Ok, checked the specification, Default TDP 65W, nice.

        5700x vs 5800x(TDP 105w)
        Base Frequency
        3.4GHz vs 3.8GHz

        Boost Frequency
Up to 4.6GHz vs Up to 4.7GHz

        • Gamers nexus has a review of the 5600 non X… .its 99% the same as the 5600X .. so the same could be said for the 5700X.. 99% the performance.. :) awesome buy

Announced last month and officially released yesterday/today

Welcome to market competition. Suddenly AMD remembered that they used to have more CPU's in the Ryzen product lineup.

  • I paid $600 for this motherboard alone back in 2020 :(

    • +1

You bought a X570S MB in 2020? How? Time machine?

      • Ah, my bad, it was the non-S version. Which makes it even more painful tbh

        • Yeah, ouch. Hopefully you got good use out of it. Do you think you could have been fine with B550 or extras of X570 have been worth it?

          • +1

@g1: I actually didn't use it at all! I tried returning it to PC Case Gear due to the onboard fan being loud AF, but their customer service has gone to crap and they didn't let me return it (last time I shop with them). So it sat in my cupboard for years, until my brother's board died and I used this one to replace it. Ended up buying an X570 Taichi for myself, which has been perfect.

For me, X570 is just right. I virtualise a bunch, and use PCI-E Passthrough/IOMMU for my job. Running two VM's with GPU's passed through, USB controllers, the works, and this thing doesn't skip a beat. My only complaint with the platform is the stupid southbridge fan. I hate that thing, it's so whiny and annoying. Hopefully AMD fixes this with the next iteration.

            • @yoshi864: X570 is great for virtualisation!

The silent revisions i.e. X570S and i think there are some others (i think ASUS have a silent version that has a different suffix, not an S) do help out with the noise, a lot, with the lack of fan. If I understand correctly the chipset is the same but the board layout is different so the chipset stays cooler and the decision was made that X570 could tolerate the heat with the varied layouts.

I am 100% with you on that I hope that the next gen chipset and board layouts have no fans and instead use passive cooling only.

  • Worth it coming from a 3600. Or just hold for new series

    • same q. get this or wait for new series later this year? (upgrading from i5-6500)

      • I personally made the jump from the i5-6500 to the 3600 and it was like a night and day difference. Apps launch faster and games just run smoother in general (I didn't upgrade my 1050ti till later as well). It will definitely depend on your current budget and needs.

      • Better off going 12th gen intel if you do plan to upgrade before AM5 CPUs come out

    • +1

New series won't be cheap. Plus you need to factor in costs for new chipset meaning new motherboard and possibly new RAM if there is no DDR4 support for Zen4.

      • no DDR4 support for Zen4.

    • what GPU? If you're running something like a 2060 then HODL for new series. If you've recently bought a 3070 or something that might change things.

  • 5700x is pretty decent but make sure PBO so that it can draw more power and can actually reach 5800x

    • +2

      What does PBO mean?

  • +1

    Any bundles with itx motherboard?

Gigabyte Gaming PC 6900xt is also only $1499

never heard of a Ryzen 5 5600? Is it a typo?

    • +3

      Nope. Released yesterday

  • Huh TIL they were releasing 5700X and 5600 yesterday, had no idea.

    ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION!!!

If you buy this motherboard you need to update the Motherboard BIOS before installing the CPU.

Save yourself the 4 hours of troubleshooting that I had to do when having boot issues with this board.

  • I'd probably go for an Intel 12600k If I were upgrading motherboard as well, at least based on early 5700x reviews.

With an existing AM4 motherboard a well-priced 5700x sounds more worthwhile to me (and I may go that way myself once discounted).

I'm ready to buy a two 5700x but i just need some sales to pop up

  • is $285 a good price for the new 5600? seems like it's better value than the 5600x and new 5700x
