Google One Storage Monthly/Yearly 100GB (A$0.50/$5.02) 200GB (A$1.00/$10.04) 2TB (A$2.51/$25.11) @ Google Turkey (VPN Required)

Reposting this deal from 2021, credits to the original poster @Pricebeat and @neo479

Due to the significant change in currency exchange rates, prices are now around 50% lower than last year. I've done the currency conversions from Turkish Lira to Australian Dollars and the percentage of savings so you don't have to :)

Storage Monthly Cost (% Savings) Yearly Cost (% Savings)
100 GB AUD $0.50 (80% off AUD RRP) AUD $5.02 (80% off AUD RRP)
200 GB AUD $1.00 (77% off AUD RRP) AUD $10.04 (77% off AUD RRP)
2 TB AUD $2.51 (80% off AUD RRP) AUD $25.11 (80% off AUD RRP)
5 TB AUD $12.58 AUD $125.78
10 TB AUD $25.15 N/A
20 TB AUD $50.30 N/A
30 TB AUD $75.45 N/A

I remember doing this on an iPhone a few months back (as I don't have an android). So I'm guessing the device does not matter. I just resubscribed today to a new plan, on a PC. So here's my experience, and it took literally minutes.

Step 1: Change your Google payment profile to Turkey. If needed, use a fake address simulator like this one

Step 2: VPN (fly) to Turkey using the deal link above (I used the free Windscribe Chrome extension; although it was a bit tricky since Windscribe kept connecting me to random Turkey locations - in this case just disconnect and reconnect until you land on Istanbul or something, or use a different VPN. Nord VPN does not work). if the currency is shown in Turkish Lira, you've hit the jackpot

Step 3: Subscribe to the plan of your choice. Use a credit/debit card (preferedly with no international fees)

Step 4: Fly back home

EDIT 2:27 AM: After serious testing I've found the following:

  1. Regards to AussieMark's comment here

    • I just did some testing and it looks like you can share your Google One with family members - IT'S POSSIBLE! The only catch is you have to add the family members / accounts into the family first, before taking one of the accounts and subscribing through this deal. TO ADD FAMILY MEMBERS GO TO https://families.google.com/families

  2. For those who currently have Youtube Premium from Argentina, and want to sign up to this deal on top on the Google account - IT'S POSSIBLE, simply create a new payment profile for Turkey

    • If pricing initially shows Turkish but switches back to AUD, try this method: You might see the 3 columns show Australian pricing, but select the 2tb and go to next screen and check it changes to TRY currency. if this doesn't work, then I think you have to delete the Australian payment profile. You can always make a new one after, but be aware that deleting your Australian profile will destroy all your Google Play Credits
    • You can create a new payment profile by following these steps by alcheron: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the Turkish profile.

Hope this helps!

EDIT 12:00 PM: You need to turn on family sharing after signing up to this plan to actually share the storage. To do this, go to the Google One site and click on the Gear settings icon (alternatively click on this link, then go to "Manage Family Settings" and toggle it on. This step assumes you've sared it with other members before signing up to this plan, as you cannot add family members anymore after if their account locations are not in the same country

Please note the process can be easy for some people, harder for others, or may not work at all. Copying some notes from @bargainsgrabber

  • There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:
    • Modem reset for faster internet,
    • Cash back program purchase tracking,
    • Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
    • Targeted bargains, and
    • Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
  • Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up to Netflix Turkey or Argentina. After all it is intended for people who reside in Turkey or Argentina. If it does not work, I am not affiliated with any of the entities listed below or linked to and cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only read comments on this platform and others to share them with you. Your patience is appreciated. Please do not take it personally.

Shows how much Google is ripping us off in Australia (and other Western countries).

Google's costs for selling this service to Turkish users are exactly the same as in Australia. There is no physical store-front, so they can't blame high salaries for retail employees, or high rents for their shops.

They are charging us $100 extra just because they think they can get away with it.

    Absolutely sickening.

