4400

20% off on The Good Guys gift cards when purchased at Australia Post from 30 April to 13 May.

PS: Although the deal technically starts on the 30th, some Australia Post outlets seem to be honouring the deal now.

PPS: Looks like the link has been photoshopped out of the Australia Post official catalogue. And the link has been removed from Lasoo. I've updated the link to the catalogue. It is on the bottom of page 5 of the catalogue.

I need $38 TGG gift card. Any one in Adelaide got a bit left over on their card? TA

    • +5

To save $7.60 why bother with the hassle or searching for more gift cards or wasting time and petrol on it.

Just spend the $38 and enjoy life!

      • My thoughts as well, for that much saving only enjoy your time as and hour of your time should be work more then $7.60 looking for a card.

      • Agree! Think of the opportunity cost mate.

      • posting a simple comment is not really wasting his time…and if he is purchasing online/over the phone (could probably even get them to punch the numbers in store), then he doesn't need the physical card: no petrol.

i might have some money left over that i have no use for, which i would have happily emailed Blinda the codes to use online…however, i'm not sure what i'm going to spend them on yet, so not sure how much leftover i will have. sorry!

    • D'oh. rite.
Put a deposit for an iPad last nite. The waiting list is like 20+ ppl and they only have 10 coming next batch (not sure when. The second batch will be in June? Maybe).
So I guess while waiting for the second batch, might just ask any one got some left over on their gift card.

      • fair enough- which store was this btw? i am also looking to get a new ipad

        • Edwardstown.
23 ppl on the list for white iPad 16gb wifi
20 ppl for Black 16gb wifi, by last nite
          20% deposit.
Big W have some if you dunt have giftcards.

Oh, they do have a 16gb wifi 4G in store which I dunt want.

  • Pretty disappointing if Good Guys are not allowing Cards with baragined prices. Actually its bullshit.

    • Cards say something about cash on them don't they? "Loaded with cash" :p

      "Paying Cash or Card?"
      "Card" < Doesn't say it's a gift card ;)

  • +2

Got $1700 worth at Kalamunda PO - cleaned them out. New dishwasher time :)

  • went to TGG today had a look at some stuff. was surprised how overpriced they were. Only real benefit if they pricematch, if they don't that sucks.

  • Picked up the new iPad 16gb wifi & 4g at TGG Frankston for $634. They said they received some stock just this morning. So after 20% discount I have effectively paid $507.20.

There was no problem at all using the cards. Very happy with TGG.

    • how did you get the 4G 16gb down to $634? TGG are selling for $679 (Big W $668) and the stores I have been calling (NSW though…) were not matching any competitors as they have no stock…

      • I just asked what was the best price they could do.

        • I have one on hold for $625. Seems some stores are much better at negotiating prices!

  • Winter is coming~~~

Got advised by Australia Post Online Team that if your order cannot be fulfilled within 7-10 days, the order will be simply be cancelled automatically and money returned…

and no reimbursement for your troubles. Shock!

call them to find out where you are on the queue of 600 orders

    back to praying….

    • ordered pretty much straight away as soon as the website went live with the TGG cards. Ah well, we'll see

    • That doesn't sound promising. I'm going to ring and see what they say.

Edit: well this sounds like its going to end in tears. The have oversold themselves and are trying to source cards from interstate. Probably trying to source the cards from POs all over Australia. But not many have any left. My order ended in 3626x

  • Anyone saw this guy on ebay??
    http://bit.ly/IZUxQv
He got $12800 worth gift card.
Wondering where he got his cards from…

  • Any idea if one should continue bothering to find some gift cards? Tried many PO in metro Adelaide n nun left

    • Nothing left from the southern suburb

  • Called 33 post offices in Victoria (All over the place) and found about $300 worth (collectively!).

  • Got reply back from Auspost & really disappointed
    Thank you for your email.

