Just doesnt do much in terms of a smartwatch. Its good for tracking fitness but thats about it.

        • Worth $99 ?

          • +1

@Fvistr0: if your main use is fitness tracking, then yes. if you want smartwatch features then no.

            • @Leho: mind to comment on battery life and the missing features that you wanted ?

  • Code doesnt work for me..92525586532

    • What worked for me was typing the code instead of copying and pasting. Also try a different browser just in case :)

      • Didnt work for me on chome Laptop browser..
Worked on my Samsung mobile though

        • +1

Yeah a bit weird but good thing that it worked in the end. I just received the text saying it is ready to collect at my local store. Will go during my lunch break to pick it up. God bless WFH :)

  • Those without Amex don't forget shopback 3% back gift cards.

    • Or Suncorp/AAMI/Entertainment book/HCF/Lumo etc… 5% gift cards

  • THANKS OP !!! Didn't even know I wanted one…Just bought. Great Deal.

  • +1

Price sucked me in. Bought one.

  • Good find, Thanks OP! bought one for the Mrs using 5% off gift card! Might cancel my other smartwatch order from Amazon.

  • +4

Tried to resist not buying because I don't need it…lasted about 2 hours and gave in.
    Thanks.

    • Same here :) forgot about the AMEX deal though…

  • +1

my code if anyone wants it - 92525586532

  • Good price, bought one to try as my Fitbit flex decided to throw in the towel. Bought 5% Gift card also so net price $94.05. Thanks OP!

  • +2

almost pulled the trigger earlier, but nah. I don't think this model is any upgrade from Suunto 5 I got from a deal last year

  • Thanks OP. Got one.

  • Got the email and got 1 for the missus, but thanks for posting for others.

  • Thanks OP.

  • Here's my code for anybody who wants it: 92525586532

  • Cheers OP got one and picked up from Brisbane store.

  • Amazfit mini is much better when it comes to battery life and screen while this excels in 'automatic activity detection' apparently (plus 'brand name' if that's your thing). I'm on the fence but will probably wait for a better deal for Amazfit mini to be honest.

    • How much is the Amazfit?

    • Why is this deal getting so upvotes? What are the features of this watch that stand out?

      • I suppose it's a brand name thing. Also when people see the original price $299, that has an impact too. Lol. I couldn't figure out any other reason..

      • +2

Not sure about anyone else but NFC Payment was important for me! No Amazfit watch allows payments in Aus I believe.

    • I don't see much point in having a better battery life if it doesn't detect your activity unless you just want it for notifications and telling the time

Great deal. If anyone is looking for an additional $1 item to combine with Amex deal, they have remote control poo's for $1!
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/flea-market-remote-contro…

    • +1

That poo deserves a deal post on its own.

    • +3

Ohh man wish I saw this before I bought the watch. I always miss out on the good shit!

  • Had my eye on this for my daughters birthday present! Glad I didn’t purchase before now. Thanks OP!

  • +3

just heads up. it dosnt support asian language

for a $99 device, pretty good. Heart rate monitoring is better after a firmware update.

  • Thanks OP
decent enough deal with the amex combo. No motorised poo near me but a $2.50 diary was cheap enough to get it over the line

  • Is there any way to play music from this without my phone? its a typo in the description isnt it?

    • I'm not even too sure. I've just read two reviews comparing each model and both have said that each can play music. As for the typo on the JB website, all the Venu SQ models have that part in their description, while the Venu SQ Music Edition have something similar it's not quite word for word.

Colour me confused. I think safe to assume it doesn't play music or the Music Edition seems like a weird release. But who knows!

      • The Venu sq music has the below additional feature

        Music
Download songs plus playlists from your Spotify®, Deezer or Amazon Music accounts (subscription may be required). Use wireless headphones (sold separately) for phone-free listening.

I guess with Venu Sq you can play music but you need your phone with you.

        • I have a Samsung galaxy watch 4 and the music feature is over rated anyway

          • @BargainHunterJohnnyB: I go for runs and have a galaxy watch 3. I don't take my phone so it is easier to run just with the watch on.

Otherwise, yea it is pretty much over rated 😅

    • This is definitely not the music edition, so no, you can't take only the watch out and play music while on a run

    • +1

also confused, the description says onboard storage for music but I gather this is the Venu SQ music. i'm guessing it can play music but not independently?

    • +1

"The Venu has internal storage for 500 songs that you can listen to offline, but the standard Venu Sq only allows you to control music playback on your phone. There's a special music edition Venu Sq available that has offline music playback, but it's more expensive than the standard model."

      "WIRED
Affordable, sturdy, reliable. Very good battery life. Waterproof. Lots of high-end fitness features, like incident detection, sleep tracking, and blood oxygen monitoring. Cool colorways! Granular data tracking.
      TIRED
Not very intuitive to operate. Syncing music to the more expensive Music Edition is annoying. Terrible name. "

Seems like the main difference between them is some how a negative due to it being annoying

  • Thankk you. I got one.

