YouTube Premium via Argentina: ARS $119/Month (Single ~A$1.38/Month, Family ~A$2.07/Month, VPN Required only to Register)

7460

Resharing after 6 months for those unaware of the workaround to get YouTube Premium at a fraction of the normal price (with credit to HiDave for the original find). It's also around $0.27 cheaper per month now. Personally been using this for over 2 years and works flawlessly with 28 Degrees MasterCard (no fees). Stay safe, and enjoy :)

Very straightforward process:

  1. Use a VPN to connect to an Argentinian server (required only for registration).
  2. Open an incognito browser window.
  3. Sign up via the main link in this post (or here).
  4. If an Argentinian address is requested, use this link and Google the postcode.
  5. Pay with a card that has no foreign exchange fees.
  6. Enjoy the full benefits of YouTube Premium.

YouTube Vanced is still working fine for me, I guess I'll move over once it actually stops working.

    • +1

There are some other apps available now too.

      • +2

Looking for a replacement for vanced. Any recommendations?!

        • +8

Try New Pipe . Works good for me .

          • +1

@denzele: For me anyway - everything works on newpipe except I've never been able to actually play a video.

          • @denzele: Thanks I'll give that a go, its on the FDroid store too and its open source.

          • @denzele: https://newpipe.net/#download

            Is this the link

            "A File might be harmful

Do you want to download NewPipe_v0.23.0.apk anyway?

            Cancel

            Download anyway"

          • @denzele: Tried NewPipe

Unlike Vanced, couldn't sign in to get all my playlists or history.
Vanced was basically YouTube premium free, NewPipe was nothing like that at all.

Looks like I'm going to Argentina route to Premium

        • +1

Try NewPipe. Hearing good things about it. If on FireTv there is another app which comes out with the name "Tube". Best app for side loading on an Android based TV system. All but praise for it.

        • Yup. This super cheap subscription. Details above. 🙄

    • +22

Sure. But this gets you ad free access on you're tv apps, when chromecasting etc, with family plan you can sort kids iPads, add friends in etc. If that's ya thing.

      • +1

Do you still need to switch your account to an Argentina address and forfeit any Google Play wallet credits to be added to an Argentinean accounts family plan? I currently just use a burner YouTube account paying for a single Argentina plan, but last time I looked into upgrading it to a family plan to give my family members premium access, it seemed like a massive hassle to even do so for the above reason.

        • Yep when I tried it you still have to do that. It's quite a bit of effort….

        • +2

It's not entirely a bad idea for all the family to use separate accounts just for YouTube. And no real names.
You can have multiple Google accounts on one device, unlike Apple.

          • @bargaino: do you just use the same mobile number for all accounts?

            • +1

@lenjet: You can hit limits. I have

        • in contrast, mine could not have been easier…i paused my normal family sub to try this out but didnt realise i was still signed in prior to entering Argentina and it transferred me as soon as i accepted/unpaused my existing plan.

      • *your

        Cheers

      • tv apps? smarttube

        • Tizen though :(

    • +1

Can i use vanced on chromecast with google tv?

      • -1

        Neg

      • +5

I use Smart Tube next on CCWGTV, but requires sideloading

        • I use this on firetv - works a treat

      • You can cast/mirror you phone screen with Google home as a workaround

        • +1

          Yikes!

    • Do you have to signin with your google account?

    • -1

Vanced started to play up for me. Videos wouldn't load properly, the saved videos were deleted etc. So I've uninstalled it completely. Also looking for a free alternative.

      • -1

Same. Vanced was always my go to app and loved it
Hardly watch YouTube now with all the ads and other crap

Vanced started playing up and then I got that message that it was being shut down so deleted it

    • +2

I use Smart tube on my Google Chromecast. Even though I have YT premium. It even cuts out in video sponsors and other redundant stuff.

    • -1

Bugger. My YouTube Vanced was always playing up so I deleted it

    • Cheap enough not to worry but good if it does the job. Can you have your phone screen off and listen? Ars hack is great, still going from years ago.

    • +2

I think they've removed it from the store but if you side load the apk file it's fine, in fact I'm pretty sure I received an update after the news it would be sun set.

Restore dislikes, removed intro, sporsor, and ending segments, this alone is better than just removing the YouTube inserted adds. Still having to sit through sponsored segment is still waste of time.

      til… Thank you :)

Picked this up last time, great deal đź‘Ś

I’ve got single set up via Argentina, can I convert this to a family plan?

    • Yes I did this recently. Very straightforward

      • Do you need to use VPN when converting?

      • Any tips? I’ll whilst logged in to a desktop web browser via VPN. Is there any requirements when adding the family member?

        • Would like to know too

        • +3

Personally, I skipped adding family members while subscribing to YouTube premium, then went to https://families.google.com/families (no VPN) to add family members and ran into no problems while inviting or accepting.

          • @renarune: I can't figure it out at all. The only options I come across are deactivating or editing the payment method

          • @renarune: I didn't think you can add families in other countries unless I am missing something. So you have to add first no?

            • @G-rig: My Google account region is still Australia (using my usual account), it's only that one of my payment profiles was for Argentina (one for Australia, one for India, one for Turkey). So I wasn't adding family members from other countries.

As I mentioned, I added family members after subscribing to YouTube premium and ran into no problems, but since many other people seem to have problems for some reason, it would probably be easier to do so before subscribing.

Or maybe as someone else commented, you could close the Argentina payment profile, then add family, then resubscribe.

              • @renarune: Yes, I should have created a family plan before signing up via Argentina, anyway only I use it so no worries.

Easiest making another one but won't bother.

