        • I called Coles Customer Care, but the calls kept getting dropped each time (3 times) before I could complete my complains. Not my lucky day I guess? I complained via the web form & will try my luck later going back to the Coles store.

          • @shismo: You can always try reaching out to Coles via Facebook Messenger (assuming you have access to Facebook Messenger).

      • FYI, bought one @ around 1.30pm today and it was activated @ 5.32pm, shown in the account.

      • Card is still not activated as of now.

I managed to call Vanilla help desk few minutes ago. This time they confirmed that they have received my email and will take 3-5 days to resolve the problem.

Started to feel like all this not worth the hassle with less than 10% discount. I just want my money back ;(.

        • They finally activated the card today.

  • +2

Used mine to purchase 'NSW Seniors 5% off Woolies GCs' - no expiry (at https://www.seniorscard.nsw.gov.au/discounts/homepageoffers/…)

  • I bought 3 cards in the same transaction. 2 cards were successfully loaded, the 3rd one was not. It turned out the scanner picked a wrong card number from the bar code.
What should I do? If I bring the cards back to the coles store, they would say: you did not bring back the correct card, the card you bring back has a different number from the receipt.
Anyone having same issues? Can anyone help me out? What should I do in this case?

    • Hey mate so you bought 3 cards. The reciept shows the last 3 digits of the barcode located on back of card. Extremely low probability of a wrong barcode being valid as well as being the same product ($250 vanilla) but what is possible is that 3 cards were scanned. You paid. Then You were given 2 of the scanned cards and 1 inactive card whilst the other scanned card sits on the counter

      • Ohhh that's right! The assisted check out man took 1 card away when I tried to scan the 4th card. He said only 3 are permitted!!! I better give the store a call. Thanks

        • +2

Max 5 cards per customer as stated on catalog, he’s misleading you. Make sure when you call the store you mention it. As some doggy staff might have swapped your card(it does happened before).

        • That’s like a huge red flag.. everyone knows you can buy five.

  • any stock left in general?

    • I think this time the stock level is about 10 times of the total interested people. Not everyone will buy over 5 limt, though.

      • Surprisingly the stock levels this time were crazy. Based on past experience I didn’t venture out on Wednesday and just stumbled upon few cards on Friday.
However, $250 were over in most of places by Thu/early Fri barring a couple of stores as mentioned in prior comments.

    • NSW or ACT?

    • the first coles i went didn't have them but the other coles did.

  • Does anyone know if we can use Beem IT with this to pay ATO bill?

    • Last checked, Beemit did not honour these cards. You may try Post Bill Bay. I have not tried it for ATO, but used it for mostly all Utilities and for my Health Insurance. Worked..

    • +3

I’ve paid ATO directly using $250 card.
      $249 +$1(0.4%) processing fee.

  • Anyone ever had luck using these on Prezzee?

    • +4

Nope, not by directly inputting the card numbers.

However, I have linked a Vanilla Visa gift card to my PayPal account and have then been able to purchase gift cards through Prezzee via PayPal and selecting the Vanilla Visa gift card as the payment source.

If you want to be able to use Vanilla Visa gift cards directly on Prezzee, I think you’ll need to reach out to Prezzee’s support team and see whether they can whitelist your account so that it can accept Vanilla Visa gift cards. By default, Prezzee’s payment processor (Stripe, I think?) blocks all cards with no 3D Secure support, but I reached out to them about a year ago and they asked their payment processor to allow my account to use Coles Gift Mastercards to purchase gift cards on Prezzee.

      • +2

I can confirm that liking Vanilla Visa to Paypal and then paying by Paypal on Prezee works.

        • Second that

    Thanks OP and Coles.

Got 81 cards worth $20250 for $18771 saving $1479.(paid ATO bill using half the $ and will try to top up with the remaining)
    plus
18771 flybuys points(worth ~$93) - Yes, Not sure why/how but I did receive flybuys points on Vanilla Gift card purchases and I just realized about this.
    plus
56,315 Amex Ascent points(using Plat edge)

      Wow, good work. Impressive dedication

I guess your efforts mean you’re going straight to the pool room for OzBargain gift card doyens, alongside:

      • tharlow and their $36,000 haul of Apple gift cards in one gift card deal (which also netted them 900,000 Everyday Rewards points in the process and likely forced both Woolworths and Everyday Rewards to change their terms and conditions for gift card deals and Everyday Rewards redemptions).
      • digitalane and their efforts in amassing 81 discounted TCN/Ultimate gift cards totalling $7,495, and redeeming them all in one transaction at JB Hi-Fi.

      Good job!

    • +1

not too bad, but those professionals on here are all with 3-figures numbers of cards.

      • agree, was set back few days reading comments on how cards got hacked within 4 hours of activation.
        Hopefully next time :)

        • +3

          those are noob's comments.

Vanilla GC really put some thought into security of the packaging design and they must have really spend the effort to take in the feedback from other scam attempts, including changing the packaging design with barcode printed half on the package and half on the actual card with their new packaging design.

