        Is crypto dead yet?

        • +3

It's not dead but the current situation with Russia and Ukraine is driving the markets down, therefore less profitable.

I'm not trying to be political or start any debates on this, so please refrain people :)

          • -3

@Ausdave: Still booking $500 per day. Depends on what you trade

          • @Ausdave: storm in a teacup

and bull run in crypto isn't over

gpu price drop is only temporary

            • +1

@desync: Hey everyone, the cryptobros are here

        • +1

          Nope

    • +1

Yeah but its a MINI, so its very special to someone here before haha.
Plus it has been this price before, so bet it will keep falling:

    • Basically got this same card from the 10% off sale at shopping express at the same price, 710.

It's a good time to buy, but if you wait another month who knows, could reach 500 even

    • What this has been $499 in the past?

    • +1

This card should be like 250.

  • +8

deals like this constantly remind me of my bad $1500 purchase of the same card at the height of the graphics card boom.

Let this be a lesson for not HODL and giving up the ozbargain license.

    I failed

    • +10

      F

    • Unless you were desperate and didn't have a card?

    • +2

Are you the person typing this on every ozb gpu post? Are they paying you for this

        • -2

          Need dem up votes.

        • Lol without being as harsh. It's insanity for someone to buy a low end card for $1500. Honestly it's one of 2 things he's a liar or really clueless

        • It’s about being open and gives an opportunity to reflect..
It’s good to remind and to give context to the community of events that just happened just 5 to 6 months ago . I don’t intend on on spamming comments forever but just wanted to nightlight prices have come along back to these levels Ini a relatively short period of time .

          Stupid idiot purchase …yes …
Education value to fellow ozbargainers … priceless

Pd I Am NOT affiliated with any of the posters or sellers. it feels like I’ve been criticised for being consistent with my comments

    • +1

      Wtf. I paid 1500 for my 3080

    • +3

Meanwhile paying 1200 for my 3080 before gpu drought.

      awkward monkey puppet meme

      • Target 1200 or 4080

      • That's about as good as prices were for the 3080 right? Did you get yours from PLE?

        • Yeah. Waited like 3 months for it but well worth it in the end.

          • @OzBMate629: Same, waited ages but managed to nab one on the night, wasn't going to but the prices were really good.

    • +1

Its ok buddy. At least your are honest about it. Back then things were so gloomy and it was hard to see the GC industry bounce back from the acute chip shortage.

    • +3

you're still better than those who bought 14 months old ex miners 3080 FHR at $2200…

    • 1500 is more than I've spent on all GPUs combined in the past 15 years.

  • +1

    good price

  • +1

Traditionally, the ITX cards usually sells for a higher price than standard 2 or 3 fans versions.

    • +1

How long ago is traditionally. Now ITX cases are getting to the point of being able to fit all 2 fan cards and some smaller 3 fan cards.

      • Yea, my velka 5 2.0 fits a 2 fan 3060 xc at 4.9 litres.. The dam thing is tiny.

Some of the sub 10L cases, dan a4 etc can fit some 3 slots cards

      • Before the current GPU crazy prices, when I bought my gigabyte 1660 super mini ITX card (1.5 years ago?), the standard cards of usual 2 or 3 fans versions were selling for ~$300-$390, while the mini ITX was selling for $350-$450 (while MSI's Aero was ~$390-$499) depending on seller.

I was/am doing ITX on a budget, and when I built my SG05, NR200 didn't exist, and I couldn't justify the high cost of the "boutique" cases where there isn't a local seller but mainly online retails that charges USDs without protection of ACL.

I had total of 3 cards that fitted the case before, 1060 6GB Windforce (had a G1 Gaming version first but that was too long so I sold that one), relatively standard length card, then moved onto the mini version of 1060 6GB, and then 1660 Super Mini version. AMD had been the better value releases but unfortunately all the reasonably priced AIB cards are either too long or too thick (2.5 slots) than what I would consider an easy fit (I was running two intake 120mm fans with an AIO so I had smaller clearance than the full length SG05 could offer).

