    • I've just been told I've a blood pressure issue, so I'm considering it for the monitoring aspect.

  • Tempting but rather pay the extra for a watch 4 with wearOS.

  • +4

Watch2 Active at $149 is very good for that price if you are on a budget. If you are willing to part with $250 to $300 though you can get a Watch4 LTE on ebay.
If you look closely on ebay there will be a ton of Watch4 LTE versions from Optus customers looking to offload their new un-opened freebies from the S22 offers.

Get OW to beat it! $141.55

    • OW?

    • +1

Checked with Officeworks and they stopped stocking it 6 months back. I guess JB is just doing the same clearing the old stock @_@

snaffled one for the missus… thanks

    • "swimming voice calls etc"

      What the?

      • +1

        Missed a ','
        Tracks running and swimming
Does voice calls, alerts, messages email when connected to phone via Bluetooth or wifi

    • +1

Awesome man, i will try your parkrun app

  • +3

Is this better than the Garmin Venu SQ? I already bought that during the last discount. If this is more superior, I will repack the garmin for the missus as mother's gift

    • +2

I think it is as you can make calls, use spotify without the phone….

      • Wow, Need to check the review then

    • In the same boat as you. Not sure if your idea of repacking the Garmin for the missus is a good idea though :p

      • maybe repacking missus is better !

  • Would this be good for a primary school child?

    • +2

I expect so, but probably Grade 5 and above as it would be too big for small kids. The build quality and functionality should be a lot better than a basic kids watch. I bought one for my 11yo son, now just need to pair it with an old phone and find a cheap sim card..

  • +1

Used to use this before I got a Garmin watch.

While running with GPS, I found the watch lasted about 3:30 hours. With bluetooth headphones listening to music and running, about 1.5 hours (ish).

However, I found the best way to record runs was with the Strava app on the watch, the Samsung health running feature didn't have great GPS tracking and when it transferred over to Strava the data looked different.

    • +1

You can run for three and a half hours? 😮

      • +5

It's not something I do very often! I did a 30km run and the watch was 100% at the start of the run and 3% at the end of the run and it took roughly 3.5 hours.

  • This or Fitbit Versa 2?

    • I used to own Versa 2 and i'm never going back. Replaced it twice with JB Hifi and the 3rd time, they just refunded me and 2 others at the same time that day as all of us always had issues with connectivity, etc with Fitbit.

    • +2

Been using Versa 2 for about 2 years now. Never had any problems.
Thinking should I ditch Versa 2 for Watch Active 2?

    • +2

I won a Versa 2 at Timezone. Haven't had any problems.

Only use it for notifications and sleep monitoring though.

  • +1

Does the ECG on Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 work with an iPhone connected? Or does it require a Samsung phone to work?

  • Thanks OP nabbed one!

  • i had the Active 2 for a while - functionality wise it has everything you need, however the tizen experience wasn't great, became quite buggy and slow after some time even tried resetting everything and didn't help. ended up selling it on ebay

  • Just be wary the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 may not be supported anymore. Online sources state it will end in August, however I have this watch and the last update it received was back in November last year.

  • Active 2 or wait for the new mi band?

    • +1

If we are comparing apples with oranges might as well get the Apple watch 7

  • +7

Bought my Active 2 at the end of 2019 when the price was over $500. Three weeks ago it just stopped working and I was 5 months out of the 2 years warranty. JB HIFI sent for an assessment and just yesterday told me I have to pay for the repairs which was quoted $250. They said it was out of warranty and I am very unhappy something that cost so much just stopped working after 2 years.

    Anyway just and FYI.

    • Consumer Affairs. You have rights, beyond that warranty period. Check with your local state. "Working for a reasonable period of time". I'd say 3 > 5 yrs, given it's cost. GL

      • Yeah I mentioned ACL to JB Hifi and they still said no. In fact they re-threaten me, saying they will cancel Samsung's assessment and I will be to pay for the reassessment fee if I want it fixed later.

Any other tips? Maybe they would change their mind since the watch now dropped to $150.

        • Your call on whether it's more effort than it's worth - but actually taking it up with your state consumer protection agency would be the next obvious step. Just because JB Hifi doesn't think it falls within the purview of ACL doesn't mean the agency will agree.

        • If you're not going to pay for the fix either way, ask for the item back and lodge a case with your Fair Trading NSW (assuming you're still from Sydney).

        • +1

Can you contact Samsung directly? I had a garmin watch and its wrist strap broke 1 year out of warranty. I sent it back, they offered a replacement because the strap was not replaceable. I said no because the same thing would likely happen again. Got a full RRP refund (price from 3 years ago - $100 more than I paid), and bought a Samsung galaxy active to replace it.

          • @frugalferret: Thanks for the advice. I'm going to speak with the manager again this weekend.

