A word of warning about the Ultimate Eats gift cards.

Even though Deliveroo, Menulog and Nando’s are listed as participating retailers, you may have problems actually using them with Deliveroo, Menulog and some Nando’s locations.

    • There have been a number of complaints over a number of months where some people have issues redeeming this gift card through Deliveroo. I have no idea what may be causing the problem. A workaround is to exchange the gift card’s balance for a Deliveroo gift card through the Ultimate gift card website (assuming you have the newer Visa gift cards), but that may not be ideal for some people…

    • Someone messaged me last week asking whether I knew of issues with Menulog, as they were having issues redeeming this gift card. I have no idea what may be causing the problem.

    • Someone previously complained about the Ultimate Eats gift card not working at Nando’s. My suspicion is that the Nando’s franchisee in question upgraded their POS system without telling Blackhawk Network or Heritage Bank (the card issuers), which meant that the card issuers did not recognise the Nando’s location as a Nando’s location. This does not mean that the gift card will not work at all Nando’s locations, but it just means that if a particular location makes a change to their POS systems, it may inadvertently lead to Ultimate Eats gift cards being rejected. This actually goes for any other participating retailer that is operated on a franchise model, so it is something to be aware of.

    • Can we use the coles mastercard to buy this?

      • +3

        You should be able to.

I used Coles Gift Mastercards to purchase other gift cards at Woolworths at the start of this year with no issues, and I assume you can still do that.

The only prepaid gift cards I am aware of that have their usage restricted at Woolworths (and BIG W) are:

        • Any EFTPOS gift cards with card numbers starting with 502125, and
        • OnlyONE Visa gift cards.

You can read more about these restrictions here.

As a side note, the EFTPOS gift cards pictured in the current gift card deal at Woolworths should be fine to use to purchase the gift cards in this upcoming deal, as I am not aware of any restrictions on the sorts of gift cards you can buy at Woolworths (or BIG W).

not working at SushiHub in Plenty Valley Westfield as well. :-(

      • thats weird, ive used 2x Ultimates Eats at SushiHub Plenty Valley last month..

    • Ultimate eats is trash, had one given to me which I didn't manage to ever successfully use. Tried to get assistance from the call centre and they were pretty rude and very unhelpful.

    • I used mine at Grill'd and it worked, but the last said ages has a lot of trouble getting them to work, which adds another layer of complexity…

What is 20X Everyday Rewards Points promo worth? Recently these same cards were sold one week at a 20% discount. I purchased the last one at my local Woolies, and it worked fine. I'd like to buy more this time but don't know how 20X points compares with the 20% discount I got last time? I suspect not very well? Maybe somebody can do a calculation for me?

    • +12

20x Points is closer to ~10%

ie. $100 Gift Card will reward you with 2000 Everyday Rewards Points ($10 off a future shop).

      • Will it be $100 if boost before?

    • Highest I've seen with these are 30x, which only appeared maybe 2 times, around 4th quarter of last year.

      20X is more common.

Why would someone downvote this comment?

It was a reasonable question and then I found myself curious about the answer.

      Some people…

I suspect sometimes regulars feel that such questions have been answered in previous posts, so get annoyed when they see it repeated. I must admit to a bit of deja vu at times, particularly if you follow all posts closely but I do appreciate not everyone religiously tracks all deals or trawls through historical posts (btw I didn't neg)

  • Some of these used to work with eBay. Any idea which of these work with eBay?

    • +2

None of these will work with eBay. You'll need the SWAP Celebration or TCN's The Gift/Online for eBay.

    • +2

'Some of these used to work with eBay.' No.

  • Another issue I had with the Eats gift card is that you cannot use split payment when you have a small amount left on the gift card. For e.g. you have $2 left on the gift card and you want to use that and another gift card to pay for the meal. Happened to me in both Nando's and Sushi Hub. They said their payment machine is not capable of doing that.

    • +1

That's a bit cheeky and I wonder if the case or that the cashiers don't know how to do split payment.

      • +1

I think it's mostly cashiers not knowing how to do it. I tried it at Nandos some months back. Three different people tried to make it work but they didn't know how to. Kids and wife couldn't wait anymore so I had to skip a card with $5.60 balance on it.

    • I’ve been fortunate enough to split payment at Ballarat Nando’s (the newb had to call manager to ask how) and at Grill’d.

I do find it a little awkward asking sometimes so I manage my spend to fit nicely with card and happy to leave 50c or so left on cards. I have a $2.20 card which I think is enough for one sushi at sushi hub or a couple of sauces at Grill’d. but leaving tiny amounts is acceptable by me.

