Google One Storage Monthly/Yearly 100GB (A$0.50/$5.02) 200GB (A$1.00/$10.04) 2TB (A$2.51/$25.11) @ Google Turkey (VPN Required)

Reposting this deal from 2021, credits to the original poster @Pricebeat and @neo479

Due to the significant change in currency exchange rates, prices are now around 50% lower than last year. I've done the currency conversions from Turkish Lira to Australian Dollars and the percentage of savings so you don't have to :)

Storage Monthly Cost (% Savings) Yearly Cost (% Savings)
100 GB AUD $0.50 (80% off AUD RRP) AUD $5.02 (80% off AUD RRP)
200 GB AUD $1.00 (77% off AUD RRP) AUD $10.04 (77% off AUD RRP)
2 TB AUD $2.51 (80% off AUD RRP) AUD $25.11 (80% off AUD RRP)
5 TB AUD $12.58 AUD $125.78
10 TB AUD $25.15 N/A
20 TB AUD $50.30 N/A
30 TB AUD $75.45 N/A

I remember doing this on an iPhone a few months back (as I don't have an android). So I'm guessing the device does not matter. I just resubscribed today to a new plan, on a PC. So here's my experience, and it took literally minutes.

Step 1: Change your Google payment profile to Turkey. If needed, use a fake address simulator like this one

Step 2: VPN (fly) to Turkey using the deal link above (I used the free Windscribe Chrome extension; although it was a bit tricky since Windscribe kept connecting me to random Turkey locations - in this case just disconnect and reconnect until you land on Istanbul or something, or use a different VPN. Nord VPN does not work). if the currency is shown in Turkish Lira, you've hit the jackpot

Step 3: Subscribe to the plan of your choice. Use a credit/debit card (preferedly with no international fees)

Step 4: Fly back home

EDIT 2:27 AM: After serious testing I've found the following:

  1. Regards to AussieMark's comment here

    • I just did some testing and it looks like you can share your Google One with family members - IT'S POSSIBLE! The only catch is you have to add the family members / accounts into the family first, before taking one of the accounts and subscribing through this deal. TO ADD FAMILY MEMBERS GO TO https://families.google.com/families

  2. For those who currently have Youtube Premium from Argentina, and want to sign up to this deal on top on the Google account - IT'S POSSIBLE, simply create a new payment profile for Turkey

    • If pricing initially shows Turkish but switches back to AUD, try this method: You might see the 3 columns show Australian pricing, but select the 2tb and go to next screen and check it changes to TRY currency. if this doesn't work, then I think you have to delete the Australian payment profile. You can always make a new one after, but be aware that deleting your Australian profile will destroy all your Google Play Credits
    • You can create a new payment profile by following these steps by alcheron: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the Turkish profile.

Hope this helps!

EDIT 12:00 PM: You need to turn on family sharing after signing up to this plan to actually share the storage. To do this, go to the Google One site and click on the Gear settings icon (alternatively click on this link, then go to "Manage Family Settings" and toggle it on. This step assumes you've sared it with other members before signing up to this plan, as you cannot add family members anymore after if their account locations are not in the same country

Please note the process can be easy for some people, harder for others, or may not work at all. Copying some notes from @bargainsgrabber

  • There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:
    • Modem reset for faster internet,
    • Cash back program purchase tracking,
    • Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
    • Targeted bargains, and
    • Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
  • Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up to Netflix Turkey or Argentina. After all it is intended for people who reside in Turkey or Argentina. If it does not work, I am not affiliated with any of the entities listed below or linked to and cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only read comments on this platform and others to share them with you. Your patience is appreciated. Please do not take it personally.

  • Does this increase your gmail storage limit?

    • yes :)

      • Ok. Reading about the possibility of termination of account gets me very nervous..

        • make a storage account, link it with your other accounts under family. sign up with the storage account. i suppose if the main account gets banned you could access data from the other linked accounts?

          • @kehuehue: You can't see other people's data unless you actually share them together using the sharing permissions. Doubt it'll get banned tho

  • Comment from Pizdets

even if it comes up with Australian pricing, you go to purchase and it changes to TRY

It could be possible that even if it shows AUD, you can click through and it might change to TRY, without deleting Australian profile (or maybe you have to delete it)? I don't want to test anymore since I have other things to do, but interesting point.

