give it
            Thanks mate

            • @Morpheus: I wasn't referring to the invalid EDS vouchers.
              Follow the loyalty email process.

              • @Techie4066: That’s the one I messaged them about and they said no 😔

              • @Techie4066: Sorry my mistake just mixed it up
All good though I don’t have an Samsung phone unfortunately:(

                • @Morpheus: You don't need one. Keep reading that paragraph for details on the $100 CDS loyalty for non-Samsung/aged phones :)

  • +9

I know that this isn't OzOpinion, but I am really tiring of the hoops you have to jump through to get some of these samsung handset deals, especially the hit and miss nature of each of the steps, e.g.: can't get the newsletter code without having to hit up samsung chat, can't get the loyalty bonus for whatever reason, trade in apps are crappy at BEST and when they do work, if you don't use the code correctly can invalidate using that phone for future trade in. I will add that I've successfully done a trade in with all of the above before, but its nigh on impossible to replicate now due to all of the above steps. Makes you wonder if this is a loophole Samsung is well aware of and whether they give a damn; or maybe they like it this way.. anyhow, carry on

    • +1

Fair enough. It's worked for a long time for a lot of people, that's all I'll say. It's already a good price without the additional vouchers - $700 for a newly released $1K phone, that was the best price the Pixel 5 was offered at.

      • +2

The trade in side of it just doesn't seem to be able cope with the foreseeable extra traffic of a sale. And there's no process for dealing with it. And the Samsung side of it just seem to think it's acceptable to point the finger at Asurion and wash their hands of it. It's a Samsung branded service, advertised and offered on Samsung's page. To offer a bonus discount that isn't available within the sale period easily falls under false or misleading advertising. They did the right thing tho and extended the offer so that's something

        • +4

Maybe I'm just lucky, but apart from not having the $50.00 newsletter voucher on time and had to reached out to chat support 2 times for the $100 EDS voucher. It's well worth the time in my opinion as I've saved about $693 off the phone price (S21 FE, 128GB), I didn't have any issue with the trade-in app as well. This is probably one of the best deals from this site for me :)

    • +3

100% agree. Absolute nightmare of a process. The absolute worst consumer experience I've had. Tech nerd here in his 40's with 10+ years of sales and retail experience here. I thought I'd been through some bad retail experiences on both sides of the fence… But Jeeesus…
      -Broken Trade In system
      -No Asurion support
-No Fux in stock at Samsung chat
-Ample stock of shoulder shrugs at Samsung
-No stock of your preferred colour buds by the time all your codes come in
-Therefore you can't check out with your preferred colour phone and just wait for stock of buds
-Extra shipment of Samsung Shoulder Shrugs arrives
      -Still no Fux in stock

I survived the Galaxy Flash Sale of '22, and came out the other side with a mid-range phone in a colour I didn't want, and some earbuds I won't use… WOOO!!

      • +3

I survived the Galaxy Flash Sale of '22, and came out the other side with a mid-range phone in a colour I didn't want, and some earbuds I won't use… WOOO!!

You didn't have to buy it mate 🤪
For the sake of accuracy, the phone isn't mid-range (it's an affordable flagship with the same processor), and that sale ended yesterday.

        • +7

Just being facetious and letting off some steam mate after a very frustrating process. You've gotta laugh it off! It is a great deal. Otherwise I wouldn't have put myself through the trauma!!
That doesn't change the fact the process is well below par, great deal or not. I'm glad it seems to be holding up better for some people today. Have a good one 👍

          • @Kaiser Kohl: I agree, I don't entirely trust that broken app with my licence pic and credit card details I had to give again and service unavailable on the final step

            • @Everybodybecool: I get that. The trouble is it's a statutory requirement to show ID for trading secondhand goods so its unavoidable. Hopefully you've had some luck mate

    • +1

I had absolutely no problem doing it twice last year during the crazy less then half price discounts. The newsletter voucher is the annoying one. It should just work and it doesn't. But the loyalty voucher is just an extra incentive at the discretion of the chat salesperson. You're not necessarily entitled to it. So I have no problem with that process. It's like going into a whitegoods store and negotiating an extra discount for paying cash.

