Following our last cheapskate i5 deal, Price Performance PC present to Ozbargainers a cheapskate 'upgrade' to a Sandy bridge i7-2600.

Again, this Dell Optiplex 990 is a nice compact unit for students or the home office.
Works well for surfing the web, multimedia, basic spreadsheet or word processing.

What it doesn't do:

  • Play the latest games (or any games other than Solitaire for that matter)
  • Light up like a Christmas tree
  • Not for 3D modelling, crunching large databases, bitcoin mining etc
  • Not worth upgrading
  • Warranty? This was manufactured in 2012. Enough said.

    If you’ve been using fairly new pcs, you will feel it as sluggish. Then you will want to throw it away and think you are getting what you pay for. It’s cheap but I won’t fall for it again.

      It's entry level computing, suited most for those who otherwise have no PC access. Not really something someone with thousands of dollars to spend on a PC would buy.
