contact Amaysim via Chat and see what they can do for you…..they are really good if you are a current customer and might give you credit towards changing your plan. Can't hurt to ask. I got the half price $120 plan last time for $60 by asking nicely. They did a special deal for me, even though it was technically for new customers. Not the first time they have done things like this for me. I know you don't get the cashback, but you still get a great deal without the hassle of doing porting out and in

  • I'm already with Amaysim, how to get onto this since it's for new customers only?

  • come on, I just changed to Woolworths last night :(

    • You win some you loose some

    • I've been with amaysim 165GB for $100 since last year (expiring June 1st), I almost bought a Coles mobile sim last night, could not have hopped for better timing.

    • +1

Woolworths is probably better if you do your groceries fortnightly or monthly as you get 10% off and 5% off egift cards.

Our car insurance is free because of the monthly 10% off

      • oh really that's awesome.
thinking change my car insurance :)

        • We spend 400+ on groceries every 2 to 3 weeks so 15% off that is what pays for the insurance

          • @easternculture: Ha. I bought my mum the $65 6 month woolies sim for her Christmas present and will auto recharge for her birthday - in a couple of months' time. As she never shops at Woolies, I do a big shop there once a month and reap the benefits. Though I do compare the prices at coles first.

      • Yup - we run 2 Woolies mobile sims and make a profit :)

We live in an area with only optus signal, but do a lot of caravanning, so run dual sim phones.

Also have car insurance with them. Main pain is having to have them all on separate rewards cards and remember to do shops on each card. Stupid Woolies.

  • +7

Currently on Amaysim 12M plan, not quite happy, signal is meh, keeps dropping & cut off during the call, and robot scam fake text bombarded everyday !! does anyone else experience the same ?

    • +2

yes, was same experience with me. Left the company and the spam reduced dramatically.
      Reception was horrid too.

    • You pay for what you get. Amaysim calls are on the 3G network so it's much inferior to the 4G network. Also half of the time when I make calls I don't hear the ring tones. I couldn't tell if it's calling until the call gets answered or rings out.

      • -1

Clearly advertised Optus 4G network, not 3G

        • +1

"Yes! All amaysim mobile and data-only plans are powered by the Optus 4G Plus Network. Currently the Optus 4G Plus network is a data-only network. The 3G network is still used to make and receive calls so you'll drop back to 3G signal whenever you make calls."

    • I'm on Vaya and it's pretty much the same.

I'm tempted to get this $60 sim to place in a gps tracker that I'll hide in my car.

      • +1

        You sure it’s for your car? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

      • if it is a GPS tracker for a car it will not be used much (mainly used if your car is stolen), if this is the case, I would recommend an Aldi Sim would be better, $5 to buy for the first year (365 expiry) then $15 every year after. On Telstra network so great coverage.

    • +2

Yep.. phone calls for me have been so bad! It gets cut off so often and sometimes the call sound turns into gibberish noise before it gets cut off.

I think it's the Optus network. Cos exactly the same thing happens on Catch Connect with an iPhone.

    • +3

@dina79 I got the 165GB 12 month plan last year. Had been with boost for 3-4 yrs prior and did not recall a single spam message or call. When I changed to Amaysim I ported my number and within days I started receiving multiple spam messages and calls every day since. Reception is between 0-1 bars inside the house. The Amaysim with bonus cashback was an incredible deal but for the sake of all the spam I am now not sure it was worth it! I did not realise changing providers would effect how much spam you get.

      • Yeah I've gotten heaps of spam calls too!

  • This or boost?

    • +5

      Boost

    • If you want to save ~$120 get this. Otherwise get Boost.

I am switching between Boost and this deal.

      • +1

I'm with catch connect currently, and it's so underwhelming, so I'm assuming amaysim would be similar on the optus network.

        Kinda leaning towards boost

        • +2

I constantly renew 4 different numbers for the whole family. Personally I think Amaysim and Catch are on the same level - Cheap but works fine. Boost is the best but you are paying extras for it.

        • +1

          Yep see my reply above

      • How is it $120? More like $50. .

$200 Boost sims (currently with 140GB data) can be had for the $150 mark. That makes it comparable to the 165GB/12M/$100 listed in this deal. For $50 extra, you're getting a much better network.

Totally agree this is a great deal (why I bought one), but you can't compare it with Boost IMO

        • You are right. For personal reasons I was comparing the $300 Boost sim which could be had for $225 instead of the $200 Boost sim.

  • +4

    $30 cashback last year.

    • Black Friday deal.

  • +6

Not as good as the $45 or $50 cashback they had last year on the $75 plans.

Any chance of negotiating a deal like that again, @tightarse

  • +1

Thank you! I was gonna buy lebara 80GB 180 days for 50 bucks at Woolies yesterday but luckily they didn't have it.

I got the exact plan for $55 in December last week (half price for $100 for the 165GB data, and then $45 casback) and they added 20 GB more when there's flood.

  • +2

Not sure if it’s just me - but in the past month or so I have noticed my network acting up. I never had problems before but now I have people complaining that they can’t hear me or I can’t hear them and the voice is getting dropped. And this is not only in my house, but also sometimes when I am out and about.
I am on Amaysim (North west Sydney) with the Groupon 6 month deal, into my 4th month, can’t wait to get off and try another provider.
Folks, do your own research before you commit into for an year!
Great deal if no network issues where you are.

    • +1

Yeah voice calls for me on amaysim and catch connect (both Optus) have been terrible since April.

    • This. Switched to Amaysim with that Groupon deal and I was missing calls at home (straight to voicemail), getting late texts. Bars were hovering between 1 and 0 most times.

Used Optus before at home and I don't recall any issues at all. Contacted Amaysim support which said I'm in a blackspot, and advised me to port out…

Ported out to Vodafone at the end of the first month and I'm not missing calls now at least, but I'll move back to Boost.

