YouTube Premium via Argentina: ARS $119/Month (Single ~A$1.38/Month, Family ~A$2.07/Month, VPN Required only to Register)

7460

Resharing after 6 months for those unaware of the workaround to get YouTube Premium at a fraction of the normal price (with credit to HiDave for the original find). It's also around $0.27 cheaper per month now. Personally been using this for over 2 years and works flawlessly with 28 Degrees MasterCard (no fees). Stay safe, and enjoy :)

Very straightforward process:

  1. Use a VPN to connect to an Argentinian server (required only for registration).
  2. Open an incognito browser window.
  3. Sign up via the main link in this post (or here).
  4. If an Argentinian address is requested, use this link and Google the postcode.
  5. Pay with a card that has no foreign exchange fees.
  6. Enjoy the full benefits of YouTube Premium.

          • @Spending2Much: I haven't tried this hack yet so I'm at the start of my free youtube trial. It gives me the option to use google play credit after the trial. But I'm not sure how that'll work after signing up for Argentina because you would then be getting that through an Argentinian Google account right? My google credit is only valid in my australian google account

  • Does anyone else get the error that says 'Youtube premium is not available in your country'? Using surfshark VPN and it's coming up as being in Argentina when I test it.

    • It didn't work for me too. Surfshark argentina's server is virtual, not actually based in argentina.

      Try Urban Free VPN Proxy.

      • Thank you babycakes.

  • I'm wondering what i'm doing wrong, I'm unabel to proccess the payment useing WISE card, getting an error "Your request failed. Contact us. Learn more [OR-CCSEH-24]"

    • As noted before - turned off the VPN for the payment time and everything worked well.

  • India method - no card was working anymore, so trying to use the Argentina method but it's showing me USD pricing now when trying to sign up. Anyone else?

    • It might be an issue with your VPN. For me, couldn't get Windscribe to work for Argentina so signed up for Turkey.

      • How much per month for that, my Turkish cousin?

        • I'm on the family subscription and that's TRY25.99 per month. This month, that was $2.13.

    • What VPN are you using ? Check then ip

    • Try Turkey, it works for me!
I tried India and Argentina, but both were failed.

  • So i have to chznge my google address to Argentina. Then subscribe. Once ok can i change my address back to the Australian one again?

  • I got the family plan but didn’t invite any one. If I invite anyone who is in Aus and USA, will it work for them ?

    • +1

I had to create a manager account via vpn, then login to manager without vpn
      Invite aussie family members
      Accept invites
log back into manager with vpn, check family list, then go to /premium and sign up with Arg address at payment section.
They all have Premium now, but im on the free month. Hopefully payment processes.

      • Since I already signed up for family plan and didn't invite anyone yet, i'm not sure if I invite them my acc would get ban ?

        • I did that.
I closed the family plan account and created a new one.

          • @Awsam: I have already join two different family groups in this year, according to YT one can only be in two groups per year :(

  • Still works for YouTube premium Argentina from Australia. Just used VPN to upgrade then turned off and used Mastercard to purchase.

This worked great for me thanks so much for sharing

Quick summary for families with existing normal (AU) gmail accounts etc. here's what i did, and here's what i found:

    • in an incognito chrome window, created a burner gmail account (no VPN or anything yet)
    • in an incognito chrome window, created my 'family' on families.google.com using the burner gmail account as the family manager (no VPN or anything yet)
    • all family members accepted the invite to join the family group (no vpn or anything yet)
    • closed all tabs and cleared history (don't think it matters given incognito anyway, but i did it all the same as took 2 seconds) and started new tabs.
    • logged onto Argentina VPN through tunnelbear (free).
    • went to https://www.youtube.com/premium and it automatically brought up the argentinian pricing when i selected family plan (still on vpn)
    • signed up using argentina address generator listed in the original post, and paid using my WISE card - the digital card details worked just fine (still on vpn), didnt need to change my billing address through wise.
    • youtube premium showed up straight away. watched a video for a couple of seconds to activate it (still on vpn) - not sure if necessary but read that step above so thought why not.
    • closed all incognito windows, cleared history again, logged off vpn
    • went back into my actual normal youtube account, showed youtube premium (and for everyone else)

    • Youtube premium works for everyone now, which is brilliant.

