Nest Hub 2nd Gen $49 Sold Out
Nest Hub Max $249
Nest Audio $74 Sold Out
Nest Mini $29
All Google accessories

Yes, you need a Telstra ID. If you don't have one, a $10 prepaid SIM will work. You can also use your Boost number.

Update: Looks like you can check out as guest, no Telstra ID required.

Cheapest price ever for the Nest Hub Gen 2!

This is the 7" model without camera. You can use it for things like setting kitchen timers by voice, following recipes, watching YouTube, playing music, controlling your home automation, using it as a auto-updating digital photo frame with a very well-tuned ambient screen, getting weather reports, viewing CCTV cameras or your Nest doorbell, sleep tracking (requires a sub from next year), etc.

It also works great as a bedside clock as the screen can auto-dim really low. The screen colour temperature also follows the room's ambient light so photos look more like a printed photo than a bright blueish screen.

Deal starts Feb 9th 1am AEDT.

As with all these sorts of deals, stock would be limited so be quick if you really want one.

  • checked out using Telstra acct n order completed within 30 secs. On second thought though, should have used up my points…
    Buy another haha?

    • nest hub 17k points free delivery whereas nest mini is 10k but $5 delivery, alternatively nest audio at 27k

    • Same. Had some points forgot about as not a Telstra customer anymore.

  • Ahh.. should have used point instead of paying , is it possible to cancel?

    • Keen to know also. I want to cancel my previous order without using points, if that's possible.

      • Hope you are not looking at the hub. Cos they are OOS already.

  • Looks like the hubs are out of stock.

    • early bird catches the worm :-)

      • +1

Yeah I grabbed one at midnight. I'm surprised stock levels held out that long!

      • +2

Deal was up last night, shouldn't be the late owl to catch the worm? Lol

  • +1

Are the deals available in store or online only?

    • Should be in store as well. I read it some where.

      • On the telstra day open page?

Yep instore also, immediate satisfaction available if in stock.

  • google audio nice price

  • Cheers, just used some points to knock a few dollars off a Nest Audio, was missing a decent speaker for the outdoor patio.

  • Does the nest audio have a 3.5mm line in?
Just using a bose mini SoundLink with 3.5mm on my PC when not wanting to use headphones. Not sure if it's good for the battery always plug in

    • I believe it doesn't have a 3.5mm line in.

    • you can't overcharge it once it's 100% it's 100% and cycling it doesn't really matter so it's fine to leave plugged in, also just bluetooth to it

      • +1

        Cheers
Assume you mean devices in general. There is bit of a delay with Bluetooth so just easier with 3.5mm from the PC

      • you can't overcharge it once it's 100% it's 100% and cycling it doesn't really matter so it's fine to leave plugged in, also just bluetooth to it

It won't overcharge but keeping it at 100% constantly will shorten the lifespan of the battery.
It's easy to remove the battery with a few screws, but I'm not sure if it can run on USB power only. At least the battery can be swapped when it dies.

        • there's a lot of debate whether keeping it constantly charged shortens the lifespan, personally I haven't experienced it on my own devices

          • +1

@Irishness: Hmm, I didn't think there was much debate. It's a well-known thing with lots of research to back it.

            e.g.
            here
            here
            and here
            amongst others.

Companies like Lenovo, Apple, Google, and Samsung have also implemented battery charging limits where devices stop charging well before 100% to extend the lifespan.

        • Yeah which is why (with the Bose bt speaker) I charge it then take it off the dock, use it until low again and charge etc).

Not sure Im convinced a nest would work that well as go to speaker for the PC, but throught I'd use the Bose if sitting around, handy for teams calls, YouTube etc

          • @G-rig: the sound quality on the nest audio is a lot better than the standard nest but nowhere near as good as a bose speaker but for the money go for it

            • @Irishness: True, nothing Wrong with the Bose (just not a Smart speaker).

I have heard that the Audio would sound a lot better than best mini, still probably don't need one though lol

Nest Hubs already out of stock.

    • Yep, can confirm that - missed out while dicking round with the two factor authentication needed to log into Telstra!

    • It lasted 10 hours.

      • +1

Did not see the deal until this morning - and then had to deal with the TFA glitching, locking me out of Telstra and then their bot based help desk. Guess I was not meant to get one for cheap.

        • +7

          Did not see the deal

          Name checks out

@shmahoo: Ouch! Take my upvote. (And the eye icon was a nice touch)

  • Can the Nest Hub be used to view a EUFY Doorbell 2K camera?

    • I asked about this earlier. It can be used but the Eufy integration isn't great. Apparently it doesn't automatically show the doorbell view like it would with a Nest doorbell, and you have to press the notification to bring up the camera view.

      • Basically you can view on a bigger screen, and everyone at home can access instead of only you check it on your phone.

      • Thanks mate. Is there any lag time, and is there a sound? Do you mind sharing how you set it up? Just bought the EUFY Doorbell 2K camera and am thinking of getting a Nest Hub for the living room.