I've personally had no issues with the trade up app, unless it's changed recently.

  • +3

"Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment"
Samsung website is shit as always

    • +1

From memory, people were having this error last year when they weren't entering the CC details into the app. Put in your CC details and see if that helps.

      • I had trouble all weekend even with a proper CC. Not debit card. Worked fine on first and third attempts today tho. I get that some people haven't had dramas, but a lot have too

  • +4

Cant do this.. the errors up again. I have never been ever able to get the trade in. This is a useless deal :( for me at least.

  • Would love to change my S9 to this but the trade in app says the phone is not eligible. I think it originally came from overseas.
Any way around it? The phone is in great condition.
If not, what's the cheapest option for no trade in? Thank you

  • +1

For anyone curious, this device is single SIM. Confirmed via chat.

There isn't even eSim compatibility. Very disappointing given other markets with Exynos got the dual SIM version.

    • It's disappointing… It would have been perfect if it was a dual physical sims, like other markets.

      • Do what I'm doing, every single phone they release, I ask if it's dual-sim, even if I know it's not.

If enough people keep asking, they might get the hint and release dual-sim versions of every phone.

        • Lack of dual sim means Samsung steers me to Xiaomi Mi12/Mi12x. Just waiting for global edition to be released.

          • @Cheaparoo: VoLTE is the deal breaker for the Xiaomi.

    • Thanks for getting this information. I'll pass this deal as I'm after a dual sim phone either physical or eSIM.

  • +2

My loyalty voucher included the phrase:
Voucher discounts will apply to the S21/FLIP 3/FOLD 3 SERIES ONLY. (S21 FE Not Included)

    • I don't think anything's changed in the past day. And someone reported above it all worked this morning. Try it and see what happens.

  • how much extra will I pay to get a 256GB model?

    • feel free to check the website and let us know :)

    • +$100. It's all on the website.

  • Still tempting for Pixel 5 (if I have this right)

    $849
    - $220 (pixel 5 trade value)
    - $300 bonus
    - $100 loyalty
    - $50 newsletter
    = $179.

    hmmmmm
or maybe I wait for S22 and hope S21 FE drops further without impacting Pixel 5 trade value

    • +1

The final price would actually be $329 since the vouchers are deducted from the normal price of $999, not $849 (<— this is the price with vouchers). It was better with the 10% phone discount that ended yesterday.

  • I can get this for approx $300, but not sure it's worth the upgrade from a S20 FE 5G?

    • +3

Depends. If you have one with a questionable touch screen, it's probably worth the upgrade. If not, probably not.

      • Oh yeah, the touch screen is annoying but I kind of learnt to live with it.

        • Probably a great time to move it on then.

          • @wombat81: Decided against it as it's the Exynos version in Australia, and reported poor battery life. Sounds like not much of an upgrade unfortunately.

            • @Drpepper666: The Exynos 2100 is a beast of a chip. Ignore all the exynos hate with this one. It'll outperform your sd865 all day. Can't comment on the battery life.

    • It's really not unless you had an Exynos 4G FE and want better performance. Same cameras, a little lighter and shorter, headphone jack and SD card slot removed, worse battery life than previous Snapdragon, the glass upgraded from GG3 to Victus.
Oh and as someone mentioned, the ghost touch touchscreen was totally awful if you faced that. I also had issues with the virtual touchscreen proximity function not working in my pocket - according to GSMArena this new one has a proper sensor.
Mine went back to Samsung after 5 months for a full refund (had to fight hard through Fair Trading NSW).

      • How do you like the phone? Concerned about Exynos battery life / performance as I've heard horror stories.

        • Horror stories about this device/chip, or a about Exynos in general? As I said above the Exynos 2100 is a completely new beast with new architecture. The previous Exynos chips weren't great but the 2100 is completely fine and so close in performance to the SD888 that you wouldn't notice any difference.

