Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 128GB $899 ($747 with Price Match) with Telstra $69/mo (12Mo Contract, + Bonus $200 GC) @ JB Hi-Fi

1461

Edit 4: thanks to J Man for the photo, here's the advertised offer: https://ibb.co/rQN9Wc9

Edit 3: here's some tips:
1. Be assertive with the price match, other members on ozb have reached out to customer service after purchasing an item and price matched with Amazon and have been reimbursed for it.
2. If telstra rep 1 declines port in credit move on to another rep
3. Remind JB rep that you are still purchasing handset and would still be entitled to the $200 accessories gift card.

Edit 2: It was confirmed by multiple JB staff that they would indeed price match the Amazon AU price. Additionally, this is not a $950 gift card, its a credit. I still had to purchase the handset for $747 which still entitled me to the $200 bonus gift card. I am not sure if everyone will have the same success but none the less i successfully executed this offer today. I suggest that rather than calling up the store you just go in and talk the representative.

Edit: Ok so monthly data is 100gb, have spoken to Telstra rep and managed to have $20 port in credit applied to account.
Final deal savings 12 Months $49 Per Month 100gb, S22 Ultra 128 GB 747 Outright with Price Match and Bonus $200 after sales gift card.

$20 port in credit - https://ibb.co/5vydYzW
outright cost - https://ibb.co/SRqtQPQ

128 GB Deal title is a handful but seems best value option at the moment given the price reduction and bonus offers Just did this myself, not sure when this deal expires.

Step 1. Sign up to the $69 per month Telstra plan for 12 months 100gb per Month. (possible port in credit too, will try soon) get $950 credit towards S22 Ultra (not sure if this includes the other s22 series handsets) Given the best we have had in the past is a $500 gift card this is insane value.

Step 2. Price Match Amazon AU current discount - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09Q9GLLLC

Total out of pocket cost: $747

Bonus $200 JB Hi-Fi gift card after purchase.

Trade in bonus wasn't an option.

Deal Update

Comments from users indicate that JB Hi-Fi Staff are no longer giving customers a $200 Gift Card when purchasing the Galaxy S22 Ultra at a discounted price (when bundled with 12 month Telstra SIM plan). The deal is marked expired as such, however the Galaxy S22 Ultra discount offer will continue to run as indicated on the photo until Wednesday 27 April).

The original deal title also referred to an instore negotiated deal (price matching with competitor store) — the price has been updated to reflect the advertised price of $899.

    • What's the monthly $10 credit? With Telstras $69 plan?

Any weblinks for trade-in I guess you did in-store?

      • Yes, $10 monthly credit for 12 months on the 12 month $69 plan (100GB).

Yes, the trade in link was instore.

        • The $10 credit you go through Teltra or maybe Jbhifi?

Umm might see what the give me for my old Samsung phone for trade, so big thanks for sharing (but I'll be aiming for $20 credit discount, if it's Telstra to deal with πŸ‘πŸ˜)

Edit: but I think that $950 gift thingy is over but I'll still head down in the morning

          • @Italkdigital: The $10 credit was thru Telstra. I tried to ask for $20 but unable to get there. 😁

  • Umm I think for sure this deal expired today but I will test a Jbhifi store first thing tomorrow morning,.. hopefully I can get a second S22 Ultra (this time 256gb version) on this deal, yes wishful Ozbargainer 😬

  • Got the deal with Amazon Price Match + Telstra $20 Port in Credit. Got excited to take the phone out once at home and notice scratch marks on top and bottom of the phone immediately.

Called up the sales line as that was the only contact I could think of, and they've told me to email their helpline and get the phone replacement organised. Hopefully the next phone won't be refurb again -.-

Pretty disappointing, considering i read the forum post complaining about the refurb Apple Watch thinking that it was one of those few occurences.

    • The only reason I don't open the new phone I purchase well on these big deals is I usually put the phone up forsale and test see what profit I can make for it, though if your keeping the phone best open at store could of solved a whole lot of headaches 😩 but geez I could have been stung selling one of these phones through eBay interstate buyer and buyer receiving phone with scratches,.. man that would have been a huge headache also,.. one that I'd have to go through what your going through also the headache of having the phone returned from buyer and refunding him or her etc, can't believe what has happened to you especially being Samsung phone

    • This might be a stupid question. Are the scratches on the flat surfaces on either end of the phone? Did you remove the plastic that covers these areas?