    • +2

can confirm being able to split payments at my local Nando's and Grill'd.
I honestly think it comes down to the person serving you.

  • +1

Starting hiding the cards in the freezer! /s

  • I haven't been getting any of the normal booster offers in the app at all the last few weeks… Is that normal for others..?

Not worth to stock. But if you are going to spend money very soon, probably get these.

Tried to use Eats at Boost world square
Would not accept it. Customer service will not recognise it as a Boost as their card machineis in the nameof the franchisee… go figure

  • Please give us apple gift cards next

    • +2

If you need Apple gift cards ASAP and you have a physical JB Hi-Fi store near you, you could get the Ultimate Teens or Ultimate Kids gift cards through this deal, then go to JB Hi-Fi and purchase Apple gift cards using the aforementioned Ultimate gift cards. I discuss it in more detail as a reply to this comment.

The good news is that some Woolworths stores sell variable load Ultimate Teens gift cards that can be loaded with any amount between $20(?) and $500. The variable load denomination is not excluded in the deal's fine print, so if you need a large amount (or a very specific amount) in Apple gift cards, that should help you.

However, the highest denomination of Apple gift cards I have seen sold at JB Hi-Fi is $200, so if you're getting an M1 Pro/Max MacBook Pro (or something else very pricey), you'll need to amass a lot of Apple gift cards.

Whether this approach is worth the extra hassle is ultimately up to you.

      • +1

I just bought a variable load Ultimate Teens gift card and got the 20x points for the loaded amount.

      • Hi WookieMonster,
You seem to have a lot of knowledge regarding these gift cards. So I just wanted to know if you can buy jbhifi gift card with the ultimate teen gift cards?
Because at the moment we can't use the ultimate teen gift card online sadly only use instore.

        • +1

You should be able to use the Visa version of the Ultimate Teens gift card on the JB Hi-Fi website, as the Ultimate Teens gift card page says you can do that.1

          Some general troubleshooting questions:

          • Which version of the Ultimate Teens gift card do you have? If you have a gift card with a card number starting with 502125, that is the EFTPOS version, and that cannot be redeemed online. If you have a gift card with a card number starting with 457824, that is the Visa version, which can be redeemed online.

          • Have you tried using the expiry date of 12/29 when adding it to your mobile wallet or attempting to use it an online checkout?

          • Is your gift card activated and has sufficient funds available for purchase?

          • Have you mixed up the three-digit CVV2 value with the four-digit PIN on the back of the card? The CVV field on the online check only uses the three-digit CVV2 value.

          1. There is a caveat around purchasing a JB Hi-Fi gift card using an Ultimate Teens gift card on the JB Hi-Fi website, but you probably already know about that

  • +1

Do the woolies team discount apply to these cards?

    • No.

From what others have told me, Woolworths Group axed the 5% off team member discount on in-store purchases of gift cards late last year.

      • +1

I just tried it, confirming that it doesn't work.

    • No more… Loved the good old days when you were still allow to use ww's gc to buy any gc

  • Can you stack with the 10% monthly shop discount from Woolworths Credit Card?

    • no. they won't allow. they also won't let you pay with a woolworths gift card!

  • -1

    No

  • Is the daily 10 card/1 transaction limit enforced, or can get around by making more transactions?

    • The POS system will probably not enforce the one-transaction-per-day limit. I purchased gift cards across two transactions on the same day in the previous gift card deal at Woolworths, and I was awarded bonus points for both transactions.

The POS system will enforce the ten-gift-card-per-transaction limit, and there are other limits you need to be aware of. For example, you generally need additional approval from a duty/store manager when attempting to purchase $2000 or more in gift cards in one transaction.

On the other hand, staff (especially duty/store managers) may enforce their own limits. For example, during the previous gift card deal at Woolworths, a duty manager at one store told me I could only buy 1x variable load EFTPOS gift card per day, even though the catalogue said I could buy up to ten per transaction. YMMV.

  • Anyone had issues with EB games limiting the amount of gift cards? I've managed to get a ps5 through them. 10% off (effectively) would be great

    • I paid the whole amount minus the deposit last month using 3 gift cards - no issues.

    • Just paid my Xbox series X pre-order last Friday(18/03), I used 7 ultimate student gift card from this deal, no problems.

  • Can we use these cards online at JB hi-fi? Thanks

    • +2

      It depends.

If you end up with the Visa version (the one pictured in this deal), probably.