I would like to advise you at the beginning of this week a preview version of the Australia Post website was located and posted on OzBargain.
This site was not a link to the official Australia Post Online Shop. Changes have been made to ensure this does not occur again.
Unfortunately your order has not been processed and will not be honoured as it was not placed through the official Australia Post Online Shop. No payment has been taken from your card.
Due to unprecedented high demand, we have sold out of The Good Guys gift cards online and in retail outlets. We expect additional stock to become available next week.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience that this may have caused.
    Regards,
    Helen Titchener

    • On the brighter side, the fact that they are replenishing next week means that we all still have a chance of getting our hands on some.

    • +1

Take note (as i said on page 13) of the possibility of them cancelling your order because they can't find stock within 7-10 days

Ozbargainer: Will you be notifying me before cancel my order?
      AustPostOnlineTeam: no
OB: Can I explicitly request for my order to not be cancelled automatically or manually?
      APOT: ehhh…
OB: So if you find stock only after cancelling my order like on the 11th day, am I eligible to be first in line?
      APOT: no
OB: Will austpost be compensating us for the "technical mistakes"
      APOT: no…

      where's the justice?

    • So the fact that it was one of the top results on a Google search is fine but it's an issue cos it was posted on OzBargain!?

If you really want the cards I would be saying you know nothing of this "OzBargain" and you did a Google search, clicked on a link to what looked like the official Auspost website and placed your order. It would have been a very easy mistake to make and its their own fault for making it publicly available.

    • It is no way Aus Posts fault that the wrong URL was posted on here or that a Google search suggest a possible option.
If it was Aus Posts official post on OzBargain fine, but it wasn't.
They can't be held responsible for someone else's actions.

      • How is it not AusPosts fault that they published their UAT site to the general public. Anyone that did a google search for "AusPost good guys gift card 20% off" was directed to the UAT site, the normal site did not even come up in the search results.. There was no way for the typical end user to tell the difference as it was fully functioning. The vast majority of people (including myself Initially) would have had no clue it was a beta site. This was clearly a mistake because the site now requires authentication, but it was AusPosts mistake.

        • You accessed a server not accessible through AusPost's regular website. You got there through a third party search engine.
At most they should give you an apology. The system didn't even take your money.

        • But whose fault it is that the UAT site was viewable to the general public is totally irrelevant. If you could place "real" orders (not test orders) through the UAT site in which real money was actually charged then for sure you'd be aggrieved if the orders weren't subsequently followed through. But it's nonsensical for people to be using the term "honour" a transaction when there was no transaction. The immediate auto-email response made that clear. Frankly, it amazes me that Australia Post was foolish enough to release an info bulletin midweek saying they would "honour" attempted purchases made via the UAT site. It was quickly reversed the following day when someone with a bit of sense realised the absurdity of the initial bulletin.

        • was there a mid week bulletin?

      • yes there was - an internal Aust Post directive

        • ok … wonder if the it dept got into trouble for allowing public access?
Also how does aus post determine if some orders are honored and some don't?

        • @ltw, the systems are entirely separate, not linked in any way.
You can think of it as orders being recorded in two different books, one real one and one a training manual.
UAT sites being public aren't the end of the world, no sensitive data was leaked.

  • Just went down to my local PO, picked up $500 worth. Still about $3000 left on rack, I was the first person to buy any…
So they are still out there

    • A location would be mighty helpful

    • You should vote this deal a +

    • Please inform so others in the area can try and source them.

    • Where is your local PO

      • Armidale NSW. The nearest good guys store is about 100kms away so that may explain why no one has bought them

  • +1

Just tried to get a pricematch on a PS3 at TGG in Chatswood NSW. Told they couldn't shift the price as I was using gift cards and that I had already received my discount. I told them I thought it was treated as cash and they said no deal. That was from the manager on duty. Pretty disappointed. Called Artarmon TGG to ask if they'd pricematch BigW's price and they said no before I'd even finished asking them. Feel sorry for anyone who bought these cards before a sale was on.

