TGG store credit is useless, good price though.
All Bonus Store Credits will expire within seven (7) days of the Credit Dispatch Date (July 14, 2022).

    • Good for extra filters, bang bang etc though

      • +3

Exactly, to use this machine you will need to buy cleaning tablets/powder and filters.

Good guys sell a decent amount of useful accessories too like a tamping mat, knock boxes, coffee bean canisters (keeps the beans fresh an extra few days to a week) and espresso/latte glasses.

Buy a 4 pack of Apple AirTags and sell them on GT/Marketplace easy to convert it to cash.

      • Is there that much resell for airtags..?

        • +1

Yep, they run out of stock fast in-store and are becoming a lot more popular since theft is on the rise as cost of living starts to drastically increase.

      • You can't use these credits towards Apple products unfortunately.

        • Just give it a try when you get yours. Many years ago I had the store credit from a promotion such as this and used it to buy the iPad 3 without any issues. Unless they have now fixed it.

    • Seven days? That's ridiculous.. As callmechicky said, best use might be to buy something with easy resale value if you don't need anything else.

    • +5

Not useless but not great either

      • Yup, either get something that’s easy to resell or sell the store credit on Classifieds at 5% off

        • Even at 10% off, you could get this machine effectively for ~$440 which is insane.

      • Last time I got a deal like this I bought a range hood at the same time… so yeah it's an upsell but for me it was an item I was looking to buy anyway.

        • Yeah, I got TGG C&C bonus with the Breville Dual Boiler deal pre Mother’s Day, and didn’t receive the bonus til last week and was surprised I only had 7 days to use the $100 credit. Ended up buying a robovac that Id being eying for a while, so it’s an okay deal, but would’ve preferred to have known beforehand. To be fair, the price of the dual boiler even before th cash back was already very good, so more a sweetener than a swaying decision to buy

          • @Rscit: How did you receive the store credit? I purchased via a guest account

            • @d0nkey: Via email - yours should come if you entered your email even on a guest account

  • +3

Accept that a key term of earning the Bonus Store Credit amount is to accept receiving marketing materials from The Good Guys up to the date the earned Bonus Store Credit is paid out via email.

Any deals on bambino plus? Would like a separate grinder

    • Check marketplace, lots of people don't know how to use them and end up selling them barely used because they can't produce a good coffee out of them.

Although the express is a basic machine, this deal is pretty much unbeatable, and the coffees it can produce are pretty decent. It's actually harder to get decent coffees out of the bambino machines, it takes a lot of practice to dial in everything, and that machine has its limitations (biggest of all is lack of temperature control)

      • -3

damn how incompetent would you have to be to not be able to make good coffee on Bambino plus that comes with pressurized basket.

        • +1

I struggled initially with both pressurized and the separately purchased single walls.

I actually got to a point where I was happy with the results but not floored, and found it difficult to replicate time and time again.

Ended up getting a fully Auto delonghi magnifica s (milk frothing done manually). Best ever coffee purchase I've made.

      • Yeah its for my sisters new place and ill be getting her the grinder so she prefers Bambino plus with the milk steamer. I dont imagine temperature control is important as i think she drinks darker roast anyway

        • +1

If she ever tries light roasts, just run two blank shots through a pressurized basket to bring the temperature up. There's a detailed Reddit post somewhere.

  • good price!

  • Since it he credit is only for a week and recommendations on what to use it for to go with coffee machine ie knock box, cups etc?

    • +3

Knock box, descaling fluid concentrate, cleaning tablets are a good start!

  • +1

Absolutely awesome. Bought my machine second hand 7 years ago. Had a full service at Bravo 6 months ago to replace some seals now it's good as new again. Cannot recommend this enough if you're tapping out 1-2 coffees a day

    • +2

Bravo or breville? Curious how much this costs? Got a link I can look up? Cheers

      • +2

Bravo Repairs is an official Breville service centre in Sydney.

        • Cheers. I’ll check it out.

