Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen $49 (OOS), Nest Mini $29, Nest Audio $74 (OOS), Nest Hub Max $249 Delivered @ Telstra

3500

Edit: It started an hour early!

Nest Hub 2nd Gen $49 Sold Out
Nest Hub Max $249
Nest Audio $74 Sold Out
Nest Mini $29
All Google accessories

Yes, you need a Telstra ID. If you don't have one, a $10 prepaid SIM will work. You can also use your Boost number.

Update: Looks like you can check out as guest, no Telstra ID required.

Cheapest price ever for the Nest Hub Gen 2!

This is the 7" model without camera. You can use it for things like setting kitchen timers by voice, following recipes, watching YouTube, playing music, controlling your home automation, using it as a auto-updating digital photo frame with a very well-tuned ambient screen, getting weather reports, viewing CCTV cameras or your Nest doorbell, sleep tracking (requires a sub from next year), etc.

It also works great as a bedside clock as the screen can auto-dim really low. The screen colour temperature also follows the room's ambient light so photos look more like a printed photo than a bright blueish screen.

Deal starts Feb 9th 1am AEDT.

As with all these sorts of deals, stock would be limited so be quick if you really want one.

    • Did they ask for ID? I’m delivering to my parents address and I won’t be there until later today… wondering if I should try and go earlier.

      • I got one of two and they just left it by the door.

      • In my case they auto "Authorised to Leave" due to Covid

  • Have people that used the guest checkout getting deliveries?

    • Confirmed that mine arrived next day with guest checkout

  • Both Mini and Nest Hub delivered this morning.

  • No notification of delivery details. All I got:

Great news! We've got your order.

    Quicker turnaround then expected

    • that's my thinking too

    • Mine was delivered and left at front door. Wife was home all morning and heard nothing

  • +1

Just received my order Nest Hub 2nd Gen via Startrack. Pretty fast.

  • Mine arrived this morning. 1 day delivery Syd to Melb is impressive and a surprise by Telstra.

    • mine arrived this arvo, Syd to Bris, good effort. So explain to me why auspost can take 2 weeks to deliver something from Melb to me in Bris

      • Just received my Nest Hub 2nd Gen via Startrack in Perth as well. Great speed Startrack and Telstra.

      • So explain to me why auspost can take 2 weeks to deliver something from Melb to me in Bris

Well StarTrack is a courier service so it is quick but costs more. Auspost Express Post is usually overnight too, although at the covid peak it did slow down to 2-3 days sometimes.

        • thanks, there was an element of sarcasm in my comment, it really shouldn't take 2 weeks from Melbourne though I understand you pay for faster delivery but auspost is shockingly bad and hide behind covid as an excuse, it wasn't great pre covid

  • Can we cast Spotify audio to nest hub gen2 without connecting the hub to Spotify account?

    • Yup. It just appears in the list of speakers.

  • It was on sale, and quickly OOS. today back to stock but price is $149. I wonder how they managed to get new stock this quickly !!!!!

    • +1

They allocated a specfic amount of stock for the sale. They do not have to sell every single unit in their inventory at the sale price.

      • Exactly.

    • Just another one of their many screw-ups. It was meant to be for Telstra customers but they allowed people to checkout as guests and order multiple units.

  • +1

My orders arrived. Very impressed with the speed of delivery (from Syd to Melb). However still waiting on one of the Nest Audio. Might have to contact support

  • Got a random addition to my auspost app, but nothing from Telstra. It is a startrack delivery for tomorrow so fingers crossed.

    • Arrived, but no shipping information from Telstra. Now to find a receipt for the warranty.

  • Received my 3x NestHubGen2, although since I kept getting errors when ordering the normal one, I only was able to select the charcoal for each of my orders.
But i received 2x charcoal and 1x normal, so pretty happy with that.

  • Perth resident here. Received mine today.

  • Got my Nest Hub Mini and Nest Audio delivered to the Gold Coast this afternoon! Super impressed all round with the products and Telstra’s service! 👍

    • Arrived in Melbourne today

  • Northern NSW, got my nest hub today…very impressed at the speed!

  • Received my Nest Hub order this afternoon in Melbourne.
    Never received any shipping notifications.
I’m sure I’ll get a “Your order is on your way” email next week :D

  • Nest audio review: Much uglier than Nest Mini, and the sound isn't much better. Regretful purchase.

    • Interesting. Thanks for sharing. So you reckon two Minis beat one Nest Audio?

      • Haven't tried 2 minis, but yeah I reckon they would be better. YMMV, sound quality is subjective, etc.

        • +1

YMMV, sound quality is subjective, etc.

Very true. The frequency response curve from the SoundGuys review is relatively flat with a large roll-off in the lows rather than smiley-curved so it's meant to sound accurate with the exception of the lows which usually come from a subwoofer or large woofer.

          From reviews online:

          https://www.theverge.com/21501300/google-nest-audio-assistan…

Obviously, the Nest Audio is louder and sounds better than the Nest Mini and is the better choice for frequently listening to music.

          https://www.soundguys.com/google-nest-audio-review-40330/

The Nest Audio sounds quite good for its size and performs well with a wide variety of media from spoken word to music. This neutral-leaning frequency response extends from 90Hz, and it means that music sounds close to how the audio engineers and artists intended—though some may not appreciate a lack of sub-bass emphasis.

          https://www.expertreviews.co.uk/google/1412469/google-nest-a…

Where the (original) Google Home was merely okay as a speaker (although it was great as a smart speaker), the Google Nest Audio absolutely smashes it out of the park. Not only does it deliver a much richer, fuller sound, but it also does so across music genres and it goes pretty loud, too.

However, What HiFi didn't like it:
          https://www.whathifi.com/au/reviews/google-nest-audio

According to Google, this speaker is 75 per cent louder, and has 50 per cent more bass than the 2016 Google Home smart speaker it succeeds. So, can you get an enhanced and room-filling sound with just one Google Nest Audio, as the company claims? Sadly not. While those stats may be true, it simply doesn’t equate to the levelled-up sound quality we had hoped for.

So maybe just don't expect hifi-quailty sound out of the little speaker and you'll be satisfied. :)

I still haven't unboxed mine as they're presents, but I would still go for a Nest Audio over two Minis. I have the original Google Home speaker and the lows and mids sounds much much better than the Mini, and the Nest Audio is meant to be even better than the original Home.

          • @eug: Hey some small speakers sound amazing (remember the Bose SoundLink Mini?)

Agree with the What HiFi cons: "Sound lacks weight and punch, Harsh through the treble, Not as room filling as expected."
I think it's also the Nest Mini gen2 sounds so good for its size. If I hadn't been upgrading from that I'd probably be happier with this one :)

            • @fredblogs:

Hey some small speakers sound amazing (remember the Bose SoundLink Mini?)

Yup, but the comparison was with the Nest Mini. I have that too and it sounds far worse than my OG Google Home which is the predecessor to the Nest Audio.

I have the SoundLink Mini too, it has amazing lows for its size, but could definitely be better in the highs.

I think it's also the Nest Mini gen2 sounds so good for its size.

Oh! I have the original Mini. If the Gen 2 sounds better then that could explain why you found it closer to the Nest Audio.

  • My hub gen 2 can't seem to ' resume show on Stan on living room tv'..? The Chromecast with Google TV is the living room TV. I did have the actual tv in the home group also, in the living room. Removed that as it was thinking that was the living room TV lately.

Any suggestions would be good, it just brings up the controls window and does nothing on the living room TV? Bit of a gimmick anyway but $50 is alright. Cheers