  • All my cards (both visa and amex) are rejected by Google Pay. I can't even save them with any of the new Google accounts. May I know which cards actually successfully stored and paid with Google Pay?

  • Hi Guys,

Any pointers for who have existing Google One Storage account, I got 100GB and already used 50% of it.

Is there a way to upgrade it to 2TB ? or Cancelling existing one and get new 2 TB one?

I would appreciate any help on it.

    • I just upgraded mine from 100GB to 2TB, didn't lose any data.

      • +1

can you please help me with steps:

        1) Add Turkey payment profile
        2) Delete Aus payment profile
        3) vpn to turkey
        4) Upgrade to 2TB
        5) Add Aus payment profile (if needed) ?

        is this look OK?

        • +3

You may not have to delete the aus payment profile.
It would be good if you can test for us.

          So do steps
          1) Add Turkey payment profile
          2) vpn to turkey
          3) Upgrade to 2TB
          4) pay with exisitng

EDIT: You might see the 3 columns show Australian pricing, but select the 2tb and go to next screen and check it changes to TRY currency.

          • @Pizdets: its keep showing me in AUD (in next screen too), do I have to cancel exiting subscription ?

Or will keep trying with different vpn.

            • +2

@HarleyRider: Yeah I guess you might have to delete existing payment profile.
Just check your vpn points to turkey with https://whatismyipaddress.com/

              • +10

                @Pizdets: Thanks mate, finally working…

                My situation:
=> Already had 100 GB plan and wanted to upgrade to 2 TB plan
=> Was sharing 100 GB plan with family group.
=> Don't want to change primary Gmail account and AU payment profile

                1) I had spare "Gmail" account, going forward I will be using it for overseas purchase like Google One, Disney +
                2) Added spare Gmail account to Family group ( using primary Gmail account )
                3) Added Turkey payment profile on spare Gmail account.
                4) Using VPN got 2TB plan on spare Gmail account.
                5) Stopped sharing Google One plan with family from primary Gmail account
Google One (app) => Settings (gear icon) => Manage Family Settings => OFF - Share Google One with your family
                6) Started sharing Google One plan with family from spare Gmail account
Google One (app) => Settings (gear icon) => Manage Family Settings => ON - Share Google One with your family
                7) Now I can see 2 TB shared on my Primary Gmail account.
                8) Cancelled 100 GB plan on Primary account.

Hope this may help someone who is in same boat…

                Happy bargaining guys..

                • @HarleyRider: I managed to get the plan from above steps.

The diff was I never had any plan on my primary account. Instead I had payment profile from Argentina for Youtube Premium. I managed to keep everything.

                • @HarleyRider: Didn't work for me. I can't add the spare email to my family group saying the account is in a different country.

                • @HarleyRider: I was able to add it to my spare account but cant find the setting to turn off "Share Google One with your family" on my android app..

EDIT: Actually all I did was go onto the app and "Share Google One with your family" and it shared it with my main account that wasn't yet a Google One account.

                • @HarleyRider: Thanks for the steps.

I tried this with a spare account - added it to my family, then connect to VPN and go to the spare account to add 2TB but it comes up with a message saying "Talk to your plan manager"

Not sure if I've missed something. My situation is exactly the same as you - existing 100gb family plan….

                  • @stratbargain: same.. got msg "Talk to your plan manager" when I wanted to purchase 2TB from the spare (Turkey) account.
                    Any workaround?

  • Make sure you don't delete your Australian profile if you have a Google Play Balance left on it otherwise you lose that balance even if you create another new payment profile later

    • Afterr deleting the Australian profile, i worked for me. Thanks!

  • +1

This is useless and doesn't work. You can't join more then 1 family group and you can't join if you're in different countries. To change country profile you have to wait a year after changing it and you can't change back for another year. You will also lose any app purchases and subscriptions if you delete your country profile.

    • Well you can make a new account, make it a family manager and join other accounts to that? Havent tried it myself.

      • Yup, I tried that yesterday! Defs works

        • But need to have both accounts set to Turkey?

        • can you elaborate on this? Can I delete my current family and make one with a new account (as a family manager) and set it up in Turkey? It says that accounts can't rejoin another family for 12 months so I don't want to take the risk if it doesn't work..

          • @Killua27: If an existing account is in a family I don't think you can exit and join it to a new family within 12 months. What you can do is keep the existing family, then make a new account (new account not the family manager, just a normal account) and then add this account to the existing family. Once added into the family, make the new account exclusive to Turkey so only 1 Turkey payment profile and sign up to this plan with the new account. Once done all members should have access.