      • Yes you have a point as funny, I sold mine same day and the buyer noticed that it looked like scratches at ends of phone but was actually the protectors at the ends of phone

  • Does anyone know if a $20 port in credit could work on just their $69 plan with a free $300 gift card? I’ve missed the boat on this deal but would be tempted if it was $49 pm.

    • It could most likely, I actually got the port-in $20 credit per month and I didn't actually port-in my number, it was a new number I signed to $69 plan, so no harm trying, I did and I ended up getting the $20 credit discount

Edit: yes from Jbhifi side they have the $300 gift card on offer for that $69 Telstra plan and the $20 credit you need to nag Telstra for it, Jbhifi has no control over that $20 credit

      • Nice one! Thanks for replying. I might give it a crack - such a shame I have to pay a premium to get good service and cellular access for my watch. Boost is great and enough for me - but no chance of extending cell to Apple Watch.

So, I was able to get the full deal as per the OP including price match and gift cards. Also got the Telstra monthly credit on the first try, which I was a bit surprised by. So thanks very much OP, an amazing deal.
My main issue though is I am coming from an iPhone 8 Plus and I do not understand how this is the flagship Samsung phone. I have run several apps side-by-side booting up and the iPhone is consistently beating the Samsung. And maybe it's a general Android issue but I do not understand some of the UI choices in the operating system and in apps themselves. I assume it is a bit of configuration combined with me learning all the tips but honestly it just feels clunky. Oh and the heat of the phone while downloading over 5G..
Before I purchased I checked out the reviews and I have samsung android tablets so I'm familiar with them, but I didn't expect the S22 Ultra to be both slower and more clunky than a really old iPhone.
Ultimately a bit of buyers remorse on my end. I might try and either sell or return the phone.
Not intending to start a war re apple vs android, just talking about my experience.

There's a big difference between Iphone IOS and Android OS (even more so with Samsungs UI 4+ and Note series), Apple dictates what the user can do on their phones, while Samsung UI (Android in general) let's the user do what heck they like in customizing their phone

Here is a screenshot of my main screen customised too the shit, which you could never never ever do on an Iphone, dare I say on any Android phone, I've almost stopped using my expensive PC cause I've customised my phone to have a lot of features ms windows does and more,.. like: the ability to copy text out of pictures with the s-pen, with-in side panel feature have unlimited copy/paste copies, numerous other features,. etc

      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/122509/95528/screensho…

Samsungs UI the minute the phone is switched on has lots of features running in the background (which not with IOS can switch off and on), especially the Note series with s-pen features what the S22 Ultra is all about,. a Note phone series

If you want your S22 Ultra behaving more like your IPhone go into developers options and switch off a lot of things, firstly restrict (as IOS does) how many apps are allowed to run in the background (think IOS restricts to zero apps in background well especially older Iphones that were less powerful) also reduce the fancy stuff like animations (try zero setting), there is a whole lot of customizations you can remove/reduce, again Android allows the user to customize their phone

But why did you buy a S22 especially an Ultra?, dont you care about all its rich features/customizations over an Iphone?, honestly your not appreciating what the S22 Ultra well Samsungs UI 4+ is capable of, if your going to judge a phone cause the same app opens faster by milli seconds on your IPhone then you certainly dont deserve being an owner of a superior S22 Ultra phone over any Iphone

Best go back to your simplistic Iphone and leave the S22 Ultra to us who appreciate the better hardware and UI software features that Samsung/Androids let us customise to our hearts content

Or have patience, there is a lot to learn with any Android phone especially Samsungs UI 4+, it's certainly not a simplistic OS like Iphone OS and you'll realise for the few milli seconds over apps loading faster the extras on a Samsung Ultra OS/UI is superior to any Iphone, again have some patience and you'll never ever go back to IOS dare a say a phone for dummies