    • When I purchased my iPad today they didn't even bother about price matching. They just gave me their best price immediately, which was better than the price match anyway. And they did not ask how I was going to pay either.

    • I'm now hesitating to buy the gift cards. It's turning out to be a real saga.

      • I wouldn't worry about it. Don't even know why the issue of giftcard came up exccept I presume they were interested in CC charges before doing a better price. I would have just told them I was paying cash and left it at that.

    • i think the only thing worth it now is iPads, and they seem rarer than hens teeth

    • +2

Told they couldn't shift the price as I was using gift cards and that I had already received my discount.

      This makes no sense.

The cards only have a month and year on them, so how would they know that you didn't buy them before 30th April on special?

"I got the gift cards for my birthday 3 weeks ago champ…price match PS3 as per policy thank you kindly!"

…or better yet, buy it for whatever price, walk out, walk back in, and get 120% of the difference back ;)

      • Tell them you paid $475 for $500 worth from some guy on ebay….

        • Tell them you paid $1000 for $500 worth of giftcards and demand a 50% discount. This is ridiculous. I say stand your ground and threaten them with a call to ACCC. They are exploiting this deal.

    • Similar things happened to me as well in chats wood store, instead I was picking up my iPad.
I paid a deposit on a negotiated price on Wednesday but they told me It is no longer applicable and offered me a higher price.
I accepted the price but retained the original deposit receipt, i would give accc a call on Monday.

If any Southern Tamsanians are desperate theres $400 of GG cards as of today early arvo in Rosny Park

  • There is still a hand full of TGG'S cards at the Helensvale plaza PO if anyone lives close by.
For those that are getting knocked back for a price match I suggest you push the matter as the cards clearly state on the terms that they are treated as cash.
My local GG' s price matched BigW and when I paid at the counter the lady mentioned what a great deal it is through Aus post so I'm guessing some stores are just run by cowboys that have nothing better to do than make their own rules.

    • Assuming your local GG is the helensvale one, what was their stock levels like for iPads when you were there?

  • Just picked up an i-pad2 16GB Wifi ($398) from TGG highpoint and paid using my gift cards.
Guy wouldn't reduce the price, or price match Big W until i showed him the catalogue, which i had in the car anyway.

Lady at the counter rolled her eyes when i produced my giftcards, I just lol'd….

    • probably the same girl that served me.. asian girl?

    • its always perplexed me why employees care in these circumstances, I mean unless you are the owner of the franchise. Why would you congratulate the customer on finding the loophole to exploiting a deal.. I know I would.

      • its even more perplexing considering it's Aus Post who are footing the bill, not TGG.

  • For those who wont price match with gift cards.

Simply purchase the item and then quote their "120%" price guarantee. within 30 days.

I can understand them not doing a "deal"… but they surely MUST price match advertised pricing or its false advertising and you purchased under this 'false advertisement'.

    • +1

Our 120% 30 day price guarantee applies on all newly boxed, currently available stock of the identical model, advertised by a local competitor.

      • Local competitor - A local bricks and mortar storefront, actively engaged in The Good Guys local retail market.

^ Evidence of an authentic advertised price in a daily newspaper or catalogue, commercial radio or television.

I think a call to ACCC is in order here…

      • Don't get me started on price match guarantee's.
Office Works are the only ones that I have yet to have an issue with when it comes to beating a price.
Bunnings does it most of the time but it's begrudgingly.
Masters, well they only match when it suits them. By far the worst of the lot in my view.
Never tried the 120% deal with TGG's but that's because I'm not willing to purchase then try and get the, to honour it.

        • With price matching at TGG, if a deals only advertised online eg. Dick Smiths website and not in catalogues, make sure you go into a DSE store first, take a photo of the price then head to TGG. Otherwise they may claim that its online only price or some other BS- from experience.

        • +3

I tried price matching a Fujitsu Aircon.. it fit every criterion.. brick and mortar only store, advertised price (albeit the price was only advertised online). By the way, online advertising is a legitimate and very affective form of advertising. Just ask Google!