    • Not true. When you upload/download, data will be streamed from the closest POP, e.g. Australian servers. Bandwidth and building infrastructure for AU servers are way more expensive than servers/datacenters in Turkey.

      • Do Google have a datacentre in Turkey?

    • +1

I'm not sure if you want to live in Turkey and earn a Turkish wage…

  • +5

did anyone else end up paying for 2 TB even tho they only using 15 GB lol

  • +1

Don't forget about Google opinion rewards. I use the credits to pay for my Google 1 subscription. Earn about $1/week.

    • I signed up 2 months ago. Have only got 70 cents so far :(

Location services turned on and I check the app frequently but do not get surveys. I go to at least a couple of different towns (and associated shops) at least twice a week. Have also had a couple of weekend outings in Sydney. Google maps shows these places but still no surveys.

  • Is there any similar regional exploits for Apple iCloud or Microsoft Office?

  • What do we all use this for?

  • Bit of a noob question - will this work with iPhone?

    • +1

It should, but do it on PC since functionality is better and easier to navigate

    • +1

Yep I got it to work on iPhone.

  • Why does turkey get the best deals for everything.

    • Because 90% inflation of Turkish Lira

Thanks OP. Pretty straight forward to set up a 2TB subscription using the information that's already been provided.
For context I currently have YouTube Premium from Argentina set up with existing family sharing (Argentinian profile) as well as an Australian profile when I first set up my gmail account. These were the steps I took to get it working (I used incognito for all of the following steps):

1/ Create a new Turkey payment profile using these instructions https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12362497/redir
go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the Turkish profile.

2/ Delete my existing Australian payments profile by selecting the profile, scroll down to the bottom of the page then click 'Close payments profile' - use these steps if unsure https://support.google.com/pay/answer/7643930

3/ Fly to Turkey (I was able to use NordVPN) then go to the Google One pricing page https://one.google.com/about/plans
This showed up in TRY pricing and I was able to select the 2TB yearly plan, paid using my Macquarie bank card ($25.50 AUD).

4/ Once this was set up I created a new Australia payment profile, then flew back to Australia.

5/ Double checked existing YouTube subscription per https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12362579/redir and everything is all still as is with payments still being made using the Argentinean payments profile.

6/ If I go into the plans page https://one.google.com/about/plans it shows with TRY pricing.

  • I connected to servers in Turkey using Surfshark. I created a new Google payment profile for Turkey. I deleted my Australian payment profile. I still see AUD when I click the link :-( no turkish lira.

    • try a different VPN?

    • Surfshark turkey vpn is never a truly Turkish server, it's some weird routeing via the UK. I never got it to work for this google deal or for any of the the Netflix deal

  • +2

I’d suggest people who are having issues with it showing up as Australian prices to check their IP once connected to their VPN to make sure that it’s showing up in Turkey. Here
After that’s done open up incognito and open the Google One plans page Here and if it’s correct it should show Turkish Lira prices, sign in and it should still stay as Turkish Lira prices, follow the instructions and sign up.

    • Yes, make sure location points to Istanbul or somewhere close! Otherwise you’re missing the jackpot

  • +1

Keep getting "Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, contact us. Learn more"

    • I got that too. Found out it was my debit card so I deleted the card off the payment profile, and clicked through the links again… and it would ask for a debit/credit card on the screen when applying… entered a different CC (commbank) and it worked.

They must have declined my other card cos I’ve had it used for multiple Google accs or something idk

      • I deleted the card off the payment profile (it asks for another to replace - entered a new one).

Still declining even though I added a totally new card…

        • Got it to work with a different card.Good luck.

          • @Mechanist: What country do you put when you add a card? Turkey or AU…?

EDIT: Got it to work in the end by using a burner account, and inviting my main.

      • Yeah got it to work with another card, thanks

    • Same error for me. Added a new card that i never use for google/youtube. Still got the error.

  • +1

I've deleted my aussie payment profile, created a turkish one and only have indian profile for youtube, but no matter what i do, it shows the google one price in indian rupee. Any ideas?

    • +1

Sounds like you haven't arrived in Turkey yet.