EDIT: Oh important the phone learns your habits in the first few days, especially for the battery, but if you want it snappier certainly goto devolopers options and reduce animations, again you can reduce how many apps are running in background, dare I say go further delete as many apps as you can maybe all at first then slowly install back what you need, (see what happens) again there are numerous apps running in the background so yes big learning curve, 5G is like that it's going to run warmer and the battery is still learning it will normalise, there is actually an option to kill apps running in background when not used for a while or killed when closed, I actually have over 800 apps installed in my phone but certainly are not all running in the background, goto to battery health settings plenty to play with, hopefully its more what your accustomed to and youll keep it, this is one of those you'll appreciate in time

Honestly I'm going by the previous Note 20 Ultra and Note 10 plus phones as I haven't as yet had the pleasure using the S22 Ultra (hope yours isnt a dud),. well I'd never own a phone without an s-pen, yes now I'm certainly into the Samsung UI 4+ eco system

      Anyway my 2 cents πŸ‘πŸ˜πŸ€£πŸ˜œπŸ€ͺ

Edit: PM sent certainly deserves a good home

haha, thanks for the feedback. As I said it was really just about my experience not iphone vs android per se.
I understand the argument re Android customisation, but if I was to video the whole setup experience and the number of bugs I had setting up banking apps, contactless payments, google syncing etc I think it would have highlighted the issue.
As mentioned I went from a 5 year old phone to the flagship Samsung phone and I just thought the improvements of that jump would make up for the IOS to Android transition.

        • Maybe the bugs need to be ironed out with updates on Samsungs part (what the phones been out 2 months now from release), my Note purchases are usually after there 1 year old or so, so usually all the bugs are all ironed out, umm I guess research if others are having the same issues so rule out its a fault with the actual phone, like I said the way IOS works with background apps etc though you shouldn't be having issues as you said banking apps etc well funny the same UI 4+ is in my 2019 Note 10 plus with no real issues

And your Iphone from 5 years back is actually a highend flagship phone, always the Iphone processor has always been faster then Android (Snapdragon and Exynos) with a better optimized IOS even though they cheat with killing there background apps (and hasn't changed much in the years) in my opinion will feel faster then Android, I could argue well Samsung UI is so over done maybe to much but that's what there selling a rich featured UI and that's what I like,.. like I said previously it still can be customized to run faster

Dare I suggest maybe a whole factory reset and start from the beginning umm what's the UI version for the S22 Ultras?, it's under settings / about phone / software version

  • Did not got the gift card yesterday , but they did the 950 credit and pricematch of 1823 for s22 ultra 256gb, so costed me around 873, i am trying to get the port in credit today as well, lets see

    • Escalate with jb hi fi management, they should give you the gift card.

      • i tried in-store, and they said it's not applicable with this deal, I will try with management now.
        thanks

      • How?, which management, I've already done the deal and missing the $200 gift card

        • I checked with them online, they said ring the manager of store to sort it out. i think i will ring their helpline number

          • @aman14789: so i rang their helpline and they said u can only get 950 credit as our system will not allow to process it with the gift card, if u buy just the telstra plan for 69 dollars then u get the 300 gift card.

            • @aman14789: Sounds like they are getting the gift card mixed up with the telstra one. Show them the gift card promoted on the page below and tell them it's an accessories gift card for purchasing the s22 ultra https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-s22-ultra-…

              • @Spennyrich: LET ME TRY AGAIN

              • @Spennyrich: That page specifically says "not in conjunction with any other offer."
Are you sure you didn't just get lucky on the gift card Spenny?

                • @Cheesey: Have had a huge number of people confirm they had the same success in redeeming the full scope of what I shared.

                  • @Spennyrich: Yeah, but I've read all of them and it sounds like they've just gotten lucky due to lack of care or ignorance… One dude said he complained online about not getting a $150 gift card and it worked but I don't even know what he was talking about as I haven't heard anything about $150 ones.

P.S. still an epic deal without the gift card and I thank you very much for sharing it!!

          • @aman14789: I don't want to speak to the same manager at the store I bought phone, was a headach just getting the Amazon price match lolz

Edit: shall try over the phone as few mentioned above,.. thanks all πŸ‘πŸ˜

            • @Italkdigital: Let me know if it works for you , mine doesn't, they are saying that they cant stack two gift cards together.. so not giving me $ 200 gift card.

