You can still buy games, I don't understand how people confuse Game Pass as the only method of accessing games. You can buy discs, digital AND use Game Pass, it's not one or another.

      • Also it's not renting per se. You pay a subscription and you can play any games on game pass.
It's not like you're renting a specific game and that's the only game you can play.
Also there is definitely a benefit if you're planning to finish the game. Don't have to resell it.

Wow still not oos. Good to see finally the consumer market is somewhat saturated with this

  • +2

could be a record - 20 hours and counting

  • +2

Have been on the waitlist for a PS5 at my local JB since before Christmas. Finally giving up and succumbing to Game Pass.

  • So tempting with Game Pass but still just waiting on a killer app to finally take the plunge.

  • +1

When I preordered mine in November last year. It came in 2 weeks.

  • "Strictly 1 per customer"

That means if you have purchased one from a previous drop from them - you aren't eligible right?

    • +2

      It's 1 per drop.

      • Not my experience.

I bought 1 during the late January drop.

Then I ordered another in yesterdays drop.

Logged into my account today - and noticed my order has been cancelled and $200 refunded to my card with no explanation.

        • Huh that's weird, did you contact customer service about it? I was under the assumption that it was one per drop.

          • @mangobango: I ordered one in a previous drop. Changed my mind and sold it at RRP. Have since wanted one and pre ordered last night with no cancellation

          • @mangobango: I will call tomorrow to ask why my order is cancelled - just to confirm our theories

But I have no doubt that it is because I bought one in the last drop.

I preordered about 15min after it went up for preorder yesterday - so I would have been one of the earlier ones to place an order.

And it just gets cancelled - no cancellation email or anything. I wouldn’t have known without checking my order history and then checking my card and noticing $200 was refunded.

            This is really petty….

        • I bought one last year in July…. Past it on then decided to try again last drop(not this one) got declined, also declined for this one lol. They cross reference cards, address, accounts, ect. Probably why it’s stayed up so long. Resellers probably finding it harder to buy lol

          • @Splashtash: So “strictly 1 per customer” is “LITERALLY” 1 per customer for all time - not 1 per drop!

            That’s petty….

            • +1

@proudwanderer: It really isn't, it's so hard to buy one. If you got lucky and bought one previously, that's more than most people were able to do.

  • Back in stock, amazing!

  • Anyone been given an ETA?

    • +1

Yeah I just went to put down some more money via a trade-in, and asked the guy about an ETA. He told me the consoles have been shipped so he suspects they will be here next week. I went to eb games Warwick in WA btw.

      • Cool, I'm in WA too so that's promising.

      • Nice. That store is close to my place. Will visit this weekend.

  • Got a call from my local store and picked mine up yesterday! Pleasant surprise. Greater Brisbane

    • That's great. Looking forward to get mine hopefully soon. (Northern suburbs of Melbourne).

Does anyone know whether the amount due can be paid by GCs? If yes, where to find decent dscount on EB GCs?

      • Yes, that's what I did. 8% discount on my company's discount program at the moment. But can't help you for where to get them sorry.

        • Thanks. The best I can find is 6% discount via Suncorp.

          • @Krishg: Keep an eye on those Gift Card deal from Coles/Woolies (10% off). Ultimates Kids can be used at EB Games, iirc.

  • Got a call from local store today and went in and picked it up (Mackay QLD). Happy as. Now just can't find a second controller to buy.

    • Yeah I had to buy a shonky third party wired controller! But it's for my younger brother to use occasionally so seems fitting

  • Make sure you don't miss the call from the store as in my case there wasn't any confirmation email to let me know it's ready for pickup.

  • Received mine today (Epping VIC)

  • +1

anyone got a call from Ebgame in WA?

    • Not yet :(

      Hopefully by the weekend

      • Cool. Thanks mate. I thought they forgot to call me.

        • I've had the same paranoia haha

          • @droninglocust: Also waiting patiently here

            • @ChatGPT-4: I called EB Games Warwick (WA) this morning and they said they might receive stock today, but otherwise Monday/Tuesday next week.

Doesn't sound promising that we'll get our consoles today, but you never know. A user on Whirlpool forums said he got his yesterday, but they were SoR.

