    • Huh same as mine, guess it's not unique?

  • +23

Good price but crazy that 40% off only drops it to 300 bucks

Shows how much this has gone up since covid.

    • +5

i think the going 'must buy price' even going back as far as June 2018 was still about $288 .

    • +1

Yeah. There's some flight sim joysticks that double in price during covid. Sales now are still above average retail 2, 3 years ago.

    • Yeah got mine a few years back now around the 279-300 mark if I recall.

    • Think this is back to regular sale price. Did go for $249 last September (though this has already more than doubled the votes despite being $50 more.)

Got one in the Amazon $270 deal but sadly made me realise that was back in 2020 and how little I've used it since then. Ah well, they did refund $50 though since it didn't include the Shifter like the listing said (but nothing on the 50% refund someone else got).

Already have a G29. First in:

Bought for Xbox Series X. $299 click & collect. happy day

    • +11

and collected.. was not planning on buying that today.. lol oops

  • +2

That was quick posting lol, I received the email at 11.51am and it’s already on OzB

    • +1

i still reckon i am slow at posting - should see the speed some of the ebay deals get posted.

      • Its because you can pre-scout them by store haha
        Definitely impressive posting speed

  • +4

Yes code is not unique, thanks to mod who fixed it.

Weird how something like this is a generic code but a crap review projector trying to be sold as an exclusive special for jb members (Philips Neopix Prime2 Home Projector) was all unique codes lol.

Both work on PC but each only work on their respective consoles.

    • +4

A real PITA for anyone that has both consoles

      • +5

This feels like Scrooge McDuck crying that he has to sort his money pools by denomination.

I used to have a G29 and it's a great starter wheel but I wouldn't go back to it. I'm looking to get a new wheel but I'm clenching cheeks for the T300RS or similar to go on sale.

    • +1

T300RS GT version on gamesman eBay 20/22% off till the 26th June got mine for $570 delived TX (xbox) version also same price, price jacked a little over other places but still a good wheel at the price., 248 and also the shifter available with discounts

      • $585.56 on the regular 20%. You are a legend. Definitely not worth it at its regular $699.

The wheel itself is a good price. Adding peripherals from the same place is definitely steeper than elsewhere

        • +1

Waiting for TGT2 to drop down in price. Tried the Logitech but not same response/feel

          • @Sydgun: The wheel and pedals are $1050
            Is it worth the investment?
Do you drive better or is it just more enjoyable?

            • +2

@maverickjohn: At that price you’re better off going a Fanatec csl dd kit imo. That middle ground isn’t worth it at that price and you will actually get decent resale value as opposed to paying people to buy your thrustmaster kit. 😂

    • +2

If you're serious enough you should skip belt tech and go straight to direct drive

      • Just need something smoother than the gear driven FFB. G29 was fun as a starter but very toy like

    • +1

Definitely hold out for the T300RS GT package, if you can snag it for anything under $600 it's worth grabbing.

I added the H shifter as well and got some mods from here https://nolitto3d.com/products/clixbeetle-pro to make everything feel a bit chunkier and driving in GT7 is just sublime, I can feel exactly when the tail is about to slide out now.

      • +1

Thanks. If a better deal than the one above doesn't drop in the next few days I'm going to pull the trigger. It is 585.56 for the GT version

  • +13

    Great price for brand new.

These were crazy expensive and hard to find in 2020. Managed to get a mint used one with receipt a year ago for $220, used it a few times and it's been sitting in the box ever since. Always worth looking at used for this sort of thing as they're quite cumbersome to have set up without a dedicated space for them which leads to many people getting rid of them.

    • +11

You made me control my impulse. Not buying it now!!

      • +4

but what if you miss out ?! Go on mate u deserve it!

        • Sure do, just like any other deal on this website :)

    • DAMN YOU!

I was looking forward to buying this.

This OzBargain, the land of buying cheap - just in case!

  • Waiting this for a while. Thanks

  • Any coupon for the G923?

  • This or the Thrustmaster Ferrari SF1000 for F1 racing?

    • The SF1000 is just the rim, doesnt come with a base or pedals. Its also twice the price of the G920/G29.