  • Would there be any issue putting this SIM inside a 4g mobile wifi modem router? It might be a silly question but for some reason I remember hearing something about only data sims working in these sort of modem routers.

    • +1

It should work. From time to time I do this quite a bit.

    • +1

I've had no issues doing this with Boost/Kogan in the past.

    • Thanks guys. Will give it a crack

  • +1

I noticed a considerable drop of call quality and internet speed. I was boost before signing up for the 12M.

It's good savings though, will probably wait a bit more and jump ship.

    • Call quality is terrible on amaysim and catch connect for me!

      • What state are you in?

        • Sydney, NSW

  • Sorry if it's a daft question, trying to move from Telstra postpaid to this deal:

What happens if you run out of data? Will you get charged?

Or will you simply be unable to browse internet until the maturity of the prepaid period?

    • During the prepaid period, if you run out of the data you "won't" get charged. Not sure you will be not able to browse internet or not cuz some provider they still provide internet just with a very limited capped speed.

But if your prepaid period ends and you keep using the internet, you would probably get charged

So this is what I love about prepaid plan, as long as your plan has not expired, you basically won't get any other charges.

This is my understanding (I have moved from postpaid plan for many years). Please correct me if there's anything wrong.

Glad I read this thread, I spoke to amaysim live chat and simply said I ordered a sim how long do I have to activate, told 30 days, reading here I'll activate on the 30th may instead of the 10th June.

    Thanks Ozbargainers

  • Incredible deal. Thanks TA.

  • +1

Yes the line can drop often but I thought it was my Samsung phone. Now Amaysim could be the suspect. Though their data line never has problem.

    • +1

I moved from Belong(Telstra network) a little over a month ago to SouthernPhone(Optus) and immediately had dropouts on voice but data was fine, think it's Optus lower priority MVNO's

      • think it's Optus lower priority MVNO's

100% this. Calls frequently drop out for me on amaysim and catch connect and on different phones too!

  • +2

Has anyone been actually received the cashback from amaysim? I bought the plan via shopback, cash back amount tracked into my shopback account then on the date of withdrawal, amaysim rejected with some non-sense reason. If the purchase is not elegible, why the amount could be tracked into Shopback account? Why not reject immediately or earlier but on the withdrawal date? I am new to this kinda of cashback schema and I feel it is a bit of "baiting" & "unreliable". Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

    • +1

Ive received confirmation of the cashback on Cashrewards but obviously will have to wait for the actual funds to hit my account. Cant comment on Shopback

      • Yeah I made some purchase with my CashBack account as well. I saw the money tracked into it but after this, I dont think I will get the money back :D

    • Did you activate the sim card within 30 days of purchase?

      • Yeah of course. I activated as soon as I received the sim card.

        • did u request for them (shopback) to investigate ur case and see if they give you a reason?

          • @caomei: Yeah I just did. Let's see what they said.

        • Then I don't know why it didn't work.

On my side, I've done quite a few purchases of Amaysim sim cards with both Shopback and Cashrewards and I got the cashback every time.

          • @lorikeet: Good to know that you could claim the cash back.

  • Thank you legend TA! Bought one.

  • Should probably wait closer to EOFY to get these deals huh? Been paying usual price

    • Do you think there would be more deals like this? Curious

  • +1

    Thanks Op.

  • Existing Amaysim customer here, but they would not apply any of these offers to me.

    Tried via chat line.

    • port out and in

      • I did think about this. My current plan is ok, just thought I would save a few bucks short term. Long term not much benefit for me.

    • +1

I am also an existing customer, and they did initially say no, only for new customers, but I asked again and they came back that they could credit it to the account.

      • Cheers. I will try again and see how it goes. Thanks.

      • I asked them and they gave me a 25% off credit, not quite as good but at least they did it.

        • keep asking might hit a lucky service dude

    • Dual SIM or esim

      • Single sim only.

    • I've tried three chats and none of the operators would allow me access to these offers.

      • I got 25% off as existing customer

  • +1

    Im an exsisting customer.
They just honoured the deal via live chat.
I miss out on the cashback but i dont even have a cashback account and the hassle of porting in and out and waiting for a sim has now been avoided.

    • Same here. They gave 100 credit to the account for matching the deal.

      • I think the difference may be that I am currently month to month?

        • I’m on mth to mth as well. Might just try to hit a lucky service ppl via chat

          • @stan-C: I will give it another go later. I don't really want to port out as I have 40gb already in data bank. But it would be nice to save $60 lol.

            • @revheadgl: Nice. I couldn't get it. Got 25%off only

              • @Jono258: I didn't try again. I will wait for the next one, timing wasn't quite right for me. My renewal would come at a bad time bills wise.

Well done on the discount, even if it was only 25%

  • For the $60 plan, it says first renewal $60. Does this mean 1st year $60 and then again $60 for 2nd year when renew for first time? So 2 years for $120?

    • +2

      2nd year renewal $120, not $60

  • Hi, my boost 12 month plan expired yesterday can I still keep my number and buy this deal? Also, I have an iPhone 11 so can I get an esim? Thanks

    • Yes and Yes

      • Thanks!

  • Recalled last time was $45 cashback for the $100 plan

  • I need to setup multiple new amaysim accounts, Is there a limit on cashrewards for this? I'm assuming you get all the mobile data from the start?

  • If the device is not in the "Check device compatibility" but has e-sim compatibility, will it not work?

  • To anyone wondering, just got onto chat. was told they will allow you to buy a starter pack sim and have this deal transfered over to it. Saves the on the wait time for the sim to be posted. Just need to get onto chat to get it sorted out.

    • +8

Please note this action will invalidate cashback.