        • Unless I haven't set up correctly you can only use to view cameras when you select them on touch menu.
Nest will not ring or prompt you when doorbell is pressed.

          • @Mkak: Ah I see, that's not too useful then as it negates the purpose of a doorbell! Do I need to install the EUFY app on my mobile phone to get instant doorbell notification or can I just rely on the Google Home app?

            • +1

@xdigger: Yes eufy app, Google home app is fairly useless for eufy.

              • @Mkak: Did you try installing the EUFY app on the Nest Hub? I assume there's a playstore for the Nest Hub and it runs on Android OS?

                • @xdigger: No playstore, everything is linked from Google home app.
So you use cameras/doorbell but needs prompting by voice or touch, it will not ring or answer doorbell

These errors when I try and order are so frustrating.

No difference if it's incognito or not.
No difference if I use Passport or Driver's License.
No difference if I try two different credit cards.
No difference if I try using a guest account.

Also what kind of store only allows one item per purchase rather than a cart system.

    • If you already bought one with the same address, it will not work. Try to alter the address like Street instead of St. This trick worked for me.

      • I didn't buy anything and no matter what I did it wouldn't work.

        • Ok might be your IP? I have my VPN On initially with the 1st order and it worked. Then tried again 5 times with error. Turned off my VPN, use Mrs. name, used incognito mode, different cc, and different address and it worked again.

          • @johnyBgood: I tried with both my mobile (5G - Telstra funnily enough) and my home network, same issue. Tried the address difference (Street to St) as well and it didn't work. Haven't bought anything today yet either :(

      • I bought 2 with all the same details.

      • Even with different shipping address, still got the same error

  • got a nest hub thanks op!

  • Nest Audio gone

  • +1

Bought a nest hub in the sale, now after some research, none of my smart home devices will do much other than be controlled by voice - no support for Ring doorbells or Cameras, Brilliant Smart devices only controllable by voice, luckily it was only $49. Someone will be getting it as a birthday gift :D

    • +1

I haven't used a Nest Hub before, but I know that you can control Brilliant Smart devices via the Google Home app. I'm assuming you should be able to do so on the Hub.

    • +1

I have Brilliant Smart lights and they can be dimmed, colour changed, turned on/off by either voice or display on the Nest Hub. It does a really nice job with intuitive and easy to navigate controls

      • +1

Thanks for this - maybe it won't be useless after all, just no more support for Ring - looks like it used to be there but since the Amazon takeover it was likely pulled.

      • Brilliant…… the not so brilliant company

  • +1

So annoyed about the error that's stopping me from ordering this deal (even as a guest, different names, ID, cards and IP address) whoever does the website should be shot.

    • Licence and passport verification is stupid. Life WTF telstra. Seconded that the person responsible should be shot.

      • +3

It's probably because their online store was set up to sell their phones with plans which would require ID.

    • Probably be easier going to the store.
Didn't know it would accept boost ID, as it's still a Telstra email.

  • +4

Tried to buy online at home - get error message.
Drive to my local store - sorry sold out, told to go home and order online.
Explain the error, and that I'm happy to order and pay in-store, and collect when you get stock - sorry can't do that with Telstra Day sales. Have you tried the app?
Stand in the store, download app, sign in, go to order, and get same error message as web-site. Show message to staff in store and they tell me to go home and try again.

Nothing gives me the irrits more than being a real-life human walking into a real-life store and being told to go home and order online, especially when online doesn't work.

    • +2

just lazy I'm sure they could have called and ordered

      • +1

Most stores are not Telstra owned so probably can’t do this.
Eg. Only one store on the whole Gold Coast is company owned.

    • +1

That's Telstra quality right there, delivering a consistent customer experience at home and in store

  • Bought 2x hubs. Got the error when log-in. Then try guest check out still have the error. Tried logging in again and then do a proper log-out. Then successfully bought using guess check out. Used opera mobile browser. Possible that the website still thinks you are still logged in even when checking out as a guest, so you might need to log out from you account.

    • +2

After my post above, I thought I would try something similar. Shut down all my Chrome windows, opened up Firefox which has no Telstra login information, went to Telstra Day deals, and made successful purchase as a guest in less than 2 minutes. I really don't understand, so I'm officially a luddite…..

  • +7

I regret moving to Telstra so much right now, here's my experience thus far.

    • Stayed up until 1am to buy a few cameras
    • Bought 2 cameras then got hit with an error message, no error code provided.
    • Told to go in store to validate my ID (nearest store is 40 minutes away)
    • Went in store this morning, only 2 employees. Waited 25 minutes to be served.
    • Finally sat down, provided all ID documents needed and told that the online team is the only team to help me AFTER BEING TOLD TO COME INTO THE STORE.
    • Get home, open online chat and told the following from the chat cyborg;

"I have coordinated this with our internal team and I was advised that for unestablished accounts you can try again after 3-6 months, make sure to have a good payment history for at least 6 months and that only eligible for outright purchase."