        • All family members has to have to argentina address. A bit of problem as I have switch to argentina and now my google store won't allow me to download from Australia app store

          • @CoreJava: Yes that's what Im saying and have to change account to Family first before signing up to Argentina.

Anyways hasn't been worth touching it now since

  • +8

Damn.. cheaper than YouTube Premium in India from the older post

    • Yeah, less than half, India is $2.34 as of today

      • +8

Not sure if the hassle of moving countries and any possible issues is worth the move from an Indian account for me. It's still cheap, so might just leave as is.

        • Curious if anyone has done this, though. Can't imagine it's too much of a red flag* to switch from one country to another despite never being in either other than for billing, but what's the process like?

*If they really wanted to, this type of practice would be easy to crack down upon.

  • +3

Thanks OP . Bought 2 with free click and collect

    • +1

Hey how did you get that? I only got subscribe and save option?!?!?

  • +2

So I have to create a new YouTube account?

      • +9

Ofc youtube has the time and resources to troll through a bargain website to check if people are using vpns to get discounted accounts right?

I'm sure they're also checking the pixel deals while they're on this website to see whose abusing the grandfathered unlimited uploads?

        What a joke

      • +6

You what mate? Illegal hacked account? That’s not how this works

      • +2

        Geez Jimmy, overreacting much?

No illegal hacked account is involved here, just a VPN and credit card payment.

Google is not going to punish people for giving them money.

      • +1

Didn’t know Sundar pichai was on OZB. Let alone commenting on YT “deals”:).

      • +1

love that ozbargain is sharing their user's IP addresses with youtube

oh wait, they're not doing that, because that would be stupid

      • +4

You should swap some of your IT 101 Basics with General Knowledge 101 Basics.
Just think how ridiculous your statement is for a company the size of Google

Does your IT Basics teach you about VPNzzzz?

      • +1

        BAHAHAHAHA.

      • I think this might be a perfect example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

      • +3

Gotta "love it" when people comment without knowing anything about the subject.

FWIW I've been on this "illegal" google hack for over 3 yrs. Google wouldn't give 2 sh**s about whether people are using this hack. All that matters to them is that we continue to use Google services. If people really wanted to stick it to them, don't use Google's stuff i.e. not google search, not gmail, not Chrome, not youtube, not drive, not android phones (for those that are on it) etc etc etc.

  • Fantastic, I assume one can current subscription then grab this?

  • +2

    Works with ING a treat.
I think the only small side issue I found was when I used the same email address on my google tv and tried to download certain apps it wouldn’t allow me cos it thought I was from Argentina. Took me ages to work out why the apps weren’t downloading. Easy workaround was sign in with another gmail address and download them.

    • +1

Would it be best to sign up to this with a new Gmail address then share it to your main email?

      • +1

Maybe. Then you only need to log in to YouTube with the new email address

        • +1

Yeah was hoping to keep all my subs/history/etc on my main. Should still work, just manage premium through new address and add existing to it as a family member I assume

          • @shiprekt: Did this method work ??

            • @CabSav: Not sure I'm still getting the in a different country error. I used a spare email to sign up to YouTube and didn't have a payment method on my main. Trying now with some of the suggestions further in the thread.

      • +1

        that's what I did

        • Did you have to accept the invitation whilst on VPN?

          • @shiprekt: yep. Wasn't sure if it would work otherwise so I reckon its best to just stay on VPN till everything is done

  • Any similar hacks for Disney Plus?

    • +9

I believe Malaysia is the cheapest, but you need a Malaysian number to Verify. Also possibly indo.

Actually after looking around, Turkey Disney+ is coming in a few weeks, they have a pre-rego deal for ~$24/yr flick on a Turkish VPN & goto Disney plus.

      https://www.preview.disneyplus.com/en-tr

      • Anyone done this? We need more info on how to get it for a decent price :)

      • +1

Hotstar from India is even better with $25 you also get most of Binge library and Disney plus but has the same catch of needing an Indian mobile number

        • But u need to be on vpn to watch too

          • @drbunny: yes, that right. You need to VPN to India, to watch on Disney/Hotstar.

      • There's also a shared account you can get with 1000s on users for $2.50USD total for 6 months for Disney plus. Won't post link but yeah there's heaps of hacks out there, just need to find them

        • Can you please provide me a little more of a hint? In DMs if you can't say here? I've been trying to get a cheap Disney+ for a while now…

      • Do you need to be connected to a VPN to watch?

        • +1

          Dunno sorry

          • @M00Cow: No worries, I can't get sign-up to work (tried different VPNs and browsers) keeps asking me to 'please select a subscription' but there's no subscription to choose

    • https://www.gamsgo.com/ USD2.31 Disney Plus shared account.

      • Hi, have you tried this gamsgo yourself? does it work and safe to use? looking for disney+ membership for my kid..pls advise. Thanks

  • +3

What other vpn related subscriptions are worthwhile/easily obtainable? This, Spotify, gamepass. Is there a forum post where these all are?

    • I’d like to know if there’s a workaround for Spotify

      • Yes, you can get a modified apk for Spotify.

    • Yeah I wanna know if there is some for Apple music or anything else?

    • Spotify?? How??

    • +2

I do google one from turkey, around $23 for 2tb per year, really good for google photos.

I know spotify has been a bit more complicated, i tried signing up from the Philippines but could never work around their security checks.

I'm also using Netflix from Brazil to save a few dollars

      • Do you know how you did the Google one from Turkey? I currently had the 100gb for around $24 but wanted to change it to Turkey so I changed it monthly first and cancelled it and tried to re-subscribe it, it still shows the AUD pricing. At first it shows the turkey pricing but once logged into account it shows AUD pricing.