    • Interested in this too as my aging one is having some minor issues

    • +1

1-2. I drink 4 a day plus my wife and it's the best thing I've ever bought

    • How much does a service cost and what exactly do they do? I've had my machine for about 3-4 years so not sure whether it's in need of a service. I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary

  • Probably has been asked here before but here it goes again, what is the main difference in terms of coffee quality between this and the dual boiler for $300 more?

    • -1

Zero. They use the same psi. The dual boilers benefit is speed. You can pull a shot and steam milk at the same time and quicker and better milk results. For 2 people the express is more than enough. More than 2 coffees I would look into a dual boiler. And express has built in grinder where others you need to buy one seperate.

      • The dual boiler takes longer to heat up right? And will maybe keep a better temp.

        • +2

It’s over simplifying it saying there is zero difference between the two.

Completely different heating systems, porta filter is a different size, just to name a few.

Sure if you just drink milk drinks you may not notice much of a difference but if you want to start getting into the espresso hobby then there are huge differences between the two.

    • +2

what is the main difference in terms of coffee quality between this and the dual boiler for $300 more?

      Off top of my head:
Dual Boiler got more powerful steam
      Better temperature stability
      58mm commercial size filter baskets
No build-in grinder (big advantage in terms of coffee quality if you get Eureka grinder or similar)
Some convenience features like better pressure gauge and better LCD screen (shot timer, scheduled wake up)
Some people were saying Barista Express out of the box is configured for higher brew pressure (which is bad fro coffee) but I am not sure about this

      Both machines are very capable.
Dual Boiler is the top of the range (I know I know, Oracle.. which is the same old Dual Boiler but with extra fluff) :)

    • -2

It's not $300 more, it's way more. This deal is effectively $440, and includes a basic grinder.

With the dual boiler, you're getting proper barista quality coffees at home, assuming you fork out $6-$700 for a decent grinder. The actual differences have been outlined above by other posters.

If you're serious about coffee get the dual boiler. If you're going to be happy with decent quality coffee on a budget, you can't beat this deal.

Unreal, I bought yesterday's deal. Haven't picked it up yet though, any idea if I can cancel the order or swap it around somehow? No obvious way out in the order conf email :(

    • Try your luck to speak nicely to the online support to see if you can get the $80 store credit? They have price guarantee for concierge members but unsure it covers store credit offers such as this.

    • I called customer service and they couldn't give the store credit as it's online through orders directly on the website. So they offered to just cancel the Ebay order and asked me to buy through the website. Slightly inconvenient but I just did that for the store credit.

      • How did you contact them? I keep getting routed to store staff who say they can't help me.

        • 1300 466 348 is the number I called. This is the customer support team line. Hope it helps.

  • +2

Ok, i bite the bullet and finally got it. Was so close yesterday with the Ebay deal

    • same here, have been thinking to pull the trigger yesterday
while I am quite happy with my nespresso creatista uno (especially with the milk temperature and making coffee art)
still feel the coffee quality not close to the Cafe standard

this price is just too good to get the machine….

  • +2

Great machines, they last for ages. I want to replace our dual boiler version that’s finally worn out after almost a decade of heavy use, hope for discounts on one soon 👍

  • Can you buy gift card with voucher?

    • +2

might be a bit risky given the $120 store credit is for spending $500+ with click and collect using PayPal in 4

also, paying using GC might ineligible for cashback tracking from shopback

      • How long are these store credits valid for? a year or more?

    • You will miss out the extra $40 store credit for Pay in 4 offered by PayPal.

  • +1

Thought I'd share that we returned ours only after 2 months as the pressure was all over the place when prep stayed consistent. Ended up researching it and found it was pretty common on this model, many others with the same problem and needed to return/get it fixed. Switched to Delonghi and have been happy ever since. Glad to hear though from the comments here current owners have had better luck.

No stock for C&C in Sydney :(

    • Auburn has stock ?

      • Auburn has no stock for C&C. Closest is Tuggerah.

        • They did when I commented 4.5 hours ago.

  • What accessories would people recommend to complement this model?

    • coffee beans

    • is it worth getting a Coffee Leveller?
and maybe a Coffee Grind Bin?

  • NOOOO I bought the eBay deal only this morning with shopback giftcards. If I cancel the order I'd be stuck with $530 in TGG giftcards.