So for example, if you have a family of members 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Let's say #1 is the family manager. Make space by kicking out member #6. Then make a new account and join it to the family (#6 new). #6 new will now be used to subscribe to Google One.

            Hope this makes sense

            • @I Smell Pennies: Ive done this and my primary account is (Even tho has no "turkey profile" and only australian profile) still showing TRY in google play store.

  • Windscribe set to Turkey, but price is showing in CZK, wtf##

  • Few things to consider,
Google play country needs to be changed, only changing payment profile might not work. I recommend doing this on second account. Turn the VPN on go to google play store setting and switch your store to Turkey, card has to be added so no need for anything else. I recommend using Wise app to get free debit card which has the best conversion rate and no intl transaction fee.

Google one account cant be used to add family members outside of "Turkey", if you want to add, buy a house for that person in Turkey as well. You can share google photos though, use share feature in google photos and add your primary account as family member.

Having Turkey as playstore country, its possible to subscribe to any subscription plan that can be done through google play in Turkish Lira including YT premium.

    • YMMV, but I added a new Turkey profile on top of my Argentina profile and it worked

  • Deleting AU profile means that you will lose the google credits and other stuff.
Seem like a lot of effort …. and it may still not work.
    I give up.

    • You may not have to delete AU profile, depending on the pricing displayed

      • Yeah I didn't becuase I still have google credits left from all of the surveys!

    • How do you delete AU payment profile? I do not seem to figure out. Payment profile settings page does not have an option to delete a payment profile.

      • +1

Select the profile, scroll down to the bottom of the page then click 'Close payments profile' - use these steps if unsure https://support.google.com/pay/answer/7643930

      • I think if it is a new account and you have not made any purchases and start a Turkish profile, then there is no Australian profile. However, if play store settings are set to Australia, it may still show you prices in AUD initially.

  • What happens to existing app purchases if you delete the AUD payment profile? Are they linked to that? Or to your Google account? Don't want to lose access to all my purchases apps.

    • You lose them. I added Turkey to my country you can't change to Turkey until after 12 months if you have an Australian country profile anyway.

      • +1

That's if you change your pay store country, which isn't what the instructions here suggest. It's just talking about payment profiles. Not the same thing.

        • Yeah I heard you still get to keep your apps.

          https://www.reddit.com/r/degoogle/comments/grt1wt/what_happe…

Just be careful and do some research beforehand

            • @dontbeatightarse: This is what prompted me to stop and ask the question.

Has anyone here deleted their AUD payment profile and retained/lost any purchases on Play Store / Google TV / etc? Would be great to get some first hand experiences…

              • +3

@dontpanic: I deleted my AU payment profile to set this up, recreated it afterwards and when I go into order history https://play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory I'm able to see all the purchases I've made.

I paid for a couple of movies previously and I'm able to replay them with no issues.

                • @Heybargain: Thank you for this important info. I was hesitant to take the plunge since I have way more than $100 in purchases (mostly through rewards credit) and that would outweigh any savings made - especially since I don't NEED 2TB right now (although I do need more than 100GB).

                • +2

@Heybargain: So I went through with it. All my purchases were still there. It cancels any subscriptions you have, but they still remain valid until their expiry. Family accounts have access to the 2TB, though this was all set up before hand. One caveat is that it does switch your Play Account to Turkey, which means you have different access to apps/tv/movies. This can't be switched back for 12 months. Not a big deal since I've already purchased everything I need.

        • Not sure, I added Turkey to my existing Gmail accounts payment profile and selected it all while the vpn was on and my prices were still in AUD. I created a new Gmail account and I was able to get Turkish prices.

My phone and everything is connected to my main account so I'm not going change it for now. If I can't share the storage with my main account it's useless because it's attached to your emails, photos and everything else.

  • +1

Can someone compile a list of memberships one can acquire using these types of methods?

  • I've made a Turkey account paid for the year but now I can't share to my au account. Now if I change my au account to Turkey so I can share will I loose my subscriptions I currently have with Australia?

