no memory for music? surely a 4gb drive isn't going to add that much to cost

    Not bad for the price.

Combine the Amex offer is awesome!

  • Is this significantly better than the Fitbit Charge? Massive price difference for something which does not have a speaker/calling ability and storage for music?

    • +1

Never use before. But this brand and the following functions, bought straight away. Also, 6 days battery seems not bad.

      Pulse ox sensor
The Pulse Ox sensor3 gauges your blood oxygen saturation during the day and as you sleep to show how well your body is absorbing oxygen.

      Advanced sleep monitoring
Get a full picture of how you’re sleeping, with a breakdown of your light, deep and REM sleep stages as well as Pulse Ox3 and respiration data.

      • how accurate are the functions? and hopefully this is a product that doesn't just collect dust.

        • +6

I've got the Garmin 245. While I like it as a heart rate monitor with music for running, the pulse ox, respiration and sleep monitoring functions are woeful to the point of being meaningless. Frequently thinks I've slept for 2 hours more than I have - supposedly asleep (or even in REM) while I'm walking around. I do freediving training where I'll hold my breath for minutes at a time or slow it to a couple of breaths/minute for up to half an hour - the reported respiration rate never changes. I strongly suspect the functions will be equally as useless on this device.

          • @whatboutbob: I have to echo the uselessness of a lot of the Forerunner 245's metrics. Will think I'm sleeping when I'm not, SpO2 levels recorded during sleep would indicate I'm dead, counts steps while I'm asleep etc. I mostly use it to get notifications from my phone, got it cheap enough that I'm not mad about it. I figure there are limitations to how accurate it can be with just red and green LEDs and potentially not being a perfect fit on my wrist all the time.

This seems to have all the same functionality for even less.

            • @Trips: The 245 is predominately a running watch so you’re missing out the important features. Yes, this is cheaper but it is not the same functionality.

Pros: Easy to use. GPS works well. Goals motivate you. Find my phone is a life saver.
Cons: The hydration setting would change amount of drinks comsumed by it self. It would also show different figures between the my day view and where you add the drinks.
The sleep setting would say i fell asleep hours before i actually did and did not pick up that i would wake multiple times a night.
I exchanged my 1st one because of the issues and the 2nd was worse than the 1st. I ended up getting a refund

Featuring a bright colour display, the Venu® Sq GPS smartwatch combines daily style and on-device music storage with

      • "On-device music" might be an error because there is a version with music and without. This seems to be the version without.

        • Yeah I read this and bought it before realizing it was a typo. Do you know if there is any way to play music on this without your phone?

          • +1

@MyUsernameNotTaken: I mean, the first bullet point on the page says "on-device music storage", so unquestionably can get a refund there, perhaps screenshot it just in case?

But this is still a lot of watch for $99.

      review

The Garmin Venu Sq is a decent all-round performer, and we've not seen a Garmin watch with a color screen at this price point before. The problem is that the screen quality and design is inferior to the more expensive original Venu. The archaic watch UI and sluggish GPS left us with mixed feelings about the cheaper Venu. While you get that familiar sports tracking experience, we wished it had more in common with its pricier compatriot in the looks department.

      For
      * Feature-packed
      * Light and comfortable to wear
      * Works with external sensors

      Against
      * Slightly archaic watch UI
      * Lower quality screen than Venu
      * Missing altimeter

      • +1

inferior to the more expensive version :o

How could that possibly be the case! :D
Ah, the pressure to churn out content.

  • I was after a Venue 2 Plus but for $99 I'll bite to test the waters.

  • Thanks op. Bought one for the wife.

    • +7

Link the app to your phone so you know when shes stressed. Win win

    • +1

  • +1

I hope this turns out good. I just bought impulsively for wifey :)

Perfect gift, it when features Menstrual cycle tracking

  • +1

Is his a mens or Womens watch? or Unisex? TIA

    • +1

Its unisex, but I find the watch face and strap a bit on the small side unless you have smaller wrists.

      • +2

Thanks bud, nah prefer smaller watches….. a bit over having a wrist watch the size of a wall clock on one's wrist.

    • Man just look at the screen size (33mm) and go from there. If you don't like the colour or size of the band just replace it with a myriad of options.

      • +1

I don't think you can change the gold or the white casing. Changing the band to any other colour would look a little strange?

        • +1

To each his own I guess - I have all different colour bands for my watch that all look fine. Maybe a slightly smaller gamut of suitable colours for white/gold but I like things a little different.

  • +1

Bought one for the wife. Thank you, OP.

    • be sure to mention that it features Menstrual cycle tracking

  • I am currently wearing a fitbit versa 3 and got the offer as well. Do i need a new one?

  • thank you, just got one for C&C

    • just received a notification that order is ready for C&C, will get there when have a chance! :)

  • Thanks op!

Not sure if the code is unique, I definitely used it just then (92525586532)… Might turn out to be similar to the free sunnies we all didnt get?

    • +1

It’s not unique. Everyone above posted the same code.

  • Thank you, picked up one for my Kid.

  • Would someone be kind enough to PM me a screenshot of their barcode if they aren’t using it?

I want to go after work and get one for the wife using Westfield vouchers.

    • See this comment

      • That probably would have been used already by the time I get there tonight :(

        • Do a 'click and collect'? Mine was ready to collect within 15 minutes of placing the order!
Edit: Never mind…just noticed the 'Westfield Vouchers'
Edit2: Ring the store and ask them to hold one for you?

  • Thanks OP, got one! The wife's ancient vivosport just carked it last week, so I hope she will be happy with this surprise when it arrives tomorrow (cbf picking it up in store, and Toll next day was only $5.99)

    • she'll be pleasantly surprised with the menstrual cycle tracking

  • Just tried to order 1 but doesn't look like the code works. Even tried to login into my account but price remains the same. Would have been a good little surprise for the wife :)

    • +1

      It still works…..

      • So weird. I even tried incognito. Might give it a try on my phone instead. Thanks for letting me know.

    • Still works. Try different browser and make sure coupon code is correct

    • It's still working. I just checked. Look like it doesn't limit one per customer as well.

      • Worked on my phone just then :)

  • Do these smartwatches allow you to make and receive phone calls from them?

    • no, just call notification

    • +1

I saw a review on YouTube and it suggests that calls can be answered on both Apple and Android phones but you speak on the phone. Text reply only works for Android phones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSbtjP7-SLw

      • ya, you can deny or accept a call from the watch. But you need to pickup the phone for the conversation…kind of pointless.

  • +2

Got the ready to collect notification SMS. Thanks OP

  • Code works only for white only

I was considering upgrading from my vivoactive 3 music, but it seems to be nearly the same watch based on DC RainMaker reviews.