    • Called and cancelled the web order on Ebay. Very quick and easy

  • any idea how long this deal is for?

    • +1

10% off code is valid for today only

  • When do the store credits arrive? Wonder if I can use them today as part of the 10% discount and rack up more store credits. Slow perpetuate loop

    • +1

No chance. Takes 6 weeks to receive it. Need to use it within 7 days. I bet there’s no sale at TGG during that week.

  • I've got no experience about making coffee and only used pods in the past few years. Is it a good starter machine for someone like me, or I should go something a bit better than this? I'm making expresso 80% of the time and latte for the rest. Thanks

    • Same here. I guess this machine is a good one for beginners like us and you can sell it and upgrade later if you want.

      • I pulled the trigger.
The price is just unbeatable with the cashback and store credit… I'm going to collect it in an hour.

        • +1

Enjoy, I got this a couple years ago after using a pod machine and the difference is night and day. Started off with aldi beans until I got the hang of what to do, even overdosing those beans and not tamping correctly tasted a lot better than a pod coffee lol.

  • +3

    Hey all
Apologies for the delay - I’ve reached out to GYB and he has confirmed that CHILLY10 is an eligible code for 6% cashback at ShopBack

    Enjoy! :)

      ty!

Legend! For this reason I ended up going with the Black Sesame, not very OzB of me but $100 extra in cost it was in-store so could click&collect tomorrow for a $120 TGG gift card + the 6% cashback. technically better off than the licorice model as it wasn't in stock anywhere in Syd for C&C

    • what about using gift cards, another 5- 10% off??

  • +1

7 days to use a gift card is absolutely ridiculous. They obviously know, 90% of them would expire before being used.

    • I didn't even receive it last time, because didn't enable marketing emails in my account.
Really need to read T&C in details to get TGG credit and spend it on time.

      • How do you enable marketing emails? I just bought the machine and didn't see the option to "opt-in". Assumed you're automatically subscribed every time you make a purchase through their website.

        • +1

          No, it's not automatic.
You need to go to account setting to enable it if you didn't tick marketing emails when first time sign up TGG account. It's under personal information,
"I'd like to receive special offers, exclusive discounts and marketing material by"

    • And they’ve probably timed it to be used during the 7 days when TGG doesn’t have any sales or promotions on.

  • +2

Anyone else have issue with ShopBack tracking - never had issue until now :(

    • I seem to always have issues with the big stuff not tracking.

      • +1

Mine came through about 24hrs later thankfully

  • Can anyone recommend a good tamper to go with this machine? The one that comes with it has too much of a gap, if you know what I mean, leaves grounds around the sides when I tamp. Maybe I need to dose a little less?

  • So I've put an order through and paid with Paypal pay in 4. How do I apply for the store credit?

    • You need to go to account setting to enable it if you didn't tick marketing emails when first time sign up TGG account. It's under personal information,
"I'd like to receive special offers, exclusive discounts and marketing material by"

Then set a reminder to check Junk email folder on 14th July.

      • Damn, I didn't even sign up for a TGG account. Looks like I missed it then. These instructions should have been in the original post.

        • register one with your contact email, enable marketing emails, ask customer support link your invoice to your new account if not automatic, finger crossed the voucher would arrive.

          • @Mandalorians: I'm not seeing a customer support email or number. How can I link the purchase to the account? I read the T&Cs of the offer and it doesn't actually say you have to have an account.

            • @navman: Not sure, was just providing an idea. probably call 1300 942 765 in the home page.

              • @Mandalorians: I've sent them an inquiry using the online form.

                • @navman: Please let us know their answer. I'm also same position with you.

                • @navman: Did you receive any response? I sent them an online enquiry last month to double check that I was signed up for special offers and marketing material, etc but no response till now…

  • Did anyone get the extended warranty? How difficult is it to get Breville to fix something?

    • I had to go to a specialised repair centre near the airport in Sydney, 80kms from my house. They did a great job and returned by courier.

      • Curious, how much did you pay to have it repaired? or was this covered under warranty?

        • Warranty, couple of weeks from memory.
