Netgear Orbi AX6000 Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 6 System
RBK853-100AUS

Have been looking for a decent 3 pack wifi 6 triband mesh system, was going to get eero 6 pro for $750 but then saw this for $1164.00 and thought it was a great deal so am posting it.

Believe most people should have access to TGGC by now if not search ozbargain how to get one there were a few free ways to do it unsure if it still exists.

First post so let me know if any mistakes

P.s. there are a few other decent deal on there atm on mesh systems if interested.

Believe this is the best mesh system available atm in Australia apart from wifi6e version.

    • Come on Oz members. Let's hear dmfd out, maybe there's some good reasons, backed by evidence for the statement

I mean, the cycle isnt too hard to see. Higher frequency = Faster transmission, but lower range. Solution is to have more access points, so you can get high speed with more coverage. But really, how many of us have internet faster than 100Mbps (thanks FTTN NBN), so 2.4Ghz is perfectly fine for most people, and thus we never really needed to sacrifice range with speed.

        • +9

Internet speed is irrelevant for internal transfers within the same network.

    • Some people must have some big-ass homes.

There's always 1 who goes against the grain.

or little homes/townhouses with full double-brick walls all around and inside, effectively blocking any 5Ghz and throttling 2.4Ghz…

        • Yep, mansion, brick, multi-story and/or sprawling layout seem the main uses cases.

        • We have double brick and coverage is a nightmare.
I just setup a Deco X68 2pk and really happy with the improvement.

I had a 2 bedroom apartment with a tile lined bathroom right in the middle. The second bedroom I used as an office was blocked from my router by said bathroom - I was getting like 10mpbs and file transfers to my server were taking forever.

I upgraded to powerline ethernet over power adapters and was able to increase that to to about 80mbps but still frightfully slow for large file transfers.

Went to an AC2200 Netgear Orbi setup and got 200+ mbps by bouncing around the offending apparently Faraday cage of a bathroom. There are uses, even if they don't apply to you.

  • With that price, I’d choose 1x xiaomi ax9000 ($500) , 2x xiaomi ax6000 ($300) and a few cartons of beers ($350)

For no price would I trust Xiaomi with my network.

  • "P.s. there are a few other decent deal on there atm on mesh systems if interested."

I currently don't have access: anything of note?

      1. The 2pk is $775

      2. Netgear Orbi AX4200 TriBand Mesh WiFi 6 (2 Pack) $519

      • Netgear Orbi AX4200 TriBand Mesh WiFi 6 (2 Pack) $519.. this is the bargain!. Nice..

  • Is there any wifi 6E mesh router available in Australia?
    Should I wait for 6E router ?

    • Just one atm for like $2.5k that has been approved for use in Australia.

But you can get third party unapproved ones which can cause potential problems

    • Go for these Orbis no need for 6e for a few years..

  • OMG, just brought same set from JB Hi-Fi last month, cost $1500.

    $1164

Bugger me that's expensive! Depending on your situ, get the house wired with ethernet for that price, and add cheaper mesh to your wall ports.

  • Insane price…