    • I had Australian and indian profiles, was showing INR until I deleted indian payment profile, didn't have to delete aussie one.

      • That would cancel my youtube premium sub though :/

        • No do not delete your indian profile as you currently use that for youtube.
After you create your turkeish profile connect to VPN.
You can check you're in turkey using https://whatismyipaddress.com/ and make sure you're in turkey
Then go to the google one pricing page and see if it comes up in TRY
If not, then you're not in Turkey and try again.

          • @Heybargain: Defintely says im in Turkey and i've tried 2 different VPNs also. Now that i've given up, i created a new Aussie profile but even off VPN it comes up as INR and i can't resubscribe to Google One :(

        • Sorry I didn't think about YouTube. I got two Gmail accounts, one main with YouTube, another one for photos. Probably subscribe YouTube to Argentina, might be cheaper

    • I had a similar problem, except I was getting CZK currency.
I disconnected and reconnected to the free windscribe VPN and after a few goes it worked in chrome incoginito

unfortunately, when I log back into my account, it changes back to AU because of my AU profile.

    • i have exactly the same problem as you. what i realise though is you will need to use another account in the family group to sign up for the service. this account must only have one TURKISH payment profile on it. The google one pricing will still be in rupee no matter what you do, believe me i've tried everything to at least get it back to AUD but nothing would work. In the end, I realise that if you are properly connected to a turkish VPN and have your sole payment profile in turkey, clicking through to the payment page will yield you TURKISH lira pricing. But lo and behold, I still can't subscribe because i keep getting ""Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, contact us. Learn more" error which people get above and i haven't found a way around it yet.

  • How do we change profile on our phones

  • TO ADD FAMILY MEMBERS BEFORE SIGNING IP TO THIS DEAL, GO TO: https://families.google.com/families

  • +1

    https://i.ibb.co/fD3s4SD/image.png
I get TRY 5.79/month or TRY 57.99/year! Perfect! thank you. I had to add a credit card to my GOogle Turkish payment Profile then I can see the TRY currency.

  • +1

Hmm, I currently pay ~$125 AUD a year for 2TB of storage … that a huge saving.

  • +1

Does deleting the Australian profile delete any of the Google One credits that you might have got when purchasing stuff from Google? Didn't want to test this myself, in case it deleted my credits from Pixel phone purchase…

    • Trying to find this out myself. I've only got $15, but I'd rather not lose it (or I'd like to know if I should spend it first)

    • I heard it doesn't delete credit (play store credit) but you cannot use them for the year until you're able to jump back to Australia as default.

      • Hmm, might have to wait until the Pixel Watch is out to use the credits first 😂

    • let me know when someone tries this!
i have about $80 from giftcards and Google Rewards that I haven't used up and scared to delete my AU profile.

      • When I tried to delete the profile, it says I will not be able to use $9.xx credit if I close the profile…

  • Can you still use the Google reward points to pay for it?

  • +1

Thank you very much. Signed up for the 2TB. Got the VPN as well ( its active in AU ).

Does this mean that we will also get the 10% back in google credit when we purchase pixel products etc from the AU google store? If so, thats an bonus to an already great deal

    • No, there is no credit for Turkey google one

  • They dont have a windows app? looking for an alternative to Mega (50GB account free when i signed up for it)

    • It syncs to windows like OneDrive and Dropbox

      • +1

Google Drive? is that the app? just found it.

  • F

  • When connecting from Windscribe to Turkey Istanbul (Ataturk) on iPhone, in incognito without logging in, I only see the pricing in CZK currency.

Is there any other free VPN we can use?

    • +1

if you keep disconnecting and reconnecting to that same VPN location, Turkey Istanbul (Ataturk), eventually you’ll land on the jackpot giving the Turkish Lira price

      • Will keep trying, but no luck yet after 15mins of reconnecting.

        • Try on a laptop or computer if you have one

          • @I Smell Pennies: I tried it on my desktop and I do see it in TRY, until I log in. My family account currently has an active youtube premium subscription with India. Do I need to cancel my subscription and delete the Indian payment profile?

