  • Is macbook pro 16 m1 pro eligible for cashback?

    • +3

M2 will probably get released with in 10 days

      • +2

Wish they could release a 16 inch macbook air.

      • +1

It’ll be basic tho, just like the m1 13”

      • +1

M1 Pro and Max will still be better than M2.

        • -1

          Source?

          • +1

@Psygnosis: Wouldnt Apple kill their own current MBP14 & MBP16 line (M1 Pro/Max) if they make M2 Air (or MBP13) more powerful than those two?

          • @Psygnosis: A combination of tomato and every other source on the internet.

      • I doubt it. If anything they’ll release a new iMac with the M1 Pro and Max.

    • +1

$100 cap on the reward so I don't think it is worth getting a M1 Pro/Max 16 inch Macbook Pro with just $100 off, unless the education store price is attractive already.

    • I guess, but cashback for Apple Education Store is capped at $100.
should spend something around 1100, not 3449

  • +1

can you use Apple store credit loaded from giftcard and still get 10% cashback?

    • +6

I can confirm that using store credit is eligible for cashback
I purchased Airpod3 in black friday, spent $1 on credit card and remaining balance with store credit
able to get the 10% cashback with the ANZ Max rate (ANZ credit card)

    • +1

I paid for my order with giftcard in the last deal and got cashback.

  • +2

will cashback be void if you trade in an old ipad?

    • Good question ,I am having old iPad for trade as well
      Anyone can advise ?
      Regards
      DT

    • Dang was hoping someone would’ve had an answer for this by now!

  • so cant stack with 20x Flybuys Points with Apple Gift Card deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/684116 ?

    • +4

      You can.

Cashback is eligible on purchases paid with gift cards

      • +3

        sorry read it wrong

  • +2

How do you use apple GCs with cashback? Put them in your apple acct first and then buy? Last time I did it that way didn’t seem to track.

    • +1

You can redeem up to eight Apple gift cards at checkout by directly inputting the gift card code into the box on the payment screen. Click on Have a gift card? and you'll see the box.

      • what happens if you have already redeemed the gift cards?

        • You'll either need to redeem your Apple Account Associated Balance to pay for the purchase, or try your luck and ask Apple to return the funds onto the original gift card.

If you try the latter, you will obviously need the original gift card code in order to redeem the funds again.

  • +1

Yay more AirPods on marketplace for cheap!!!

  • iMac 27 inch is not on education store .. damn …

  • Does this include the NZ education store?

  • +9

Just a note from my recent experience that if you buy the MacBook which has a longer delivery time, Apple sent the AirPods first. Cash Rewards tracked only the AirPods price. After I received the MacBook 4 weeks later, CR still did not track it. So I had to make a claim, go back and forth to provide evidence like receipt, proof of shipping etc. When the receipt had the discount value for the MacBook, they asked if I used a discount code (which would invalidate cash back) so I have to explain everything. Eventually they put the MacBook cash back on pending, telling me it will take 30-90 days from the time I made the claim to get the partner store to approve, not from the time I made the purchase.

    • +6

I had the same experience, sent in a support ticket and they assured me that when the MacBook Pro ships, the rest of the money will track.

I’m kinda doubting this now based on your account.

      • +2

You will have to make another claim when you’re macbook is delivered

    • +2

Same thing happened to me too. Can the rep here help to make sure that we get the cashback?

      • +4

        Hi @leiiv @Buy2Much @R1ngSt1nger

Hi. You shouldn’t need to do anything at all. Your original tracked purchase should auto-update to the full & correct amount in your CR acct around a week after you receive confirmation of shipping of the final item. However, this could be as long as two weeks depending on when Apple pushes through the reports.

Please know you have nothing to worry about, and if there is any concern, all you need to do is PM me and I’ll gladly sort it out for you. Cheers :)

        • Thanks for the response TA👍 It was 10 days after my MacBook arrived and no update in my account, ping ponged back and forth with member services several times to answer routine questions and had to send a copy of receipt to prove my purchase, they also asked for shipping date confirmation email… but will PM you next time, would be quicker ;-)

        • Thanks for the confirmation TA.

        • Thanks so much!

        • I ordered an M1 MacBook Pro which was over $3000 and it had the $199.09 tracked which a cashback of $19.91 which was actually the bundled EarPods. What you are suggesting is I wait till I get the MacBook Pro delivered then to check that there’s a tracking for this. As the EarPods have been tracked from the sale I. And see how another cashback will initiate. But I will wait and see.

        • @tightarse will CR have another deal like this for education store before 7/3? Sadly missed it.

          • @HaruChan: Shopback offer is still valid til 7/3
5.5% cashback but you can’t use gift cards

            • @dorikin: Thanks @dorikin I am looking to buy iPad Pro but it’s excluded from the shopback offer.

  • +1

so tempting but think i'll hold out for the M2 Macbook Air… seems like there will be a big redesign..

    • I hope they get released before the airpods offer expires.

      • +3

        Zero chance. Maybe in September.

