  • All Harvey Normans? Where's this ad from?

    • Have to assume this is at least in one Melbourne store. OP, which store is the ad for?

      • In Melbourne Herald Sun, no store restrictions that I can see. But it only lists Melbourne stores.

    • Update: looks like this is on nation wide, I didn't see the ad myself but its on in selected stores in NSW and Brisbane.

If you're reading this today, Saturday (even after 11am) go to a store now and see, staff may just let you do it anyway if you say it's in the paper and/or show them the scan from OP. Good luck to all ;)

  • Just to be clear you do mean Saturday correct?

    • Yes. Saturday and 1 hr only

  • Any limit on how many cards we can buy ?

    • As the ad says "Limit one deal per customer"

  • +1

Only applies to the $20 card. Looks like its only for 2 cards in total ( 1 card + 1 free card ). If it was unlimited I'm sure the first person in line would purchase the stores entire stock.

  • +3

I guess, like most times, they'll just remove those items from display. I remember when the 16GB USB sticks where on sale, went in before the sale and got it cheap. Came back to get more and they had removed all stock.

  • +3

Go in when they open and take em off the shelves before they can. Then just hang around until 10am and hit the register. I'm sure between the demos on the big screen Tv's and the nespresso machine samples the time will fly by.

    • +10

Not sure if it's worth wasting all that time on Sat for 1 $20 iTunes card.

      • +1

You mean 2 cards, not 1.

Turns out 2 cards is exactly what I wanted to get… cheaper than the $30 from JB!

      • I'm with you on this one. Savings is like $10 as you can quite often get the 2x20 cards for $30 at most places. Good deal for those willing to make the effort and face possible disappointment as there will likely be no stock.

    • -5

if there's no $20 vouchers on display, acquire some cards from a different retail chain (unactivated), then take them to HN for activation.

      • I wonder if that would work.

      • +6

By Acquire you actually mean steal right?

        • -8

inactivated itunes card have no value and are supplied by Apple for display (and subsequent purchase).
I don't see it as stealing. You might, but I don't.

        • +2

Wouldnt that screw up their system? ie. their system says there should be 100 of those cards, but for some odd reason, there's only 2. Im sure if you're the manager/owner of the store, you would be pretty pissed off.

        • +4

so will you be letting the other store know that you will be taking them out with you?

you might not consider it stealing, but maybe the store you're taking it from might choose to disagree.

        • +3

Stealing is taking any item regardless of its dollar value (or lack of in this case) from a shop without payment.

Taking unactivated cards is no excuse. It is still stealing.

          CRIMINAL CODE 1899 - SECT 391 - http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/qld/consol_act/cc189994/s…

          391 Definition of stealing
          (1) A person who fraudulently takes anything capable of being stolen, or fraudulently converts to the person's own use or to the use of any other person anything capable of being stolen, is said to steal that thing.

The question then becomes can a card of no value be capable of being stolen?

          CRIMINAL CODE 1899 - SECT 390

390 Things capable of being stolen
Anything that is the property of any person is capable of being stolen if it is

          (a) moveable; or
          (b) capable of being made moveable, even if it is made moveable in order to steal it.

So yes it is stealing, however I doubt it would ever make it to trial

  • Did it mention about the SII or Nexus special on the other post?

10-11am: 2-for-1 $20 itunes gift cards, limit 1 deal per customer

1-2pm: 2-for-1 ink, excludes toner, limit 3 sets per customer

    • WOW AWESOME INK!!!

  • If this deal was unlimited and not "one deal" per customer it might be worth the trouble of heading in at that specific time. Very good deal nonetheless.

Is there anywhere likely to price match this?

    • +7

If it was unlimited than no one would get any because some jerk would just buy all the stock to resell. 1 per customer is fair.

      • Yeah I tried to get the Tasmanian 50% deal HN ran a week or so ago, they sold out quickly. They had not limit on sales.

    • Is there anywhere likely to price match this?

be in nunawading at 10am to find out :)

  • Nice deal bet the queues will be long.

Just bought Game of Thrones Season 2 Season Pass $28.99, this will top up my credit nicely.

  • Blah! Thought this was for today.. Only just read the thing properly to find it's for tomorrow!! I'm in QLD soo does anyone know if this is applying for all HN Stores or wha?

    • -3

      its not in QLD :-(

      • +2

So that makes it a bad deal? Hardly neg worthy…

      • noooooooooo :( Why! :(

      • Update: This deal was confirmed (at least in Brisbane stores, dunno about whole of QLD) see below. Ad was in the courier mail today.

        GOOD LUCK GOMO!

        • I never ended up heading in, so Wouldn't know! tho a few days prior to the saturday I emailed them to ask.. and the response I got was

          Hi Nathan,

Thank you for your online enquiry, we currently selling the Itunes Card 2 x $20 vouchers for $30.
Should you wish to purchase them please come and see Lincoln at the Oxley Store and I would be more than happy to assist you.

          Regards

HN is advertising "super Saturday Mania - one day only deals" on the radio in Perth, would love to know if this is going to be here too.

  • +4

The same deal is advertised in today's The Daily Telegraph so NSW is a goer.

    • +6

We're ozbargainers. We NEVER pay full price.

      • +3

Haha, why did thefuzz get negged, i thought this to be quite appropriate! :D

  • Usually they do different deals by state. Most likely this will be just Victoria.

  • bye bye JB. I am going to HN tomorrow!

