  • Can I install a 3.5 HDD hard drive?

  • I find it interesting that this thing has both a USB-C port and PS/2 mouse/keyboard ports.

    • You can use serial port keyboard/mouse too :) Have to find one of those keyboard/mouse in museum though.

      • Haha. An old boss was a hoarder. Has an old PS/2 mouse and even though we had plenfiul USB mouses, he wanted to use that. Bought an adapter, plugged it in and the mouse didn't work (we happened to have a PS/2 keyboard on another old legacy machine and used that with the adapter to determine it wasn't the adapter).

  • Can I install a DVD burner optical drive in this system. If so, where can I get a cheap one from?

    • +1

Use something like this, portable - so you can use it with any computer or laptop. https://www.umart.com.au/product/lg-gp60nb50-slim-portable-e…

      • Appreciate the info, but if I wanted to put an internal optical drive in this system, is it possible?

Can I use an optical drive from an older dell sff system? Are they universal?

        • +1

Yes for putting an internal optical drive in this system, it is possible. But very few people would do that in 2022.
Regarding , optical drive from old system, have to match model number for height/width etc. from memory dell got few models with little bit height/width difference.

  • Might be worthwhile if I can delete Windows licensing, which I don't require. Comes up as $309 on amazon anyway.

    Thanks OP! Good find!

For what it's worth, I have previously purchased a refurbished Lenovo ThinkCentre M93P from this seller on Amazon. Good refurbished condition and fast delivery.

For those who are concerned about the Win10 longevity of this device, potential Win11 compatibility issues, are predominantly using web apps, and are open to trying a new OS:
    * converting the device into a Google Chrombook/OS, aka Chrome OS Flex - this Dell Optiplex 7050 appears to be verified for support - https://support.google.com/chromeosflex/answer/11513094?hl=e…
    * convert to Linux (e.g. Ubuntu)

  • Can this be turned into a NAS with 4 drives?

    • not enough space inside to support 4x HDD

  • Did the seller delete the item and Amazon keeping a copy of it?

It has been marked unavailable, there's no reference to the original seller. In fact there's a "visit Dell store" link, as if Dell was the seller.

    • Hi @browser, don't know answer to your question. However, I have received an email from amazon this morning "item dispatched" . also an hour ago received an email from Australia post that they have received my item from the seller and expected delivery between 10-15 March.

    • Also, don't worry about this seller. They are quite well known for selling old PCs specially old GOVT PCs. I previously bought 2 pcs from them both were from their ebay store when their rep posted deal in ozbargain. Both PCs (one lenovo and one HP) were in decent condition and still going strong. By the way they got a rep here, @Calmago , not sure if he'll respond though :) . You can also contact them on Phone: 1300 727 516. Email: [email protected]

      • No, wasn't doubting the seller, I know them well on eBay.

Was more of a general question about third parties selling on Amazon and what happens to their listing once sold out.

Toss in a half height, nVidia 1030 (around $75 used to $130 new) for better graphics that wont break the budget! 16gb, plenty for sure but the 250gb SSD, Id toss in another 450-600gb SSD for around the $50 mark ~ or toss in a pcie-nVme card and nVme M.2 (might be a little more and card needs to come with half height adaptors)

Want to hold your downloaded movie collection, well 8tb HD now $200! Cash converters and the like often have 21"-27" 1080P monitors for $40-80 & KMART always have nice cheap keybaord/mouse bundles cheap…

A printer/scanner for $50 and you have a kid set for study from primary-uni to be honest… Update to win11, with updates its getting more solid!

Just received my PC, here is my observation

    1. They did not include keyboard and mouse. Only PC and power cord
    2. Included a tax invoice where it says 8GB RAM, but on the side of the box specifically mentioned 16GB RAM
    3. There are 2x 8GB dissimilar rams inside, made it 16GB total. I think they included extra 8GB for Amzon orders
    4. PC turns on ok, very quite, all 16GB RAM visible in system config, also it is Pro version of windows 10.
    5. Very hard to see any cosmetic errors, almost like new, no scratch or dent. Very clean too.
    6. A DVD burner is included, must be a bonus?
    7. Delivered next day, better than expected.
    8. There is NVME slot but a sata SSD is used. There is also one more data port available for extra HDD/SSD, so we can actully have 4 x HDD/SSD/NVME combination here if we need to.

Should I now chase them for keyboard and mouse where as they have given DVD that I won't use?

    • Yeah I didnt get a keyboard and mouse either.

    • Thanks for the details.
Pulled the trigger after reading your comment.
A quick question, what device did you get to enable the WiFi?

  • Hi Guys

I've added another 70 units so they should appear online shortly.

If you did not get you K&M, please send through a message through Amazon, so the team can chase that up for you.

    • Hi rep, I recently bought one. Do you sell used rams? I'd like to buy another 16 gb used RAM. What will be the cost?
