Love my two mx keys but the first one I got has this issue where it keeps flashing backlights on/off when I’m not at my desk. Not sure if it’s thinking there’s a hand or something nearby or what. Some people did report they got warranty swaps but seems like a PIA as it’s not a critical issue and I just turn it off at the switch when not at use now… not really a solution you should resort to for such an expensive kb imo.

MX Keys firmware up to date?

      • +1

I need to check it but I had no idea it even had FW updates available! Wild.

          • +1

@Twix: @Twix, thanks, last update was 7-1-22, 5 weeks ago. I think I checked this page when I first bought my MX Keys and have never updated it since.

          • @Twix: Haven't been able to update the firmware for months. macOS 12 not supported

            • @xyzzyxyzzy: I'm not a macOS user but it says macOS 12 is supported.

              Software Version: 9.50.122
              Last Update: 2022-01-07
              OS: macOS 10.15, macOS 11, macOS 12.0

              • +1

@Twix: Nah that's LogOptioins, not the firmware update tool. And when I was on macOS 11, the tool has never discovered any of my devices

    • +1

Mine had a similar issue when I first bought it (back during the start of Covid), but I've updated it since and it hasn't been an issue. But now I just leave the backlight off since I don't really need it.

      • Got mine at similar time! Had no idea it had FW updates, will try

    • Same issue with one of mine (purchased last week). Firmware has been updated to the latest.

      • It's a feature.

    • That's not a fault. It does that when it's searching for a Bluetooth connection. Mine does it too. You should switch it off to save battery!

  • +1

Suggest turning off the backlight unless you really need it.

Extends battery life before recharge from about a week to multiple months (testing it myself now).

Weekly mx keys post for $150, expecting 100+ upvotes

got this keyboard last week with pricebeat at Officeworks. $141. Nice keyboard but be aware of angle..the ridge underneath at back isn't that high so the downward slope of the keyboard face is very gentle , might be an annoyance to some ( I was used to keyboards typically with higher angle) ..and probably more annoying..within a week the space bar is creaking like an old shoe when used. Look it up on the net apparently very common issue with this model, not ideal when its a "premium" keyboard.
Otherwise it is very nice, nice typing feel and backlight works very well.

Got this from the amazon deal last week and still getting used to it but very much liking it so far

  • Broke my shift key on this keyboard anyone know a good source for replacements?

  • -1

I want to get the fancy matching mouse that goes for about $120

  • +1

My doesn't auto turn backlit on when in dark, I have to press dim or brighter first before it comes on. ANyone?

    • +1

It'll turn on in the dark, but it also turns on during the day in a well lit room thus wasting battery. Ive since just left the backlight off to conserve battery, only turn it on when needed.

  • Is there any reason to choose this over a wireless mechanical from keychron, royal kludge, etc?

    • +2

MX Keys is quieter to type on.

    • +1

Some people prefer mechanical, others don't, personal preference really.

    • +5

I generally prefer mechanical keyboards, but I got the MX Keys for work. Mainly because I wanted something quiet. I usually do other work during Teams meetings and someone commented that they can hear my mechanical keyboard clacking away.

I also bring it to the office and I don't want to be that person with the loud keyboard.

    • +1

I've got the MX Keys and use it at home and work. No complaints at all.

However I'm keenly waiting for Keychron to release the new full-size low-profile model (K5) using the gateron low-profile switches.

After having a Logi G610 with MX browns, I'm loving the low profile of the MX Keys and I think (hope) the K5 will be just as good!

Fantastic keyboard I highly recommend it.
Though I wish they would also sell it as a bundle with the MX Master 3 Mouse with the appropriate bundle discount.

  • Seamlessly type, copy and paste across two computers.*

    • Like several free programs allow you to do without a Logitech product.

Same with sharing mouse keyboard input …

    • +2

Yeah, Flow is basically like Mouse Without Borders.

What Logitech should be doing is to sync up their keyboard and mouse, when user switch channel on keyboard, there should be an option to automatically switch the mouse also.

  • +2

The keyboard is really good but last time digiDirect took a full month to send me mine even though it said in stock. Better price match somewhere else.

  • +2

Anyone had the Logitech K800 Wireless Illuminated Keyboard and then bought the Logitech MX Keys.. How do both these keyboards compare?

  • Looks cheap

  • Thanks for the deal, is there a cheaper option for similar? Thanks in advance.

  • +1

if only this had touch id

  • Didn't need it but got one anyway, thanks!