              • @droninglocust: Got the same line from my EB (regional WA) yesterday, but noticed mine has gone from ‘Processed’ to ‘Pending Release’ on my account overnight, with the ETA of the new batch (31/3). So looks like it might not have even been dispatched yet 😕

            • @ChatGPT-4: Woop, woop I just got the call

    • Not yet but I called Armadale and they were expecting them to arrive this week.

  • How does flight sim run on this? comparable to PC?

It's pretty brazen to ask for a deposit. It's not like EB couldn't sell the units that do not get picked up by the people who pre-ordered. Let's call it what it is: a way to help their cashflow.

    • +4

They require a deposit for all their pre-orders.

Can't argue that it doesn't help with cashflow, but imagine EB Games get say, 500 units on this allocation. 500 people in some country town decide to "pre-order" and never pick it up. Then they're all sitting there and no one else can grab them unless they pay extra for the delivery fee if they order online (if EB games even ship from stores).

It makes people second guess their pre-orders so those who actually want one can get one.

      • +1

Also helps add a cost to a highly scalped product. If a scalper needs to lay out hundreds to scalp then it deters at least some of them, surely.

    • +1

It is refundable if you changed your mind. Also, if it is one pre-order per account, it somewhat helps making it harder to scalp these.

I "think" you are unhappy about the pre-order amount. With Covid, most IT products now take a while to reach here. It is certainly weird that pre-order prior to launch required $50 to $100 deposit. Now, it is $200. Perhaps it is a sign these consoles will be easier to get (so EB wants to ensure you really want it). Most likely to make it harder for scalpers.

  • +1

still available to order after 2 weeks wooow

    • I’m noticing more stock of tech in general last month or so. I have a brother in logistics and he’s also said there’s been a bit more movement of product in general. Could explain why. Also welcoming the general drop in pricing too (not this product).

      • Items from overseas seem to arrive here faster than about a year ago (for cheap items). I also noticed AliExpress started consolidating my items (put items I purchased from multiple sellers in a bigger envelope). The increase in oil price might cause the postage cost to go up again. :(

  • Are these still very hard to get? I got mine through Telstra without having any services with them except an old email.

    • Nah not really, pops up at EB Games/Microsoft store once a month or so now.

  • +1

Demand for Xbox is being fulfilled. We are going to see it on shelves soon.

    • Also soon on Ebay RRP I reckon with good stackings to get it well below $700 .

      • Sure when they have enough stock, some promo deals will coming.

  • FWIW if you want another controller (and also not in a big rush to get one) then might be good to wait for Microsoft to have it back in stock.

    Series X - $749
    Controller - $89.95
    Total - 838.95

    Cashrewards/Shopback 1.5% cashback (pre-GST) - $11.33
    Shopback 10% gift cards savings - $83.90
    Total savings - $95.25

End price after savings - $743.05

So you pretty much get a second controller for "free", plus save ~$6 on the console.

    • If you don't want the extra controller, would the total price after savings be even lower?

      • Yep, but yesterday when it was in stock they forced the extra accessory so you had to get one (or a headset or something).

For comparison, if next time they don't need force the extra accessory:

        Cashback - $10.11
        10% gift cards - $74.90
        Total savings - $85.01

        End price - $663.99

  • Got the call from Warwick! The wait is over.

    • Collect now?

      • +1

Yep! Well, I'll be collecting in a few hours.

  • Where is the Halo Edition..

    • Sold out, wont' be coming back in again according to Microsoft

  • I only have option to Zip pay the deposit. When picking up, I should be able to just get this refunded and pay the whole amount in gift card right?

  • Wondering if anyone noticed if there was a trade-in option (I have Xbox One S) associated with this deal? I’ve paid deposits for both Series X and PS5 at EB and trying decide which to keep. Appears I won’t be able to access the $495 with trade-in (PS4) deal for the PS5, so wondering if I can trade in my One S and get more than the standard $170 off this deal (Series X).

Other options I’m considering are trading in the One S for a Series S or selling the One S on FB marketplace.

  • Picked mine up lunch time today, Bathurst store. Ordered on the 12th.