            • @Italkdigital: I tried to call customer service, but just gets put through the store and get the same response.

They said if you put the enquiry online and the head office says yes, they'll do the reimbursement.

              I don't know whether there's another number?

              • @Mybabyburrito: got the same response

              • @Mybabyburrito: Yeah did it the easy way first,.. yeah same way as you,. online I did, just couldn't be bothered right now talking to someone over the phone (all is time consuming),.. says they'll get back in 2 days with reply hopefully its a yes and will see the voucher emailed too me in 2 weeks or so

Edit: I used the Gift Card tab enquiry, maybe I should have used the other option tabs, maybe I'll do all of the options now, maybe more gift cards emailed (wishful thinking) lolz

  • worked like a charm! Thank you everyone for your helpful comments, couldn't take full advantage of this deal without it.

Lets see how many things an OZB can complain about in the process of getting this deal….

Complain to the sales rep / manager because they don't price match (very unlikely as most of you seen to be able to get it).

Sale rep / Manage refuse to give you the GC because it is on the BLOODY T&C!! Now you go to ESCALATE because you saw it on a internet forum that some customer got it?

Telstra giving you $10 port in then you go Rep after Rep that you should be getting $20 again because someone else did get it!!

I wouldn't be surprise if someone neg their way into getting the Buds Live too even if they purchase after the deadline?

Someone lately mention they got the trade in? Did any of you go back to the branch and and try to argue that should be given to you too? SPECHLESS!!

    • Bargaining is hard, Bargaining Hard is harder. We are here to learn!

      • +1

mate you are totally missing my point…

We are all here for a bargain I am not arguing that. But the length people on this forum will go to trouble others in order to squeeze every bit out of a deal are truly shocking!

One would argue that JB and Telstra staff are paid to do a job there but remember their (JB) paid is base plus commission. With people doing what they are saying in this deal, chance are they have ruined the sale rep commission for they deal they get and waste so much his / her time when they can make commission form serving other customer.

Some of you may think I am a retailer white knight or Richard Murry's best friend… The truth is I an disgusted by many retails dirty trick like those in ebay or worse delivery exclusions like appliance online not to mention the AH of all time Mr Harvey. Then again we consumers are not much better are we? I feel for the boys and girls in JB Hifi seeing people walking to their face with a OZB deal like this and have no way to refuse knowing that they will get JS for serving you.

        • Not at all :) I totally read the sentiment in there and just summarized it with a bit of pun.

        • Retailers regularly cycle through offers such as trade in bonus, mobile plan sign ups, port in credits , price matches and gift cards.

The s22 was discounted heavily in Korea due to the misleading benchmarks. I think what we have seen here is a number of retailers look to compensate for this by offering discounts and gift cards.

I think the deals that were taken advantage of were well between what was advertised its just unfortunate that multiple offers could be taken advantage of…

        • +1

No idea what your talking about no one's put a gun to a JB sales rep head forcing them to give any aspects of these special deals, in actual fact (well my experience in person from 2 stores) the sales rep had to ask the store manager for approval for example the Amazon price matching and the $200 gift card

Sorry for who? sales can sux, but it's part of their job, if their stupid to allow a portion of any deal there not meant too you can't blame the buyer asking for it, then it's the sales reps fault for allowing it, they probably should've asked their manager first and all honesty hearing some conversations between staff and the manager I don't think even the manger knows 100% what's going on with specific portions of this deal, in actual fact cause the manager wasn't sure they took the safe route and refused the $200 gift card bonus to me, I so no problem, thanks and cya later

I'm guessing Richard Murry is the owner of Jbhifi, maybe we should all get together and make a complaint through the jbhifi complaints process and complain there sales staff should get paid more then the base wage? If your really sorry about sales staff missing out on commissions, I'll be in it, then they can make as many mistakes as they like not worrying about commissions

Don't think any Ozbargainer should feel guilty for chasing a bargain to its fullest

My 2 cents, again thanks OP 😊

  • What has made this deal even better, received an email yesterday with my pre order redemption bonus. Woohoo.

    Thanks once again @Spennyrich

    • Oh dang I got lazy!