    • Could also be worth claiming warranty on that display.

      • Tried and gave up. Samsung assessed it, no fault. Fully replaced it with a new phone, same issue. It's just how the phone is. I got it on a plan package deal at JB, so I was not entitled to a full refund like the OP (who spent 5 months on it).

Really soured me on Samsung, the dogs.

        • I got it on a plan too. But I cancelled the Telstra plan immediately and paid the ETC which was half the cost at that point.
They refunded the full $1,188, most of which was JB's gift cards. Had to email essays with heaps of links for proof, and apply pressure though Fair Trading, it was a huge ordeal.

          • @Techie4066: Wow what a pain in the ass. But I guess you got extra value, kinda? Personally I never got charged the ETC so it was 100% free so I just lived with it. Not worth the hassle.

            • @Drpepper666: Yep, it was compensation for time spent on the run-around.
So weird how Telstra managed the ETC. I thought you were using the plan anyway? That was never my intention, I wanted the best outright price and the ETC loophole was it. Sad they caught on.

The Trade-In App is failing to validate my credit card.. all 3 of them. Any ideas?

    • Same

      • +1

Maybe their payment processor is broken? I dunno, pretty frustrating I've got everything in cart ready to go…

    • They're not all debit cards you've used, are they?

      • 1 debit, 2 credit.

        • Email the Asurion address above.
I emailed them 10 days ago, no response.

          • @Techie4066: I already did, thank you. Funnily enough there is a hold on my MasterCard actually, but the app won't recognise it. Great.

    • Same problem. I wonder if anyone else can get trade in app working today.

    • Do you use Android or iphone? My credit card validation fail is on iphone. Don't have any other eligible device :-(

      • +1

        Android

I ended up uninstalling / reinstalling the app several times, just trying over and over until it worked. Good luck.

        • Try a few times on a $5 iphone and 3 more attempts failed to validate.
Recognise an ipad is ok for trade up so run on a $60 ipad and same credit card works.
I wonder if they intentionally rejects old devices

  • How long are these taking to ship/dispatch?

    • +1

Ordered very late Thursday, delivered Startrack this morning.

  • Is it worth upgrading from a Note 9? Ignoring the fact it's got the 3.5mm jack and SD slot. I haven't been up to date with phones and their OS in recent years so got no idea but my screen is cracked

    • I'd recommend either this (one more year of updates than the S21 from last year), or the upcoming S22 Ultra which is essentially a revived Note. It will have an S-Pen and a squared off curved screen.

  • Do people actually send old phone to trade in or just pay some admin fee for the $300 Trade-in Bonus?

    • +1

Not sending old phone back, in the hopes they forget to email me or charge the fee. It'll be fine if they do.

      • I haven't sent mine back yet.
Got an email that they will charge the phone credit + $60 fee if it's not returned

  • Has anyone been able to place an order (with a trade-in) since 9am today? I've gotten "Sorry, due to an error, trade-in service is unavailable at the moment" all day.

    • +2

I just placed an order, including trade-in and three codes :)

  • anyone got an extra $50 subscription voucher they not using?

  • +1

    Anyone tried today using FANEDITION?
    Doesn't work atm.

    • +1

Not working for me either. I just got my EDS code off the chat this morning too :(

    • yeah doesnt seem applicable against the 35W charger

      • I tried using different accessories 25w/ wireless/ additional headphones etc didn't work
        but bought anyways using EDS

    • I emailed the store's support to fix it last time, I'll do so today.

  • +1

Thanks OP - Bought for $309 trading in S20 FE 5G

FYI I had to buy White colour. Olive+Graphite both sold out of Buds or Phone/Buds. Did not try Lavender.

    • +1

Did you do that this morning or yesterday? I'm unable to apply the code due to the charger being out of stock
EDIT: Never mind, the code applies to the 45W voucher
