EB Games are having a trade credit increase on consoles until Monday 9th May. Advert says "get up to" meaning console must be complete and fully working with a controller, power cord and HDMI cable to get full amount.

    I upgraded my OG PS4 to have a 2TB hard drive that works great, but now have a PS5. Does anyone know if EB takes upgraded consoles?

    (Alternatively happy to sell to anyone on Brisbane!)

      Don’t they let you buy it back at the exact price you traded it in for? Or is that games only, maybe.
      Perhaps you can buy it back and trade it straight back at the upgraded price.

        You do, they'll just put that in the system at the time you trade in (only for the trade-in) but they don't check your ID vs name of the account holder.

        It's just logically if you trade in a few of the same stuff multiple times, I'd think the system would flag you. I've seen people reporting their account was suspended etc. Especially from different locations - I'd be surprised if nothing from their end is not stopping people from doing this.

    Far out, I couldn't sell my PS4 Pro on gumtree for $350, had to drop to $300 and still had low ballers.

    Took me 3 months to sell it, least the dude I sold it to was a good guy.

      That’s bad luck, I sold my ps4 with 2 controllers and 4 games for $300. Got a a few lowballers but stuck to my guns and it eventually sold in 4 days. Guys that bought it were nice too

          Just picked up a OG xbox one with 10 games for $75. With level 4 and trade in got $235.

          It was even missing the side panel vent where the usb slot is.

          Kept the controller he had and the hdmi with it and traded my 3rd party one and the dodgy hdmi cable I was about to throw away.

    Always assume these trade-in prices are for store credit only (in the worst-case scenario).

    Some stores/ states do not hand out cash and if they do, some will deduct 20% from store credit value.

    Best to call & check before heading in, as there's little consistency and reports amongst fellow members here will conflict.

      I have found that it's easier to just preorder an item with the trade in. Come back a week later and cancel it. They usually refund cash or to your card.

      I think it’s dependent on your state laws. QLD do cash but it’s 20% less if you take cash over the trade-in.

      Couldn't get cash in NSW at 2 different stores. Also the credit had to be spent on the day, not stored for later.

      They both said no to EB gift card so got a PlayStation giftcard instead.

        If you want to sell it fast, then go to EB. I'm personally not in a rush so I leave the adds up for a long time and respond to all queries.
        I've been able to sell PSP, Vita, PS3, PS4 and some other accessories via gumtree without issue, and for much more than EB would ever have given me.

    Earlier today, I traded my PS4 Pro for $345 and only paid $405 for the PS5.
    Last week, I called my local EB, and they said the trade-in value for my PS4 Pro was $313.
    I thought they made a mistake today until OP posted this.

    Somewhat tempting to trade the Switch in, can't believe I'm saying that but it's been so long since I played it, value probably won't get much better. And could get an OLED model in future…have EB ever had deals/discount for the OLED model?

    That and my ex bought it for me and it kinda hurts to look at it :(

      There's no extra value with special editions. Better to list it elsewhere, but expect it to sit there for a while. Also note that eBay will take about 15% of fees and postage costs too.

    Is it worth trading for $300 I have a spare PS4 pro with 1 controller. I only used it for a year, no box tho.

    $300 sounds easy, I haven't looked at FB market and Gumtree.