GG wouldn't budge on the price because it was below their cost. It was only 35 dollars extra so i wasn't overly fussed (plus i was armed with the 20% Giftcards). Bottom line is GG wanna turn a profit and will not turnover stock at a loss. In saying that, why have a price match policy if you're not prepared to see it through. It is false advertising and misleading, and they should be held to account. Remove it or suffer the wrath of the ACCC.

  • currently available stock… Most of the big W are out of stock..

  • For those in NSW…

Admiral on Whirlpool spotted Peter's of Kensington selling the manual Nespresso Essenza (EN90GYPLUS) for $179:

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1848055&p…

With the pricematch and $50 cashback, it would make it $93!

Just picked up another $1000 at Belmont Forum APO in WA.

The lady at the counter wasn't even aware that they had them in stock, and asked if there was anymore left on the shelves. The answer of course - No :P

    • Are you planning on sharing them or buying some big things? Good on you either way:)
None in Wangara and Kingsway BTW :(

      • Sharing them with 2 other family members. Picked up $1700 earlier today at Kalamunda, so 900 each works out nicely :)

    • Any more left after you got your $1000 gift cards?

      • +1

"The answer of course - No :P"

    • If anyone see's some cards in Wa, please post! Could do with $400… Thanks

  • Anyone know of any in Western Sydney?

  • Just left TGG Auburn. No problems negotiating a price and using gift cards today.
    Picked up a Dyson DC39 Allergy for $849 -> $670 - 20% = $536.

Picked up another $4450 from Aus post outlets all over NSW today, brings my totals up to $11150… Going to be doing a full lounge and kitchen revamp, im talking TV/DVD/Bluray/Tivo/Apple TV/PS3/IPAD/Home theatre/Cooktop/Dishlex/Microwave/Oven/Vacuum cleaner/Nespresso/Washing machine/Dryer/Air conditioner/Phone/Digital Camera/Router/GPS/ and of course one of those massage chairs!

Good for you! Did you call nearly all of them? Hah.

People whinging they can't find any are just too lazy to look hard enough!

(and it sounds like you just named everything you possibly could… pity The Good Guys don't sell kitchen sinks!)

      • tehy do infact…. I saw a kitchen sink and had to laugh on the weekend :)

    • show us your loots

When I spent 2400 to buy a fridge it took about 20 minutes to scan then all with the girl doing it non stop.

My advice- go on a weekday and seriously think about bringing them a box of donuts or cupcakes because using 11k would take well over an hour I would say

    • Which PO's did you go to?

  • Was reading comments on page 7 about grabbing gift cards from different retailers and purchasing them at Aust Post. Has anyone try doing this?

    • +1

Won't work as these cards are old technology. All the cards at the good guys are different products that won't be recognized at Australia post outlets

      • +1

Y would I get a negative vote for this?? Hahaha

        • Thats odd because i was going to share where i've found some of the older style gift cards. But nevermind going give it a try myself on Monday.

        • They're open today :D

        • How can you tell old from new??

        • I found some in the LPO but wouldn't sell it to me because he said it wasn't a cooperate store. But i think he just didn't know anything about it and i couldn't be bothered arguing. The cards i found looks exactly like the one in the LPO. Working today so cant make it to a LPO.

  • So any post office left in NSW or has everyone cleaned them out. Bought an ipad with them earlier this week and now my gf wants one haha.

      Who's paying? :)

Picked up a 16Gb New iPad from TGG in Hoppers Crossing this morning - they had a delivery yesterday and seem to have most iPads in stock now. Priced matched to Big W without too much fuss.

  • Bankstown TGG has like over 10 iPads in stock. … 16 gb and 32gb

    Enjoy

    • Seem like more TGG have iPad back in stock.

  • Just wanted to thank all the posters. Picked up $850 from local PO this morning, about $200 left. Tried a few TGG but the one in frankstion matched and beat shopping square 64GB 4G $820. =]
