  • usb-c monitors does that mean using usb-c as the display input?

    • Yes

      Input Connectors2xHDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C

    • +2

There will still be DP and HDMI inputs but the USB-c allows a laptop to display and charge simultaneously i believe. I have a usb-c monitor which is handy for work without needing a dock and messy cables.

      • USB-C can't do 165Hz, right? Only DP.

        • DP over USB-C should still let you hit 165Hz and the user guide for the display from Dell's own site confirms it.

          • @stigsphilocousin: Are you seeing something somewhere else?
From the manual: Dell G3223D manual
The SuperSpeed USB 5 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 1) Type-C port supports Alternate Mode DP 1.4. It supports a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440 at 60 Hz

            • @Wibbleman: Nope, same manual says on page 17 says: 2560 x 1440 at 165 Hz with HDCP 2.2 (DisplayPort 1.4/USB-C)

I did see that statement you posted so I wonder if the cable Dell includes is limited to 1440p at 60hz or if Dell made an error on page 17

EDIT: I know DP via USB-C works with high refresh as I have a diff monitor (Gigabyte M32Q so same IPS tech as this Dell) and i run a HDMI to USB-C cable from it to a Thunderbolt dock for my laptop and i can get the max 144hz on HDMI 2.0 on my laptop which is the limit on the monitor's HDMI ports.

    • probably works with both thunderbolt and DP over USB-C

    • But that doesn't necessarily mean you can charge laptops with it.

  • In before the “already OOS” comments 😎

      in before "i'm a mOOSe"

  • Any good deal for wqhd monitor coming up?

  • what about "Dell Inspiron 14 5425 Laptop AMD Ryzen™ 7 5825U " , my son need a laptop next semester , I am not confident for AMD ……

    • +2

Amd is more efficient than Intel at the moment, I'm using the same chip at the moment, it runs very smooth
      Hope this helps

  • Laptop deal looks pretty slick, no? I mean performance wise excluding gaming?

    • Looking for a deal for a friend, this was ticking a few boxes except then I saw the 250 nit screen which doesn't sound too flash?
Can anyone comment how "not great" this would be for basic everyday web browsing, email, Microsoft Office etc.
Or would it be fine for the price?

      • +1

Purely judging by specs as its hard to find say youtube reviews on these random Dell models. It will be fine for your proposed use case. The 250 nits will only be a major issue if you're using it outdoors or in areas where you cannot control lighting.

It seems to be slightly heavy at 1.54kg but trade off is a 14" screen and I am unsure whether it can charge via USB C, it says power delivery but I'd personally would double check that, if your friend is fine with the barrel charger I'd say your getting a pretty good value everyday use laptop.

  • Bugger. Was hoping for a curved 32" qhd deal.

    • Did check Dell site with 20% + 7% student discount?

  • Any XPS deal in the pipeline?

  • would you guys recommend this to be used with ps5

    • No, that would be Dell g3223q. Ps5 doesn't play well with 2K

      • Note that the HDMI port is not full bandwidth, so you gonna get 4:1:1 subsampling with PS5

        • On the G3223Q?

        • But as per rtings, it only really affects text clarity. That's not a major loss on consoles. Overall it's still the best 4K 120Hz screen under $1000 from my research. I've also considered the LG C2 42", but it's more than double the price
          https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/g3223q

          • @Ibz: Yeah, I know but some people just want full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 lol. Personally I'm using Dell G3223Q for a month now (PC user), and it's been great.

            • @Masticccc: That's great to hear. I'm thinking of buying it and the 2 things holding be back have been bad input delay at 60Hz and the half bandwidth. But yet again for the price im okay with the bandwidth. How's your experience been for the former. Does it feel very responsive or a bit 'laggy' like a TV

              • +1

@Ibz: I always use the monitor at 144Hz so can't say much about that

  • @dealbot. Anything on the s2721ds?

  • +1

Anyone have this laptop and know what usbc charging it supports? It says usb c with power delivery, but has a dc barrel jack and 65w charger as well.
Can it charge at the full 65w over type c?

    • -1

On the spec-sheet, one of the ports is a "USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C™ with Power Delivery and DisplayPort" which supports up to 100W charging.

So, the answer is "Yes", the laptop can be charged via the USB-C port.

    • No it doesn't charge the Laptop. I have this monitor, The USB-C is only upstream

      • This monitor, or this laptop?

  • oh finally Dell released a 32" ips. I've been waiting for decent cheap ones for last 3 years.

Too bad my WFM arrangement changed recently, I've bought a bunch of old monitors on eBay instead lol.

