Hisense U80G 75" 8K ULED Android TV [2021] $2599.20 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ Limited in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

80
92FRENZY

Previous deal from Costco here for $2699.99 in-store or $2899.99 online (free delivery).

Use JB Hi-Fi's Click Frenzy code for a better final price of $2599.20. I believe the delivery is $59 with Toll YMMV. Stack gift card and cashback programs for more saving. Should be the lowest it's been for quite a while, if not ever.

It seems Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide distribution centre are in stock. I checked QLD, NT, WA and TAS postcodes all shows unavailable.

It's NOT an OLED TV. It's 8K VA panel. Compared to the 85" variant it has some compromises (of course the size, wider lower bezel, worse speakers, etc.) but functionally the same (HDMI 2.1 compatible with most of the features you're looking for - 120Hz, VRR, just check the discussion on Costco 85U80G deal page). U80G series are Android TV-based, not the other OS.

For this price, I'd say you get what you paid for 👍

Update: 75U90G can use the same code for $3139.20 + delivery. See below for my thought process.

Huh I thought the code expired yesterday, code still works lol

    • Yeah, I was surprised as well.
      Clearly says "ends 26th May".

I tried this morning it did expire.

        • I guess it expired at midnight. Makes sense.

  • For 75U90G vs 75U80G:

Basically add ~$550 to get miniLED backlight and better built-in sound system from 85U80G. It looks like otherwise pretty much the same TV as 75U80G. Still good price, but for $3000+ maybe you should consider some 4K 85" models instead, unless you're here for 8K, since U90G series have no 85" model (in fact no any other sizes, only 75").

  • Don't think our average nbn speeds support 8k streaming

      Upscale 4k sigbal?

    • 100/20 should be fine. I'm on 50/20 and YouTube 8K HDR streams fine. The bitrate is ~50-55Mbps. But that's YouTube. I assume proper streaming platforms got a higher bitrate (if they offer 8K at all).

  • Surely there is a wiki somewhere detailing how, why and when 8k or beyond will be important in Australia

  • 8k… limited support for 8k? Broadband data sucker? Lower res will look pixelated?

    • lol time will tell. Still waiting for mine to arrive at the doorstep.

      • My 42” looked great in SD, my 55” only looks good in HD and up.