        • NR200 is awesome best itx case I've built in… I have a 240rad and had a 5600xt triple fan 2.7 slot card in it fit perfectly… Now I have this card and yep it's smaller but it's a lot louder so it can be annoying… I'd Def go for two+ fans if I ever upgrade in future 🙂

          • @scud70: I undervolt my 1660 Super and adjusted the fan curves so the fan only starts to run at 55C (40% fan speed), and never go over 70% fan speed. So that kept the noise level quite acceptable (the fan never really kicks in when I'm not gaming and my peak temp is ~80C).

Personally I still quite like the size of SG05/SG13, but yea NR200 is a very good case for higher power ITX builds. Personal favourite cases, with regards to size, are InWin Chopin (for builds not needing dGPU), the SG05/SG13 (only if the vertical and horizontal dimensions can be flipped, but ah well) for mainstream/moderate power builds, and then the NR200 for higher power builds.

            • @zrmx: So these are generally noisier cause smaller heatsink surface and single fan?

              • @Italkdigital: If you crank the OC up to maximum performance, then yes in general (unless you compare it to two fan cards that have garbage heatsink implementation). Although the actual performance difference is quite minimal, generally within 5% (which is 3fps if we are talking about 60fps, or 5fps if we're talking about 100fps, ie doesn't make much difference in terms of experience) margin when you tune/undervolt it.

  • Suggestions for smallest case to chuck this into that aren't special order from some obscure overseas vendor charging an arm and a leg?

    • I really like my metalfish S3 (around 5L) but it is most definitely is from an obscure overseas vendor(aliexpress or taobao). fairly cheap though. also once you get to that size you start having noise and/or heat issues. SG13 at 11.5L is a widely avaliable and cheap option for a small case.

    • SG05, SG13

    • +1

Smallest doesn’t mean it’s the best tho. Do you mind the noise of a 1u PSU? If not, consider this open platform case
      https://xtia.design/products/xproto-mini
I would say most massive production cases like SilverStone or NR200 wouldn’t be smallest because they need to think about what the most itx market customers want. So smallest cases can only be small volume or DIY and the only place to check this out is TAOBAO/Aliexpress.

      • Definitely, just trying to gauge if there are any cheaper/ local cases that make this worth getting. For stuff like the nr200 there's no point, as that case fits most full length cards anyway.

Holding for a Sub 1k 3070. It is bound to happen.

    • +1

If you hold long enough there'll be sub 50x series cards too.

    • That will happen in the next 2-3 weeks.. Keep holding, it's worth it.

      • Seems some big news will happen in next 2-3 weeks time that will shock GPU prices and making them crash.

  • Have not seen good prices for for 3060 TI for a long time…

    • +1

      This is not a Ti.

      • +1

Yeah I know, I'm just saying that we haven't seen 3060 TI on special for a long time.

        • The last 'special' on a 3060Ti sold out before I could post on OzB. That was December 2020, too.

          • @ATangk: How much??

            • @Scythic: I got my ROG Strix 3060Ti (Non-LHR) for just under $700…

              • @ATangk: 😭 I want one at that price too

                • @Scythic: Well, it makes it so its impossible to justify upgrading to anything more… The card is so overengineered (uses same cooler as the ROG Strix 3080) that the temps never go above 60 deg C in a silent enclosed case, even at 100%.

  • would this fit my motherboard
    https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B360M-GAMING-PLUS/Specificat…
whats the best way to check

    • Yes it will… It'll run at pci gen 3 speeds but it will not impact performance in any way.

What CPU are you running on that board?

Just one word of warning I have this card and it's loud… I use headphones so it's ok but under load it is annoying if you sit close. 🙂

      • ah yep
        cool thanks
        i7 9700k

        • Yep your fine on both fronts CPU and MB 🙂

  • +1

I already bought my mini card from lukeattheotherplace…

  • So when will the other models 3070+ come down in price? Patiently holding 😎

    • +1

      They are. I linked a 3070 ti for $1214.10.
If rumours are true it will be soon going lower

      • Ah thanks, missed it. I need to see my optometrist soon 👀

  • Waiting for 3060 TI for around $900

  • these gpus are so cute

    • Nvidiaphilia?

  • This is what I’m looking for to upgrade my getting old in the tooth 970 .. just wish it was 499 so it’s more easier to take

  • And yup, the prices are coming down: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/684944