    • Im in the same bucket.
Created a new account, added family members, set up turkey profile, created subscription, changed profile back to Aus, then when i got my my regular google accounts and click the 'join family' i get* "Can't join family group. It looks like you're not in the same country as the person who invited you. Learn more"*

      • Yes because you can't change the account to Australia until 12 months pass. So I think what your supposed to do is create turkey account. when 12 months is up then pay for 1 year Google one change account to Australia then share the family.

I'm thinking if you have 2 Turkey accounts setup you could alternate between the 2 so one is Turkey one is Australia main always stays Australia.

        • I was able to change my address from Turkey to Australia, but maybe this doesnt work on the back end.

Atleast this was a new account i created and can bin it pretty easily and cancel the One 2tb subscription easily

          • @thorpef1: Won't get a refund.

But to change your country you need to go through playstore accounts and change in there.

You cannot change country until 12months of making the account. It says this on their website.

        • Did you try the 12pm edit above?

EDIT 12:00 PM: You need to turn on family sharing after signing up to this plan to actually share the storage. To do this, go to the Google One site and click on the Gear settings icon (alternatively click on this link(one.google.com), then go to "Manage Family Settings" and toggle it on

          • @atlas: Yes I did change that to turn on family sharing. Still getting the error when going to accept on the other accounts.
Not wanting to change the other accounts to Turkey if I don't need to.

          • @atlas: Yes but you can only share with accounts in same country so you need to change primary Australian account to turkey to share.

            • @Jklaro: As it turns out, your family can be in Australia and you can add a Turkey account to the same family. That Turkey account can then subscribe to Google One and share the benefits with the family.

              • @atlas: I can't add my turkey account to my Australian family account. Still same error not in same country.

                • @Jklaro: Do you have VPN on? Try turning off

                  • @atlas: No vpn.

                  • @atlas: Ok I have deleted Australian payment methods only turkey account but now when I go to purchase the storage it shows aud and then I click the 2tb option to see it it shows try when going to purchase but it comes with error something went wrong on our end. Please try again.

                    • @Jklaro: Try different card if possible

                      • @spikiii: So it doesn't even get to the last screen where it says to pay for the 2tb.

As soon as I click the 2tb option when choosing between storages it gets the error.

I never get to see the TKY $ amount.

    • So in summary - to share with family members the other members also need to move to Turkey?

  • unfortunately too late, i am using googla account way too much to risk being blocked for breaches etc. I did this with youtube and disney+, really don't want to touch/risk my main google account.
Anybody at the early stages of integration this is solid deal, as a Turkish i don't see currency getting better with or without Erdogan.

    • +2

You don't have to do this on your main account. I did on a new account which is part of my family group and share the storage to everyone.

      • So just to confirm, that new account doesn't have to be the managing account on the family but just a member of the family and still can share with everyone within the family?

Thanks for that, I didn't think of that actually great idea.

        • I am not sure about that as I had another account in my family which I use as a parent account for my kids. That one didn't had any payment profiles attached so turkey is the only payment in there.

But somebody else can confirm this.

  • How do you delete AU payment profile? I do not seem to figure out. Payment profile settings page does not have an option to delete a payment profile.

  • Sooo, I tried this using my burner account.

I see the amount in $TRY but when I try to pay for a year it says "Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, contact us."

    RIP?

  • +1

Just FYI. I kept getting the AUD price after adding the Turkish payment profile. After deleting my AUD profile, even without VPN, I got the TRY pricing.

    • That's what I had to do

    • yes. you need to delete the AU payment profile to get the TRY pricing.

  • +3

Just a heads up, made a dummy account and followed steps as mentioned.

Went to page and prices came up in USD and I thought there was something wrong with the VPN. Make sure you select proceed with payment and then it will come up with the Turkish price on the next page.

Wasted like 2 hours disconnecting and reconnecting the VPN to get the TRY price on the Google One page. Hopefully this will save some stress for some people :)

Thank you for the heads up on the offer!

    • +1

Thank you so much for your post, I was also struggling as mine was showing AUD no matter what I did, then after proceeding with payment, it showed price in TRY!

If you go to Personal info (on the right) and then select General preferences for the Web and change Language and Input Tools to English, it'll make navigating the site easier and not needing Google translate.

Emails till come through in Turkish though.

I've had this TRY deal for over a year now - had no issue from the Googs.

  • I still have the yearly storage subscription until december 2022 .. what happen if I cancel that and re-subscribe the turkish one

    • I believe it adds on, so you'll get 12 months from now and the months between now and december adds on as extra

  • can you delete the turkish payment profile once you get on the plan or does the ongoing payment require the payment profile attached to that account to still be in turkey?