  • Can we grab the blank $20 itune cards from Woolies and activate it at HN with the buy 1 get 1 free deal?

    • Almost certainly not. The cards are serialised and would be locked to the store.
In my old job I sue to sell phone cards and it's a fairly basic stock management thing to know where cards are and who activating them and who can activate them [ie think if some one stole them from one store to sell from another - which happens]

    • +4

Not a valid reason for a neg. It's advertised in Victoria, not QLD.

      • +2

        agreed!

    • I negged because of your pic. Not because of your neg vote.

  • What's the expiry date like on these cards?

  • Sorry posted on wrong bargain.

  • +1

I see these selling out really fast and there being a lot of unhappy campers on Saturday.

  • People camp hours to what save $20 max. Don't realise if they spent that many hours doing any sort of paid work, they'd earn 5 times as much.

  • +1

Has anyone confirmed if it is Australian wide or just Vic?

    • The ad in today's West for the super Saturday sale does not have any mention of Itunes cards

      • i think it is still worth checking tomorrow West Weekend.

        • me too :D

    • Victoria only.

  • +7

Go into the store tonight, grab a few cards.. hide them in the store and then tomorrow at 10.55 waltz in and buy them…

Ooooo.. to see a lot of unhappy faces in HN would be priceless..

    • Stop copying me ;)

    • Guys, the OP is kind enough to let us know about the deal. Let's not do dodgy stuff. If a person happens to arrive before you, then he/she deserves to get the deal more than you.

      • +1

As far as I'm concerned it's game on! We've ALL been in that situation where someone has done something very underhanded to get in front of you..

        • +3

So you return the favour by doing the same thing to someone else?

  • How much is shipping?

    • Re-read the ad in the link.

  • So bad VIC only but I saw them doing 2 x $20 for $30 at the moment.

  • +4

Do kids and babies count as customers. If they can hold 2 cards and $20 in their hand im dragging them along.

  • I wonder, who takes the loss with these specials, the retailer or Apple? My guess is Apple.

So Apple's cut from app store sales is 30%, but when the cards are on special (eg. 25% off) people stock up. Therefore Apples 30% margin is in fact somewhat less.

    • But it depends on how it works in terms of exchange rates. I wouldn't be surprised if an app that's $0.99 in the US app store and is $1.69 in Australia (I know this is song prices but anyways), the owner would get paid ~$0.70US.

  • +2

Page 29 of the courier mail in Brisbane lists these as for sale.

Buy one get one free from 10am to 11am only. One per person

    • Thanks muchly Dmd, I went and bought mine just now at a Brisbane store and mentioned it was in the paper. The staff had no idea about the promotion but let it through anyway. YMMV

  • +2

It's on like (half-price) Donkey Kong! Bought 4x gift cards for $40 at HN in Brisbane, Valley store (Domayne/HN on Ann st @ Homemaker center). They weren't really aware of the deal but someone checked with someone and did it anyway, 15 minutes early even!

There was no line and only one other guy and his gal with gift cards in hand.

Approx 10 or so $20 cards left on the stand, I made sure to not take them all she probably would have let me ;) Aren't I a good ozbargainer!

  • No limit per customer!!! At qv hv

    • Yeah i rocked up here at 11am on the off chance and they still had stacks. The shop is pretty empty. Bought 4.

  • LOL, card activation machines were temporarily unavailable Sunshine. We were allowed 4 cards for waiting

  • +1

Wow! Just came back from Wonthaggi Harvey Norman with 2x $100 vouchers for $100!!!

  • Lots of cards available… but the queue in the checkout was really long.

Wondering whether they will continue to honour the deal for the rest of the day.

Again… inconsistent policy amongst Harvy Norman stores. Some stores enforce maximum 2 cards per person. Some don't.

  • got 2x$20 cards for $20 :) Limit of 1 per customer at marion SA store

    • Didn't seem to be a limit at Harvey Norman on Port Road. A customer in front of me had 6 cards in his hand. And the person serving me said, "just the two". I'm a fool, I should have bought more.

  • Hn Oxley did one purchase per customer

    Carindale was unlimited. :)

    • dammit! I was under the impression it wasn't going to happen in QLD :(

  • HN Preston in Victoria went well although They still had alot left. However the line to get them activated was horrible and waited 1hr to get it done. Poor lady at the register. She did a good job being patient with the dot matrix printer and one activation terminal!

  • Malaga WA reckons they've sold out thats surprises me due to the amount of other cards they had and the small amount of people instore feels more like they were taken from the shelf before the sale. Love to hear from anyone that got one there. I'm getting sick of these bait advertising non sales.

  • Cannington Harvey Norman WA went through fine :D

    • the promotion is also for WA?

      • Oconner wa had it got myself 2x50 for 50 ;)

        • Pffttt no fair it supposed to be on the 20s only wish the stores would be consistent. Well done :p

      • Yep it sure was! But too late now anyway

        • I am not after the iTunes cards but the ink cartridge

  • Yeah well It was the same paper as the one shown above

  • There was no restriction in my local HN store. People were buying stacks. The staff didnt enforce 1 per customer rule.

    • Rofl @ Gerry =D

  • Got 4x$20 from Munno Para Harveys at about 11:02, the chick who served was nice enough to let it go.

  • +1

I didn't get the iTune cards but managed to buy 1 ink cartridge and got 1 for free. Thanks OP