    • i went to add an extra family member later on (after going back into vpn first and logging back into the burner account etc), and it recognised that the new family member i tried to add was in a different country. i guess cause the argentinian payment profile was already created. so my tip is to just add everyone to the google family first. that person doesn't really youtube much so i just left them off and didn't bother changing something that was already working.

    • i also noticed in google play store today (in my mobile), that when i searched for an app it didnt come up and was coming up with argentian results. this was strange as in my play settings it says my profile is au etc.

    • all my google play app updates etc still work though so its fine

    • i googled the app i was looking for in chrome and it automatically took me to the google play link, which installed just fine through the chrome link, so i guess that's just the workaround needed now (search for apps in chrome if they don't come up in play store and just install that way instead. seems worth it for getting something for under $2 a month as opposed to $18

anyway hope this helps, love having no ads as we use youtube a lot, and youtube music is actually really awesome. downloading things will be handy occasionally too.

    thanks again for sharing.

    • +1

Thanks for the comprehensive walk through
I plan to do this next month once my free trial expires.

      • no worries, and nice good luck!

        • Thank you for the detailed explanation.
I used my own account as a family manager and signed up, now on a free trail and working fine for me.
I didn't invite anyone yet, how can I do it now if YT recognises them as they are in a different country.

If they set VPN to Argentina- will it work ?

          • @73sam: my family members set VPN to Argentina- it didnt work!
got an error saying invitation is malformed (something like that)

    • Thanks for the details, good report
Do we need a WISE card?
Could I use prepaid Coles MasterCard or regular card?

    • Thanks ErlichBachman - worked like a charm!

  • is this the cheapest ? compare with india, turkey and others?

  • would it be wise if previously i was with premium india for 2 years and now joining premium argentina? or best is to use new burner gmail email?

    • +1

I moved from India to turkey a while back without any issues, they even gave me a partial refund!

  • I’ve had a Turkish account for some time now. I’m still getting suggestions for a lot of Turkish music and content in the YouTube music app, even this I believe everything is set to Australia. Anyone have this issue or a workaround? Regular YouTube app is fine.

    • hmm not with me. i remember just in the first few days i got indian recommendations then changed eventually once i start playing my fav. mix.

    • it has something to do with payment profile, check the comments. Someone has same issue and got it fixed by doing soething in payment profile.

  • To be eligible to share a YouTube family membership, each family members must live at the same residential address as the family manager. Every 30 days, an electronic check-in will confirm this requirement.

How does this electronic check in works ?

    • well they check if all the address are the same? easy i think? means whats on their database. not checking physical.
if not the same they will send warning.
      i got one before

      • Ok I thought they look up the IP address 😂

  • Hi, can anyone please help? I followed the directions step by step. I turn on my VPN set it to Argentina. I open the YTP link via chrome incognito but it still only offers the 11.99pound price.

    • What vpn do you use ? Use tunnel bear.

  • Just wondering if it would be too much effort to change to let pro lapse, change county from Argentina to Australia, change to family plan (currently can't even see that option), add members to then pay for pro again with VPN? May not be worth messing with it and just open another one? Cheers

  • Does this violate any Google policies and if so which one(s)?

    Best regards,
    The YouTube Premium Team

    • Yeah i got the AR389.00 wonder why others had a higher increase?

Disappointing. Wonder how/if this will translate to the real AUD subscribers?! Double that too??

      • +1

Translates to around AUD $4. Still very reasonable (all things considered), so don’t think I’ll be cancelling. Could never return to the standard version with ads.

        • +1

Agreed TA, can't stand the (sometimes inappropriate for kids) ad interruptions so will stay on for now.

        • Same. $1.30 to $4 isn't that bad considering it's still $15 here in Australia. Will stick with it for now.

          • +2

@adrianhughes1998: Same, still a pretty rude increase (especially for those living there), like everything else at the moment.