Jumped on a dell monitor at the outlet a couple of weeks ago. I can't even be bothered with typing out all the bulllllllllllllllllshit their outsourced support has put me through, let alone startracks antics (classic slip dump-and-run scam). Which are made even more amusing by dell insisting the item hasn't been dispatched for delivery yet, while Startrack tell me the consignment is from dell.

Been a week of startracks "attempted redeliveries" lies (they get paid for each one) when I've asked them several times to let me pick up at depot. Dell keeps promising on the phone they'll open a case then immediately sending an email saying they've closed the case, from a no-reply, but with a "How am I doing? Let my supervisor vishnu_a@ (etc)" which is also completely ignored.

is the usb-c monitor better than the 34 inch gaming monitor from the other day?

  • Hey any deals coming up on the AW3821DW?

I've been keeping an eye out. Really want that monitor for a good price :)

  • Can anyone suggest how to contact Dell regarding a warranty replacement?

  • Do these really take a month to deliver?

    • Dell ebay usually stretch the eta delivery more than the actual date. I get the G3223Q for around 2-3 weeks iirc, located in Sydney Inner West

      • Thanks man. I ordered the G3223D a week and a half ago so this at least puts me at ease. Hopefully Perth delivery is similar

        • Is it good? What were you using before may I ask?

Sorry I meant to reply to Masticccc.

          • +1

@beOson: It's good overall. The worst thing I can say is that it doesn't support Gsync officially, if you have nvidia card and try to use gsync will result in constant flickering. There is an option to change color format from RGB to YCbCr422 so that you can use g-sync, but it will result in 4:2:2 subsampling which will annoy some people. Personally I don't see the difference so it's working great for me.
My previous monitor is Gigabyte M27Q, it's a great monitor with KVM feature that benefits me a lot when WFH. I upgrade to Dell G3223Q mainly because I want to try 4K monitor, and still using the M27Q as a sub monitor right now.

            • @Masticccc: I am currently using this - https://www.umart.com.au/product/asus-27in-2k-qhd-ips-144hz-… (27in 2K-QHD IPS 144Hz) and finding it hard to decide between G3223D or the S3422DWG.

I prefer to try curve & ultrawide monitor this time without losing on PPI (S3422DWG is 109PPI same as the current 27" QHD). But then the G3223D has IPS panel which is what I am using.

            • @Masticccc:

The worst thing I can say is that it doesn't support Gsync officially

Are you able to check if gsync can be enabled via HDMI 2.1 please? Cos my laptop's 3060 is connected only to the HDMI 2.1 port (doesn't have a mux to redirect it to the USB-C port) and I believe in order for me to use gsync it needs to connect to a HDMI 2.1 monitor. Apparently it works fine on a Gigabyte FV43U (which mind you, seems to be at an okay price of ~$900 atm)

              • @CVonC: Pretty sure G-sync compatible only works with DP (some source said it works with HDMI 2.1, but I doubt that). And this monitor isn't "official" G-sync certified anyways, so your best bet will be using DP from monitor.

  • It's 28/5 12pm, why the Dell 32 USB-C Monitor G3223D not at $499, yet?

    • +1

There were nearly 15 sold in 5 minutes, mine was $499 with the code PWE32, you had to apply the code at checkout.

      • Do I need ebay plus?

        • +1

It appears to be an eBay PLUS weekend deal at $499

        • +1

          Read title.

  • Thanks dealbot
I got one, so many monitors around this price point. This one just seemed to fit my needs the most

  • +1

Hi Dealbot. Any possibility of a better deal on G3223Q?

  • As for the laptop, trying to send a message to Dell on eBay for 3 year extended warranty options. But it says "recipient is not the seller of the item"??

Edit: just sent via desktop instead of app and it worked :/

  • Is the monitor deal still available (for eBay Plus members)? - Dell 32 USB-C Gaming Monitor - G3223D

  • Is it suitable for the WFH monitor as well?

    • It will be great as both a wfh and gaming monitor combo. As I will do both in large amounts it's perfect, yet to receive though. However if I didn't plan to game then I would probably go for a 4k 60hz monitor.

  • How does this laptop compare value wise with the https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/701314?

The notable difference seems to be build quality and screen (Dell 250 nits vs Lenovo 300 nits)?

  • @dealbot any chance S2722QC is having a sale before EoFY?

  • Is the g3223d suitable for a Macbook Pro, and do I still need to purchase a DP to USB c converter to get 165hz, or would a usbc to usbc suffice?

  • Already received the monitor, I was expecting a month or 2 wait. Will be trying out it very soon 😁

    • And of course it's DOA