    • +1

Just had a look at deleting the turkish payment profile, looks like it will also cancel the google one subscription:

"Important: After closing your payments profile, you will immediately lose the ability to view your transaction history. You’ll also lose access to any services linked to the profile. This includes your ability to:

Purchase from Google Play and other Google products
Use Google Pay to make purchases
Send and request money with Google Pay and Gmail
Store gift cards, loyalty programs, and payment info
      View your transaction history
Trade in your phone in Google Store or get credited/refunded for trade-ins that are still in process

When you close this profile, the service(s) below will be canceled:
      Google One"

      • thanks. i'm asking also because i have another account in my family group that is subscribed to youtube premium india. the current payment profile selected on it is india and i was thinking that's why all the members in the family are also somehow set to india. i wonder if i left the payment profile and switch that the payment profile on that account back to Australia whether i'll get Australian pricing back but also keep the indian YT subscription going.

  • +1

I moved my family manager account to Turkey a few days ago, and did the 2TB for a year for $25aud equivalent using surfshark. Bit of a complicated process but it’s working great!

  • +9

ok… soooo for those playing at home… looks like i now have successfully subscribed to Turkish Google One with Argentinian Youtube premium shared through family.

The account that had the YT premium subscription had several payment profiles listed there: https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings
    - AU for google play
    - AG (Argentina) for YouTube subscription
    - Russia for YouTube Subscription (I'm guessing i switched at some point in the past)
    - Newly created Turkish profile for this experiment.

This account is what I have as a spam/burner/not important stuff Gmail account. So if something screws up, i'm not too fussed. It's also the Family Manger account that shares out YT premium to my actual main Google account - previously shared as family member and currently enjoys TY Premium thanks to the family share from above mentioned spam/burner account. I want my actual personal/main Google account to have the Google One benefits (it's currently subscribed via AU to 100GB for $2.49/month) .. so this is what I tried:

    • I proceeded to delete the AU payment profile in this Family manager account - blah blah blah , accepted the terms etc.
    • Refresh the page after deleting AU profile and selected the Turkish profile as the one that was default for Google Play.
    • Then opened the Google storage page - https://one.google.com/u/0/storage?hl=en-GB&utm_medium=web&u…
    • Scroll down to select new Google One Plan - it's now displayed in Turkish Lira - proceeded to select 2TB plan (nearly same price as the AU 100GB plan)
    • Proceed to pay with credit card - first one i used didn't work (says payment unsuccessful), so tried another (ANZ card for those who care) and it works.
    • Am now subscribed to 2TB Turkish Google One plan and shared out to all family members (previously already linked)
    • Confirmed in my main Google account , it's space has been reflected as 2.1TB (remember i have the 100GB AU subscription)
    • then proceed to cancel 100GB AU subscription in Main account.
    • Space still reflects 2.1TB until next AU bill cycle where it'll cancel the subscription.

All family members + family manager now have shared Turkish 2TB Google One storage plan & Argentinian YouTube Premium subscription.

Of note, all family members currently still have AU payment profiles & AU Addresses, The Family manager has a Turkish Payment profile now with no AU payment profile. They were previously set up in family to share the Youtube Premium benefits and were all AU Aligned after the family manager account signed up successfully to the Argentinian YouTube Premium service.

sorry long post.. but seemed to have worked for me now.

    • interesting - i've only ever succeeded when there's a sole payment profile on the account. anymore and it seems to just capture the currency of the original profile…
im tempted to try this for my manager account which has YT india now but thinking of getting an argentinian account instead. How did you swap payment currencies going from YT russia to argentina? Did you have to cancel your subscription first?

    • Great post and thanks for sharing your experience. Sounds like exactly what I did haha. Shows that you can have multiple payment profiles

Sounds like I'm going to have to create a family manager account!

    • Yea it was weird but it allows it.
      - i opened this page after deleting the AU payment profile (https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/)
      - then selected the Turkish profile as default for Google Play https://imgur.com/a/HR39awR
      - then refreshed the page again to make sure it stuck
      - opened a new tab to the Google storage page (https://one.google.com/u/0/storage?hl=en-GB&utm_medium=web&u…)
      - it then stopped displaying in AUD & reflected TYR
      - went through subscription process and confirmed it was all in Turkish Lira
