    Extra liquid metal?

    • +1

Although that was for the HX90 , i'm sure they'll have a similar experience for their liquid metal implementation but i personally haven't bothered to check if they have updated/improved on it .

      • Wow— that was scathing! I'll pass.

    • The youtube reviewer's review product is a obsolete HX90,not the final saleable version, the actual HX90's liquid metal has no problems at all, they clearly explain this in their facebook account (MinicforumClub) and the product has been well received by many customers!

  • Is the Windows 10 Pro that comes with the SSD/RAM package activated?

    • You need to install it yourself, you will be provided with a Win10 license and key

Does anyone know if the network interface has good compatibility with ESXi and/or other hypervisors?

    • Interested to know this.

      • +13

You two are so made for each other..

    • HM90 does not provide technical support for ESXi

  • Better off buying a 5600g and the minidesk x300 plus RAM and SSD for around the same price.

    See build here:
    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BYlZPjxoxHs

    • Without considering price, HM90 wins with the number of USB ports (both front/back) and network interfaces. Also HM90 has Wifi6 by default - so that might also be useful for some people.

How much CPU/GPU performance difference is there between this CPU and 5600G?

Also interested in idle power consumption level - important for 24x7 use cases.

      • +1

        12W idle, 74W gaming

        • Thanks!! This seals the deal for me for a small homelab server

          • @CoronavirusVaccine: Hope this goes well for you! I've just built mine and it works a charm with the stock 5600G cooler if you remove the shroud (following the build in the video I linked).

Be wary that the X300 needs BIOS version 1.70 to support Ryzen 5000-series APUs. Mine came with that BIOS version already loaded (bought from SkyComp technology), but if it is a lower version, you will need a 2000/3000/4000 CPU to do the BIOS update.

            • @jonahmvp: Thanks for the heads-up, I didn't know this so thank you for saving me from a potential pitfall.

In the background some people thinks Ryzen 6000-series might be worth holding out for if one can wait. The new graphics is supposedly amazing. But the counter to that is there's considerable uncertainty around DDR5 availability.

Quite a long wait though, it'll be a while before that trickles through to desktop APUs and also new chipset/socket….

  • was the metal money-shot problems solved? as in a new manufacturer?
