does it apply for existing customers ?

    • Good question

    • All of the deals from Quickflix that I have seen have explicitly said new customers only, and this one is the same.

      Valid for new customers only

In addition, during signing up there has been a declaration requested that nobody else in the household has had an introductory offer before.

  • thanks bought one, excellent bargain.

    • which dvd did you choose?

      • I chose Bruno.

Looks like the deal will commence on the 30th. Good deal.

  • Don't forget Quckflix frequently have codes with 2 weeks to 2 months free. At the moment, you can get three weeks for free (see below link):

    http://www.thebargainavenue.com.au/interests/entertainment/c…

Essentially you are paying $5 to get a DVD and an extra two week subscription. $5 is a good price for the DVD if there is one you are interested in(I would recommend Kick Ass myself), but if not, a free membership offer for a longer period may come up later.

    The Fine Print:

Credit card will not be charged unless you do not opt-out of offer at the end of 5 weeks, at which point you will be swapped to a plan.

So make sure you opt out at the end of 5 weeks.

I'm not interested in the service, but if anyone wants to have the 5 weeks and doesn't want the DVD, i'd happily buy Curious George off you for the $5, therefore giving you the 5 weeks for nothing :)

My daughter loves that crazy monkey and his adventures (Plus, I also actually really, really enjoy the show. It's a great kids show :D)

no deal, they ask for your credit card details…

  • this one may be better offer ,they don't ask racv details
    http://www.quickflix.com.au/racv

  • You pay $5 - that's not exactly free.

  • Anyone sign up yet? I just did but didnt see anything about them sending me my free DVD. Do they just send the one out I selected when paying the $5 on Scoopon?

    • You will be sent the DVD that you initially selected, after you receive your first DVD / Blu-ray from Quickflix in the mail.

"Scoopon must be activated and at least 1 DVD must be ordered to receive bonus DVD"

"7. Eligibility for free DVD occurs when customer has registered and started their trial with Quickflix before 30th June 2012 and customer has received a Quickflix rental DVD or Blu-ray by mail."

  • Just used mine. Didn't see the DVD we chose when first buying the scoopon either. Think it will be sent based off the initial purchase.

Looks like a good system. Just queued 10 movies up for delivery, seems pretty simply. Looking forward to checking out the on demand stuff on Ps3 tonight.

  • I added 13 movies to my queue last night, the first two movies in my queue apparently shipped today (X-Men 2 and Cedar Rapids, they are both quick picks).

  • Just got a email saying they have sent out my 2 rental DVDs hope my Free DVD comes with them. Wonder if it will come in a case or just the disc?

    • +1

I received my first two rentals today, they unfortunately did not come with the free DVD. I'll give them a week before contacting them about it.

    • You'll receive the full case. However, they fulfill it as it suits them. I received mine towards the end of the introductory period. Don't expect it earlier and you wont be disappointed.

  • Anyone got their free movie yet???

    • Nope, still nothing..

      • nothing my end either!!! RIPPED!!!

        • No, you are impatient. There was no delivery timeline indicated on the free DVD.

Let me give you a better indication.
The offer says "Scoopon valid for activation to 30 June 2012"
and "Scoopon must be activated and at least 1 DVD must be ordered to receive bonus DVD".
So, they must wait until at least then before fulfilment can commence.
Doing them piecemeal would be a costly process to track.

  • I just got a email back from them -

To qualify for this free DVD you must be a member for 45 days as of yet you have only been a member for 15 days. If you have any further questions about this promotion feel free to give us a call.

    • Well, that is interesting.
Your trial period (5x7=35) is not longer than 45 days!

I'm pretty sure you'll get it as per above timeframe. Which may end up being after 45 days after 30 June.
A friend got the freebie 'This Is It' after they'd cancelled at the end of the intro period.

      • Yer I will be cancelling just before it goes onto payment so hopefully it comes

        • Still havent got mine

  • Is anyone else waiting to receive their 'free' DVD? I just cancelled my account the other day, not hopeful that it is going to arrive. Might follow up with them about it.

  • I have inquired about this free DVD. Here is the response on 11/08/12;

    Thank you for your email.

'In regards to your inquiry, you have successfully signed up through the Scoopon offer and hence successfully registered for the complimentary DVD to keep.

We are still awaiting to the stock of these DVDs to come in.

If we can be of further assistance, please contact us.

    Kind regards,

    Tristan.'

As such I have sent a further email today giving them 14 days before I lodge complaint with ACCC. I have also forwarded a complaint with Scoopon. They should take some responsibility and look into this. And Quickflix had the nerve to call me and ask why I wasn't renewing. I told them that not only was the choice of DVDs not there, but they couldn't even send me my free DVD. Guy couldn't get off the phone quick enough.

    • I could understand having to wait a month for the DVD, though 3 months is taking the piss.. all of the DVDs can be purchased online for around $10, and in bulk for probably half that amount.

Whilst I don't want to waste a lot of my time getting wound up about what is essentially a $10 DVD, I think that Quickflix needs to be held accountable for their actions. I might threaten to go to the ACCC as well.

  • Sent them an email yesterday and they were nice enough to give me a call today. They said that there was a backlog due to the promotion, and that they had had to order in more DVDs. Will roughly take 2 weeks.

  • Haven't bothered to respond to my email yet. Certainly don't think too much of the company.