These cards are all new packaging design. The only thing they need to change is getting a PIN for their cards so it won't cause issue with many merchants without PIN for payment.

    Thanks OP
Managed to get some $250s tonight

  • Is the limit like 5 per day or 5 per person? I only bought 15 cards and I thought that was greedy. I should’ve bought more.

    • +1

It is 5 per person during the entire promotion, but it is up to Coles staff to enforce this limit.

There’s nothing stopping you from going to one store and picking up 5 cards, then going to another store and picking up 5 more cards… and when the staff change at the first store later in the the day or the week, there’s nothing stopping you from picking up even more cards.

    • +1

I was told 5 per person per day

    • +1

Several duty managers have told me 5 per person per day.

  • +1

Hopefully they will have this deal again.

    • +2

If history is anything to go by, expect the next deal around early-to-mid June.

I would wonder though whether the next deal (if there is a next deal) is exclusive to a different state (e.g. VIC)…

It’s too late to join the party but l want to share my experience with this vanilla visa gift card

You can use this vanilla gift card $250 to purchase another vanilla gift card $250 from coles as long as you have balance to cover amount $231.75 but it required signature to sign, I sign l already test and it worked, this is a staff check out not the self checkout l don’t know about self check out will be blocked to sign or not. In person purchased no issue.

You can use coles gift card to make a payment for this vanilla visa gift card I already tested this is also a staff check out. Not the self check out I split payment by 3 times paid with coles gift card with no issues.

Vanilla visa gift card take 4-6 hours to be loaded and activated after purchased.

Coles return gift card didn’t work with any source of gift card even though you have sufficient fund it will be blocked from the POS system both staff or self checkout. I tested and it didn’t work.

Only one thing l am sure with coles gift card if you have sufficient fund to cover amount sources of gift card you are able to pay at self checkout because this system not allowed to make a split payment with any card ( Cash + Card payment is OK but you can’t use card and another card to pay ) Make a split payment must be made from staff check out only!!!

I hope my experience would be helpful for everyone who want to know coles gift card can make a purchase with any 3RD party gift card not from the coles brand gift card. As long as you have sufficient fund. If not you can make a split payment at staff check out you just tell the balance of coles gift card to the staff, scan code , put the pin and paid the rest whatever left with another card or cash.

You got lucky/staff at that store are poorly trained. It's a standing instruction that staff are not supposed to accept gift cards as a payment method when purchasing gift cards.

Using the Vanilla card to purchase a Vanilla card is technically against the T&Cs of the promotion although not stopped by the payment process (eg BIN blocked).
The staff get audited daily so if it's noticed that the payment method is by a Vanilla Visa card (based off BIN number) or gift card that staff member might not be in a job for long.

      • Wow. I think l just got lucky then by T&C of gift card policy and staff poor trained. So l will keep in my mind how to purchase the right gift card next time.

    • +1

You neglected to mention something very important in your comment… the gift card terms of use for Coles gift cards (and other gift cards issued by Coles Group) clearly states:

No Gift Card can be used for purchases of gift cards.

Essentially, you’re not actually allowed to use Coles gift cards to purchase any gift cards (e.g. third-party gift cards) at Coles. However, as you found out, staff will not always enforce this restriction, which is why I have said in previous comments on this topic that it is at staff discretion.

I guess you were luckier than someone I witnessed on the weekend: whilst I was waiting at the service desk for the service supervisor on duty to finish serving another customer, that customer was attempting to use Coles gift cards as a payment method for Vanilla Visa gift cards, and the service supervisor was insistent on not allowing that at all, because it was against the Coles gift card’s Terms of Use (which it true). The customer was grumpy and eventually stormed off without the Vanilla Visa gift cards, so I guess it shows you cannot always rely on staff (especially senior staff) to let you do this.

      • +1

Thanks for your comment. I thought l just got lucky. I know by T&C is not allow to use gift card to buy another gift card. I just shared my experience what l did maybe l did the wrong procedure but l just want to test and it worked by technical. I might be very lucky that staff let me doing this. I know now the coles other store will not allowed everyone to use gift card for another gift card against T&C policy. I will really pay attention for next time purchase a gift card

  • Did you guys get Flybuys bunny's point for buying gift card?

    • +1

For Flybuys point to buy a gift card. Yes. You will get a standard point $1 spend to 1 Flybuys point. However you will not qualify a bonus point at all. For example spend $50 to receive 1000 Flybuys point or similar bonus like this from different Flybuys user. You will not received it for this bonus. I got a Flybuys point to buy this vanilla visa gift card.

I tried using these cards to pay my tax bill at Australia Post but they couldn't process it. I ended up paying via the ATO's payment portal directly. There is a limitation whereby for each PRN only 4 or 5 cards can be used in a 12 hour period.

There is a 0.40% card payment fee so for the:

    • $250 card, enter $249 when paying
    • $100 card, enter $99.60 when paying

It took many days to use up all my cards but happy to report that none have been hacked and all payments have been received on the ATO's end.

    • I've used 10 cards in each transaction($2500 per transaction) and up to 30 cards on a single day per PRN at different post office's.
