  The amount of money you must be spending every year to get to Telstra Plus Gold level must be huge. It's no wonder Telstra can afford to give these away for free to these customers with the amount of profit they are getting.

  Someone threw one out, so I ended up with one of these. There's no remote though, and I don't have a Telstra service.
  Device seems to work though, but can't control it without a remote?
  Anything I can do with this, or is it effectively useless to me?

      Yeah, at that is the WiFi remote, it can turn the Tv On\Off and Change volume, assume it is via HMDI CEC.

    There's an app, Roku mobile which can act as a remote. It works pretty well, only I'm not sure if the Telstra box will accept it

      The Telstra TV app for your phone can control the box as a remote, though I don't know how you'd set it up without a remote.

        Thanks for the tips.

        I decided to connect it via LAN and tried a port scan. Turns out port 8060 is open. Googling a bit, it turns out it's Roku's External Control Protocol, which provides an API to control the thing. Although rather finicky, it seems to work!

    You can get a remote on Ebay for $8 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/144403723031. Chromecast is better than this device though

    Download the Telstra tv app on your phone, it will work. Otherwise ebay for a cheap one
