Belong $80 SIM Starter Pack - 2,000 Telstra Plus Points Delivered @ Telstra Plus

2120

Was checking out rewards for doweyy's 10,000 point deal and noticed that the Belong $80 Starter Packs were down from 10,000 points to 2,000 points again. Same as previous deal. Thanks to bozbargain:

$100 is enough for either 4 monthly cycles of the $25 plan (20GB/month) or a mix of eg 1 month at $25 (20GB) and then 5 months of $15 (3GB/month). Data rolls over so you can start on a $25 plan, downgrade to $15 and still keep the left over data for subsequent months. You have to activate on the $25 plan (as a minimum) to start off with, then you can move down to $15 (the $15 one isn't available for your first month).

Ends 6 Jun or when sold out.

No, you activate them both under different email addresses (use the referral codes), select the plans for both of them (the one you want to use on the lowest plan, the other on the high plan) and the gift the data from the high plan to the low plan. That way, you get 5 months out of your service with lots of data.

          • @bozbargain: I was going to do thise
            Step 1
Activate first 80 credit sim using one of the referral code
            Choose whatever plan you like
Step2 buy a $2 telstra sim port out number ,activate the sim without recharge
Step 3 port the number back in belong repeat Step 1

Or using the $70 500gb Dara plan to gift the data to my main number?

            • @watson4884: Yes, that’s a better option - I was responding to the question if you could combine the 2 sims.

          • @bozbargain: Pretty sure that gifted data lasts longer than the 5 months. As long as you keep renewing the data doesn't dissapear?

            • @R3XNebular: Yes but at $15/month, this plan is not really worth keeping.

              • @bozbargain: Which plan would you suggest. At $15 a month i thought itd be good

                • @R3XNebular: I’d probably look at Woolies Mobile if you shop there anyway or take one of those long expiry Amaysim plans when they have a good cashback deal. Coles Mobile could be an option as well.

                  • @bozbargain: Doesn't seem as good as a deal as this with the potential for 2TB of saved data lol

            • @R3XNebular: Gift your data plan data to ur main number
As long as your main number is live should be fine.

  • sad I don't have a telstra service —- But I guess I won't need this sim if I have a telstra sim in the first place…. Would there be anywhere that ozbargainer willing to sell one of this at?

      Just ordered another @2000pts.
Had an old account with useless 1000pts, added 1000pt FREE GIFT

      • So, how this works? I just ordered and activated my $80 starter pack and it took $25 off from $80 credit. I have $55 left which may last another month of 2.

Now if I order another starter pack? Do I have to port out and port back in OR I can use simply use the credit?

        • I was discussing using Telstra Plus points to buy a $80 pack.
What you are discussing is different - the use of the pack.

You bought an &80 pack, didn't use Referral at activation as suggested by many for another $20 credit.

Best to read comments first. There is great advice. Ive learnt from others👍

          • @INFIDEL: No I did use referral on activation, thanks anyway. I'll read the comments. Belong support is not so great, I asked them these questions last week and it says on the support ticket generated that they will get back in 2 hours, you do the math.

            • +1

              @Zapwap:

              I have $55 left

You should have $75 credit left after using a referral.

Criticism here of bad customer service. Luckily I've never had to use it. Comments in Deals are usually more helpful.

  • First got this when it was reduced to 5k points in last deal, been very happy with it.
Just ordered 8 @ 2k points each. Should keep me and the mrs happy for the next 12 months.
Still have 16k Telstra points and not entirely sure what to spend them on, as I'm leaving Telstra next month (data plan finishes)
    Thanks OP!

  • Can you port your number in when activate the sim? Or need to activate it first then call up for port in?

    • +1

You can port your number in as part of the sim activation process. No need to call them.

  • Can I port in directly from Boost?

  • how to see the referral code? My belong mobile account doesnt have it? Is it only for Belong NBN (and refer a friend for Belong NBN)?

  • -1

Can anyone confirm whether theyv successfully sent themselves data using the same account or email? Or did you have to register a new acc using a new email to send yourself data

  • If I buy 3 of these, should I be able to use on the $25/month plan over the next year with a day or 2 porting in between each new sim?

  • +1

Can confirm I have nearly 2TB of data on my mobile sim. Used two emails, one primary email for the mobile plan and secondary email for ALL the data sims.
You can activate multiple Data Sims on the secondary account and gift yourself to the primary email account. I used paypal and went into the BELONG Paypal subscription and cancelled all for Belong. In order to cancel data sims on BELONG you have to actually message them via their support system to cancel. There is no where to automatically cancel the subscription. Cancelling via their support system + cancelling paypal subscription is to ensure you dont get billed $70 again. Thanks all, reverted the $25 to $15 mobile plan so I am paying $15 month for nearly 2TB worth of data on Telstra network. I did not use a referer code when signing up as I heard they can pick that up and potentially cancel your accounts. Not worth the headache…

    • Does the transferred data have an expiry even if you recharge? I get a message that the data will expire at the end of the bill cycle.