    • Contact Samsung instead. Had a $3k TV die after four years, good guys said out of warranty, Samsung disagreed and gave me a full refund cos it was stuffed and they couldn't replace it.

    • Jb hifi caved in and offered to pay $250 to Samsung to fix it. I told them why not just give me a new one since it's currently $149, but he said he would have to refund me the original purchase price in order to do that. But he reminded there will be no other warranty after that.

  • Thanks OP. Got 2 haha. I'll gift one soon

  • +1

Had one of these. Common issue is the for the top right button to go.

  • Cheers OP,

Needed a cheap smart watch just to keep time while umpiring sport. This is perfect.

  • Thanks OP, got one.

  • +1

Got one of the fossil smartwatches for $150 from 2 years ago and have not been using it as much. Thinking if I should be getting this. Then another $150 smartwatch will probably come along again that is very tempting. Maybe I should just spend big get an apple watch or equivalent instead of $150 per year with mediocre experience.

    • -1

      Get a sun dial

    • I will never buy a fossil again. Bad quality sports watch. Watch body cracked at band connection end and warranty would not take it. Asked me to pay $200 for fixing a $130 watch.

  • This is why i dont want to check Ozbargain. $300 gone :D :D

  • no oxygen sp02 sensor?

second, i have xiaomi band 5 and have hard time reading the notification/text messages on its screen.
is this active 2 watch a big improvement in term of clarity and font size?

    • This watch was released in 2019, the senors included are Accelerometer, gyro, heart rate, barometer, VO2max. The screen on this miles better then the piddly little screen on the xiaomi band 5.

  • this or ticwatch E3 is better?

  • amazing deal

  • Thanks OP bought one, been waiting for a good deal on a smart watch with some form of NFC payment

  • Watch was good, except mine literally fell apart in less than a year. So the quality of this isn't super great

    • +1

      Vietnam.

      • Whilst people here are still complaining about China, they're already moving onto less developed nations like Vietnam and Malaysia. A few more years of Aussie complaints and soon it'll have gone to some random African place. We'll truly see quality then.

  • Potentially a stupid question, but can I send/receive messages with this watch even when I'm not within a certain distance of my phone?

  • how hard is it to toggle on/off bluetooth/wifi? (need to do it daily due to areas I work in)

  • Not able to deliver to my address?? Anyone else getting this error?

    • yeah I'm getting that too. never had issues in the past.

      • maybe out of stock online

    • -1

      buy new house…

  • +1

I compared with my 4 year older gear s2 classic and it's basically the same overall features. Pretty disappointing that there are few improvements.

    • +1

Smartwatches have stagnated for the past 4 years or more. Only thing getting the newer model gets you is better battery life.

      • +3

        better battery life.

and its not because human can improve the battery technology, but because of new processor that using less energy.
but then they increase the screen size, resolution, new feature there and here.
that better battery life becomes slightly better battery life.

  • Limited app support is going to be a big downside

  • I am happy with my Mi band 6:)

    • no one asking that as far as i can see

  • Great deal but users' reviews are not good at all though. Doesn't seem reliable in the long-term. https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/samsung-galaxy-wat…

  • Bought this on the last deal for $199, and happy with it. The two things that didn't work out for me are:
    - Blood pressure monitor requires calibration with a cuff reader before you can use it, and requires re-calibration every 30 days I think
    - Offline Spotify has been pretty hit and miss for me, it freezes and refuses to play often enough that I just take my phone with me now.

Apart from that everything else works great. Nice display, good call quality from the watch itself and I get a couple of days battery life.

  • +1

Anyone else bought this and struggling to connect it to their phone using the Galaxy Wearable app?

    • Ye mate, can't get it to connect to my S22 Ultra, just constantly connecting after the initial pairing. Unpaired my Galaxy buds to check and now that's knackered as well, can't connect them. Cheers Samsung.

      • thanks now we know why it has been reduced from 450 to 150

    • Just to update on this if anyone is stuck and impatient like myself.
Download the watch plugin from apkmirror or any other source you trust, just google - galaxy active2 watch plugin apk. Install this and then run the Wearable app and it should continue the setup without any issue then, as I managed to get my running now.
Seems the problem is to do with downloading the watch plugin straight from the Samsung server, which is currently broken.

  • Has this sold out? :(

  • Think this has sold out now.

Would anyone be able to share their receipt for Officeworks to price match?

    • Officeworks doesn't even have it

  • +1

Can this watch send messages (SMS) responses back to the phone or can it only receive messages (SMS) ?

  • In store only?

  • impulse buy. now feeling returning it. didnt opened the box yet

    • Why?

      • Am using iPhone, also having Apple Watch

        • Yeah dont use it… steve jobs wont be happy up there
