          • @mitt: i wonder if its easy to muck up on ps too

            • @capslock janitor: Petrolspy & other fuel reporting apps pull data from state-run fuel reporting schemes for the most part these days. In states with no scheme its still user-reported. Petrol stations report to the gov schemes through a web portal (at least in Queensland). Often the station manager/staff are the ones typing that stuff in so errors can happen.

The various sites that pull from those schemes tend to update their data every 10 mins but I have seen that break & not update for a while.

It's over guys. Penrith is the cheapest.

    • +2

Still shows now as cheap in Wantirna, just don’t think anyone can lock in.

  • gg

    • Wantirna is still the cheapest if you search for it.

  • +3

Of all the days to be in back to back Teams meetings all arvo and not seeing this deal - bugger! I need fuel tomorrow too.

    • I just realised that, given that my car only takes 40L, I was only going to be saving $20 or so. No big deal.
I am more disappointed that I couldn't save my Dad, Mum, brother and some friends a bigger amount.

    • It worked for me. Just search for Wantirna and lock in.

  • +1

No more. Penrith in Sydney is the cheapest.

    • Wantirna is still the cheapest if you search for it.

      • search how?

        • Searched, says unable to load prices for me

  • I am worried if they will honour this price. Lock fuel function is not available any more, throwing error to me.

    • +1

They will, as long as you have locked the price in before they stopped it

      • +1

It's up to them to honour it or not. They could shut it all down tomorrow.

        • +4

They honoured the 99c/L glitch a few months ago, they have never not honoured a locked in price AFAIK, so while you are technically correct, it would be unprecedented.

          • +2

@Binchicken22: They honoured the 0.8c/L deal too. That one was spectacular.

            • +1

              @ATangk: Holy cow. Link?

              • @itsfree: Try officeworks for price match
                Or 28degrees for shopper protection

            • @ATangk: 7-eleven should be named “The True Good Guys”

          • +5

@Binchicken22: They honoured 0.001c/L three years ago.

            • +2

@jimojr: How did I forget about this one… I had the top comment too!

Going back, reminds me how you had to load your account with money to cover the lock-in cost.

            • +1

@jimojr: Whoa!! That's the stuff of legend. 155 upvotes and 4489 clicks too! It must have been up for a while!!

              • +1

@itsfree: Tbh not sure why so many clicked through. Its just an uploaded picture and you can see everything important in the thumbnail haha.

    • You worried to much even 99c can be used without issues

      • XD

Filled up 50L of U98 few hours ago and saved $35. Relocked several accs after

    • willing to share?

  • It seems server is down for me.

  • +7

    Filled up and saved $57

7/11 Cashier was asking me how i got the price, but it was honoured! :)

  • +4

I'm getting the message "Uh oh. fuel price lock is currently unavailable. please try again later"

  • Same

  • anyone know how does relocking work please in general even for normal prices that you see im just curious and im new thanks :)

    • see 711 forum thread thats pinned

      • Would like to know this too, but unsure how to locate this pinned thread. Do you mind linking it?

  • Anyone still got a chopper in the sky who can help a brother out

  • +2

Chopper was blocked from taking off :(

    • +1

Your chopper took off but was blocked from landing

  • Chopper cannot take off :-(

  • -1

I think it's price error that was quickly fixed. Gone now

  • +2

Filled up and saved $49.50! Cashier knew about the Wantirna price and it was honoured. He said it wasn't a mistake and was intentional, but wasn't sure why

    • How did you save that much??

      • +3

4WD fuel tanks have upwards of 100L plus sizes

        • Aha ok

        • doesn't need to be that big, just filled up 45L and saved $44

      • The more expensive your local 7-11 is the bigger the savings….

    • +1

"intentional"- maybe to note down all the 7Eleven accounts that locks in and flag them lol

      • +1

        then make a new one?

      • +1

Lol maybe, but doing that has already cost them $50 from me and I'll just create another account if necessary

    • if every fuel type is discounted, chances r they r trying to empty the tank for maintenance/ reno

  • +4

Been to the Wantirna station couple of mins ago. The price is already up. And Application is still down for locking the price :(

    • +1

If the price has gone up, no need to lock it in anyway.

Was the petrol station still busy when you went?

      • +1

Not busier than any regular day. The reason I tried to lock the price is, the store locator tab still shows the old price in the app.

        • Looks like they’ve shut down the price lock then. That might be why the app doesn’t show the updated price.

I wonder if this was a price error or not.

  • It's not allowing to lock any more. 😔
Please do let me know if some one is not using and could lend a screenie.

  • (profanity), I just filled up my tank yesterday. I would've saved nearly $30.

    • +3

Lock in 7 days to use.

  • +4

Used in QLD at heathwood, saved $50! :D

    • Damn must have driven quick to get from Wantirna to Heathwood within a couple hours

      • +2

he flew, mate. most of us can afford a chopper or two - those extra $2 cashback bonuses add up over time.

        • +2

Damn straight! My savings from this are going right back into another chopper

  • +2

Just filled up U91, from $111 to $65. $46 discount pretty decent.

  • I'm getting Fuel lock no longer available on a new account.

  • Shane I missed this.

  • Damn, raced home to start the Chopper and missed out! Would gladly appreciated any assistance from any unused ones…! Thank you OzB legends :)

  • +1

    It's a trap!

    • It doesn’t say if it was an error or not. Wonder if it was a publicity stunt.

      • I think it may have been. Either way imagine how much nearly 2 minutes of prime time air time costs. They would have definitely got their marketing dollars worth…

  • Curious does anyone know if price can be applied for multiple cars? Definitely don't think I would need 150 litres, so wanted to share this with neighbour

    • +3

Yes as long as you pay in one go, multiple car is allowed

      • How does that work? So I drive together. Show the 7-11 guy the locked in deal - then pump the fuel in? And then once its full you ask your mate to have a go? Don't you take it out don't you have to ask the fuel guy to reenable the pump?

        • +4

You need 3 people. One person to fill up/hold the nozzle, and a driver for each car (to pull the car forward).

          • +1

@meowsers: Just have same person move both cars. Thats what I plan on doing

        • once 1st car is full, take note the how many litres went in, then swap to 2nd car.. and so on .. as long that you dont put the petrol gun back to the shoe

          • @elcheapo: are you even allowed to do that? lol

            • @Nathw: What is the difference between that and filling up jerry cans? I did my car and 2 jerry cans in one go

        • +1

So you can bring other people and fuel at the same time. When you pay just tell them the numbers for pump that your paying for and scan ur 7/11 card and pay.
3 cars = 3 pump but all in one transaction.
Today i filled with my fam 3 cars n saved $72 ish

        • +4

My brother and I both filled up at the same time at 2 pumps then I came in pay in one transaction. I believe as long as it does not excess 150 liters we can fill up as many cars or jerry cans as possible

          • +1

@legelas: I've done this before, not with a price lock but paying multiple pumps in one transaction. Shouldn't be a problem with this lock in.

            • @ATangk: yeah as long as you stay in the limit of 150 liters

    • +7

People have confirmed that you can just pay for 2 pumps of the same fuel type with one voucher. ie Pump 2 and Pump 6 both with U91 as long as the combined bill is less than 150L you're good. If you go over 150L then you pay market value for the over 150L amount.

      • +1

I did that (few months back) and it worked.

    • Just park cars at the same filling area facing opposite directions so you don't put the nozzle back and fill up simultaneously. I have done that before and they didn't complain

  • FYI if I screenshot it and send it to mates are they able to claim?

    • yes

    • Only 1 redemption per lock, they will need the card/barcode.
