Why can’t OW go lower? Has their policy changed?

    • +11

OW policy has not changed. It mostly depends on the store manager. Some price match Amazon & some don't.
I had few instances where I was at OW in the morning and the store manager declined to "Price Beat" Amazon, but later in the evening with a different store manager I have managed to "Price Beat" the same product.

      • +1

Yes, that's true. it's up to the local store if you are calling their local number instead of 1300 OFFICE (633 423). I have no idea why.

        • +1

There is no price beat because their price is already lower for the 64GB variant and the same price for the other two. They will only price beat if their price is higher.

          • +1

@Any thing: If the price is already lower or the same, I guess OP is just being a derp by trying to ‘test their luck’ heh.

  • +1

Price match at Officeworks can only be declined if the same variant is not available at that particular store like colour, size, or model at that time of request.

Fwiw my iPhone 12 is a beast and still flies as fast as it did when released. My biggest concern with upgrading is how much online storage space my daily videos of the vids is going to take when they’re all shot at 8K HDR imax 3D

    • Does iPhone 12 record 8k HDR ?

      • No, Only HDR video recording up to 4K at 30 fps

      • +3

Why on earth would that even matter ? 8k tv.. ??

        • Yep it’s the next thing. CES marketing this year has all been focused on 8K. Sports streaming trials in 8K have started too. AMD/Nvidia working on upscale technologies etc. New gen consoles are 8K capable but haven’t unlocked it yet. Will end up being standard soon enough like 4K has been for years.

          • +4

@Hybroid: Silly as usual when 4k streaming is still limited in terms of DVB and Internet streams, but I guess people hear 8k and suddenly it's a need. When it comes to gaming sure they can output to 4k but the games are lucky to hit 30 fps can't imagine the hit running at 8k lol. I'm running HZD2 on performance mode 1080p 60fps just to get it to run nicely but my 77C1 will be more than plenty if I get 10 years out of it

          • +2

@Hybroid: Not with the state of Australian internet

            • @FrugalSplack: Why? Gigabit home connections are available now. Fully expect iPhone 14 to have 8K video recording to match the S22.

          • +1

@Hybroid: The next gen consoles would have to be a huge leap in performance to do any 8K, when my XSX already has to upscale to reach 4K in some games, and that's 60fps too

    • I have an iPhone 12 and don't like it, mostly because of the shit thermals due to the glass design, it gets way hotter than my iPhone 11 Pro Max, and then it will start lagging and throttling because of the heat. It can get burning hot while fast charging. It's not just me. Battery is also very mediocre.

      • +5

Sounds like a dodgy phone mate. I’ve had mine since release and it’s never got hot.

        • -3

To be honest, not sure if I believe you, my dad has a 13 Pro Max and that gets plenty hot when fast charging as well

      • That’s strange, not sure if you bought it from genuine store? You’d better screw them up and get the refund.

        • Bought from JB, it's not defective, got it looked at Apple Store

          • @FrugalSplack: what charger/cable are you using?

just trying to cover off on things… because if its only occurring during the charging process, maybe there's an issue there?

            • @UFO: Nah not just charging, even on a typical hot day it has to throttle down the screen brightness and becomes very slow to use cause of the heat. It's not just me, I've seen plenty of Reddit discussion about the thermal issues of the 12 series caused by the new glass design.

      • My iPhone 12 Pro Max also gets hot when fast charging and starts to lag. This was a major issue with my iPhone X so never thought much of it.

      • Mine can get hot at times but it’s amazing. I have had for 18 months and love it.

JB has black, blue and white 64GB 12s for $999

There are some brand new iphone 11 pro max 128GB for $786 at Harvey Norman Chadstone. I was there about 10:30 today.

    • That's an excellent deal. Wish there were some in NSW/online!

    • +1

I called them, they said $1300 for a demo and brand new will be the same price

      • Go there, they are locked in the display cabinet in the corner. When I was there, there was only four left.

    • +1

What? 11 pro max has 128GB version? Or you mean 64GB?

      • I could be wrong, can anyone who went there confirm what it actually is?

        • +1

I just want there 4:55 . Not things left .

  • How much difference in performance and battery of ip12 comparing to ip13? I think there's a $200 difference in price when both went on sale. Not sure if ip13 worth the price difference?

    • +2

I went from regular 12 to 13 Pro in the last week and performance is the same really. I did notice the pro motion display at the start but as time goes on I am not actively noticing it.

Battery is much better though. I can leave the house with 50% battery and be confident that would last me a whole work day using it as I usually would and still have heaps left to use at night as well. The 12 did seem to just drain quicker.

I wouldn’t have upgraded if I didn’t need more storage and my mum didn’t need a phone to upgrade from her iPhone 8 so I gave her my 12

Vodafone has $330 off iPhone 12 if you need a plan anyway.

    • Yep, but you need to stick with a plan with them. Lowest plan is 20GB for 40$/month which I’d rather buy a coles plan for just 99$/yr and it does the same job. I usually use maximum 3GB /m since I mostly WFH.

    • I’ve checked with Vodafone (Melbourne area) yesterday. There was only limited availability on the 128gb black and purple colors. The earliest delivery was 31st of May. And I’ve been told even the date is not guaranteed due to limited stock and delays with the logicatics.

Can't believe price difference so small between 64gb and 128gb and work is being so cheap to offer 64 to employees

  • +1

If you plan to buy from Apple store… Big W has Apple gift cards with 20* Rewards points per $…

Could be something to consider if you want

    12 256GB or 13 Mini 256GB?
Mrs likes smaller screens, so swaying to the 13

    • Rumours are that the 13 Mini will be the last 'mini' variant.

      • +2

Cheers. Ended up ordering the 13 Mini in the end.

        • +3

I think I'll be doing the same. Since going from the iPhone 8 to an iPhone 11, I've really missed the size of the iPhone 8.
May use the chance to grab the last mini version whilst still around.

From what I've seen the mini will be replaced with a cheaper 6.1" variant.

  • Thanks OP. TGG dropped the price to match and Commbank Rewards is offering $30 cashback for over $300 spent at TGG.

  • About time this came down in price. There was only about a $70 difference between the 12 and 13 price so I couldn't understand why anyone would still be buying a 12.

    • that's right. I was trapped by Apple. I bought the 12 when the sale off came. then few days later they sale the 13 after my 12 delivery!
