    • I said to myself before clicking into deal - hey that looks like the one Christian had and then Dyson expressly issued a statement that said DO NOT use lmao

      • +1

I mean, dyson also explicitly warns against using basic attachments that aren't their 80 dollar dyson-branded ones. So you know, grain of salt.

        • +4

I think there's quite a difference between a 3rd party mop head attachment using water VS a simple 3rd party crevice tool or w/e in terms of risk.

        • There’s a bit of a difference between identical but manufactured off brand and slightly lower quality, and a wet mop attachment for a product that says warranty void if exposed to water.

    • +2

I was wondering about that when I saw this post. I I mean you’re turning a dry vacuum into a wet and dry vacuum which doesn’t sound like the greatest of ideas considering that it’s not meant to deal with liquid

What’s interesting to see is how people don’t realise this is a bad idea

  • Who has this. I need IRL review pls.

    • bought one, instantly regretted it

Cheaper on AliExpress, just search for Dyson Electric Mop Head. Unless you need it immediately wouldn't buy through here.

    • Not that cheaper tho

        Cheaper is cheaper on OzBargain

Dyson's aren't wet/dry, this seems like a really great way to get mould everywhere and destroy your vacuum.

    • +4

Sounds like something big vacuum would say /s

    Buyer beware

Say bye to your Dyson warranty.

Who on earth would run water through a vacuum full of electronic components…..

    • -5

Perfectly fine, it just dyson hasn't thought of that, busy making masks lol
Robo vac can do that years ago.

It just draw power from the extension rod, I'm beginning to wonder how dyson even know if someone using this. Worst case battery will die bit quicker over the period of time.

      • +4

Well you know, obvious signs of water throughout the vacuum would be one way to tell.

    • Can I do the same with a hair dryer? Asking for a wife.

  • +4

    It's like a toaster add-on for a fish tank.

    • What so different to this ?https://www.mi.com/global/product/mi-robot-vacuum-mop-2/

      • +2

$63 add-on Vs. $1.5k tech built specifically for the purpose. Dyson haven't spent anytime considering the application of wet dry to their device. Something as simple as a long term forced alteration to flow levels, a muffling affect - could cause unexpected results. Unless a lab can state such things are safe to use, I'd stay away. This is certainly void warranty territory. Not something I'd want to do with a $1549 device. If there was truly a dollar to be made in this space - Dyson would step up. They'd even offer it as an upgraded package. Until that day, no thank you.

          • +2

@boomramada: I'm not actually sure what you are saying. Because they do extensive R&D on their bread and butter filtration systems, this somehow means that their consumer stick vaccums and water should mix in June 2022, when they have explicitly stated not to do this under any circumstances?

  • +3

I have tried this. Absolute rubbish product, heads barely turn and water barely comes out.

    • Thought this was a great idea just by looking at the pictures lol!

  • +3

Wow, for just $63 I can ruin my $1500 appliance. Thanks OP!

Just get a steam mop from KMart for $49:

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/1300w-steam-mop-42725350/?

cheaper, works better and won't kill your Dyson.

  • how is this a deal ? ebay and https://www.batterymate.com.au/ got better deals

  • +1

Get the Tineco Floor One S3 from the other deal if you're interested in mopping and vacuuming at the same time without killing your Dyson.

    • This. F1S3 is terrific, these 3rd party unauthorised accessories are complete shit, not to mention cheaper on eBay.

  • -2

Cheaper on eBay at under $49. Good for spot mopping. A lot of people are getting this wrong. It does not utilise the vacuum function. It's just using the power to rotate the circular heads. So you will not wreck your vacuum. It's no different to other wet cleaners on the market. Samsung give you one with the jet vacuum. It's good for a quick "spot mop". Easier to spray some Windex or something on the part of floor you need to spot clean and then use the mop heads to clean it.

    • It use the vacuum function just like normal. Plenty of videos on youtube showing how it works.
Dyson can handle a very small amount of water but it's absolutely at your own risk.

When you get too much water inside the Dyson the dust will glue onto the wall of the bin and disturb the cyclone action. Even if you are lucky enough to not getting the water into the motor, you will have a hard time cleaning the bin and the cyclone unit.

  • Does this literally suck the water up into dust cannister of the Dyson? If it does, then it is a terrible design. If only it just used the suction to spin the mops around, but not suck anything other than air into the cannister.

    • This one is just dual circular brushes head with a water tank add on that drips water, so you're definitely sure your Dyson will suck wet debris inside. Better spend more for a machine that is designed specifically for that purpose like the Bissell Crosswave.

  • My bad. The Samsung one has no vacuum suction at all. Just 2 rotating heads that you can either attach 2 wet wipe type pads or microfiber pads. My friend had one of these for the Dyson. Never mentioned the vacuum function. Just checked and now said thats why she just sprays a tiny amount of floor cleaner and uses its to spot clean any marks and so far her dyson has been fine