    Telstra = Garbage

    • 6 months!! 🤣

At least Telstra is confident that we won't all be dead from the next epidemic outbreak by then…… or are they?

    • I also got errors and missed out on the Nest Hub.
I spoke with the online chat team and they told me they can't help me and needed to go in-store.
I went to a store today and there was a big line, and they didn't have any stock anyway.
Good I didn't wait in the queue, or I'd be running in circles all day.

  • Thanks, grabbed a max to upgrade my 7" in the kitchen, which will now be my bedside clock, replacing my mini, which will go to my brother along with my google home.

Signed in as guest on Telstra and it worked fine.

  • FWIW, the Nest Hub 2nd Gen's sleep sensing feature is excellent. Tell it when you want to be asleep, locate it properly on your bedside table and it'll tell you when you fell asleep, when you woke up, if/how much you snored/coughed, etc etc.

  • +1

Missed the online deal for the nest hub 2 but managed to get the last one in store. Recommend calling or going in to check stock. Can also pay with points in store too.

  • I went to a physical Telstra store today. The Nest Mini was the online price.
They didn't have any other Nest products though.

  • Bought one Nest Hub 2 at 1am, got confirmation email with invoice number (no order number), and credit card was charged. Messaged Telstra to update my delivery address but they said they can’t find my order. Decided to wait, perhaps their system isn’t updated yet. Then later in the morning ~9am I bought another one using Telstra points. This time I got a confirmation email with the order number. Now, that second order has been dispatched with delivery tracking but still no update on the first order. I have a feeling Telstra f’d up that first order but we’ll see in the next days.

    • both my 2 orders before 1am AEST received auspost notification, one is on the way est tomorrow and another is processing. both only received invoice number.

      • No order number on your confirmation as well? I wonder why they have two versions of email confirmation. Fingers crossed mine is just late dispatching.

        • No, but those hubs are definitely moving according to auspost. Don't worry

    • I ordered about the same time early this morning. Same only have email with invoice number and cc charged.
      Will wait and see

      • Same here. Will wait and see.
Their email says "Your order should arrive within 7 days if you're in a metro location." and "Your delivery tracking details will be emailed once your order is shipped."

        • Got sms notification for delivery today. Odd no other email though

        • Surprisingly it was delivered today. Great!

    • Same :( drove to a store and wasted about 3 hours on the phone to be send to the telstra chat. Confirmed from chat that an order number should arrive within 48hr. Why? Telstra service is so bad!!!

The store have hub mini’s in stock too and wished I had just picked up in store :( but no doorbells in store stock (which was the primary reason I want the hub).

I have a bad feeling my order is going to be cancelled even after my credit card has a pending payment for the doorbell and hub :(

    • Same issue. I contacted them via online chat at 8 am this morning and sorted it out for me. I just got the nest hub (just a few hours after..really fast)

      • Mine now shows in Order Tracker but realised it doesn't have my unit number in the address. Don't think it will be delivered. It's a pain to get Telstra to update my delivery address and Startrak won't allow me to update, says there's a restriction in the consignment that only Telstra can change address. Sigh.

    • How many points?

      • 17,000

        • Did it drop from 50,000 to 17,000 or did you part pay in $? I was waiting for a drop, but didn't see it happen.

          • @Master Bates: It dropped to 17,000 points. No additional $.

            • @zeno: Dang it, I missed it! I have a bunch of points to use, but nothing seems of great value. That would have made the cut.

  • Man, missed out, didn't notice it and didn't have an alert setup.

  • HUB MAX AND MINI are both OOS

    • Very surprised there is still a market out there for the minis

      • Maybe pair 2 mini to make a smart Speaker.

      • Hub gen 2 @ 1/5 the price of the max is pretty good.
Three max is pretty big, doesn't really suit some benchtops or bedside tables, not that many differences besides camera. Still not as good as a tablet ir anything so not worth spending too much personally (good if If you've got cameras though for the bigger display, it's just the apps and touch screen are limited.

Agree though, The hub 2 is worth $20 over the mini but mainly got it for the microphone (voice control), still handy but hardly necessary upgrading the mini in the bedroom. They do sound pretty tinny though.

      • I've got minis scattered all over my house. Great for me while I roam and listen to internet radio.Great in my shed too.

        • Yeah they are handy as part of your home group, and to pick up voice commands. I don't mind something discrete like those (and good if free/cheap it's not much of an outlay).

      • if it has a 3.5mm out then there would be, otherwise just to control IOT stuff

  • Interesting I made 3 orders for the Google Nest Hub and despite checking out as guest, they all appear in the Telstra app under 'Orders', all showing 'In progress' with their own order numbers. Must have been linked by mobile number because the account isn't even in my name (but the mob number is there). Tracking the order shows an 'expected delivery' date of 10/02/22 which seems wrong lol

    • just got 3 texts from Startrack with tracking numbers, delivery COB today

  • Been looking to get a second Nest Hub. This is great. Ordered one yesterday and just got tracking information from AusPost. Thanks OP. :)

  • Got my delivery. Nest hub.