            • @darkness: Give this a try

              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/12367397/redir

Also did you create a Turkey profile yet or no?

              • @I Smell Pennies: Yes I created a Turkey profile, but all pricing is still in Indian Rupees.

Is it worth cancelling the Youtube Premium with India, deleting the Indian profile, and signing up both One and Youtube Premium with Turkey? Seems like it is cheaper with Turkey for Youtube Premium too. Just don't want to cancel and then be unable to sign up with Youtube Premium.

      • Yeah, that's what happened for me too, it only took less than a dozen disconnects and reconnecting to change from CZK to TRY.

but then when I log into my google account, it reverts to AU because I have an AU profile.
waiting for someone to confirm if I'll lose all my credits if I delete my profile.

  • If you already have a family group and UserA is the admin and with Google One subscription, can UserB subscribe to this after UserA's sub expires? Will it still be shared with the family?

  • I cancelled my annual google one, thinking that it won't end until later in the year, but it ended straight away :-(
    How do I un-cancel my cancel ?

    • When I was doing testing yesterday, I signed up to the monthly one and cancelled it, I still have until 6 August.

I assume it should be the same with Yearly plan. Did you check carefully?

      • I tried VPN using Windscribe, but didn't work. Amount still comes out at A2.50 per month

        • I cancelled my yearly one and it says it won't end until the fully paid year has passed in October, was your expiry date close?

  • +1

You need to turn on family sharing after signing up to this plan to actually share the storage. To do this, go to the Google One site and click on the Gear settings icon (alternatively click on this link, then go to "Manage Family Settings" and toggle it on

  • Is that mean the 2TB price is around $25 AUD next year as well? or it will change to a total different price?

    • +1

currency fluctuates. Hopefully it's stay the same or get even better, get cheaper. Whatever the scenario it'll still be much less expensive than AU subs

      • I only have NordVPN which is not working, then I tried the windscribe still shows it in AUD. I have created the payment profile in Turkey.
do you have any other free VPN suggestions? thanks

        • I was able to use NordVPN successfully. Perhaps try selecting another server.

  • -2

    Is this immoral though?
Taking advantage of a nation with less purchasing power?
It's like getting a fake NSW address for flood donation money.

    • +8

Google has no moral qualms about shifting profits offshore to tax havens.

      • I love this reply

      • -1

I disagree with this too though.

  • +1

so just successfully did my switch with existing account here are my two cents:

1.The existing Argentina account must be deleted given google one only allows USD payment for Aegentina account.
1.5 set up your family group 1st in case you havent.
    2. With my existing agentina payment profile with YT Premium and my AUS payment profile with Google one. I created a TRY payment profile 1st with AU mstercard. Then I deleted both my Aus and Argentina payment profie.
3.Use android phone to turn off and turn on, disable my GPS, fire up VPN to Istanbul.
4.go to YT to stop my premium membership, when you click resume, there is an upgrade to family plan option which will convert you to monthly TRY charge
5.go to google one APP (downloaded via play store) and the currency will be showing as TRY. my google play account is also switched to Turkey once all payment profile is deleted.

  • I am paying 25 per year for the 100 gb.

I did cancel that and followed these steps. Though I can see the price in Turkish lira when I open the above link in incognito window, it switches to Australian dollars after logging into Google account..

    How can we rectify this?

    • Did you make a new Turkey payment profile?

      And then…

If pricing initially shows Turkish but switches back to AUD, make sure you go and delete the Australian payment profile. You can always make a new one

      • Done that, still same issue.
EDIT: never mind, even if it comes up with Australian pricing, you go to purchase and it changes to TRY.

  • The price shows up in Turkey lira but "Your transaction can't be completed. To continue this transaction, contact us." happened when pressing subscribe. Did anyone get the same issue?

    • +7

Well, I disconnected my VPN and it worked…

      • lol

      • Same for me, Thanks!

Just VPN to get the price and then turn off when clicking pay