      • +1

I read that message, it says if you are sending it to another data plan it will expire at the end of the billing cycle. We are sending it to a mobile plan which should retain. https://www.belong.com.au/support/mobile/data-and-usage/how-…

If I have received a data gift, will that data be banked?

Yes for mobile plans, any data that you receive will be added to your data bank and available for use, so long as you continue to be a customer and make complete monthly payments on time.

You can gift data via the app or by selecting the Gift data button below. After that, you'll be prompted to log in to your Belong account using your username and password.

However, data banking isn't available on our data plans. You'll lose your unused data at the end of your billing cycle.

        • Awesome. That makes sense!! Thanks for finding this out!!

        • Can you receive SMS on the data SIM?

    • Why didn't you use someone else's referral code instead of your own?

    • Please update if the gifted data would be expired or not in next recharge cycle

    • If you have two $80 sims I know that you can add both under one email address/account. If for each of those you choose the $70/month 500Gb option is there anything you can do with the left over $10 or is that just lost?

      • +1

Just checked think the $10 disappears, cant see any credit anywhere

        • +2

If you click on "Manage Data", the next screen will show any credit you have ($10 in my case) and says, "We’ll take your monthly payment from this credit before we debit your chosen payment method". A 5GB Data Topup costs $10, but I haven't been game to try it, as it says, "We’ll charge your chosen payment method MasterCard card ending xxxx". If I knew for sure that it'd actually use the $10 credit instead, then I'd do it before I cancel the service, before the first month is up. Anyone feel like taking one for the team and reporting back? :p

You could let the service run into the second month on the $15 per month plan, and have the $10 credit applied towards it. You'd then be paying $5 (real dollars) for another 20GB, but I don't consider it good value.

          • +1

@Colin2905: It will take it out of your credit, this is what happens when I change from the $25 mobile plan to the $15 one.

          • +1

@Colin2905: I checked with Belong and they will take the 5gb, $10 top up out of your payment method so you can't use the remainder $10 for a top up - unfortunately.

            From Belong support:
"If you are looking to add any add-ons or make a top-up recharge, the amount will get directly debited from the registered payment details."

  • Just got my sim and tried to activate it, but it's expired

    • how does that work? does it have expire on the pack? maybe it's not activated.

      • No expiry date on the pack, just a production date 30/09/21. I'm on chat with boost rn

        • +1

          Boost or belong?

        • +1

Did you get it sorted? It doesn't make sense that it could be expired already. As per the back of the pack, "Credit will expire 12 months after purchase" and it's not even 12 months since it was produced, let alone purchased in your case.

Curiosity got the better of me, so I've just activated one (as a data plan) that I bought on 8/10/21 that has the same production date as yours; 30/09/21. No issues.

    • Do you know what message it said?

  • Pretty stupid you can only order 1 at a time

    • Yes, and they don't reconcile orders on their end either so expect multiple satchels if you order more than 1.

  • no esim :(

  • Shipped pretty soon after ordering, unlike Boost/Woolworths.

  • +1

after the initial 80 bux gets used up, I have to port out to another player like woolies and then port back for another $80 starter?

    And with $80 sounds like it's $25, $15, $15, $15? 4 month worth?

    • +2

      (1) Yes

      (2) If you use a referral (new accounts only), you'll get $100 credit / 5 6 months worth ($25, $15, $15, $15, $15, $15). Link to randomiser.

      • $80 from the pack and $20 from referral = total $100

        just to make it clearer

      • +1

$100 is 6 months if you start on the $25 plan then switch to the $15 plan.

        • +1

Argh yeah, my bad, 6 months not 5. Fixed now.

          • @hamza23: Trying to activate an $80 sim for porting, I'm upto the stage where it's going to send an SMS verification code to my number. But where do I put the referral code?

            • +2

@CVonC: Referral code input is right at the end of the registration process which has always baffled me.

              • +1

@Reveen: Cheers mate! Yeah I am kinda worried that it'll port over before I even get to use a referal!

Anyone else having issues with StarTrack pretending they attempted delivery and not leaving a card for local pick up?

    • +1

I just got a sms saying it has been delivered, but it hasn't been. Went online and I get "Returned to Sender - Incorrect address on item" message, but address was correct as I used same address as before and received my last one a few weeks ago.

      • I rang startrack and telstra, turns out address was correct, but because I ordered 5 sims and my mum ordered 5 sims to the same address and they put my mums label as well as mine on one of the sims, startrack suspected fraud and emailed telstra to confirm it was a legit purchase. Telstra never replied and startrack returned the sims. If I get my points returned it won't be until after this deal has expired.

    • +1

It seems it wont be delivered without ID check and calling card is not an option.