      • You can only redeem one Ultimate (Visa) gift card per transaction at JB Hi-Fi’s online store, as JB Hi-Fi processes these gift cards as Visa cards. Split payments for multiple Visa cards (or other cards from financial institutions) are not possible for online purchases. Having said that, you may not be able to use them to purchase JB Hi-Fi gift cards through the JB Hi-Fi online store, as some OzBargainers found that JB Hi-Fi were cancelling some gift card orders.

      • JB Hi-Fi is currently not on the Ultimate gift card exchange facility, so you cannot exchange Ultimate (Visa) gift cards for JB Hi-Fi digital gift cards unless you go through JB Hi-Fi themselves.

      • If you need to redeem multiple Ultimate gift cards at JB Hi-Fi, I suggest you take a look at this comment

If you end up with the older EFTPOS version (which is not pictured in this deal and are being phased out, but some Woolworths stores may still be selling), no.

      • EFTPOS cards can only be redeemed in-store, and they are not on the Ultimate gift card facility at all.

If you need help distinguishing between the Visa and EFTPOS versions of Ultimate gift cards, I suggest you look at this comment.

      • +1

        Amazing, thank you so much!

        • I forgot to mention this before, but if your local Woolworths stocks variable load Ultimate Teens gift cards, you can load anywhere between $20(?) and $500 on it and earn the bonus points from this deal. That means you can pay for transactions up to $500 on JB Hi-Fi’s website and only need to redeem one gift card.

      • You seem to be pretty knowledgeable. Maybe you can tell me if this is possible?

I want to buy this, using the online only coupon code in the post.

But I want to combine it with the 20x rewards on TCN cards from Woolies.

So is it possible to buy $760 in gift cards using this 20x rewards deal, exchange for a JB HiFi voucher/gift card that will work online, then make the purchase through click and collect.

        • Which gift cards are you actually referring to? Your comment refers to TCN gift cards, but the gift cards in this deal is Ultimate gift cards.

If you have TCN gift cards, it is possible to go to the TCN website and exchange it for JB Hi-Fi gift cards. You can then use as many JB Hi-Fi gift cards as you need to purchase it in conjunction with the coupon code.

If you have Ultimate gift cards (i.e. the ones in this deal), it gets more tricky, as you would need to either purchase JB Hi-Fi gift cards through the JB Hi-Fi website and then hope that your gift card order isn't cancelled, or go to a JB Hi-Fi store and hope staff don't stop you from doing so. If you have access to Apple Pay, you can add the gift card to Apple Pay, and then use Apple Pay to purchase a JB Hi-Fi gift card through the JB Hi-Fi website; that may increase the chance of you successfully purchasing the gift card. If you go in-store, as long as you say you want to pay by card (not gift card), you should be fine.

You can use JB Hi-Fi gift cards with the coupon code you mention to purchase that item.

          • @WookieMonster: Sorry about that, for some reason I thought this deal was for TCN gift cards.

I have Apple Pay, so I can just add the Ultimate Gift Card to Apple Pay, then walk into JB and ask for a JB HiFi gift card, ask to pay with card then just use the Ultimate Gift Card on my phone?

Also, you mentioned before that $500 is the maximum for the Ultimate gift card, so presumably I need to buy two: 1x$500 1x$260. What happens if I need to convert two?

P.S. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!

            • @Orcky723:

I can just add the Ultimate Gift Card to Apple Pay, then walk into JB and ask for a JB HiFi gift card, ask to pay with card then just use the Ultimate Gift Card on my phone?

Yes. FYI, the expiry date that you use to add or spend the card is 12/29.

Also, you mentioned before that $500 is the maximum for the Ultimate gift card, so presumably I need to buy two: 1x$500 1x$260. What happens if I need to convert two?

              You can either:

              • Go to one store, and ask to buy two JB Hi-Fi gift cards in one transaction and ask to do split payments and use two cards. That may arouse suspicions from JB Hi-Fi staff, as they may think you're attempting to use Ultimate gift cards (which some staff won't allow) or commiting fraud or something. You could always show another card stored on Apple Pay to divert their attention if needed…

              • Go to one store and ask to purchase two JB Hi-Fi gift cards in two separate transactions.

              • Go to two stores and do one transaction at each store.

              • +1

                @WookieMonster: Thanks!

Just an update, everything you said worked.

I got a $500 and a $260 Ultimate Teen Card, added them to Apple Pay, bought a $760 JB Gift card in store, then used the gift card online with the discount code click and collect.

  • Been unable to use the Ultimate Eats on Menulog online. Very useful…
