  • Is this Xiaomi 34 inch monitor VA or IPS panel ?

    • +1

I am sure it is VA "The monitor has a minimalist design and features a Samsung VA panel with 144Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync" (dr google 2022)

      • Is it any good for normal computing ? I'm not a gamer and mostly watch some videos n editing.

        • +4

Had mine since July 2020 - absolutely love it. It's my daily driver for my work-from-home. Does everything I need to. Took a while to get used to a curved screen, but well worth it IMO.

          • @robberbutton: I have read mixed comments for this curved monitor. I currently have a 27 inch VA Samsung Curved one. Do you think this will be very large from 27 inch? ;)

          • @robberbutton: I've had mine since 2020 too and it compares well to the Acer Predator X34 in most ways (which i have at home too)…couldn't be happier for the price.

        • +1

I would recommend staying with a flat IPS panel for video or photo editing.

          • @edfoo: Thanks mate for the response. I have decided not to buy it. I will buy 32 inch flat IPS monitor.

        • +1

          I own Xiaomi 34 and Alienware aw2721d .
Gave the Xiaomi to my brother as the Alienware was superior for gaming. The IPS panel is truly beautiful, only downside is going down from 34 to 27 screen estate.

        • There are better options now, such as the Dell one, and there is a sale coming up for that later this week. Should be $550ish.

          • +1

@jasswolf: If you are talking about the Dell S3422DWG, I am using one now, which I bought earlier this year from dealbot's post for $549, but I do game on my PC and only do light photo/video editing. gsaianandh says he/she is not a gamer, mainly for watching video and video editing, so he/she should stick to a flat IPS monitor instead.

            • @edfoo: Is it definitely video editing, or just document work?

Gaming and movies would be better on the Dell, and I was comparing to the Xiaomi.

        • +1

get the dell S3422dwg. it goes on sale often as low as sub-$500

its slightly more expensive but Dell's after-sales service is incredible. I've had a faulty dell monitor replaced in a matter of 3 days.

          • +1

@st9811beast: Yeah, that's true, my U2720Q has a dead green line, report it on the official website, and they arrange the replacement really fast. Now I am thinking I ll stick with DELL for any monitor purchase. BTW there are lots of good dell deals in OZB.

  • Hi, dumb question, but it shows $704 for Roborock S5 on the page. Am I missing something?

AFPYDY code knocks 15% off, need to pay partially with Afterpay

      • Hmm. Just created a new user account with Afterpay and cannot seem to use the code, is it because I’m a new sign-up with $600 cap?

        • +1

Slap an ebay giftcard into the coupon slot to bring the total down into your account's range.

          • @Synticulous: Thank you! Didn’t think of using gift cards! And my eBay account’s region not registering as Australia was screwing things up.

            • @SnugglyMacaron: Yes as Synticulous mentioned above, use discounted gift cards for most but not all of the payment so you can still check out with with Afterpay. I did it yesterday with $4 to pay on Afterpay.

Does anyone see the monitor getting cheaper than this, I already have one but am looking to cop another and have been eyeing prices for a while.

    • I bought mine at $450 a while back, think it was an eBay deal (not sure if plus or not). Honestly I think this monitor is old now and Dell has better options.

      • yeah I bought mine for $450 couple years back but I am happy with it and would like to keep it consistent with the addition of another monitor.

  • Any idea when the G10 vacuums are coming back in stock?

    • No stock at this moment.

  • Anyone have experience with these walking machines? Interested in getting one.

Would love to hear some thoughts.

    • +1

If you have a standing desk, it's pretty good. I have one and I try to get in 10km per day (so 2 hours at 5 km/h, which is a comfortable "power walking" pace). I generally find that 5 km/h is still fine for me to do general tasks (e.g. watch YT, reply to emails…etc.), but if you're doing some more serious work where you need to focus, you can do a 3km/h stroll or something, which is pretty comfortable.

I definitely feel a lot better since I've started using it - highly recommend if you're finding that you're finding WFH fatiguing, it does a good job of replicating the "around the office" and "lunch break" type of walk without much lost time. It's obviously not a substitute for a proper treadmill or outdoor run, but it's useful for helping get some movement in your day and helping with back pain and just general stiffness from sitting too much.

      • +1

Which one would you recommend for WFH with a sit stand desk?

        • keen to know which one too!

  • FYI my monitor was in Chinese and so much darker than my other one I got in AU. Just a heads up.

  • good deal on s5 max if you use discounted gcs