  • What racing rigs does everyone have?

  • Thanks OP. Been keeping my eye for a deal and picked one up.

  • Been interested in this wheel for a while. Would it be a bad idea to mount this to a desk? Or will it shake too much?

    • Its fine if you have a sturdy desk

      • +5

Yeah. Anything ikea etc is going to flop around like a 15 year old who just discovered warm apple pie.

    • Depends if it's shared with a keyboard/mouse combo. I found it got in the way

    • Definitely doesn't shake as this is at the lower end of the force feedback bases. But needs to be mounted to a desk that doesn't move.

  • +2

I was able to price match JBHIFI through online chat with https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/logitech-g29-ps4-driving-forc… for $274 last month, but I didn't end up buying it.

    • interesting as they're all the same group now but good to note.

    • wait… cheaper on TGG?

  • Thanks OP, copped one.

  • Cheers OP. Been waiting ages for a deal. Just picked one up for ps4/5.

  • Been waiting for the g920 at this price. Got one, thanks!

  • Great deal but Facebook marketplace and gumtree are flooded with wheels that have been used only once or twice.

    • +3

i think unless it was like…low $200's id rather just buy new for warranty sake but yeah as comments above said it's quite common to see these as you kinda do need a dedicated place to set it up.

    • +4

that sound like me, I'm probably going to buy this, use it once and never touch it

      • +2

Mate if you’re having second thoughts tell yourself it’s good for the economy.

        • But bad for inflation and therefore bad for interest rates

    • But how would you know if those wheels weren't wrecked by some crazy gamer who mistreated their wheel??

  • Sigh I'm trying my best to hold out for rhe 923.
I currently have the 920 but it's useless as I've switched to playstation

    • +2

The 923 isn't worth the hold out. It's barely "better". True better is anything belt drive and best is direct drive (but you pay for it).

      • Yep, if money wasnt an issue i wouldnt really be holding out for the sale. Sadly just waiting for something around this price.
Reason i am not going g29 is because well i would like to "upgrade from my 920"

    • It's the same wheel…

  • +1

Can someone please suggest few Racing Seats to go with this?

I hear Playseat Challenge Racing Seat as one. Are there other recommendations?

    • Playseat would be the best for small footprint and easy fold.

The NLR GT or F-GT lite seems to be a direct competitor but it takes a lot more time to set-up each time. But you can have a lot more adjustments

      • Are there any other foldable alternatives? Just trying to evaluate the options here. Missus would be bugged if it takes too much space so looking for foldable one

        • +1

I think these two are probably the ones that comes with a chair. Otherwise, you might need to look at the wheel stands without chairs.

I've got the Wheel stand Pro and it's annoying to use as it keeps moving around. For what it's worth and footprint, I'd highly rate the Playseat challenge, being light and takes up minimal space.

    • I've got my g920 attached to this which works well.

Pretty sure its the lowest its been

Thanks for the deal. I combined the egift card deal for extra 7.5% off via reward gateway

I personally scrapped the shifter, found it to be too flimsy and cheap feeling for my liking. I stuck with the paddles instead and found them more responsive.

I use a cheap VEVOR branded stand, I found the shifter attachment was too close to my knee but as I scrapped the shifter it wasn't an issue eventually. Overall the stand was extremely cheap compared to other brands but I found the quality of it to be very durable with minimal movement. Think I paid $90 posted via eBay?

Make sure it's something you use! Mine gets used once every few weeks but otherwise just gets used to hang up my work jacket etc.

    • +1

      hang up my work jacket

Sounds like half my gym equipment :D

    • Hey, I bought VEVOR brand stand following your comment :) and it looks great. But the shifter part was missing with the package. If you don't mind can I take the shifter part from you? (if you live in Sydney though)

  • I don't have PS or XBox. Which version G29/G920 should I buy? G29 looks more fancy, with rev indicator on top.

    • G29 has more buttons plus rev indicator and is PC compatible. Identical internals

    • bought XBox version. Searched online and it seems XBox has more racing games.

      Thanks Op.

      • Didn't you say you don't have an Xbox?

        • I don't. And I don't know which console I'll buy in the future, but Xbox seems a better potential choice.