If the price gouging wasn't so bad in Aus people would probably pay up to 10/month but closer to $20 isn't worth it.

            • @G-rig: Very true, and is it really required you know - Google has billions under their belt or are they just using everything else like folks did with covid - as an excuse to hike prices

      • +2

        699 is for family accounts.

  • We created YouTube Premium to provide an uninterrupted YouTube experience, so that you can get closer to the videos, creators and music artists that you love. To continue delivering great service and features, we will be increasing your Premium family plan price from ARS 179.00/month to ARS 699.00/month.

People are getting different message/amount, I reckon they just say 'you are actually outside of Argentina, we will now charge you more'.

    • +5

Some people are subscribed to individual accounts (119 -> 389), some to family accounts (179 -> 699).

  • +1

    300% increase does seem absurd

  • Will have to mark this deal as expired soon, just got an email also:

we will be increasing your Premium price from ARS 119.00/month to ARS 389.00/month.
This change will take place on your next billing cycle starting on or after 21 November 2022.

No one is missing us for increases lately. Suppose they are aware that most other countries are taking advantage of the cheap exchange rates.

  • Received an email this morning that my ARS119 subscription will be updated to ARS 389 from Nov 21. That sucks.

What now, wondering if there better foreign deals

  • +1

    Is anyone other country cheaper?

  • -1

Turkey or India are similar priced now. Unless they have changed these price increases too.

    Argentina - 119 ARS - $2.07
    Turkey 16.99 TRY $1.46
    India 129 INR $2.48
    Ukraine 99 UAH $4.27

    • +3

      Argentina is now 389ars

    • Turkey showing TRY29.99 for individual and TRY59.99 for family

      • Hmm maybe check after nov 21?

  • +1

What will be the cheapest country to subscribe after 21st Nov?

    • -3

      Read above

      • What about for family accounts?

        • +1

India is the cheapest at ~$3.60 but I couldn't get it to accept my Up Card. Instead I settled with Turkey for ~$5.05.

  • HERE IS MINE! we will be increasing your Premium family plan price from ARS 179.00/month to ARS 699.00/month. ( 7 aud )

  • +2

Gotta love ozbargain, we're all up in arms. What a jump in price for family, that's crazy, seriously they would lose genuine customers in Argentina. We will have to wait and see what the best family value plan will be and 'move' there.

Seems price rises across the board (and $5 usd)… they are trialling 4k streaming. https://www.google.com/amp/s/9to5google.com/2022/10/20/youtu…

  • +3

    I will leave this here

(In Aus) YouTube Premium subscription costs $14.99 a month. There's also a Family Plan available at $22.99 a month for up to 6 family members (yourself included). And a Student Plan which costs $8.99 a month.

    • This. $4 is still very cheap compared to getting it locally here in Australia. I'll be sticking with it for now.

  • All good things come to an end…

    “ Hi Parker,

    • That's weird mine jumped to 699 ARS/month. Still cheaper that Aussie YouTube but getting a bit high.

      • +3

        ^Family price.,

        • Ah, thanks for confirming.

  • Sad morning

we will be increasing your Premium family plan price from ARS 179.00/month to ARS 699.00/month

    & no powerball

  • Whats the free alternatives again?
For windows i use brave browser.
For google tv i have sideloaded smarttube

Only missing for the android phone and
google nest hub - the one with screen (not sure if possibile)
(I prefer one i can login so all subscribers are sync)

    Cheers

    • Under the impression those options may be removed soon with YouTube changes next year if a video I watched recently is to be believed.

  • Still absolutely worth it.

Ive got both parents on individual and likewise me. Was worried about setting it up as family. Maybe I should look into it.

    • why not, you all are family… or just create new google account for everyone

      • Not sharing each other's recommendations. Got my daughter and wife but both won't use much too atm.

Im under the impression it was fiddly to set up

  • We moving to Turkey?

    • im already in India

      • How's weather there?

edit: Blugok got in first higher up.

I just got this email from YouTube saying that the price is going up (a bit).