        • Earlier comment was saying it will be out in 10 days. But if it goes until September I'll wait till next years education discount 😅

          • @ozbargain-pashim: Probably either June or September event. There is a March 8 event which happens a day after the free airpods thing expires :)

      • +2

They have the spring event on 8 Mar but the education store promotion is ending on 7 Mar.
        They've planned everything.

        • yea i hate that

  • Not on Ipad 9 :(

  • +1

Will this work on iPhone 13? Or is it only for edu store which doesn't include iPhones

  • +1

I've been yearning for this but damn that $100 cap… I wish it were lower % without cap. So sad that i missed out 1st Feb deal

    • Which Feb 1 deal? The one posted on Jan 30 also has $100 cap but was only 8%

      • +1

This one, 5% cashback, no cap. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/680617

        • Oh yeah, good for those spending more than $2200

          • @Hellcrusher3304: ikr i'm about to get the MB14 $3039. Uncap would be really better.
Wondering if they would do another deal on March 3 but uncapped like how they did it with Jan 31 (cap) & Feb 2 (uncap)?

            • +1

              @123nkj: @123nkj @Hellcrusher2903

Hi guys. Please note there will be 5% (6% for ANZ Max) cashback uncapped on the edu store at the end of this promo until March 4 (unless Apple pulls it earlier).

  • I guess I can replace my lost apple pencil by buying a variable load $188 apple gift card, spending $1 on an ANZ card and get it for "under" $150. Sad day for losing things but best deal around I think?

  • Great deal

  • Is it me or does apple not have phones on education store

  • +1

Do they sell iPhones on the Education store? Maybe it's just me but the layout of the education store looks exactly the same as the regular store, so I'm not entirely sure if they've just redirected me back to the main store or if I'm indeed on the Ed store. I don't see any large ads for phones on the education landing page (unlike education related iPads/laptops) so that also muddies the water…

  • -2

Does 9th Gen IPad include IPad Pro?

    • +1

No, the 9th Gen iPad, refers to the entry level iPad

      • thanks.

  • Is it a good time to get iPad Pro 11" ? The only downside is the current model does not have mini LED display. Not sure if Apple will release a mini LED version next month.

    • I bought the iPad Pro 11" in August last year for uni and was highly disappointed in the screen. The pixel response time isn't great so there's lots of dark level smearing. Most people won't notice it, but for a device that boasts it's "industry leading display" it's hardly industry leading.
The larger model with the mini LED display has even worse pixel response times as well, so if it does come to the new 11" iPad Pro, I hope that they have redesigned it or fixed it somehow.

    • I’ve got a 2018 11” and I think its a beast. Tossing up the idea to get the M1 however I think there will be a new model not far away.
It is tempting though to get it now. Edu pricing + flybuys 10% off + free airpods (you’d get easy $150 for them on FB) + this extra $100 cashback.
      Not bad..

  • +4

:) Last weekend I did a video on buying MacBooks cheaper in Australia. I was talking about cashbacks and mentioned that max you can get is 10%. Really surprised to see 12%. But, the $100 cap ruins it.

    • +3

Great video, I've just watched it. Perhaps u might wanna mention although Union portal has the cheapest price but it won't give discounted AppleCare+ like Student portal (during promotion)?

      • Thank you. Too late to edit it :) Added to the description.

    • +1

You need to pay with your linked ANZ card to access Cashrewards Max benefits. So, combined with discount apple cards is better (another 10% -15% off)

      • Hmm.. I was not a ANZ customer. Will join and experiment. :)

  • I’d rather this deal- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/680617
I am looking at buying a new MacBook and the cap of $100 on this deal just ruins it for me.

    • +2

Hi. Please note there will be 5% (6% for ANZ Max) cashback uncapped on the edu store at the end of this promo until March 4 (unless Apple pulls it earlier).

  • I just made a purchase but I didn't receive a confirmation email from cashback.
Is this normal? Or do I need to contact them?

    • -1

      did you use gift cards?

      • Yes

    • +1

Just worth noting from the terms :)

Cashback tracks to member accounts between 2-7 days after you receive confirmation from Apple that the product has been shipped.

No need to worry yet as Apple take a bit of time to track.

  • Damn, bought an iPad yesterday :(

  • So, you are all uni students?

  • don't understand why ipad mini is not included

    • +2

Too new, too popular. Better off getting apple gift cards with the 20x bonus points from Coles.

  • Does apple balance also work for cashback?

  • Thanks OP. I assume we can't buy apple watch via education store?

    • +1

I’m fairly sure you can buy an Apple Watch through the Apple Education Store; it’s just that you won’t get any education discounts.

      • Thanks for reply.

But when I clicked watch, it seems that open the retail store website, not including 'au-hed', make me confused.

      • But you still get the cashback right? So effectively you can get ~20% off with coles promotion + cashrewards?

        • +1

I would have thought that if the URL has au-hed in it and there was a banner along the top that said Education Store Home, you were in the education store and therefore cashback would track at the higher rate. I’m not a CR rep though, so I won’t confirm whether that would definitely work!

You can use Apple gift cards from Coles to pay for items on the Apple Education Store, and it stacks with cashback, so an effective ~20% discount should be possible.

    • Is this the cheapest way to buy the apple watch. I believe Costco sells the base model 41mm for $574.