  • Thanks OP, purchased.

  • Got one cheers

  • Got one.
    Thanks OP.

  • Can do payment using Watch right since it has NFC or I am wrong in assuming that?

  • The code is certainly generic

  • Thanks OP I almost bought an Amazfit last week for my wife but wanted a payment service. I like the Amazfit display better but just watched a heap of reviews and with Garmin Pay compatibility at this price I had to buy the Garmin.

  • Bankers please:

When I buy this watch on Afterpay (and then pay the 3 instalments immediately) , I assume JBHifi's cost of my transaction is much higher than if I used a credit card, but the price to me is the same.

As I understand it, retailers pay Afterpay ~5% and around 1% if I use a credit card.

    Can someone confirm?

    • +1

Not with very big box retailers like JB/Good Guys, they pay less < 2%. No way would JB would pay/absorb more than AMEX fees as JB already charges additional fees for AMEX.

Afterpay gets the big $ annual revenue that they will get from Big Box, so they charge much less based on volume of $$ sold. So yes if you want Afterpay points and promo and are a disciplined spender, makes sense to use Afterpay and double dip on Afterpay as well as CC points.

You will be surprised to see what merchant fees Afterpay would pay to VISA/AMEX/MC vs what even a big supermarket like Woolies/Coles pay. When you do $ billions in transactions, transaction fees can get less than < 0.1% avg across Debit/Credit/Eftpos card txns

      • Thanks for your insights.

        Cheers

  • +1

Can I control my music (while phone playing) with this version?

    • +2

Yes, I just picked mine up and set it up. Can see music controls to control playback on phone.

      • +1

        Thanks my friend :)

      • Really? I couldn’t see this function on the Garmin website.

  • Thanks, was about to buy, but then no complete Sleep tracking (everything else the Galaxy Note can do) & proprietary charger.
I will stay with Amazfit 5 & wait for Mi Band 7 for 1/2 price & 2-3x battery. I have 3x magnetic chargers (Mi Band 5 & 6) in the family to share in different rooms for convenience.

    • It has sleep tracking.

      • No nap tracking & no suggestions/comparison like Amazfit/Mi Band (Zepp app)?

  • I've got the original Venu. I never use the music or pay function, as I always have the phone with me.

Battery life is not nearly as good as Garmin claim, but all in all a great device for the price.

    • Is this a good deal at this price point?

      • It's an amazing deal. For this price you wouldn't even normally get a proper screen.

Just don't get it expecting the battery to last for weeks.

  • Gotten one

  • +1

Doesn’t look like the Garmin Pay supports Amex?

    • +2

No it doesn't. Here is a list of supported banks. https://www.garmin.com/en-AU/garminpay/banks/

      • Yeah that’s a bummer for me but my wife doesn’t have an Amex card and her bank’s MC is supported. She wants an Apple Watch but that is 4x this price so we’ll see if she is happy to settle on this.

      • +1

All my banks are not listed lol…

  • Thanks op

  • Has anyone tried to PM showing the JB Hifi generic coupon code at other stores?

  • Further 30$ off paying with afterpay. Brings it down to 69$

    • That would make it a great deal. I've already picked up mine and opened it. Feels like I've wasted $30 but oh well it is too late now. Hopefully it helps others now.

      • @gadget
so you think at $99 is still too expensive? bad quality or what?

        • It is still bloody good value at $99. I was just saying it would be even better at $69. I can't believe they are selling it so cheap and have actually honored the deal too.

    • +1

      how?

    • +1

Was it a pulse deal or a first time use at jbhfi?

      • +1

Not first time. I didn't have my card on me. So decided to use afterpay and there it was. 30$ off

    • Thought of ordering 1 for a birthday present but I don't see the $30 off using Afterpay. Could be a targeted promotion that AP was running.

    • referral credit?

    • +1
  • Bought and collected. Hopefully my wife will be happy!

  • Thanks OP!! Got one for the wifey

  • i was excited to see a 20% off a purchase at JB Hi-Fi - Afterpay Pulse reward.

but then max at $5 discount. (profanity)!

  • +1

Store just called me, mine's back ordered due to demand. They will need to get from another store and will take 3 days for me to collect. ouch!

    • Which store?

      • thats for store pickup only tho

Cheers, been looking for a $100 smartwatch with tap and pay!

  • Got one, thank you OP. Had to enter the code manually, cut and pasting did not work for me.

    Cheers

  • doesnt say the case size ?

  • how's the compatibility with iphone ?

  • +3

    got one thanks $104.99 delivered
i was recently thinking getting a xiaomi band for 50, this is only double the cost but overall a bargain for its usually 300 price.

    • -1

I decided to stay with Amafit/Mi band (ver 7 on the corner) & reuse the magnetic charge cables (3 so far in different locations) ++ 2-3wk battery vs few days on this.
I will never be slave to more than the phone to iCharge every day :(

      • Xiaomi is always much better value

  • +1

I jsut got one coz why not? At that price you can practically sell it for a profit.
